I've heard so many good things about this resto from other Singaporeans and I've been meaning to visit here to try out the meals. There's a wide variety of items available on the menu and I finally had my favorite dish - Bak kut teh (Malaysian version) after a year hiatus. My friend had the KL hokkien mee and have been raving about it. The environment is really nice and the staff is very attentive. I'd love to visit again to try out other items on the menu. Delicious Malaysian food! There aren't many Malaysian restaurants in the United States that I would highly recommend, but this is surely one of them. The food we're all generally point on in terms of taste and overall textures - which is amazing considering they have a pretty extensive menu. The chicken satay was tender and flavorful. Though the peanut sauce could improve a little as the peanut taste isn't strong enough. Char Kuay Teow had that smoky smell to it and the overall taste was delicious. Didn't finish it last night, and I had it this morning for breakfast. KL Hokkien Mee tasted exactly how I remember it back at home in Klang Valley which includes KL. Having not had it for a long time, I was floored with the first bite of this. Hainan Chicken Rice was tasty along with the taste of the chicken rice and sauces. Only thing that was slightly different from how I remember this dish is that the chicken lacked a little ginger taste to it but it could be different variations of how it is made. Also, they didn't have soup for this dish which commonly accompany this dish. Curry Laksa is exactly how curry laksa would taste. The right type of noodles was used which allows you to have broth together with noodle every bite. Lastly, the beef rendang was tender, flavorful and everything on the plate tasted complimentary to the whole dish. We were so full that we had no space for dessert. If only I lived close by that this would become my regular restaurant - but I live more than 2000 miles away. The service was impressive. I love Asian food and this restaurant has an amazing combination of all Southeast Asian cuisine! The menu items have flags of the countries where that dish is from. To drink, I got a classic Singapore Slinger. It was crisp and refreshing. For appetizers, I got the roti with chicken curry. I got the beef stew for the main entree. The food was flavorful! This is one of my favorite date night spots. I came here before for Valentine's Day and I liked how we didn't feel like it was crowded or rushed. Their drinks are great, a good level of strength to them. I really like the duck curry. Duck isn't that popular of a protein so every time I see it I love trying those dishes. I've been meaning to come here since getting take out from here once. We decided to come here for a cousin dinner, my cousin was able to make reservations for 9 people at 6 pm on a Saturday. There is a $5 charge per person if you're a no show. There's a 2 hour dining limit that starts at the time of your reservation as well. I can see why, this place stays busy! There is parking in the garage next door, but it's pretty small. I believe some of it is reserved for residence past the gate, so there's not a lot of spots. You can also park by the Giant which is a tiny bit further away. Our waitress was super nice and efficent. My husband and I were the first to show up and our waitress immediately came to greet us with waters. And took our drink orders as well. Once everyone arrived and was seated, we got drinks and appetizers in (roti canai and the special combination plate of honey bbq pork and the roasted pork - 2 each). Both were amazing and honestly my favorite plates of the night. The roti is so flakey and buttery. The curry dipping sauce is so flavorful, we started to just eat it with a spoon - we contemplated on getting another one. The combination plate was cooked so perfectly. That crispy skin on the pork was the star. For our mains, we did family style and ordered the pad kaprow crispy duck, the pea shoots (now that were older, I'm glad my cousin insisted on getting it), and then 2 each of the Hainanese Chicken, pineapple fried rice, beef rendang, and the char kway teow. The food all came out super quickly which was impressive. And it was all so good and piping hot. The Hainanese chicken was delicious, loved the chicken fat rice it came with. The pineapple fried rice is good, it's massive though. We probably could've gotten away with just ordering 1 for all of us. The char kway teow was one of my favorites. Just great wok hei. The beef rendang was fine, I think next time I'd order something else though. The pea shoots were cooked well, they were tender and delicious. Everybody's favorite was the crispy duck. It was garlicky and so good - I wish we would've gotten 2 of those. We all ordered dessert, I got the lychee pana cotta and the Thai tea ice cream to share with my husband. Honestly, it was probably too full for dessert, but it was worth it. The lychee pana cotta was decent - very light lychee flaor though. The thai tea ice cream was delicious - definitely my favorite. Southeast Impression is one of my new favorite restaurants added into my restaurant rotation. I've dined here for both lunch and dinner several times in the past few months and the food is steadily consistent and delicious! My absolute favorite dish here is the Hainese chicken which would literally be my last meal on Earth in every lifetime. It comes with seasoned rice (you can also ask for extra) and 3 sauces: chili, ginger garlic, and sweet soy. My toddlers are also a big fan of this dish along with the crabmeat fried rice. As for appetizers, I love the grilled squid, salmon ceviche, roti canai (there's also a vegetarian option) and chive pancakes. They also have a wide variety of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages as well to sip with your meal. Our service has been attentive for the most part. I'd recommend making reservations for the weekends as they definitely get busy. If you're unable to obtain street parking, you can park in the Scout or the Giant parking garages. read more

