    Chicken PAD THAI
    Amy S.

This was terrible! We were highly recommended to try here for authentic Thai food and ordered takeout. My husband's chicken pad Thai was ok, but didn't have much flavor. The grilled squid, which we were so excited about, was decomposing and we threw it away. The summer rolls had completely unripe mango and we threw them away too. At that point I was too disgusted to even try my Tom Yum soup and threw that away too. I just hope we don't get sick from trying the squid. My only thought is that we did order at the very end of the night, maybe if we ordered earlier and/or dined in our experience would have been different.

I haven't been here in probably 10 years. The food is great and I'll try to come back more often. I had the weekday lunch special - pad krapow with chicken. The spring roll was crispy and tasty. It had clearly distinguishable pieces of shredded cabbage it - not like what tries to pass as spring rolls at other places but is really just fried purée of bean sprout. The sweet chili sauce was good. The pad krapow came out spicy. Not Mark Wiens spicy, but good Thai spicy for a restaurant in the US. The type that will induce a mild sweat and cause you to pause between bites. I even pushed a few slices of the green chilies aside for my last few shovelfuls. I highly recommend this place!

5/5 Stars - My Go-To Thai Spot in Herndon! Chao Phra Ya in Clocktower Village is hands down my favorite place for Thai food! Funny enough, in the last three months, I've only gotten takeout about six times. I've never dined in, but I'm sure it's even better when served fresh! I live just 6 minutes away, so I tend to enjoy the meals in the comfort of my own home--but I'll definitely dine in someday. The food is incredibly delicious, and the price is very reasonable ($$). Each dish is well worth the price. My personal favorites are: * Beef Drunken Noodles (perfect spice level) * Shrimp Pad Thai * Shrimp Fried Rice (sometimes with crabmeat) * Penang Curry These four dishes are more than enough to feed 5 adults--trust me, I eat a lot! The portions are super generous, and you'll never leave hungry. One memorable experience was during a snowstorm when I picked up my food, and the owner/manager gave me a free Thai (orange) drink! That's the kind of service that keeps me coming back. To repay their kindness, I always make sure to tip generously. It's all about good karma! If you're in the area, don't miss this spot. I can't recommend it enough!

Cute and spacious interior is welcoming. Currently my go-to restaurant for pad thai even though there are other thai restaurants closer to me. I would say the pad thai isn't 100% consistent and there were a few misses (but still edible) in a row but I still persisted because when they are good, they are REALLY amazing- I am extremely picky with pad thai. I get it spicy and think it tastes better that way personally. The very first time I went, I did have a very long wait for take-out (Saturday dinner) but dining in was not really an issue. Order of recommendation (in terms of tiers) because of personal preference- I think most are really good Strongly recommend: Tier 1) Pad thai, shrimp cake, pineapple fried rice, duck roll 2) kao soi, ka prow fried rice, shrimp roll 3) spicy garlic shrimp, yellow curry, drunken noodles Do not recommend the curry puffs

This thai place is fantastic. Food is delicious and what really stood out was how they cater to kids. From the stuffed animal decor to the kid plates and utensils they are very kid friendly. This makes the experience all the more enjoyable for me as a parent. The ambience is adorable and the food presentation especially the mango and sticky rice was phenomenal! The drink menu looked doo good but didnt try anything this time. Loved how they had a picture of each drink so you know what you will end up getting.

I've been visiting this area for years now and didn't know this place existed! Located in clock tower conplex next to Ned's, this place is a "hidden gem"! The ambiance is not what you would expect when you notice this place from the outside. We went here on a Friday night and the service was prompt - our server was very attentive. We tried papaya salad which was good, veg soup which was very flavorful but the standouts were the red curry with tofu and chicken pad Thai! Pad Thai is a little on the sweet side but does not lack flavors. ++++ points for Shinchan!

When I first walked in, there were adorable Miffy bunny plushies on display and I thought the interior was spacious with such cute decor!! The service was good as our waiter checked in on us twice as we took a bit to order. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it was so flavorful and well balanced! I got a spicy level of 2 (medium spicy) and it was perfect for someone who can't handle super spicy foods that well. There is plenty of parking as it is located in a local shopping center as well! I also appreciate that you can make a reservation here!! I would definitely come again! (One thing to note though is if you come in a party of 5 or more there is an automatic 20% gratuity tip fee.)

Some restaurants are consistent with the way they cook your favorite dishes that you keep going back year after year. This is one of those cozy neighborhood Thai restaurant. I've been eating there since my kids were babies. They have seen them grow up. The dishes we always get are some combinations of Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, Chef Fried Rice, Raad Na, or Pad Thai. We also get their Fried Spring Rolls and Papaya Salad appetizers. The servers are friendly making your dinning experience enjoyable. However, if you go there during their busy time, be prepare to wait for seating and food. They do get busy!

