The apple pie pastry was delish. The apple fritter was not. The iced americano was good, the hot latte not. I wanted to give it a better review because it seemed like a local gem, but the ambiance gives more of a college student hang vibe,which is great if that's what you're looking for. Also, parking here is problematic.
First time at De Clieu and have been wanting to try this spot for a long time and hadn't mainly because I wasn't sure I would be able to figure out where to park exactly. Turns out there are convenient free parking lots nearby only 1-2 minute walks from the shop! I am a very big fan of their sandwiches. Both breakfast and lunch sandwiches taste great. The bagel on the Eggacado was super soft and fresh and the ciabatta on the De Clieu Toscana was crispy! Their drink selection is great too there's a lot to choose from on the menu and I like that they offer seasonal specials. As I left the store I also peeped that they also serve gelato in here. De Clieu is a terrific café/bakery located in Old Town Fairfax near George Mason University. They offer a lot of unusual and great coffee drinks variations. The bakery is also wonderful and they also offer a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. My only wish is they stay open later so we can get after dinner coffee and dessert.
We came here for a date day for me and my wife. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and we thought they were both great. We got the Pomodoro (limited) and the Caprese sandwich and we both tried each others. We also shared an Okinawa Haze. I liked both of the sandwiches and the coffee. I thought it was not too salty and it didn't fall apart. I thought service was really good, it's a self service kind of place but they do bring your sandwiches to you. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean up is also on you, which I don't mind considering that's how it is at most cafes/bakeries nowadays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I could definitely see myself coming back here to get a sandwich and perhaps another spot for a date day? Great place to grab a quick bite OR relax with a warm beverage and read a book. If you're a cozy cafe person, this place is for you!

I had the Italian cold cut sandwich, blackberry lemonade, and salted caramel brownie. The sandwich was a 10. There's an art to how to make a sandwich, how it's layered and put together, the staff here know what they are doing. It was the perfect size, and tasted amazing. The blackberry lemonade was perfect. Not many places offer a blackberry option, so that get extra points. The salted Carmel brownie was inhaled...so yea it was awesome as well . The staff was friendly and helpful, and gave me enough time to select my lunch. Thanks for the excellent experience today.
As a coffee fiend I literally cannot recommend this place enough, most places coat mediocre roasts with tons of syrup and foam but De Clieu lets the bean SHINE. Worth every penny, in fact would pay more. A little less than Starbucks for 10x the quality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is cute but a little noisy if you're trying to be productive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The baked goods are all amazing too. Support local!!!
This adorable coffee shop is in the heart of the city of Fairfax and a must visit! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went during the day where many customers were sitting at small tables enjoying their coffee, some with books reading and others in computers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I purchased a hot mocha and Tomato Basil soup! The soup was creamy and delicious, I ate every bite! The baristas took their time to ensure my drink was on par and the staff was pleasant greeting us as we arrived.
After discovering the De Clieu Coffee location off of U.S. 29 west of Fairfax City - I wanted to check out the original in Old Town Fairfax City. Because it's located on Main Street/Route 236 - there is no parking in front of the shop. There is parking out back - a very small covered one level parking garage - and another parking lot behind that. There is an entrance into the building complex through the back of the building. Towards the left side of the back of the building - head up a short stairway and you'll find the door. There is quite a bit of seating inside - but it was all taken. I'm guessing that due to the proximity to George Mason University - that most of the folks seated were GMU students. I ordered a quad-shot Winter Blackberry Latte - but less sweet than the normal way they make the drink - and a Blueberry Scone warmed up - to go. The Winter Blackberry Latte was really good - and the Blueberry Scone hit the spot - I could've used more blueberries in it - but the texture and flavor was good. Paid with Apple Pay. Service was good. #DeClieuCoffeeAndSandwich
Workers here are very nice and easy-going. Quite generous with their servings. I got one of the new spring menus- the Japanese egg salad sandwich- it's the perfect balance between the sweetness of the buns and savory of the egg salad. I expected the egg salad to be sweeter but it was a pleasant surprise with the parsley flakes. The banana peppers on the side are perfect! It takes away any hint of heaviness/too-sweet taste. Package is so cute too. I also had the iced vanilla bean latte with sugar free syrup and it actually tastes as sweet as regular vanilla. Overall, very satisfied. Splendid experience here.

