    Coastal Flats Training

Wife's birthday and I let them know at the front desk - she takes us back and sits us next to a group of employees in training! Ten minutes (which has never happened) passes and I asked if we could get a waiter. The server says I can take your order, then a few minutes goes by and another server comes by and they take our order. It was not the service from years ago. Also, I order my salmon Medium Rare and it comes out Well done. ...and I had to ask for more water (used to be they were filling water every 5 minutes) - Great American Restaurants are not what they used to be. We did not stay for dessert.

Love all the great American restaurants. Only complaint is they only have booths so for parties larger than 6 you might not sit next to your other table. Service was really good and the food was bomb

Coastal flats has maintained its food quality with a well trained staff. The menu has some overlap across the Great American restaurants with a seafood theme here. Smoked salmon filet had a smoky glaze on top and a rémoulade sauce with cauliflower mash which I really liked along with some broccolini. Tasted the low country ribs which had a tangy vinegar sauce with a refreshing coleslaw and thin crispy fries. Although there are fewer food items on the menu selection and now they charge $1 for a simple 4 piece bread basket, the consistency at Coastal Flats makes it worth coming if you're in the area.

Delicious and amazing! The service was great and the quality of food is excellent! My hubby got the fish tacos and I got the shrimp roll. The cole slaw is outstanding!!! The apple and pecan pie is well worth saving room for .

I'm usually not a "salad for dinner" kind of girl, but after eating junk most of the day I wanted something light and delicious. I've been to Coastal Flats a million times, so I knew they had good food, but the salad I had was AMAZING!! OMG!! The combination of the warm goat cheese, the tomato, the spiced pecans, the cranberry, and the field greens with the champagne vinaigrette was heavenly!! My girlfriend ordered a salad as well (a kind of Thai salad with shrimp and noodles) and hers was amazing too. Then, we split the salmon entree for dinner and it was cooked perfectly. I'm not sure how they're smoking the salmon, but you could taste the smoky flavor throughout. Add to that a nice glass of wine and it was the perfect "light" meal. 10 out of 10!!

Another Great American Restaurant that nails it. The servers are attentive and the food tastes good. I like that there are similarities across menu items at any GAR. We ordered the blue crab & shrimp fritters and calamari to split. The fritters were nice and crunchy with large pieces of shrimp. The sauce and corn were a nice touch. The calamari was fine, sweeter than expected and not as spicy as we expected. I ordered the crispy fish tacos, which were loaded with slaw and corn. The fish and sweet potato fries were definitely fresh and crispy. They're a bit messy to eat and I do think only ordering two would've been fine.

Another Great American restaurant that just absolutely kills it! I've yet to go to a location where the beef ribs were available and wow were they good! Meat feeling off the bone good!! If you're ever at Coastal Flats, the crabcake sliders are an absolute MUST since they don't have them at other locations (at least from what i know)!! This is a NON negotiable, so freaking good!!!! The bread pudding is always warm inside and the ice cream is a perfect pair to match with it.

Always a great place to stop in and sit at the bar for a lunch and drinks. Service is always prompt and they make consistently good cocktails. Surrounded by a cool coastal vibe and murals that provide you with a seaside feel. Today we had the crispy two noodle salad with tuna instead of shrimp. One of the things I like about this place is that you can substitute your proteins.

In the middle of a bussling happening village. Great atmosphere! Food was solid. Portions are decent. Prices are a bit high, but service was good. Don't live in the area, but we'd return if we did.

Another hit from the Great American restaurants group. This one has some nice aquatic themed decor with lots of glass fishes. The fish fingers are excellent, possibly one of the best fish & chip dishes around town. Thin, crispy batter with flaky fish inside paired with shoestring fries and a solid coleslaw with not too much mayo. The fish tacos use the same fish pieces, and the jalepeno slaw packs a real spice punch. Don't forget to get the Ozzie rolls!

Delicious meal! It was super busy when we went, so recommend a reservation if you're planning on coming during the weekend. The service was fine- we did get charged for an order of rolls we didn't place but it didn't bother us. The food was great, and great prices. A nice space perfect for a casual date night!

