We had a company lunch there yesterday, and the owner greeted me - and kinda mentioned how slow things have been, but was hoping that as the snowcrete thawed she had hopes that things would pick up. Perfect example (beyond the amazing food) Emily Sachdev and I went in one evening late at night with our young daughter - who isn't the best out in restaurants....by the time we sat down, they had a plate of fruit places in front of her, and she was overjoyed! They made special food for her - and greeted her with a mango with sticky rice at the end. The experience there is always amazing, but they really take great care of you there! We went on a Friday evening so it was quite crowded initially but the crowded lightened past 8:15 PM. We got outdoor seating, which although had a lot of ants that we had to keeping shooing away, but was perfect for the spring weather. The service was a bit slow since they seemed understaffed. But the servers were extremely kind and nice. I requested soft tofu in my red curry and they were nice enough to accommodate my request. The red curry lacked flavor and could have had more curry. But the highlight was the Tom Yum Soup!! It was soo delicious, the broth so flavorful, generous veggies and herbs!! Loved it! read more

So, living in Fairfax City, we are very lucky to be surrounded by many Thai spots. But because of that, there's a lot of competition for good food, haha. I took a risk coming to this spot I've never tried, but thankfully it was totally worth trying :) Vegetarian Friendly: 100%. One of the reasons I love Thai is because it's very vegetarian-friendly and you can customize a lot of dishes to be vegetarian. Decor: I like the decor for the most part--I don't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I'm not trying to make this a bad thing, btw, but just an interesting observation. Food Ordered: So we had a Pad Thai and Red Curry (subbed rice for noodles). Food Breakdown: I really loved both items. The Pad Thai was almost addictive--I could have ordered another one, tbh, haha. I think it's because they were really good about the amount of tofu and the bean sprouts. The Red Curry was good and spicy. I was really happy about the fact that they subbed the rice for noodles. Not much to say--just really solid, and my mom really enjoyed it :) Portion Size: It was really good. But we couldn't finish either dish, which means we got our money's worth. Service: I really loved the service--the servers that day really held it down despite it being a Friday night. Price: So because it's in Fairfax City, it's more expensive because of the city tax, but even for that, I can't knock this place. Would I Go Back? This Thai restaurant was a great experience from start to finish. We decided to go with recommendations from our server, a very friendly and charismatic guy who made the whole meal more enjoyable. I ordered a creamy fish dish that was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My partner went with the duck dish the server suggested, and honestly he couldn't stop talking about it the entire weekend it was that good. Last time we had come here almost a year ago. I had gotten the flu after eating here, I was especially concerned as I remember the waiter coughing without using a mask. We came back on upon the insistence of our kid, and the service is still friendly though very slow. The food is above average but the quantity is on the lesser side. Also, the parking for this place is a bit challenging, especially on weekdays but even today which is a weekend we had a hard time finding a parking spot. read more

This place is pure heaven! Starting with the exterior and interior, it's nice to have an al fresco setup while enjoying their delicious food. The interior is also quite charming, with all the tables beautifully painted. The service was amazing and very welcoming. Now, the food was on point. From the appetizer Nam Tok (their grilled beef), to the wonton soup, and the entrée Duck Curry, everything was a heavenly bite, rich with flavor. We visited on a Saturday night, close to a holiday, so it wasn't too crowded, but there were still plenty of people enjoying their meals. My go to for Thai! This spot is located in the heart of Fairfax City. This means street parking or parking in a (free) deck about two blocks away. The area has a lot of cute little shops so the walk feels super quick! They have outdoor seating as well as floor to ceiling windows for the sun to shine inside. Art on the walls makes this place feel like a hidden gem. The place is run by a friendly older couple who recognize my husband whenever he orders. You can tell they serve their guests with a lot of love and care. Our go-tos are Pad See Ew and Ramanaya, both non spicy dishes since we have two kiddos who like to share with us. We also love the Larb (spicy salad) and Basil Duck. Check them out on a sunny day for the best experience! read more