Food was fair, it as flavorful as most Thai. I had the shrimp pad Thai. Their iced tea was AWFUL... not stale....awful. Shrimp rolls were hot and crispy but boring. I would recommend finding another place

Had been to one of our friends birthday . Was travelling to Leesburg and found this restaurant from Google reviews . 4.5 stars on Google and we thought of going there . Nice interiors and parking facilities . Atmosphere was cozy and we liked it from inside.. Service could be much much better . Everyone who was working there , always go back in the area behind the bar, and chit chat there . You have to get up from table , and keep calling them to get to ur table . The guy was a little bit annoyed and when we told that one of the dishes is a bit raw , he kept denying and never spoke in a toned-down voice . And then it was my friends birthday and I asked him if he can get a small cake with a candle and he said he will check . He never came back with any answers. Disappointing ! Most of the food items were good though . Drunken noodle was really good . Thai curry and rice was also good . My friends had shrimp and they liked it . The only thing which wasn't tasting fresh was the dumpling . They have a small bar with few varieties of beer and cocktails . Overall a decent experience but could have been better .. 3 stars !

Well, fast forward about 3 years since my last visit/review. The food is just as delicious as before, however, the lunch portion has drastically changed from "large portions" to barely a portion. While the prices remain the same, or probably increased. Due to this reason, I gave 4 stars. We ordered the thai spicy fried rice (again) and it did NOT disappoint. I just wish there was more to enjoy. I will definitely return as this is my favorite Thai spot in this area.

We were pleasantly pleased that the bistro did not have a wait and we were seated immediately without reservations. Looks like there is also outside seating once the weather really warms up. The menu consisted of many familiar items. Many of the dishes allowed for a choice of protein. For my entree, I went with the shrimp pad see ew. Though the portion was generous and the noodles were cooked well, the dish was a bit too salty for my taste. It also had a noticeable kick of white pepper, which I actually enjoyed - but the salt was overpowering. Unfortunately, not only did I finish a glass of water at the restaurant, I found myself grabbing another glass after getting home. La Ong is low-stress dining in a cozy spot. Service was friendly and parking was a breeze with plenty of spaces.

Not pictured here but the Crispy Pork Belly with sticky rice was the star for me. We tried several other dishes, but this one really stood out. It was so good that we were craving it again just a few days later and ended up going back. Even thinking about it now is making me crave it again. In the photo is their papaya salad and another dish that I believe was siomai. I am not completely sure of the name, but it was good as well. The restaurant is easy to find since it is right next to a Starbucks. If you enjoy Thai food and love crispy pork belly, this dish is definitely worth trying.

I actually want to rate this meal 2.5 stars but since I can only give whole stars here, I'm giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. I think it can still be pretty good, but not with the dishes we ordered. We came for lunch and ordered off the lunch special menu. That meal comes with the entree, and either a vegetable spring roll and chicken lemon grass soup, or a vegetable spring roll and vegetable lemon grass soup. They offer a third alternative of two spring rolls as well which I think is a pretty nifty option. The two entrees we had were the vegetable tofu drunken noodles and the chicken sweet basil (pad krapow). The spring rolls were fine. Crispy on the outside, cabbage on the inside. The soup was unfulfilling. It tasted a bit like lemongrass soup but it was not tasty. For the entrees, we were able to adjust the spice level: I went for "hot" (3 out of 4 of their scale), while my dining partner went for "medium" (2 out of 4) on the drunken noodles. At most Thai restaurants, these two dishes generally have a similar flavor profile. Here, they do, indeed, have a similar profile between themselves. However, the sauce was quite red. It had a vinegary overtone and possibly some tomato base to it. It did not match the pad krapow flavor profile that I've found at basically every other Thai restaurant I've been to (in the United States and Thailand). It could be this is an authentic version I'm just not familiar with, but I really did not like it. Overall, Thai Luang is a decent place. Perhaps some of the other dishes and curries are good, but there are too many other Thai restaurants in NOVA these days for me to use up a meal coming back here.

They were slammed. And I think they did a great job with the demands of the patrons. Let me explain the 1 star rating. My friend raised her glass to take a sip of her cocktail. The entire bottom broke from the top and spilled the contents over 4 people. Half my pants leg was covered. Another had her purse drenched. Another her shoes were soaked. The one with the drink - her entire pants was soaked. My friends husband talked to the bar manager and he said he would comp us (4) a drink. So we told the bartender what our friends husband said. The bar manager came over and said he is only going to comp my friends drink that exploded. We all looked at him like "WTF just happened?" His bar back cleaned up the mess around us and saw all the liquid on the ground and stools. I don't even think they check to see if we were ok. The 3 of us paid our tabs and left. I haven't been to Tiki Thai much this year but when I had, I never had an issue. The service from the bar manager was appalling to say the least.