This restaurant has a variety of Southeast Asian food (hence the name haha) and it was hard to pick which dish to try cause they all sounded good! My friend and I shared the fried calamari and I think this was ok. I think this was a basic calamari and there was nothing wow about it. I ordered the Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken and it was my first time trying this dish. I really like how there was a variety of "sides" to add more texture and flavor. The fried chicken was nicely cooked and flavored and I really enjoyed the anchovies and nuts to add an additional crunch. The sambal was also good but pretty spicy. To start, we had some cocktails like Old Fashioned and Espresso Martini. We also had the Appetizer Platter which was a good idea since we couldn't pick an appetizer or two. I hope they can make this item more flexible in case we want to try other appetizers. For entrees, we had a few things - Nasi Lemak Pineapple Fried Rice, Hainanese Fried Rice, to name a few. What a spectacular experience. We happen to be in this area, and the venue itself caught our eye, tons of outdoor seating, which is dog friendly. We sat down and I have to say I was a little hesitant, I have a personal fear that anytime a menu has photos... but my God I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. Every single item we got, and we ordered a lot was truly fantastic. The only thing better than the food and service was the cocktail selection and knowledge of the bartender. Got the chance to try Southeast Impression for dinner and it did not disappoint. Visited on a weeknight for dinner and was seated quickly, no appt was necessary. Starting with the app, the Roti Canai was my favorite. The flakiness of the roti canai paired with the flavorful curry. The Hainan Chicken was very tender and juicy. I just wished the portions was a tad bigger so we can enjoy the rice, chicken, and all the sauces. My favorite main dish was the Char Kway Teow. Flat rice noodles, prawn, and Chinese sausage tossed in a glistening sweet and garlicy soy sauce over a high heat to give it that wok-hei finish. The vivid colorful menu just makes it more difficult to decide what you want to try, so bring a group to order multiple dishes to share. read more

Update: after trying a few more times here, I'm docking one star from this place. I realized it's not always a hit and your experience varies on the dish you order. That's a problem because their menu is too big both for the customers and the chefs. They do have many chefs, but too many options isn't always a good thing for restaurants. The decorations hasn't worn down much since my first visit, so it is still aesthetically pleasing. However, the incredible summer heat gets through and their AC cannot keep up during the day times, so prepare to be uncomfortably hot. I feel it's necessary to go by the dishes so I'm going to comment on a few I tried so far. The GOODS: Nasi Lemak is king. It's the best dish you can get here. The crispy chicken is out of this world. The pandan rice is amazing. The tiny crispy fish and peanuts balance it all. Roti with curry is a must-get appetizer. The roti is flaky in the right way. The curry goes so well with it and tastes like Malaysia. Teh tarik is a must get. It's basically Southeast Asian version of hot milk tea. I will always order it. Pineapple fried rice. It's spiced in the right way. The aroma is quite unique. I can't pin it. It's either wood smoke or some kind of masala. It smells great. It tastes especially better as leftover. The BADS: Me goreng. There are way too many ingredients. My taste buds are so confused. I can't tell if it's noodle with add-ons or the noodle itself is an add-on for the main add-ons. The potato chunks really wasn't doing it for me. Laksa. Ouch, terrible dish. The soup was way too rich and off to me. I will say it taste fresh though. The absolute no for me was mixing the hard texture rice noodle and the softer egg noodles. It should have been just egg noodles. It ruined the whole laksa for me. I was craving it but now I'm good for a few months. Crispy duck. This dish in most restaurants isn't crispy at all like the name says but it was quite crispy here. