    1. Aesthetic, good for the gram, picture perfect cakes. A lot of hype! Expensive with each cake about $10, but no price tags on the displays. They do not taste as good as they look though. Pistachio cake: 4/5, creamy and heavily chocolatey, with no texture change. Pistachio taste masked by the chocolate. Crunchy pieces inside were soggy. Tasted better after sitting in the fridge overnight. Creme brulee cake:3/5 missing the creme brulee concept but a nice light vanilla cake with some lavender pieces. Cappuccino was well made and reasonably priced. Iced pistachio latte tasted like pistachios and had a decent coffee taste too. Overall: come here if you're looking for a pretty cake photo and creamy cake with an outer crisp layer but not an exceptionally flavored cake. Lots of indoor seating, a few outdoor seats, and free parking. To go bags were nice and sturdy to transport the cake in one piece.

Asian-style buns, petite cakes, and good coffee? You know I'm there! This café is spacious and is designed intentionally for folks to work, read, or just relax. The staff are super friendly. One of them kindly told me that I can warm up my bun in the microwave that's for customers to use. It was a terrific place to spend a few hours while getting work done!

This place was not as amazing as I expected it to be. It is super trendy because of the fruit desserts. I was super excited to try them. However, they were $13-$14 EACH. This was shocking and the prices were hidden. The raspberry dessert barely had any raspberry taste to it and was subpar. The mango was super good and had lots of mango flavor. The chocolate mousse was super rich and filling. The food is dense and filling. Cool ambiance and ample parking. The service was excellent. Again, it's a cool study spot or a place to try once, but not affordable as a regular spot.

There honestly aren't enough good things I can say about this place, my only complaint is that I don't live closer! The cakes are amazing, and I often bring them to clients who absolutely go crazy over them. Everything I've tried has been delicious. But for me, it's all about the matcha. They've introduced a few new flavors recently, but I always go back to my favorite, the strawberry shortcake matcha latte with oat milk. Easily the best matcha in NOVA. I make it a point to stop by anytime I'm within a 10 minute drive. The atmosphere is such a good mix of coffee shop and coworking space, and there are always people working, meeting up, or just hanging out. Whether I'm placing a large order or just grabbing one drink for myself, the service is consistently great. The staff is always friendly, and everything comes out quickly. They also have a really solid rewards program. I regularly end up getting a few dollars off my latte, which is always a nice surprise. If you haven't tried Layered yet, you're seriously missing out.

Finally tried Layered and now I understand the hype. I tried their Kyoto Latte (latte with condensed milk. The latte was a bit watery, but I can't wait to try their other drinks! And of course I had to try their fruit desserts! From Mango to Matcha Jasmine, everything tastes so fresh, delicious, and beautifully crafted. It's a busy spot but still gives that cozy cafe feel. Finding a seat is a challenge, but so worth it!

We were in the Northern Virginia area and decided to try Layered in Fairfax. We had attempted to visit when they first opened, but at that time they were only doing limited batches. Now, they seem to be producing desserts continuously to keep up with demand. The location appears to be in a former McDonald's building, which gives you a sense of the space, it's fairly large. There are a variety of seating options, and it looks like they've added a new outdoor patio as well. There's a small self-service area for some treats, but most items are ordered from behind the counter. We arrived around 8 PM, and it was busy. We waited about 15 minutes to place our order and another 15 minutes to receive our drinks and desserts. We tried the Yuzu & Limoncello, Rocher, and Café Au Lait desserts (each around $9.40), along with a tiramisu latte ($6.40). Everything was delicious--creamy, well-balanced, and full of flavor. Prices are on the higher side. The cashier was friendly, though it seemed like they might have been understaffed. That said, the team handled the crowd well. Overall, it's a nice spot to check out if you're already in the area, but not somewhere we'd go out of our way to visit.

