This is my favorite Thai restaurant ever!!!! I've been coming here for 15 years. The restaurant is so very nice and always clean. The wait staff is fabulous and the food is ALWAYS delicious

Decent Thai restaurant. Good amount of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating with shade/umbrellas. The indoor seating wasn't freezing but a nice temperature. It wasn't too crowded at 1pm. Prices were good for the food portions. Ordered Thai tea for $5, miso soup $6 and Thai fried rice with chicken. Ended up paying $33 plus tip.

I heard of happy hour, tried Kimchi dumpling (I ate 6 pieces), and then I throw up within 30mins, not sure if it used oil. It's long wait for almost 20mins to get the appertizer. The servers are so slow and not even busy just only 5 tables here. Nice ambiance. Don't be there when you're so hungry, it's long wait.

This place is the perfect spot for a happy hour because the food was quick and worth it for the half price. It was pretty tasty and my friend got a drink here which was really delicious as well. The waiter was also really nice and can't complain with our food because it was really good.

I used to come here a lot when I lived in DC so I wanted to try it again when I was back in town for a visit, but the prices feel like they have skyrocketed! The actual food is still really great, but I did walk away feeling like I spent more than I should have on my items: Firefly Calamari ($14) - The price of this wasn't bad, but there were a lot more fried peppers in this than I would have liked. However, the calamari pieces itself were wonderfully crispy and nice and plump inside. To top it off, the honey lemon dip here is amazing - I wish other places used this as their calamari dipping sauce! Chirashi ($29.50) - This felt like a lot of money for a small tray of food. Without the Calamari (and even with it), I would still be hungry, and I feel like $30 should give you a filling meal at a place like this. But despite the small portion size, the fish itself was very nice and had a good variety. I do with the salmon and tuna pieces would be more like sashimi instead of poke, but it tasted good all around. The fish eggs on top were an especially nice touch! All in all, I used to love this place and I may be back for the appetizer, but $30 feels like too much money for a Chirashi of that size. The actual quality of the food is pretty good, but I can't justify the cost unfortunately.

Came here with a group of friends for dinner. I had already had dinner myself so I just had a drink. One of my friends is Japanese and said the sushi was okay, but not Japanese great. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal in general and we all had a nice time. The service was also good. I will give it 4 stars based on my friends, but really need to come back to properly review this place.

The food, drinks and service were all great. The ambiance is very casual so it's a nice spot to grab some sushi or a rice/noodle bowl. Everything was delicious - including the dumplings and crab rangoon appetizers. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. We went later in the evening and they were kind enough to let us know when last call was with plenty of time to spare and gave us another reminder right before they stopped serving. I'll definitely go back when I crave some quick good sushi.

The order of sushi in the Happy Hour menu includes six pieces, we also tried tofu fries.

I have been there for a couple of happy hours and they have good deals on drinks, all the cocktails half price, and high is pretty good for D.C. prices. Some of the snacks they offer for happy hour are also a great deal!

I came here yesterday with two friends during their happy hour which is M - F4-7 p.m. I ordered drinks from the happy hour menu, the lychee Bellini (was really refreshing) and the plum wine was strong and sweet, with an odd after taste. We also got one of each of the happy hour sushi rolls: spicy crunchy shrimp roll, spicy tuna and cucumber roll, crab roll, and a tofu roll which were all great! Honestly, we were starting to get full after that, but wanted to try some more. So we added on a softshell crab roll and a yellowtail and scallion roll + my friend got a spicy scallop maki roll. My favorites were the HH spicy crunchy shrimp, HH crab, softshell crab and spicy scallop maki rolls! The bill came to about $45-50 per person which is amazing considering we had a huge meal of sushi + cocktails in DC. The service was really fast, the bathroom and the restaurant was clean and our waitress was very helpful and checked in on us a lot. Coming back soon!

When ever I come to DC I come here this time I ate here twice the food is that good! Anything on the menu is amazing but my favorite is the mee goreng was my favorite . Each time I ordered a sushi roll , Vietnamese spring roll and the mee goreng. I wish we had one of these restaurants in AZ! The service is great too!

I used to come here over a decade ago in college because their happy hour was the only thing I could afford at the time. Fast forward to today and there doesn't seem to be a happy hour, but the quality of the food for the price is still solid. A great lunch or post work downtown sushi spot!