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary lunch here and had a wonderful experience. After seeing their photos online, we were eager to dine here, and the food was just as appealing in person. Parking was on the street, but we had no difficulty finding a space. The restaurant's atmosphere is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Updating my review since I stopped by to try their lunch as well. Visited on a Wednesday at 2pm with no reservation not realizing that their lunch ends at 3pm so the meal was a little rushed. No cocktails available to order during lunch time besides beer and wines. My party of 2 ordered fried oyster as an appetizer off of a special menu. This did not "wow" me and the batter was falling off on the oysters but the flavor was still delicious and goes well with the included sauce. We also ordered the pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles with beef. Out of these two items, the drunken noodles were our favorite and we both agreed that this is the best drunken noodles we've had before from a restaurant. Looks-wise it is a little plain but flavor profile stands out. The pineapple fried rice was also good but I feel like it is on the oilier side. A good amount of shrimp, chicken, and pineapple visible. Was surprised that there are raisins in this dish. WOW this place is incredible. I came here bc I wanted to try some Malaysian dishes on a Sunday night and wow was it busy! We waited for like 10 mins to get seated. Our server was so kind and knowledgeable and was able to recommend many dishes for us! I wasn't too hungry so we only got 3, the lentil roti canai, crab rangoons, and nasi goreng. We also got the white lotus cocktail and WOW OMG this tasted like a cocktail from an expensive $120 prix fixe menu restaurant. The roti was great on a cold day. This place has been the talk of the town since opening in the last year so we naturally had to check it out. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant can accommodate both small and large groups so you should probably make a reservation just to be safe. When it came to the food, the menu offers a variety of items from different Asian cultures. The problem I always worry about with such a diverse menu is the quality and flavor of the dishes. Unfortunately, this was the case for the items we ordered. We tried a little bit of everything from Vietnamese salads, soup from Laos, curry from Malaysia and some more. Nothing really stood out and everything was pretty average. The cocktails were also pretty pricey and tasted diluted so you are probably better off focusing on just the food if you are going to come here. I've done a few walk ins and the wait is usually around 30 mins during busy dinner times. I always get the soft shell crab and it comes with fried buns to dip in the sauce. The sauce was good but could have been saucier in my opinion, overall I would not get this meal again since I've had better and cheaper priced at other locations. My wife and I are Southeast Asian food fanatics, and have been missing the cuisines of this part of the world since our recent travels. Southeast Impression's vast menu of unique dishes from multiple countries thus enticed us, and we decided to visit for a weeknight dinner with my family. Upon entering, the bright ambiance and golden accents impressed us and struck the ideal balance of jungle vibes and more upscale elements. This place is subsequently appropriate for both special occasion outings as well as casual dinners. Additionally, the restaurant was quite busy even on a weeknight, so make reservations. We began our meal with the roti canai and the chicken curry puffs. The roti possessed a pillowy soft and chewy texture while maintaining a distinct flakiness; the flatbread was addictive paired with a well-spiced homestyle lentil and potato curry. We also enjoyed the chicken curry puffs which brought a subtly spiced potato and chicken filling encased in a shatteringly flaky, savory pastry crust. For our main courses, my wife and I opted for Singaporean and Malaysian options, respectively. I have never seen Hokkien Mee on a US restaurant menu and throughly enjoyed it on a recent trip to Singapore, so I gave it a chance. The dish comprises egg and rice noodles stir fried in a rich prawn stock with various meats and seafood, and is often served alongside a spicy sambal paste. The noodles in Southeast Impression's rendition ran a little too thin, but the flavors and textures were otherwise spot on, including the authentic addition of chunks of fried fatty pork and a funky, spicy sambal. We encountered similarly authentic flavors in my wife's curry laksa, which boasted a flavorful, spicy and not overly rich spicy broth with ample slices of fresh meat and seafood. For somewhat less adventurous eaters, Southeast Impression also offers a robust selection of all the Thai standards. While I do not consider the Thai food here necessarily worthy of a visit over your local Thai place, my parents' basil fried rice and drunken noodles both represented well-executed takes on the classics. Specifically, the chicken kapow fried rice possessed tender-chewy grains and an ample portion of chicken, and the vegetarian drunken noodles offered thick, bouncy rice noodles with a generous helping of unique veggies such as long green chilis and Chinese cauliflower. While prices run about $20 per entree, the quantities are generous especially in regards to proteins. Service here ran very smoothly and our waitress was friendly and very helpful. While we did not imbibe, the cocktail menu boasts an impressive selection of libations with unique ingredients. Southeast Impression thus left a a great, ahem, impression on us. It's an excellent option for unique dishes served in appealing digs. Great Southeast Asian cuisine, with fusion dishes from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. For appetizer I tried their Roti Canai; similar to Indian naan, with a chicken and potato curry, delicious. Main course was Drunken Noodle and Hainanese chicken rice, both excellent. If you can't handle spicy hot food you probably want to let your server know, I ordered my Drunken Noodles low heat, and they were borderline for me. I ordered the Pandan crème brûlée for dessert; very similar to the classic crème brûlée, with Pandan plant flavoring, really good. read more
