We ordered here a few times. The last two times have been disappointing. First our fried rice had two hairs in it. The second time, was actually comical. We ordered a pick-up and the person who took our order got it wrong and we received the wrong dishes. I called to inform them of this, and drove the 20 minutes back to receive the correct order, and also dropped off the incorrect one. It is very tasty, healthy and filling I'm married to a Chinese woman who is an amazing cook who is very picky about food and she likes this place as well. Delicious, cheap and tasty food! This is tucked right into a shopping center close to my place, and the staff are so nice. Once you head on inside, it looks pretty cramped by the register, with a lot of supplies by there. There is a good amount of seating inside though, with the menu pricing on the window by the entrance, by the register, and takeout menus to bring home (along with business cards). I was just not in the mood to cook anything at home and by boyfriend and I were in the mood for Chinese takeout, so we decided to finally try this place out. I ordered the fried chicken wings with fried rice and he ordered the orange chicken. Both totaled to about $24-$25, without tip. The orange chicken is made with actual oranges, they used it and placed some of the peels in the orange chicken itself. It was super crispy and a light/ refreshing sauce. The fried chicken with fried rice was very well worth the price, about $10.95 for dinner and it's $8.95 for lunch! You get 6 wings/ drums and the fried rice. Not too salty, and the fried chicken was still crispy when I brought it home in the takeout container. It's definitely a bargain meal for takeout, and would come here again! read more

The menu options and food are no different from your typical Chinese takeout place. However, the appearance of the restaurant made me question the cleanliness of my food. The chicken in my food was chewy, and it made me wonder how one makes a chicken chewy when cooking it. The homestyle tofu was okay, but it kinda looked and tasted like leftover vegetables were thrown together in a brown sauce. I also would have liked more tofu. The lighting is dim, and the overall furnishings and decor looked old. Through the curtains that separate the dining room from the kitchen, I could see the staff in the kitchen, and they looked miserable and bored. It looked pretty dark in there too. I also felt uncomfortable because various people in the kitchen kept staring out at me from the kitchen. I am impressed though with the cashier's ability to receive orders completely in Spanish and also assist with menu selection in Spanish. This place was picked on a lark, and we discovered a GEM! The mooshoo pork was a smoky umami delight and the General's chicken was crispy outside but tender inside. Last night I ordered From Hunan Tasty. It was awful! The wonton soup had a beef broth that had no flavor. The sautéed Crystal scallops and veg, had boiled scallops with what looked like a can of cold baby corn thrown on top and some frozen peas and carrots. And the veg moo shi was a pile of brown unappetizing stringy stuff. I was so disappointed. I know it was New Years, but still expected more. I e had their food before and it was very good. read more

Definitely my local go to place for classic Americanized Chinese food takeout. All the staff are very friendly, prompt, and reliable service. They still implement all COVID precautions, even the pens. They package the meals in reusable containers with very well fitting lids, and cardboard separators so nothing tips and spills. Love all the Yu Shiang entrees with generous portions with leftovers for DAYS. Ribs are large and meaty, and sooo tasty. Crab Rangoons are very large and generously filled, and crispy; unfortunately they don't provide the warm dipping sauce and only duck sauce packets. Mongolian beef is very good too with large pieces of beef but there were too many onions and don't have the crispy rice noodles on top. Chicken skewers were dry to me but my kid really liked it. She also said they make the best white rice . I wish they would add more authentically made Szechuan entrees while keeping the classic Americanized ones. read more

I ordered delivery from Human Tasty late one Sunday evening and was very pleasantly surprised! My expectations weren't high, as a previous experience several years ago had me wondering if this was a good idea, but I'm so glad I did! Even though I ordered within 30 minutes of their closing time, the food was excellent! I didn't think they'd be too excited to be making a last minute delivery, but they "delivered" on all counts! The food was fresh, piping hot, and the spice level was exactly what I had asked for. I ordered the Szechuan green beans and the Kung Pao chicken. Since I hadn't ordered from them in several, years, I played it safe and ordered medium heat... (next time I know their spiciness levels and can order hotter). This has been our go-to Chinese delivery for years. A cheat I use to quickly judge the quality of Chinese spots is if they have Crispy Shredded Beef on the menu or not. Not only do they have it, but it's some of the best I've ever had. The food always delivers hot and much more quickly than expected, every time. Hunan Tasty isn't much to look at. What can I say? It's a Chinese takeout place. They can't all be Mama Chang's. They have very solid take-out and they give generous portions. My husband and I got the Peking duck. It was soooo good. One duck was enough for two meals for us each. We also got some Singapore noodles. I never used to like Singapore noodles until I tried these. They are made with a spice blend that numbs your mouth in a good way. I'm a fan. I'll be back to Hunan Tasty on my laziest days. read more

