The food here is very hit or miss. Some dishes are decent, while others feel rushed or disappointing for the price. What really concerns me though is that they still use metal staples to seal delivery bags. That's a completely unnecessary food safety risk since staples can fall into the food or packaging and accidentally be swallowed. Many restaurants have switched to stickers or adhesive seals, so continuing to staple food bags feels careless and outdated. Hopefully management addresses this before someone gets injured. read more

Last time I was at the auto shop and saw this small establishment with their delivery cars--been wanting to try it out for a while now! If you're working and want a quick and filling lunch, you go here. I got the beef and broccoli lunch special and it came with an egg roll. The egg roll was crispy and big but filling ratio was mostly cabbage. The beef and broccoli was a bit too liquid-y and was missing the wok heat flavor. The lo mein was pretty good but a bit too liquid-greasy; my boyfriend had to doctor it up with these Japanese bachan sauce. The hunan beef tasted exactly like the beef and broccoli and the sauce was very neutral and the beef tasted like... well beef! Broccoli still had its crunch! Overall, it's a good choice if you want a filling meal, and I'm glad this establishment exists. A lot of workers come here and they do good business, and they are fast. Their prices have also not gotten too high due to inflation and they make great deals. Not the most flavorful American Chinese restaurant I've been to, but it works! Quick grab and go and small but clean place. Probably I should have asked for more spicy, and maybe the general tso or orange chicken instead. Cheap, good, and fast. You usually don't get all three, but once in a blue moon you do and if you don't want to wait for a moon that's blue, pull up to China Express! Hole-in-the-wall with no sit-down area is why I believe they are able to keep the prices down, and food quality up! I've been ordering from this place every two weeks for the past three months, and if I had to sum it up in one word: consistency. My usual order includes Triple Delight Kung Pao, Szechuan Crispy Beef, Super Spicy Kung Pao Chicken, House Lo Mein, and House Combination Fried Rice--and every time, the quality is top-notch. The Triple Delight Kung Pao is fantastic, featuring beef, chicken, and jumbo shrimp. The meats are always tender, and the shrimp are deveined and perfectly cooked. The Szechuan Crispy Beef is super crispy on the outside with a caramelized sauce, yet the inside stays tender and flavorful--not dry at all. I always get my entrées super spicy since my wife prefers milder flavors. The Super Spicy Fried Rice is incredible--not overly greasy, yet packed with protein and bold flavors. Best thing on menu is Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce with Bamboo Shoots. We ordered on Christmas night and picked it up in Tysons. I have been a loyal customer for 20 years. Yum! This place is literally a hidden gem! It is pretty difficult to locate but once you do, you shouldn't have any problem parking. I ordered the general tso's lunch order. The food was delicious and was ready so fast! It really is just a quick in and out type of place. No sitting area just a register and a fridge to choose a drink from. If you want Chinese quick, this is the place to go. The guy at the register was so nice! Chinese food is a little too filling for me especially for lunch but definitely wouldn't mind grabbing again for dinner. read more

This place used to be an absolute gem. I started taking out from it in 2002. I am wondering if there has been a change in ownership. Using a delivery service, I ordered Ma Po Tofu, hot and sour soup, and steamed meat dumplings. Ma Po Tofu used to come in a meat sauce, and had silky tofu. It was heaven. Meat sauce is no longer on the menu and the tofu is now hard. It was unrecognizable to the dish I had ordered for 8 years and was frankly terrible. The soup used to have whole pieces of tofu, other veg, and a darker broth with pleasant bite. It is now a clear broth, with shredded tofu and little bite. I don't understand these clearly intentional changes. The kitchen is the size of 2 closets but was capable of turning out 4.2 food. The three stars I gave was too high in the hopes they resume old preparations. read more

