The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. Had a really good first experience at Ocean Crab! Their AYCE menu is a great deal with so many options and a LOT of food. You get 3 appetizers first. We started with the hush puppies, sweet potato fries and chicken wings. All were perfectly fried and tasty. The hush puppies were the highlight. Then we moved onto our seafood. We got a huge platter of snow crab legs, a lobster tail, shrimp and mussels. The seafood came out piping hot and cooked well. I wish the seafood had a bit more seasoning and less chunks of garlic. But, overall enjoyed it! They give you gloves and a bib so you can dig in without worrying getting too messy. One special thing they have on the menu is their ramen side. I've never seen this at other crab boils. The ramen is so tasty in the garlic butter sauce. It was my favorite part and I kept going back for more! We ordered another platter of seafood and were stuffed! The service can be improved. Our waitress came by a few times but not enough to get refills on our drinks or other things we needed. We're pretty new to the Leesburg area, and since there aren't a ton of seafood spots around here, we decided to check out Ocean Crab. The ambiance has a very chill vibe with your typical seafood shack-style decor. One thing to note--it was extremely cold inside, so definitely bring a jacket. They offer both all-you-can-eat and regular menu options. We went with the all-you-can-eat, which is served family-style. You share everything you order, starting with appetizers, then the seafood boil, and sides. Overall, the food was decent. The boil sauce (we chose the "mix of all") was a bit underwhelming--it could've used more seasoning and would've been better if it was poured directly over the seafood instead of served separately, as the seafood itself was pretty bland. We actually enjoyed the starters more than anything else--especially the lemon pepper wings, catfish, and crab balls. First of all, a shout-out to my Yelp friend, Lyn L., who told me about Ocean Crab. We tried it recently and were glad that we went. We arrived there for an early dinner, and they were doing a brisk business. A server greeted us. He told us that he didn't have a booth available and asked if a table would be okay. We told him that was fine, and he took us to a 4-top, which gave us room to spread out. I decided to build my own seafood boil, featuring Dungeness crab, crawfish, and a lobster tail. It also comes with potatoes and corn on the cob. For my sauce, I chose garlic butter with mild seasoning. My husband had the fried shrimp and chose coleslaw as his side. After he finished his shrimp meal, he asked our server to bring him some gumbo. We both had soft drinks to drink. My husband actually ordered a Sapporo beer, but the waiter seemed to think he ordered a Pepsi! (It does get loud in the place.) We were given two paper plates, two bibs, plastic forks, two pairs of gloves, and an implement for cracking the shells. I appreciated that! Additionally, a small bucket lined with a plastic bag is used for disposing of shells. As for the food, I liked my boil. The sauce was okay. It did have a bit of kick to it. Entering the shopping center can be a bit tricky. We got here by driving down Centreville Road (which becomes Walney Road once you cross Route 50). After crossing 50, we took the very first right where there is a bank. After turning right and then left, you will find a strip mall shopping center; the restaurant is in the corner on the left. Place was pretty full for a Monday night, but the servers were all pretty friendly. They seated me in the back (probably knew I'd be an embarrassment to my family if they were with me) and this back room was comfortable, but loud. Sat down and ordered water and a beer and looked into how this worked. Pretty simple - order up to three items off the appetizer list, order up to three items on the seafood list, order up to three extras, order your seasoning, and order your level of spice. I ordered hush puppies, crab bites (mini crab cakes), and Cole slaw. Appetizers were small - two hush puppies and two mini crab bites - and were just ok. I started with a tray that included snow crab, blue crab and clams as well as one small piece of corn and some sausage. Clams were small and about half were empty shells. You can order as many as you'd like, which I appreciated -- and even more so, I liked that the portions were smaller. Some places will fill you up with oversized apps to keep you from the seafood, but Ocean Crab keeps it smart. We tried the crab bites, calamari, fried shrimp, and mozzarella sticks. They were okay -- nothing to rave about, but not bad either. But we weren't there for the apps... We came for the seafood -- and they nailed it. The Old Bay / garlic butter combo was delicious. Rich, flavorful, and not overly salty or greasy. They didn't skimp on anything. The crab leg clusters were fat and perfectly cooked -- tender, juicy, and the meat slid right out of the shells (which true crab lovers know is a rare and beautiful thing). The restaurant itself was clean and spacious with a great vibe -- good music, a solid bar setup, and quick, friendly service. Our server was super attentive, and food came out fast, which made the experience feel effortless and fun. We've hit up most of the unlimited seafood spots in the area, and this one is hands-down the best we've been to. They had an all you can eat for $58 but I didn't have that type of time, so I settled for the Blue Crab boil. 1/2 lb was 6 crabs and it came with corn and two potatoes. For our main seafood spread, we focused on blue crabs, snow crab legs, shrimp, and crawfish, all cooked in mild garlic butter. Everything tasted fresh and was good quality. We also tried several sides--ramen, corn, egg, and sausage--and enjoyed them all. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made things easy for such a large group. Ambiance -The restaurant is spacious and well-lit, with fun Halloween decorations during our visit. It started getting busy around 1 p.m., and soon after there was a short wait for tables. Each guest received a bib/apron and their own crab-cracking tools, which was a nice touch--no need to share! Prices are on the higher side, but that's expected for seafood. Our first visit here and it was really good! I'm not a big shellfish fan, but my family is so we figured we'd give this place a try. Overall, it was really tasty, and I think pretty good value for what you get. This was Valentine's Day evening, so I called the day before and was told they were booked out but we could walk in and be on the waiting list to get seated. We arrived at about 5:35pm. The parking lot here is a mess. There's no easy way to turn into it if you're coming westbound on Rt. 50. You either have to turn south onto Walney, and then a right into the Capital One bank parking lot, or turn left on Sullyfield Cir., then left into a back parking lot and then come around to the front. There were cars jammed up everywhere in this lot and I just parked in the Capital One bank lot. We put our name in at the front and they told us the wait would be about 30 minutes. We got a call back in 30 minutes and got seated with no issues. The ambiance is plain. Not fancy, not casual, but...plain. Even if there is a kayak attached to the ceiling. But once you get into the food, this doesn't really matter much. We ordered the Ocean Jumbo ("2-3 people: 3 clusters snow crab legs, 1 lb. headless shrimp, 1 lb. crawfish, 1/2 lb. green mussels, 1/2 lb. clams, 2 corns, 2 potatoes" - $90). We chose the "mix all" seasoning, medium (2 out of 4 spice levels). We also ordered 1 lb. sausage ($10.49), 1 extra order of corn (3 pcs - $3), and a bowl of gumbo ($4.99). They place a sheet of butcher paper on the table, and there's a large tin bucket with a plastic liner there for all your shells and bits. Each place setting consisted of a plastic bib, a pair of plastic gloves, a foam plate, and a plastic fork. The bib and gloves were understandable but I was put off by the foam plate and plastic fork. Near the end of the meal, I realized why they're used. Even if you're a neat eater, your immediate area will be covered with butter/sauce and bits of shells. Shells and other waste get tied up in the plastic bag, and plates and forks go right to the trash. Glass dishes would just be a pain with this type of dining. I WILL advocate, though, for metal forks. Using the tines to break open small crab legs is not easily done with plastic forks. Enough about all this. How was the food? Great! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. It all tasted very fresh and the flavor of the mix sauce was pretty good. It was not very spicy, so I might get Hot (3/4) next time. The Ocean Jumbo combo is just right for 2-3 people. I strongly suggest adding that extra order of corn AND an extra order of potatoes which I didn't get but should have. With so much sea protein and butter on the platter, you'll need some extra starch. The sausage was a great addition as well. The gumbo was alright. Good flavor and spice, but it tasted like it could have been simmered longer to integrate better. Service was pretty good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The Alaskan crab legs are great... the blue crabs are tiny and not worth it. The sweet potato fries and hush puppies are great sides. Love the sausage as a good mixture to the seafood! My brother visited from Toronto during the holidays, and we decided to check out a seafood boil restaurant to enjoy some of the delicious flavors from Canada. Here's what we discovered: Our family of six dined there on Saturday night and opted for the family meal designed for 4-6 people, which cost $320 plus an automatic 20% gratuity and tax, totaling around $430. The feast included what I believe was 2 pounds of snow crab legs, 3 pounds of headless shrimp, 2 pounds of mussels, 1 pound of crawfish, 2 pounds of clams, 2 orders of boiled eggs, corn, and potatoes, all seasoned with medium heat and lemon pepper. The food arrived relatively quickly, in about 15 minutes, presented in a large rectangular tray covered with a plastic dome. The aroma was absolutely mouthwatering! When the lid was lifted to unveil the impressive seafood spread, the scent had me floating like Pepe Le Pew, completely enchanted. The seafood was cooked to perfection! The shrimp was just right--firm yet plump, tender but not mushy or chewy. Achieving that level of doneness with seafood is no easy feat. The seasoning was spot on, with a delightful garlicky and salty flavor. Whenever we go to a seafood boil, we bring our own latex-free gloves because I'm not a fan of the oversized ones they provide. Those gloves tend to let the sauce seep through, making a mess and leaving an unpleasant smell. I suggest bringing your own gloves for a better experience. It would be great if the restaurant could consider upgrading their gloves as well. In our opinion, this is the best seafood boil spot in the area. The service was friendly and attentive. However, the bathroom was in terrible condition and would likely fail an inspection. Given that it's a seafood boil restaurant, it's expected that patrons will need to wash their hands at some point. The state of the restroom really put a damper on my appetite and made me feel a bit queasy. Dear manager, please pay more attention to all aspects of your establishment, including the bathrooms, as they are essential for maintaining your food license. After a year we decided to come back here for seafood AYCE and disappointed that soft drinks are no longer included. They also charge extra for the sauce if you ask for extra for dipping. The seafood itself is pretty good and fresh. The lemon chicken is bomb! We found the Mix sauce was too salty but enjoyed the garlic butter. Every time we ordered more the server kept discouraging us from ordering "too much" as we would incur the leftover fee. It felt very unwelcoming like she didn't want us to order what we wanted and would suggest a conservative amount to bring out instead. This was my first seafood boil experience and I was impressed. I wouldn't say this was the freshest seafood but the flavor was there. We got the AYCE option and it was well worth the money. Employee 1 : "There's sh*t on the toilet" employee 2: "for real?" E1: "yeah it's on the walls". As my gf and I are peeling our crawfish. Half of them are no good. You can tell because they were squishy. One of our trays of blue crab had all of their claws missing. Kind of ominous. I wondered if maybe this was a reheated batch? The quality was varying in each tray. Some had good quality meat and some were squishy and spongy. Stuck to the shells when peeled. My server was ok but it was annoying having the other employees loudly accuse each other of having sexual kinks while I waited for my seafood to come out. Still can't believe they were so unaware to talk about the fecal matter on their toilet walls as I'm sitting there eating. read more