we have lived in the area for some times, but haven't frequented this restaurant for some time until today. this place is popular with contractors and their workers at lunch . I went in for a carry out this evening . The place looks like a storage area with boxes everywhere, however that is irrelavant for this review. I ordered two entrees and I was over charged for both the items in comparison to what was on the printed menu. When I complained to the lady at the cash, she blamed the computer and did nothing to fix the issue. I was very disappointed and left with a bad taste for being taken for a ride. I will not go back, especially because the quality of food was average, if that. This is a business that seemed dishonest and doesn't resolve any issues that are brought to their attention. I've taken to calling this place Hunan Nasty as a joke. My friends are in on it too. None of us like this place. Everything is uninspired and usually burnt to a crisp. The place isn't very clean either. Save yourself the headache and go across the road to Old Peking for the most amazing Chinese in the area or at least go a little farther out to any plethora of places that have the same menu as Hunan but the usual quality of Chinese food you'd expect. read more

This place has gone through so many changes of management while retaining the same name, that no review from a few years ago can be valid. Right now, they are OK. The pork fried rice, my go-to, has too-huge chunks of pork, and no onions. So, meh. The egg rolls have never been great, it's just 100% cabbage, so we get them elsewhere. More than meh. The crispy beef, they now seem to have trouble making it crispy, which didn't used to be the case, maybe before the recent change in management. The mu shu pork is still great, as is the hot and sour soup. We recently tried to get something new, we tried kung pao beef, but it was awful, watery, and mosty water chestnuts and some kind of other turnip-y vegetable, very little beef, and we couldn't find the peanuts till we got to the bottom of the soggy sauce. So, the food is uneven, some good, some bad. And don't go at lunch time, they are swamped with all the landscaping crews in Northern Virginia, a huge line out the door, and pre-ordering does not get you out the door ahead of them with their on the spot orders, so prepare to wait at least ten minutes. Still, it's the best takeout place around the Oakton area, so we just have to be careful to order the good stuff, and hope it doesn't go downhill. PS Having a public toilet right next to the takeout counter is not the best placement. Don't get me started. read more

Do not patronize this restaurant. We ordered a take-out lunch this afternoon ( 7/9/20) around 12.45 and were told food would be ready in about 10 minutes. I arrived at around 1 p.m., and paid for the order and waited....and waited. It was well past 1.15 when I asked what was going on and the man at the front counter said it would take a few more minutes. Meanwhile, half a dozen customers who came in after me were picking up their orders and leaving. Around 1.20 I asked again, annoyed it was taking so long. The man at the counter said I could get a refund and leave if I wasn't happy. At 1.25 he handed me the food and I said I wasn't happy at all because it took so long. He said "don't come back!" I returned my food order and got a refund. The guy said he was the owner, when I asked for the owner to complain. Never have I had a restaurant tell me not to come back. Never again....perhaps the store changed hands, as I have been eating here for a number of years. I have always found it to be fairly decent, but average taste. It's the closest to us, though they don't deliver to our neighborhood. I had been sick and craved some shrimp lo mein; which had only about 6 juicy, but very small shrimp and not much flavor. My husband ordered the broccoli and beef and I asked for extra meat, which I believe was an additional $3-4. It came with even less meat than I remember it having without the extra meat. The meat was so heavily covered in garlic, I couldn't manage any of it, and I LOVE garlic. I didn't dare tell my husband that I paid extra for that amount of meat. If I hadn't gotten extra, there couldn't have been any meat. I was totally ripped off. I had wished I had just gotten some egg drop soup, since, like I said, nothing tasted good and my stomach was still upset. So two days later I asked my husband to pick up some egg drop soup, thinking that they couldn't possibly screw that up. Well, I was wrong. It had absolutely no flavor, even after I added soy sauce and fried noodles. So I will never come back. I'll have to find another place as close, but with way better food. My family used to live across the street and order from them for dinner and to cater big family events. I have never had better General Tso's chicken -- they use very little filler, and we were always able to savor the crunch when we would pick it up right away.