This may be my new favorite Thai place. The restaurant is nice and intimate. I drive by it all the time. Lots of indoor seating and some outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. You can park at the public parking garage nearby then walk up the street. The staff is so friendly and sweet and they remember you! Very solid 4! We love Thai and have lived nearby for years but tried for first time in Old Town Fairfax. Parking garage is a block away. We just loved how kind and welcoming they were to our family and came out with a fruit plate for our kid. Wow! Food was good and solid. Had the eggplant with chicken, crispy duck, fried calamari and fried wontons. There could be a little more oomph and flavor but we were happy. Courtside Thai has become my favorite place to get my Thai fix. I dined here a couple of times now, and every time, it feels like I am in good hands. The owners are so courteous and attentive--they are just the sweetest! There is plentiful seating both inside and outside. The restaurant is decorated with fun and colorful decor, even the outside is decorated with seasonal decorations and lots of Thai peppers! You can find parking at a nearby lot or on the street. I suggest looking at Google Maps for options. My favorite menu items here include the Courtside Catfish, Thai Drunken Noodles, and the Gaeng Panang. Don't forget to order a Thai Tea or Thai Coffee to pair with your meal. Everything was delicious and flavorful, and you can tell it was made with love. After I discovered this place, I had to wait nearly 1 and a half years for them to re-open their Fairfax location - but the wait was sort of worth it. Food wise, its slightly more expensive than other Northern Virginia Thai places, but they have a wide assortment of more unique Thai dishes, and the typical ones you'd find at any North American Thai place. The vegetable Pad Thai was decent (though a bit bland in my opinion) and its served on a banana leaf in a plate, which is a nice touch. Establishment wise, Courtside has tons of seating space for inside and outside dining. When we went in the summer, the interior was fully open, which was a nice touch especially since the weather is great around this time. I ordered the Kao Pad with shrimp and Tom Yum with chicken, and both dishes were delicious. The restaurant has a nice, open patio--definitely a great spot to sit on a spring day. The service was excellent; it wasn't too busy, but the staff was very attentive. My carryout order was ready quickly, and the food was flavorful and fresh. Stopped in for dinner, first timers. Wonderful place, walking through the front walk and seeing the thai garden and peppers. We started with a cosmo and an old fashion, it was different but we limed them both. We had the coconut shrimp to start and wow these were great, not heavily breaded and fresh shrimp. My wife had a dish off the courtside section of the menu, had a light broth carrots n onions and added chicken as protein. She liked it. I had the pad see ew with pork, spicy level 2. One of the best Thai restaurants in Fairfax! Their dishes are flavorful and authentic. The variety is great here, my family has a list of go-to dishes such as the sun dried beef jerky with sticky rice, whole fried flounder, tom yum soup (so tasty here), pad kee mao, and grilled beef salad. Their Thai tea has a nice tea color (iykyk) but is a bit on the sweet side for me. They also put effort in the overall presentation of their dishes. The vibe is casual with an overall homey feel. They even have outdoor patio seating. Parking is a bit tricky if you're doing pick-up but during a nice day there is a public garage with more spots that is a quick walk away. The owners are very sweet and kind, typical of Thai hospitality. This place disappoints! read more

We mentioned it to the owner and he brought her a different mild seafood and vegetable dish that was excellent. They are really responsive to customers. I really want to give this place a better rating, as the owners are so nice, but unfortunately, upon trying for the first time, we were told there was a big order before us and to come back in 25 minutes. 25 minutes later when we came back, we were told it still wasn't ready. they made other table's orders who came in after we placed our takeout order and made us wait another 15 minutes. very uncool. food-wise, the highlight was the chicken basil. great. outside of that, we asked for extra sauce for drunken noodle, and they were completely dry. the wonton soup was bland, and, the capper - we found not one, but two long hairs in our drunken noodles. I actually let the first one go, and didn't say anything, but when my girlfriend also found a hair in hers, that was the last straw. we threw the rest out. they could do a lot to improve. first and foremost wearing hair nets when they cook. read more

Delicious Thai food! The jumbo coconut shrimp had a delicious, tangy and sweet dipping sauce that complemented the crispy shrimps very nicely. So yummy - a great appetizer. The ped ka prow grob was amazing - the duck meat was tender and juicy, and the crispy coating was able to soak up all of that sweet and savory honey sauce. The crispy pieces of basil made the dish even more tasty. Service was friendly and food came out in a reasonable time. The interior design was nice and the restaurant felt clean. Good friendly service and good Thai food. The Kiew Grob sound like simple fried dumplings, but they were full of a flavorful meat. The papaya salad was a pleasant mix of pickled veg that really hit the spot. The Pla Ma Muang was super, a perfectly-prepped rainbow trout (I picked off the mango, but I'm someone who doesn't like mango -- everyone else thought the mango made the dish even better).