This was a delicious food spot and a great price point! I recommend their kimchi dumplings and crispy shumai. Both were a good portion for the appetizer. We got our food promptly and the staff were also quick to help us out. 3 of us came here for dinner and split 2 apps and a sushi and a main, and it came out to only be $16 a person.

Food was great. Went for happy hour and was very reasonably priced. Shrimp Katsu and Mushroom Tempura were particularly tasty.

Does the current happy hour start at 3:00 or 5:00? I haven't been in a while, and seeing mixed times in reviews.

I believe they start at 4 pm.

Is this place all you can eat sushi or not?

No. Not a buffet.

I ended up really enjoying it! I got the Taiwanese Fried Cashew Mozzarella Croquettes (House-made plant-based cashew mozzarella rolled in Taiwanese fry batter, drizzled w/Korean ketchup) It ended up being delicious, balanced, and garlicky. They were like fried shells that were then stuffed with liquid cashew cheese which was an interesting idea for me for making things like that more simply at home. The lettuce and sauces were so good with it. They also let me try the Chinese five spice agave syrup they use on their dessert egg roll when I asked about it. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

I love powpow! This…read moreis one of my favorite places to eat in DC, and think your experience depends on what you order. Highly highly recommend the Sesame Chicken and the BBQ pork. The texture and flavor for both make for such a nice meal in combination with the rest of the bowl. The noodle dishes (not as flavorful) or beef dishes (especially for meat eaters the texture can put people off) wouldn't be the first things I'd get. I also prefer to get the salad as my base bc the rice can be a little greasy at times and the crunch is nice. I like the dumplings for sides, but the star for me is always the dessert! It's almost impossible for me not to go grab the Chimi Chimi pow pow dessert egg roll when I'm in that part of town. It's not too sweet and is just so satisfying. The yuzu lemonade is great - really tart if you like that. The restaurant is also a nice space to be in for lunch. Service is usually quick unless things are busy and the people are really nice!

Here's why. 1) Food: The menu is very large with many options- appetizers, fried rice dishes, entrees, sushi, hibachi, and more. My friend ordered the miso soup, which comes in a larger-than-normal bowl, and the sushi. I got the chicken, beef, and shrimp fried rice per the owner's recommendation. As a surprise, they gave us spring rolls and a piece of matcha cake for my friend's birthday. The fried rice was sizeable and very good. The meat was perfectly cooked. The spring rolls and miso soup were excellent. The sushi, according to my friend, was good, but not noteworthy. 2) Drinks: They have an entire fridge full of soda, juices, beer, and even wine. 3) Service: It's excellent- attentive and quick. One of the owners took the time to talk to us and told a bit of her story. The owners also have restaurants on Capitol Hill and Adams Morgan. 4) Space: It's small and many use them for takeout, but they have three tables that sit four inside. It's tight, but it works. There's also a small outdoor patio along the sidewalk. 5) Area: It's along New York Avenue NW with lots of traffic, but it works. It's on a block with other local businesses. It's easy to walk to and there's street parking nearby that's more easy to find.

The omakase counter is in a small, semi private area in the back of the restaurant. There's cloth backed screens that separate you from the normal dining room, but sound definitely can travel to and from the omakase counter from the main room. The vibe of the restaurant was definitely peaceful though, so this was not a problem at all. The food was top tier. We've had Sushi Nakazawa before, and felt that we enjoyed both experiences equally. We could not definitively say which was better! It started with a few prepared dishes, then we moved onto the sashimi portion of the meal. The chef brought out large boxes of fresh fish which we were able to look through and pick out our favorites. We only picked 3 or 4 which we were interested in, and had the chef pick for us for the rest of the portion of the meal. Every bite was delicious. The sashimi was not just plain sliced meat, there were sauces and dressings applied to each one that complimented the meat perfectly. After sashimi, we moved onto the next portion of the meal which featured a few more small dishes, including some a5 Wagyu. This was followed by the nigiri. Similar to the sashimi, the boxes were brought out again and we were able to provide input into what we were interested in eating. Of course, we followed asked and followed the chef's recommendations other than calling out our favorites. By the end of this part of the meal, we were absolutely stuffed and were so pleased with our experience. Sitting at the counter was also an awesome experience. Watching the chef create food right in front of us was mesmerizing and being able to interact with him directly was something that I was surprised to enjoy. You definitely won't feel pressured to do so if you'd rather sit and enjoy yourselves.