I had an iced americano and a BLT. Both were really good. The iced americano has a robust flavor and the BLT was packed with bacon and mayo is always a nice touch [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was insane though. I think this is a really good brunch/lunch spot, but the parking situation in Old Town Fairfax is a nightmare (not De Clieu's fault haha). It's an incredibly busy restaurant, but the turnover's decent enough that you won't have to wait too long. I ordered the Jack of All Trades and a Matcha Blossom, which were hits for me. The sandwich is filling and not at all overwhelming with all the different flavors inside. The matcha blossom was great, maybe on the sweeter side, but otherwise a fun drink to have. I don't expect places like this to have high-quality matcha, so it's mostly about the flavorings for me here, and the rose flavor was subtle enough to not taste like soap. read more

Def recommend the Jack of all trades, the breakfast bagel was AMAZING and it was thickkk. Super filling. The matcha latte was also surprisingly good, not too sweet Note: there are a few parking lots a walking distance away, we parked a few blocks away and walked. read more

Stopped by De Clieu Coffee in Fairfax to get the Okinawa Sweet Potato latte. I'm not usually a fan of iced lattes but this was one of my favorites! I actually enjoyed it more before mixing it up since I could taste the flavors better. read more

the service is always great on the customer end. one of the supervisors/managers named esther is so incredibly kind and has always had a smile on her face. i have tried various drinks over the years, but the espresso based drinks are always my favorite. the baristas are all very talented and knowledgeable, you can always count on them for a beautiful latte. the double chocolate chip muffins are my favorite in the area. parking is quite inconvenient if you park in the parking decks - if you can grab a spot at the old town hall lot that'll be the most convenient if you're quickly stopping by. Got a matcha latte here after hearing about how popular this cafe is. They definitely didn't disappoint, the service was spectacular and even though it was really busy on a Saturday afternoon, my drink was made really quickly. This place is so so cute!! I came here with a friend while visiting town and we ended up getting it twice during my stay. Inside is pretty spacious, there are lots of places to sit and spread out to WFH or finish school work. If I lived in the area I would definitely come here a lot. I ordered the Okinawa Haze and the Crazy Irishman Breakfast Sandwich. The Okinawa Haze was really good - I love sweet and fun coffee drinks and I really enjoyed the (homemade!) Ube syrup that they added to it. The Irishman sandwich was also really good and I thought the hashbrowns were a nice touch. The service was great! The girl taking our order was very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. I will say parking was a bit of a challenge, but still worth trying to figure it out to try this place. read more

Such a cute little shop with so many options! You can tell it's very popular because it was so crowded but the line moves quick and you get your food fast. My friend and I got two huge breakfast sandwiches! They are big enough to share or save the other half for later. I got the Irishman breakfast sandwich and it had a little too much mustard on it for me but it was still tasty. I would come back and try something else like a smoothie or muffin. read more

We went to this café on a Saturday around noon and it was quite crowded, but we were able to wait for seating. It is more of a casual spot with great breakfast bagel options and lattes. Busy for a wintry Saturday! Understandably so since the sandwiches were delicious, the coffee fantastic, and overall a great place to do some work and hang out with friends. Service was great and efficient despite the amount of people there. Saw the Jack of All Trades was the top sandwich and I was not disappointed with the amount of flavor and how filljng it was. Honestly, boy bad I've been here one other time and the Irishmen was bland. This time, I got the same thing but I got it with the bacon this time. We both enjoyed our orders this time more than last time. I also got the coconut chai tea which was surprisingly delicious! My boyfriend got a mango black tea iced and said it tasted like the ones Starbucks used to have. The good and drinks didn't take super long to come out, but it probably depends on how busy they are. There's pastries are good as well. They have many options. The cafe is very small so getting seats is a hit or miss. They are very environment friendly. Bowls are sustainable, they have brown lunch bags for pastries, and have minimal plastic prints from what I saw. read more
I don't get the hype? I stopped by here before going for facials at a med spa nearby with my mom. I don't trek out here that often but wanted to get good coffee/tea and a simple breakfast to start off my day off right. The place was already packed by 10am. Parking sucks - you have to find a spot out in the back lot. It looks like it's just a lot of young adults perusing WiFi and needing to be near warm bodies. I never understood people who work in cafes. I find loud zoom meetings in public spaces an absolute nuisance. Anyway. Service was fine but the cashier forgot to heat up the pastries I asked to have toasted. She also forgot our coffee. Even then, things like that I can understand. My mom said the coffee was bitter. My matcha latte was overly sweet. The tuna sandwich was edible but nothing I ate here was remotely noteworthy. The cinnamon bun was meh. The apple turnover was a hefty size and was probably the only item that got a thumbs up. Some people like busy places. I just thought it meant great food. It apparently does not. Maybe it's just the area lacks good cafes- I live in McLean where we have no shortage of that, but I like to explore. Unfortunately this isn't making it to rotation. read more
First time...alot of breakfast and lunch options with various types of breads and bagels. I had the eggacado on a croissant, wowzers it was delish. Daughter had the eggacado on everything bagel and loved it. The wife had the egg cheese sandwich with no bread. She didnt eat the spinach, she didnt know if spinach was washed? The drinks were very good. I had the drip coffee medium roast, i thought it was a little light for medium..it got better as I drank it(closer to bottom of cup). Next time im trying the french press. Wife had a hazelnut cappuccino w/sugar free syrup, she said it was amazeballs and it looked beautiful. My daughter had the iced caramel lattee. And she said it was better than Starbucks. Visited De Clieu on a busy and hot Saturday afternoon for coffee and some light lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although it was packed, our party of 2 was able to find seating at the end of a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a very loud cafe, but the ambiance is very relaxed and just nice to be around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and matcha, as well as our sandwiches. This was our first time here and it will not be our last!
