Tbh the duck wasn't bad but we had to order rice separately and there wasn't much actual meat on the duck. Lots of sauce and flavoring though The Pad Thai was disappointing. Really thick with sauce, far too sweet, and had a tang in it that isn't typically in normal pad thai (lemongrass? Mint? I just realized Pad Thai Restaurant is a female owned business. Love to support small businesses, but it's even cooler when it's a female owned small business. I haven't had a single dish that I have not enjoyed here. This recent visit I ordered the Ka Pow basil chicken ( ground chicken). This was my first time going with the ground chicken. Found that I prefer it over the sliced chicken. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They are also good about asking you about how spicy you'd like your dish. I went with the medium spicy which has a decent amount of spice. This is a safe choice for an edible spice level. They are finally back open for indoor dining! They do require a mask. 2/11/23 After doing some shopping, it time to get someone to eat. My wife picked the restaurant today and today it is Pad Thai. Tje ratings are high so we will see how things go today. We turned out to be the first guests so far. I went with the appetizer Chrispy Dumplings ($5.99) and my wife went with a meal of Drunkin Noodles aka Kee Moa Met the owner of Pad Thai Ms. Noi. A charming young lady full of wit and grace. I learned she is the onwer of this restaurant for nearly 20 years. It is a family run. The woman behind me in pink is Noi's sister (for name sake Shelly). The Chrispy Dumplings have no meat in them and are delicious. I ordered 2 of them. The Drunkin Noodles I did not try, because it is spicy...my wife loves spicy food. The music playing right now acoustic guitar with spanish themes. Not sure of the song. Okay I looked it up. 2 The Night (Fast Cars/4 Frank) Song by Ottmar Liebert. The music is setting the mood. Dessert turned out to be Sticky Rice with Mango. The mango did not last 5 minutes. The rice was okay for me, but I think I would have rather eaten a whole mango. I will be sure to let Ms. Noi know this for next time. Before leaving, Ms. Noi noticed my card for Relax Rite Massage. We had plans to get a massage and Ms. Noi was surprised to learn the cost was so low. I gave her information on who to see so she might make an appointment with Cindy or Amy. We were greeted immediately and ordered Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Chicken Lo Mein. The food was delivered hot within 10 minutes of ordering and everyone enjoyed their entree. The owner & staff were very pleasant and the restaurant is quiet enough to have a conversation. Music is playing throughout the restaurant. Great food with reasonable prices. Probably not the most authentic or best Thai dishes but great service, good pricing, and generally good food. The seats along the wall are very comfy, with pillows. The fish cake appetizer is good; it has a bit of spice embedded within. The calamari, I would skip it next time. Really all about the breading. Not much calamari. The seafood hot pot is good, though they are very stingy on seafood. Overall it's good, it's just filled with tofu. But then the price reflects this somewhat. So I can't complain. read more

Listen here, we were fooled by the reviews and I don't want that to happen to you. Of all the Thai places I've been too this was by far one of the worst. The Thai iced tea was very small, with a lot Of ice...chicken wings were overcooked, the pad Thai was watery and had a strange taste...with a name like pad Thai you would think this would be the best Padthai ever right? Wrong. To top it off both of our meals were cooked wrong after she verified with us twice how we wanted them cooked, then just says "well that's how the chef is used to making them"....help me understand here. Got charged for extra egg, didn't receive extra egg. The service was terrible and very slow. All I left that restaurant with was disappointment, a bill for things I didn't recieve and heartburn. Delicious lunch at Pad Thai! I had the crispy watercress salad which was tempura fried watercress topped with cilantro, red onions, cashews, chicken breast and two nice sized shrimp. This was topped with a bright citrusy sauce and really hit the spot. Fast service, and ice cold beer were also a plus. The interior is a bit tired, and there was someone watching a very loud and violent movie at a nearby table, which did detract from our meal a bit, but for $13, that salad made it worth it! read more