Phenomenal Chinese takeout fare! I ordered the most basic comfort food - shrimp fried rice and egg rolls. Delightfully surprised at how fresh the rolls are, a perfect companion to any lunch special. I'm not even from here but my homegirl says good ethnic food is really hard to come by over here. The two of us come from California and we talk about our favorite (American) Chinese dishes. General Tso's chicken is one of them. We were pleasantly surprised to see the option of "make me cry" spicy. I have a love hate relationship with that dish because when it's made well, it's pretty damn good, and disappointing when it's not. It was sweet, savory, and spicy. The chicken was crispy and the sauce was that nice consistency which they did not skimp out on! There was enough to cover the chicken and the rice when we plated it. We also used DoorDash pickup and we left a request in the comments to really make the point that we want this stuff "Chinese spicy." We've had better but we were not disappointed. When it comes to spice, we're borderline masochistic, so we were hoping our lips would be burning. Also, shout out to the staff member who asked if I still wanted the chili oil to which I said yes, to which he replied "well, we tried to make it as spicy as we could but here you are." If that's not customer service, I don't know what is. As far as ambience, there is none. This is a no frills establishment whose purpose is to make quality Chinese food, nothing more. You pick up from here, whether it's for you and your family or if you're picking up for a work potluck because they do cater. If it's for yourself, they've got lunch specials but a la carte would guarantee leftovers for sure with those generous portions. Also, those potstickers are worth the wait. They're made in house and fresh. Just be careful, they're really juicy. So full of flavor that you don't even need the sauce. Don't say I didn't warn you. Getting there to pick up is kinda wacky. If you go down a driveway and you see USPS trucks on the other side of a fence, you've missed the turn. Google maps be messing up. Gotta enter by the Oriental Rug place and head down that alley. The meat dumplings, won ton soup, shredded chicken in black bean sauce, and chef's specialties are all delicious and reasonably priced. My daughter particularly loves the beef and broccoli entree. I had a taste for wings and fried rice at around 9PM last night and ended up getting China Express. Yummyyy. The price for the amount of food you get is amazing! I mean an entire container of fried rice with five wings on top for $9? Who can complain. I also got orange chicken for the first time in a long time and I must say this is one of my favorites from anywhere (also comes with rice). One thing is I wish there was a bit more seasoning without adding sauces in the fried rice. It's cooked perfectly, so just a little bit more seasoning would go a long way. This past week we had a winter luncheon for our teachers. Prior to ordering catering, we had lunch delivered and it was a thumbs up. When we reached out for our catering order, we worked with the catering lead, Terry. From start to finish, Terry was wonderful to work with. He helped us make sure that we ordered enough and that the portions would feed our crowd. He confirmed the day before and made recommendations to reduce possibility of allergens. Terry and his assistant arrived on time and helped to set up our meal. The volume of food was generous and Terry even donated Spring Rolls and Egg Rolls as a kindness. Our staff was so appreciative and complimentary about the food. We had enough left over to serve lunch the following day. We are so appreciative of Terry and his staff for taking such good care of our team. read more

Carry out from China Express is just like you'd expect from a carry out Chinese restaurant. Actually it was better than I'd expected. I was home while sick this week and American Chinese is a solid comfort food choice for me when I'm not feeling great. Their chicken and corn soup. Yum. They even gave us crispy wonton strips to add it was decent! The egg rolls were crispy and tasty. The vegetable fried dumplings had a good amount of filling and decent flavor. The vegetable fried rice had a generous amount of fresh vegetables in it. Lots of broccoli florets which I've not ever seen in fried rice but a pleasant surprise. The vegetables weren't overcooked. They were still somewhat crunchy so that was also a nice surprise. The Kung Pao chicken was a lot of chicken. Normally it's overwhelmed with peanuts and celery; however, there was no celery (which I was happy about) and spiced nicely. The General Tso's chicken was also nicely spiced and with large chunks of chicken. My partner picked up our food so I can't comment on the ambiance of China Express. I'd definitely order from here again if craving American Chinese food. It's a solid 4 stars! We even have plenty of leftovers for another two meals read more

The food is good and historically, this has been our go to. The last three times I've ordered from them they haven't followed instructions. I ordered a dish that had chicken, beef, and shrimp but asked that they leave the shrimp out. All three times shrimp was included. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

I hate giving these types of reviews but want to make sure people who order (especially those who make minor changes to orders)) pay attention to their bill. I don't eat meat and ordered a common chicken dish but subbed tofu. I've ordered the same dish at almost every Chinese restaurant. I always call in my orders directly to local businesses than order through a delivery service to further support them. At no point in my conversation with the guy taking my order over the phone does he mention any types of surcharges. I get there to pick up my food and noticed the cost to be a bit pricer. I checked the bill, sure enough he charged me $4 dollar extra for subbing. So a dish I normally get for $13-15 at every Chinese restaurant is now $20 bucks! I thought the worse part was the up-charges but it wasn't, it was the attitude of the cashier, he was so defensive. I simply told him, you should disclose the up-charges to customers, and that I have never had this type of issue before to which he said, 'We have been in business for over 30 years- you should go somewhere else'. It was a mixture of arrogance and rudeness that I just can't get over. Oh the best part, he told me subbing tofu instead of chicken for the dish, (that he charged me extra for ) was a FAVOR he did for me since they never do modification. I don't see this disclaimer on their website but oh well. Luckily there are plenty of great Chinese restaurants in the area that have really nice people that work there. Pretty good Chinese food! Sometimes you just get that craving for some really good Chinese food after watching your favorite tv show or Netflix binge. I looked on Yelp for somewhere that delivers and voila! Stumbled upon this place. I've only ordered from here once so far, and so far so good! The quality is good. Delivery was super quick! It came in about 20 minutes when they quoted about 45 minutes. That's impressive. The egg drop soup had a lot of egg in it and didn't have too much corn starch. The wonton strips that it came with was a little stale though. I also ordered lo mein and crispy shredded beef. The Lo mein wasn't too oily. The crispy beef is a must!