Located in Fairfax City, VA, Layered is a well-known Korean bakery and cafe famous for its lifelike, fruit-shaped desserts and chic interior. The venue boasts an Instagram-ready look with a tidy, open setup and cozy seating, embodying the classic Korean café vibe. We visited to enjoy their desserts and coffee, including a San Sebastián Cheesecake with a smooth, creamy texture and a balanced sweetness that paired perfectly with a latte. Korean-style pastries like twisted sugar-coated donuts and raisin danish were also delightful.

We've been waiting to try this place for the last year and man was it disappointing. This place is definitely over hyped. The pastries are cute but flavor isn't that great. It's just okay. We got the mango, vanilla, pistachio, yuzu & spinach pie. The spinach pie was the best thing we had unfortunately. Service was great though. The staff are really nice & helpful.

have heard a lot about this place so decided to give it a try since the hype has died down. I love the interior with options to work from super cute! I ordered the banana cream matcha which indeed tasted like banana. I didn't taste much of the matcha but it may due to how strong the banana cream flavor is. I personally would not get it again. I also got to try the cappuccino here and it was the standard capp nothing fancy or "wow" about it. Didn't get to try the dessert items so may need to come back & try it once. Service was friendly overall!

I finally got a chance to try layered and I really loved it. This cafe is large with plenty of seating but it does get super busy on weekends. They have so many drink options and I tried the banana matcha which was so delicious! All of their pastries are all handmade and they look pretty and so much like real fruit. Their pastries are basically art and that's why this place is a bit pricey. I think the price is worth what you get. All the pastries I tried were delicious but my absolute favorite was the mango.

    Cam H.

This bakery is such a fun concept! Their cakes resemble real fruit and are almost too pretty to eat. It broke my heart to break the cake. It's definitely a spot that catches your eye right away. Very instagrammable. The mango cake was my absolute favorite. The filling had real mango pieces, which made it taste incredibly fresh. It wasn't overly sweet at all, more of a balanced sweet-and-sour flavor that felt light and refreshing. We also tried the matcha strawberry cake. It was very light, perfect if you don't like heavy desserts. The matcha flavor wasn't super strong though, I personally would've loved a deeper matcha profile. Their coconut matcha drink was solid as well and paired nicely with the cakes. It can get busy depending on timing. We got lucky and waited about 10 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad. Service was quick and checkout was easy. The only downside is the price. The mango cake is quite small for $15...you're paying for the artistry and aesthetic as much as the taste.

The desserts here are better than you would think! They're beautiful and pretty tasty, but can be kind of expensive. I recommend the mango dessert! I've been here twice and tried the matcha jasmine dessert twice: one time it was bland but the second time it was really good. So maybe depending on the day, dessert quality can differ a bit. The drinks are decent, they have some fun flavors. I tried the matcha pandan drink and it was a touch sweet. Definitely worth coming here once! I'm curious about the different pastries they have as well. I've been here only on the weekend, and it's usually pretty busy. There's a lot of seating, but gets full pretty fast.

    strawberry, ube cheesecake, strawberry matcha
    Sharon L.

I came here on a sunday afternoon and we got the strawberry pastry, ube cheesecake and strawberry matcha. My friend and I both thought that everything was ok but a little too sweet. I thought the strawberry pastry was a bit underwhelming in terms of taste as I thought it was would be an outer chocolate covering/shell with a refreshing cream but the cream was more reminiscent of almost a cream cheese flavor that I didn't really like and there was no hard shell. I liked the strawberry matcha the best out of everything we got but my friend said the drink was too sweet. Overall, I thought the cafe was ok ! The employees were friendly and the interior of the cafe is very cute with lots of seating. I think I would come back and just try their other pastries.