It is consistently outstanding; we get take out from them about every other week despite the fact it's 5 miles from home and not on our normal commuting route. It's clear that everything is made fresh to order (it nuclear hot when you pick it up) - and I've never had a bad batch. For a long time this was my go to spot for Thai food. Lately it seems like the quality has diminished. The pad Thai was very dry and seemed unusually colored. The Crispy basil duck was not great. The duck was fried for way too long and wasn't crispy but tough and chewy. The flavor of duck was completely absent probably from the over cooking as well. I was planning on the Som Tum, but I noted a soup I've not had before - the Poh Taek - which is a spicy broth with seafood and Thai herbs - the soup had mushroom, red onion, green bell pepper, and some other veggies and herbs I could not identify, plus shrimp, mussels, and squid - it was good - 4 Stars for the soup. Pad Thai stumbled on the Papaya salad. I'm a big fan of this dish, so I'm a bit critical when it's done poorly. It just had no kick or zip to it. And things were not as crunchy and fresh as they should have been. Most places I've been serve the salad on a bed of crisp Romaine lettuce - which itself is delicious after sitting in a zippy lime dressing. Maybe Romaine was not available today - but they served it on a bed of crappy, weak looking iceberg lettuce that had seen better days. And instead of firm, juicy cherry or grape tomatoes, they substituted mushy chunks cut from regular tomatoes. And the whole thing just lacked the spicy zip that I've come to expect when eating Papaya salad. 2 Stars for the Papaya salad. The service was attentive. They have a pre-set lunch menu with about six entirely forgettable items, that are a basic "Asian" stir-fries and fried rices. Their $8 price point includes a bamboo shoot-and-tofu soup (???) and a pre-made spring roll. While that sounds like a deal for lunch, I think you can do far better in terms of getting a meal that sounds less like "veggies out of a can" tossed in a broth... The price point is on par with a DC truck lunch, but at a sit down restaurant. Because I wanted to check out the true hand of the cook here. I chose their interesting sounding Seafood Pattaya. The spice did not disappoint. The gravy was more watery than rich. The concoction of seafood was A-OK, but in total I felt that there could have been a few more flourishes with more of a basil garnish, better presentation, and more vegetables (the eggplant was rather scant!). The cook came out and ate her own lunch in her own bowl towards the end of the lunch hour and I wondered what she had concocted for herself, in her large soup bowl. I would have enjoyed a more 'native kitchen' experimental soup concoction myself! The price point for the seafood was rather too high. With tip I ended up paying approximately $20 for lunch and I felt it was exaggerated for the presentation and the dish that was served. read more

The Beau got crispy duck, I got chicken pad thai and green tea. Food took little to no time to come out. Clean, whimsical feel to restaurant; real small (long and narrow). Waitress is super nice and accommodating. Duck was very crispy and spicy sweet. The pad thai was good. This is my favorite place for duck so far (I've sampled it at 2 other Thai places-- the Beau gets this dish everytime). However, the Beau said it was only "good" compared to his favourite spot, simply because Pad Thai's style is similar to Chinese General Tso's. My dish had small slices of mango in it, very few scallions, plenty of bamboo shoots and peanuts, eggs and decent sized pieces of chicken. Went here last night for a quick dinner after running errands. To my surprise the entire restaurant got a makeover. Its very modern, clean and brightly lit. My daughter even commented that the bathrooms were soooo clean and had fresh flowers inside. Ordered a few things and it all came out quickly. Pad thai with chicken was a but lighter in color than what i am used to but this was surprisingly super flavorful. The balance of flavors, softness of the noodles and peanut sauce was on point. Minimal on the garnish like beansprouts, green onion and there was no lemon on the side. But it didnt need all that to make it good. Pad see ew with chicken was also flavorful and had that amazing wok smoke/smell/taste. The noodles were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of chicken. Ordered a curry i have never tried before and was surprisingly pleased. Massaman curry with chicken, potatoes and whole peanuts. Amazing! Not too salty and they must have fried the potatoes first because it had a crunchy outter coating, chicken was thinly sliced and tender. The peanuts added an amazing crunch/texture. Highly recommended. You have to try the crispy duck basil dish. We opted for a medium heat so my kids couldnt try it but is was great. The crispiness was amazingly balanced. Not too oily but had a tempura like sweet batter coating on semithinly sliced duck. I didnt notice the basil too much. So i wish it had more of it?!?! We didnt order dessert because we were so stuffed from eating all the food. Maybe next time! Overall the dishes were awesome and we cant wait to return. The service was also great. Not your typical trendy hip Thai restaurant, but definitely very authentic. Feel like you can't go wrong with anything here. Lunch specials are so worth it tho. $7.99 for a big portion meal with either an appetizer or soup (chef's choice). For to try the Kapow chicken which was a little spicier than expected but still delicious. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew was also very delicious!! Those are good go-to's. I only noticed this place cause my nail salon is a few doors down. The interior is cute with a nice choice of seats, tables, and cushions. Good service and my food came out quickly. I started off with tom yum soup, as I've never tried before. Although I did not prefer the smell, the soup tasted pretty good. There were about 3-4 shrimp and the cilantro tasted fresh. I also ordered drunken noodles with beef at a 2 out of 3 heat, and I've gotta say this is the best I've had. Walked in at 1115- they open at 11, I walk in- owners sitting at a table- no greeting, I'm awkwardly standing there for about a minute- and finally as if I seat myself- no sign. The menu.... I can't tell if it's a Chinese restaurant or Thai- they had a lunch special menu that was laminated on top of a two page menu that head not laminated- had food stains and writing in pen on it.
