I think this is a really good brunch/lunch spot, but the parking situation in Old Town Fairfax is a nightmare (not De Clieu's fault haha). It's an incredibly busy restaurant, but the turnover's decent enough that you won't have to wait too long. I ordered the Jack of All Trades and a Matcha Blossom, which were hits for me. The sandwich is filling and not at all overwhelming with all the different flavors inside. The matcha blossom was great, maybe on the sweeter side, but otherwise a fun drink to have. Turns out there are convenient free parking lots nearby only 1-2 minute walks from the shop! I am a very big fan of their sandwiches. Both breakfast and lunch sandwiches taste great. The bagel on the Eggacado was super soft and fresh and the ciabatta on the De Clieu Toscana was crispy! Their drink selection is great too there's a lot to choose from on the menu and I like that they offer seasonal specials. As I left the store I also peeped that they also serve gelato in here. We came here for a date day for me and my wife. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and we thought they were both great. We got the Pomodoro (limited) and the Caprese sandwich and we both tried each others. We also shared an Okinawa Haze. I liked both of the sandwiches and the coffee. I thought it was not too salty and it didn't fall apart. I thought service was really good, it's a self service kind of place but they do bring your sandwiches to you. Clean up is also on you, which I don't mind considering that's how it is at most cafes/bakeries nowadays. There's an art to how to make a sandwich, how it's layered and put together, the staff here know what they are doing. It was the perfect size, and tasted amazing. The blackberry lemonade was perfect. Because it's located on Main Street/Route 236 - there is no parking in front of the shop. There is parking out back - a very small covered one level parking garage - and another parking lot behind that. There is an entrance into the building complex through the back of the building. Towards the left side of the back of the building - head up a short stairway and you'll find the door. There is quite a bit of seating inside - but it was all taken. I'm guessing that due to the proximity to George Mason University - that most of the folks seated were GMU students. I ordered a quad-shot Winter Blackberry Latte - but less sweet than the normal way they make the drink - and a Blueberry Scone warmed up - to go. The Winter Blackberry Latte was really good - and the Blueberry Scone hit the spot - I could've used more blueberries in it - but the texture and flavor was good. Paid with Apple Pay. I got one of the new spring menus- the Japanese egg salad sandwich- it's the perfect balance between the sweetness of the buns and savory of the egg salad. I expected the egg salad to be sweeter but it was a pleasant surprise with the parsley flakes. The banana peppers on the side are perfect! It takes away any hint of heaviness/too-sweet taste. Today, May 6th, was the "soft opening" of the new De Clieu location in Reston. The new cafe was busy, but had plenty of staff working and there was no wait for ordering at lunch time. All the staff were friendly and helpful. All the sandwich's were ordered were served warm which was a nice surprise. The sandwiches are cut in half Korean style with the wrapper around each half. The black coffee was strong and good. a little pricey, but with it. We are happy to have this new location open in Reston. I hope they continue to do exceptionally well here. read more

This place is so so cute!! I came here with a friend while visiting town and we ended up getting it twice during my stay. Inside is pretty spacious, there are lots of places to sit and spread out to WFH or finish school work. If I lived in the area I would definitely come here a lot. I ordered the Okinawa Haze and the Crazy Irishman Breakfast Sandwich. The Okinawa Haze was really good - I love sweet and fun coffee drinks and I really enjoyed the (homemade!) Honestly, boy bad I've been here one other time and the Irishmen was bland. This time, I got the same thing but I got it with the bacon this time. We both enjoyed our orders this time more than last time. I also got the coconut chai tea which was surprisingly delicious! My boyfriend got a mango black tea iced and said it tasted like the ones Starbucks used to have. The good and drinks didn't take super long to come out, but it probably depends on how busy they are. There's pastries are good as well. They have many options. The cafe is very small so getting seats is a hit or miss. They are very environment friendly. I don't get the hype? I stopped by here before going for facials at a med spa nearby with my mom. I don't trek out here that often but wanted to get good coffee/tea and a simple breakfast to start off my day off right. The place was already packed by 10am. Parking sucks - you have to find a spot out in the back lot. It looks like it's just a lot of young adults perusing WiFi and needing to be near warm bodies. I never understood people who work in cafes. I find loud zoom meetings in public spaces an absolute nuisance. Anyway. Service was fine but the cashier forgot to heat up the pastries I asked to have toasted. She also forgot our coffee. Even then, things like that I can understand. My mom said the coffee was bitter. My matcha latte was overly sweet. The tuna sandwich was edible but nothing I ate here was remotely noteworthy. The cinnamon bun was meh. The apple turnover was a hefty size and was probably the only item that got a thumbs up. Some people like busy places. I just thought it meant great food. It apparently does not. How did it take me a year and 9 months to find De Clieu? It's a ~25 minute drive from where I live without traffic, but it's such a great cafe with decently priced food and coffee drinks. The vibe here is nice too since it is homey and warm with people of different age groups doing their work, catching up, reading the news, etc. It's close to the GMU Fairfax campus so I expected mainly college students. Either way, the GMU students have it nice if they have De Clieu so close to them. There were lots of coffee options -- ranging from black coffee (drip and even pour overs) and lots of fun latte flavors. They also have lots of non-coffee drinks, lots of different teas, fruit based drinks and tea lattes. The breakfast and lunch sandwiches all looked really tasty and it was hard to choose between many options. OKINAWA HAZE (SMALL, 16 OZ.) - 4.80 This is an iced ube latte and it comes out in a nice purple, white and coffee colored gradient. It's not as pretty when you mix it all together, haha, but I liked that it wasn't that sweet and it was an enjoyable iced latte. I wish there was a stronger coffee flavor, though, because I felt like it was a lot of milk with hints of ube syrup. Overall, I'd recommend and would definitely get this again. JACK OF ALL TRADES - 9.25 This is probably their most popular sandwich here since it literally is super phat (good luck trying to eat it, lol) with lots of great ingredients (mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, super fluffy egg, sausage, bacon, and cheese) in between a fluffy brioche bun. This is definitely more food than I can eat for lunch, so I ate half of it and saved the other half for a different meal. This sandwich is pretty popular on local food influencers' Tik Toks/Instagram reels (whatever young people use nowadays) and for once, not in an overrated way. I would recommend it if you're looking for a tasty breakfast sandwich. I'm debating on getting another latte as I'm writing this review at De Clieu. We will see :) read more