A special shoutout to our server, Sandra, she was fantastic. We started with the bang bang shrimp--perfectly crispy with a delicious sweet heat that wasn't overpowering. Easily one of the best appetizers we've had. For my entrée, I had the twin lobster tails they were tender, buttery, and flawless. The seasonal vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned. My husband ordered the Connecticut lobster roll, which was loaded with generous chunks of lobster, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted roll with crispy fries. Simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

It's in a newish shopping center, which, for us, had a bonus-- there is a Harris Teeter there. We needed to pick up some items, so we did before having dinner. We were here for an early dinner. Now that it's getting darker so early, we try to avoid driving after dark, when possible. Thus, we were here around 3 p.m. and were glad to see they were serving dinner at that time. To drink, I chose a mocktail called "What a lychee" which consists of "lychee, pineapple juice, club soda". It was garnished with a lychee. I did enjoy this drink. My husband had a non-alcoholic Stella Artois. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated immediately. Having looked at the menu before arriving, we each knew what we wanted. I chose to try the "Blackened Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna" which (supposedly) consists of: "Topped with jumbo lump crab meat, sundried tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, creamy lemon sauce served with rice." My husband chose the "Shrimp platter," which (supposedly) consists of: "crispy beer battered shrimp, coleslaw and chipotle sauce served with hand cut French fries." It took a while for our food to come out. As I was eating, it dawned on me that there was no crab meat or sundried tomatoes. Also, the sauce sure was a creamy lemon sauce. It was more like a miso-flavored sauce. Hard to say if the menu got changed, but no new menus were printed up to fix it. Or was it that the young man who cooked the food wasn't familiar with the entrees? Still, despite the discrepancies, I did like this dish, although it would have been even better if they had prepared it correctly. My husband noticed that there was no Chipotle sauce on his dish. Instead, there were two small containers: one with ketchup and another with tartar sauce. He, too, thought that his shrimp was well prepared, although the breading didn't cling to the shrimp. This experience left us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we appreciated the friendly, attentive service. Yet, on the other hand, we wonder whether it's worth going again, given the possibility of not getting all the ingredients for one's entree. We liked the ambiance, which evoked images of the beach. They have some nice paintings on one wall depicting the seashore, a lighthouse, and beach houses.

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. The gumbo you can order on the side is amazing, and the crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp are all fresh and delicious. It's $58.99 per person, which isn't cheap, but definitely worth it. First off, this place is a Fairfax staple for a reason. The iconic pink building is impossible to miss, and the outdoor patio is perfect for a nice evening out, while the inside is cozy, welcoming, and always has a great energy. It's the kind of spot that works for everything: a casual weeknight dinner, a weekend brunch with friends, a game day watch party, or even a date night. Now for the food--chef's kiss all around. Everything we've tried here is consistently delicious: their shrimp appetizer is crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, and the cheese dip is creamy, cheesy, and addictive. Their burgers are juicy and cooked to perfection, the seafood dishes are fresh and well-prepared, and their salads are fresh and loaded with toppings. The portions are generous, the prices are totally fair, and every dish is made with high-quality ingredients. The service here is also next-level, just like the reviews say. Our servers (shoutout to Jun and Collin, who are absolute rockstars!) are friendly, attentive, and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great meal. They're quick to refill drinks, check in regularly, and make great menu recommendations, even when the place is packed. This place serves Korean-Chinese cuisine -- a beloved fusion that's been popular in Korea for generations but is surprisingly hard to find done well in the DMV area -- and they absolutely nail it. Everything here is wok-fired and made fresh to order , and you can taste the difference. We started with the jajangmyeon -- thick noodles coated in a deep, savory black bean sauce -- and it was the real deal. Rich, comforting, and not overly heavy. We also tried the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), which had a beautifully complex broth with just the right level of heat that builds slowly and keeps you coming back for more. The crispy deep-fried options are golden and bursting with flavor -- we ordered the shrimp and could not stop eating them. The combo sets are a smart choice if you're visiting for the first time, letting you sample multiple dishes without the decision fatigue. The menu is a harmonious blend of bold Korean flavors intertwined with savory, umami-packed Chinese cooking -- it's the kind of food that feels both familiar and exciting at the same time. The space is casual and welcoming, service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes and quality you're getting.
