I reviewed 29th Parallel Coffee back in 2015 - but when I did - it was located off of U.S. 50 in the City of Fairfax (VA). This morning I saw a "coffee" sign in the retail complex I was in - in Fairfax Station - so I went in to grab some more caffeine after breakfast - turns out it is a "29th Parallel Coffee." Apparently the location that used to be in Fairfax City - up and relocated to Fairfax Station - since my original 2015 review is attached to this business listing. It feels smaller on the inside compared to the previous location. I ordered a large cold brew with Half n' Half. I guess they were out of translucent cups - as the cold brew was served up in a paper cup. There is are a few small tables inside, and free WiFi for those needing to do some work. I was pleasantly greeted when I came in which allowed me to feel comfortable. They had some good flavor selections for their coffees, however upon receiving it, the taste wasn't what I was expecting at all. It felt like I was drinking water, coffee, and biscoff all separately in my coffee. I had to get a straw to get the biscoff taste at the bottom of the cup. In my humble opinion as someone who loves coffee, I really would have preferred a nice smooth and consistent coffee throughout the entire cup, not in parts. Such a cute place, great quiet coffee shop to come read, work, or have a meetup with a friend. The ambience is minimalist and they have art for sale hung on the walls. Selling some baked goods, a couple sandwiches, and a few breakfast items like bagels and avocado toast. Their menu is very clear and minimal, with the option to pick from about five flavors for your coffee, letting them know if it's for here or to go. I got a large iced coffee with mocha (almond milk) and avocado toast. Just as a mental image for size the latte size for large is about a grande for Starbucks. It tasted great, I probably could have gone with an extra shot of espresso (but I love a strong latte!). They bring it to where you're sitting which is great, and the service overall was fantastic and friendly. The avocado toast at $6 is definitely "you get what you pay for". I thought it was a steal given some places charge double for avocado toast these days, but it was not something I'd get again. It seemed to be likely that premade avocado spread with tajin, salt, and microgreens. It was actually so unbelievably salty I literally couldn't have more than two bites, and I'm a gal that doesn't usually mind a little extra pinch. Definitely would come back for coffee but would not get the avocado toast! read more

Apparently this location has been open for many years but I just recently discovered this cute coffee shop. Met up with a gf here for a coffee date and it was a great time! We both pistachio lattes and pastries. Really enjoyed my blueberry coffee coke! I wish there was more room outside for outdoor seating but still really like this spot. Will be back! read more

The worst costumer service I have experienced in quite some time. I ordered my coffees paid and then waited. I watched multiple custumers come in and get coffees that were obvious regulars. When I said something the barista said "next time I forget you just remind me earlier". Last time I checked it's not my job as the paying custumer to remind you to do your job. read more

Came across such a friendly barista this time around who suggested the special rooh afza syrup, a Pakistani syrup with a rose like flavor. I thought the latte was very delicious, and my friend enjoyed her iced oat vanilla latte as well. read more

Had my own weird experiences with covert disrespect and picked up on a toxic undercurrent there with the arrival of a new employee that didn't seem to like me the moment we first met, but I didn't write a negative review since a place to get a cup of coffee is only so important. (Still decided that I shouldn't go back and support their business) But after learning from other former regulars that the same problematic employee literally told a nice older man (also a former regular) to "sit his ass down and he'll bring him the cup of coffee when it's ready" or he can "sit his ass down and come and get it when it's ready," I only think it's right for me to write a negative review because the owner didn't fire that problematic employee after finding out about that. As one with years of sales, retail and management experience, I really don't agree with the owner keeping such an unprofessional character on his payroll because that's extremely bad for business and just wrong in general. And, of course, he lost multiple regular customers as a result of that. The nice guy disrespected seemed like a nice guy that didn't deserve to be disrespected in front of other customers in a busy coffee shop. Therefore, it's only right that I support him by writing this review and sharing my own experience with disrespect because it's just part of being a good person. We live in a bizarre time where people think it's okay to disrespect customers. Take your business elsewhere just out of respect for a nice guy that was needlessly disrespected in front of an entire coffee shop. I'll definitely do my part to tell people not to go back to 29th Parallel from now on. Hopefully this helped customers make a good decision on where to take their business. read more

