Yes,....Pad Thai at a Chinese restaurant

Great service at this family owned restaurant with a vast selection of food. Really wanted to go thai but my dining buddies wanted Chinese,...but in the end I got what I wanted, a really large plate of tasty pad thai. Had a nice serving of egg drop soup first. Nice decor at this restaurant and easy parking. Highly recommended Old Peking! Have never been disappointed coming here.

ordered dinner tonight at 16:22 pm cost $117.82 {with tax} If you are considering of ordering here, please go elsewhere!! The spring egg rolls and the crab Rangoon they were either cooked in old oil or they were re-cooked either way I paid for this garbage! The Orange chicken white meat and the General Tso's white meat was extremely dry and also tasted like old fried oil. When I called to complain, the woman who answered the call- was apologizing profusely. Then she stated the next time....I wouldn't give her a chance to finish the statement. In a restaurant Quality control must be maintained at all times there is no next time. When companies go on the defense right away and then get mad at you, you can only wonder why? If you have money to spend on a meal, don't spend it here. If you do, you have no one to blame but yourself. I hope I don't get sick with what I've consumed! This restaurant has been on my radar for quite a while. Yet we only recently made our way there. They have been opened for almost 33 years which speaks to their popularity---and we now know why having been there twice at this point. We found the staff to be friendly, polite and efficient. The dining area is small yet you don't feel cramped. As for the menu, we liked that there were some old school entrees that aren't often seen in Chinese restaurants these day. For example, they have moo shi (chicken, beef and pork) and moo goo gai pan. They also have a few Thai entrees (Pad Thai and drunken noodles, for example). Each time we've been there it has been on a Sunday around 5 p.m. At that time of day, few people are dining in. However, they seem to do a robust take out business. This is what we've tried so far: Soups---hot and sour soup, wonton soup and egg drop soup. We both agree that the hot and sour soup is just okay as it seems to skimp on both the hot and the sour. My husband had wonton soup and said the broth was mild and the wontons were generously filled with pork. I tried the egg drop soup. Some Yelpers feel it's the best they've ever had. Since I hadn't had egg drop soup in years, thus I can't really make that claim. However, it did have a nice, mild flavor as well as a silky texture. Entrees --- chicken with garlic sauce, moo shi beef, ma po tofu and Hunan beef. My husband was really impressed with the chicken with garlic sauce saying the garlic flavor came through very clearly. I only sampled some of his and agree about the garlic flavor. I had the moo shi beef and was quite impressed. The beef was of good quality---very tender. The plum sauce, however, was flavorful but very thin. I would have preferred a thicker consistency. This dish comes with 4 pancakes. Just beware that the portion is huge! I ended up taking half of it home. The leftovers held up very well---even the pancakes. My husband agreed with my take on this dish. None went to waste. The second trip, for entrees, we had Hunan Beef and ma po tofu. Again, the beef was excellent! We enjoyed the flavorings but we wished that there was a better variety of veggies in it, rather than just broccoli, button mushrooms and carrots. Seeing the button mushrooms was a disappointment as this dish tends to have straw mushrooms. The ma po tofu, which is a vegetarian version, was quite good. It had just enough spice in it and the tofu cubes were cut on the large size. Again, button mushrooms showed up. This dish (which I sometimes make at home) tends to have shiitake mushrooms in it. We plan to return again and try more dishes. Just note that not all chicken dishes have white meat in them. Some do---and they charge more for all white meat. Others only have dark meat, and some are a mix of the two. So, if you like chicken and want white meat, be sure to ask when you place your order.

The place itself is quite small for dine in, but I'm pretty sure that's not their target so we were able to get a seat for 2 pretty easily on a Friday evening. We got mostly "ABC" comfort foods - orange chicken, Yangzhou fried rice, Singapore rice noodles - and an order of their dumplings in spicy sauce (a bit surprising as it's a more northern China style compared to the rest of menu). It was definitely a bit much for just 2 of us but we intended to take home leftovers. All of it was delicious, cooked to spec, but what really makes them stand out is their superior "wok-hei"; it is the soul of wok-style dishes and compliments to the chef(s) - they absolutely know their craft and it shines in the flavor. This craftsmanship is lost in the new generation and it's a real treat to see it preserved here out of all places. Dumplings were splendid. Juicy and handmade, definitely hits that nostalgic nook from the back of your head. tldr; charming Chinese takeout spot with superb wok-hei in their dishes

The place was filling up and the ambiance reminds me of a traditional bustling noodle house - perfect for the cold snap we were experiencing at the time. We got hot and sour noodle soup, sichuan beef noodle soup, and an order of their pork soup dumplings. Portions are generous and prices are fair, it's easy to become a regular here if you live nearby. The hot and sour noodle soup is as advertised - just enough spice to complement the sour, but not overwhelm to make it feel like mala. It's served, as expected, with glass noodles, some bak choi, and some pork slices. Nothing spectacular but par for the course. The sichuan beef noodle foon soup was slight notch better. The broth gives really warm vibe and you can tell it's been brothing for a long time. Again just the right amount of spicy to make you keep slurping for more. The noodles were average, chewy, but not bouncy. Also comes with a healthy amount beef slices and bak choi. Again - a great noodle soup bowl but nothing jaw dropping. Soup dumplings were fantastic, however. The pork definitely has its own marinade and the soup is flavorful. The dumpling skin is well constructed and complemented well with the noodle soups - especially in cold weather. tldr; solid noodle soup spot, they seem to be consistent and really hits the mark when you're in a for your noodle fix. Soup dumplings are probably a must get side dish with whatever your main is

It arrived still crackling on the plate, tender and packed with smoky, slightly sweet flavor. The tofu shrimp dish was another surprise favorite -- light but comforting, with silky tofu and perfectly cooked shrimp that paired really well together. For something more classic, the chicken and string beans hit the mark. The chicken was juicy, the string beans stayed crisp, and the garlic sauce tied everything together without overpowering the dish.