The flavors rotate seasonally with different combo twist flavors and there's now a Mini 6 oz option as well as the 9 oz classic option with unlimited toppings! There are interesting seasonal flavors that are fun to try: - Honey Dew & Guava Cheesecake Twist - The summer flavor and sweetness of the honey dew complemented the exotic guava cheesecake flavor. - Sticky Mango Rice and Matcha Twist - While I enjoyed both flavors while the savoriness of the matcha helped balance out the sweetness of the Mango, they didn't pair that well together. I would get the Matcha separately and pair with Oreos and chocolate. - Peach Honey Goat Cheese - My favorite summer! The unique flavor is complex with a bit sweetness and a touch of savory. You can taste all of the ingredients. - Sakura: The pink cherry spring flavor wasn't that sweet and a bit tangy. - Kyoto Taro Cheesecake: A great combo of Taro and Matcha Cheesecake twist that's not too sweet and flavorful Ube Cheesecake flavor - A bit bland with a subtle cheesecake flavor. - Watermelon Basil - Fun flavor to try and tastes like a sour watermelon jollyrancher. It pairs well with the Peach Honey Goat Cheese flavor. - Black Sesame - Grey, savory flavor with a hint of bitterness. - Cookies and Cream flavor is a bit bland. - Classic Ube & Pandan Twist: I always resort back to my favorite default sweet and coconutty flavor. The Taikayi waffle cones are delicious. As the stuffed Taikyai is quite decadent, getting it hollow without any filling is the best way to go with the ice cream. Any type of filling with the ice cream becomes overload of sweetness. The Wicked Pandan Float (from the glass cooler) was delicious with layers of green coconut Pandan cheesecake custard pudding on a bed of Oreo Crumbs drizzled with salted caramel dulche leche. All of the flavors pair well together. I wasn't a fan of the Ube Dulce Leche or the Ube Oreo Floater. The Ube custard was a bit bland and didn't like the jelly topping. The lokmas were fried to perfection, a nice amount of chewy, and covered with a good ratio of pistachio cream. They were a decent size and conducive to sharing. The prices of everything, overall, was pretty expensive, but the quality definitely made up for it. I'd recommend this cafe to someone looking for a unique sweet treat, catching up with a group of girl friends of 2-4 people, or for a first date!

I swear I left a review about a year ago for the same Dubai strawberries-- maybe it was on a…read moredifferent app. LAST YEAR: amazing. Amazing service and the strawberries were perfection and saucy and yum. TONIGHT ugh. The stars are for the delightful service (every employee I've encountered there has been lovely). Tonight I went to order the Dubai strawberries-- very UNcheap-- and I glanced into the glass box with the berries. It was foggy and whatever. So I ordered. I waited. I was serviced PRE-PREPARED strawberries! Terrible! So, I didn't notice that the berries were already prepared (foggy glass). And I took them home without noticing, because covered in kataifi and crushed pistachio. And wow. Disappointment. Deeeeeeply unenjoyable. Had I noticed they were already made, no way. I've seen them like that at Bakery Museum and I absolutely will not purchase. I'm sorry I don't have proof of the excellent berries I was served last year. But I don't have a need to go back again. Whomp.

Stopped in for breakfast on our way to a hike and loved this place. Super cute atmosphere with lots…read moreof seating, and everyone working there was really nice. I ordered an almond milk latte and the avocado toast without feta. The avocado toast was SO good, the avocado tasted really fresh and they used the perfect amount of balsamic vinegar. Also loved that they had packets of hot sauce available. My son got a bagel with cream cheese and my partner got a bagel with butter and jam plus a chai latte. Only note is that the bagel came with a ton of cream cheese, so if you don't like it piled on, I'd recommend asking for light cream cheese. Overall we really loved it and would definitely come back when we're in the area again!

This place is a lovely spot! My friend and I first stumbled upon it while trying to find a cafe to…read moresit and catch up, and I loved it so much I dragged my husband back at a later date. The decor makes you think of what you'd find at an eccentric great aunt's home, but in a positive way. Each area has its own mini aesthetic that contributes to the entire place; in the back are color themed books that give it a more serious look, while upstairs is more whimsical in it's random assortment of chairs and couches. The food is in appealing display cases downstairs. The stand out pastries for me are the tiramisu filled cronuts. Drinks wise, they have the typical cafe fare but excitingly so they also have Colombe on draft which I will always be excited about. I recommend this place to grab a snack and socialize!