Got a honey rose latte and a vanilla matcha latte and they were delicious! Initially wanted the chai but they ran out and as they make it from scratch they said it can take 45 minutes. Default is not very sweet which I prefer, so if you want sweet ask for it to be sweetened more. The flavors aren't too artificial or overpowering, it was just enough to complement the coffee taste. It's been about a decade since this shop moved to its current location, further away. We were very happy to discover that Amir continues the wonderful casual ambience and charmed that his son now works alongside him. We had our favorites of Chai Latte and black coffee with delicious pastries and absolutely loved the great service. We like the care with which each coffee is crafted. Amir is very knowledgeable about good coffee. He exudes a very warm presence that makes us feel welcone . He even remembered us from all those years ago. A bit more laid back than Starbucks. Then again their places can be a little snooty. Definitely excellent employees here. Have found them to be polite and quite pleasant. I wish the chai lattes, and coffee brews corporate sent were better. At this cost I do expect quality and taste. So far average seems to be the value. Is it comfortable? Yes and this could be a great first date spot. It is very clean. The staff here do a wonderful job in this important area. Good luck with the parking. Ordered two iced lattes this morning (7/24/2025) but instead of making them with fresh espresso shots as expected, the two young staffers just dumped in some old, cold coffee pulled from their refrigerator. I told them I wanted freshly pulled espresso shots, and that's what I was paying $14 for, but no dice. Was told there was "literally no difference" between fresh espresso shots and their refrigerator brew. Hard nope. Drinks were awful, and no better than what I could easily make at home. There was no reason given for why I wasn't given what I ordered/paid for. Too bad because I really liked this place. read more

They closed early, well before the closing time. The door was open but they refused service. Very unreliable.

The selection here isn't huge and they were actually out of two teas completely further limiting the available choices. I was visiting a friend I hadn't seen in months so we were just grateful to have a place warm to sit and catch up. She had the lox bagel which she finished and I had a biscotti. The teas are brewed to order and so while mine was fine she preferred hers less strong and so it was undrinkable but again we didn't mention it or bring it back as we were busy gabbing. The staff were super pleasant and friendly so they get all the stars for this review. It was convenient, had ample parking and was fairly affordable. I love how they source coffee from different roasters! The beans used for the pour over this week was from Black & White Coffee Roasters (local to NC) which was exciting because I've been wanting to try this for awhile. I got the "Milton Monroy" pour over (tasting notes: red raspberry, orange, and blackberry jam) and it was absolutely delicious. It started out fruity and juicy but slowly trickled into something darker like chocolate. I thoroughly enjoyed this pour over and would highly recommend it! It seems like it's about $4.50 for a 10 oz. pour over. This coffee shop is a bit far from where I am, but I know where to get good coffee if I'm ever in the area. read more

I walked in and there was only 1 customer seated, but I figured, an hour before closing? Sure, it's possible. It was dark inside as if they were saving on electricity. The barista was there reading and I felt as if I was disturbing him. When I asked what's good, he read me the names of a few coffee bags, and said, "I think this is what we have." We really dont have alot of good quality coffee cafes near where I live (Starbucks dont count) so to have 29th Parallel move closeby was definetly welcomed by people like me who prefer high quality coffee like 29th offers as compared to the run of the mill Starbucks. Everyone working here is lovely, including the owner who is often working here during the day. Also a plus point: the music they play is really chill and i have shazammed some handful of songs to add to my collection while studying here. I always get the cortado here which is the perfect blend of strong and rich. I might venture out and get something different one day but till now, im perfectly content drinking my cortado and studying in a corner. read more

It didn't taste anything of rose whatsoever, in fact. The cup was laughably small and is an overpriced product tasting just okay. I wouldn't come back- however, if the portion size was less stingy, I might have considered coming back and trying another one of their flavors.
