This is a hidden gem! Phenomenal food! Friendly owner greeted us! Huge portions! I had the fried catfish and shrimp! So tasty and not greasy at all. My green beans and Mac and cheese were delish! Highly recommend this place!

After a long flight from KCMO to Washington D.C./Virginia, my cousin and I stumbled upon this restaurant in our search for some soul food. The owner was very friendly, warm and had great customer service. The space is open and roomy. They have games at every table to occupy you while you wait. The food was amazing, delicious - great seasoning, great breading on the fish, the wings were seasoned and coated in a spicy sweet bbq sauce and the grits were flavorful and creamy.

Outstanding customer service. Very friendly and ensured we as a customer were satisfied. The food was freshly prepared. Here's what we ordered and our rating. *Fried Catfish * Fried Red Snapper * Fried okra * Potato Salad * Biscuit (a mixture of cornbread and a hush puppy) * Grits * wings and fries The stars on the menu are the freshly fried fish. The restaurant looks like it serves as an event venue as well.

Turkey wings with rice and side of cabbage.

JWs is my new favorite restaurant. I have eaten from here several times and normally I get their Catfish and grits which have NEVER disappointed but today when I walked in (I usually order from Grubhub) and saw they had Turkey wings. Let me tell you I am so glad I ordered it because just like their Catfish it is delicious!! The turkeys wings were so tender the meat literally fell off the bones. They give you 2 wings portions with rice and 2 sides for $22. The portions are VERY generous and I will have some for tomorrow dinner as well. Their biscuits are to die for. And because I know their wings are good I ordered some for lunch next week. This place has the best soul food in Loudoun county!! It's REALLY nice to know I don't have to wait for someone to come from MD to bring me good soul food. You can also sit down and eat if you like. They also serve alcoholic beverages. The owner is VERY personable and a pleasure to chat with. But I was sold before I walked in the door.

One of those places that's better dine-in than takeout or ubereats. The collards were good but the flavor was surface. The Mac and cheese had great flavor but had a weird gritty texture to it, also was very runny. The French fries didn't have any salt. The wings would have been better fresh and still crispy, the sauce is good but the wings were soggy by the time I got them. The biscuits definitely tasted more like Jiffy but were still very tasty. The black eyed peas tasted like they were made by someone's great-aunt, a good thing btw. The whiting was tasty and flaky and had a good crunch. We didn't get any of our requested sauces though.

situated where the the 'Johnny Ray's Sultry Soul Food' used to be, is now JW's Fish & Biscuits. I was sad to hear when Johnny Ray's shut down, but I didn't know a new restaurant emerged from the ashes. JW's is new to town & boy are they something. We ordered a platter of catfish (2 pieces) - comes with corn bread + 2 sides (coleslaw & candied yams) and a poboy, the poboy came with french fries - weren't that great honestly. I think if they did shoestring fries would've been better. the poboy itself was good though! the platter of catfish was freaking delicious! well breaded & seasoned. the catsfish itself was amazing. the candied yams were my favorite side. I can't wait to come back & try out their other menu items. Chef Dennis (owner) even came up to us to check in to see how our food turned out! he gave me a brief run down on the history of the restaurant & he's just an overall sweet guy!

The catfish & whiting were EXCELLENT! Dennis does a great job at taking care of his customers!

OMG, this food is so scrumptious. I went there for an event and so glad I did. Everything was so flavorful. What is everything, candy yams, catfish, whiting, Mac & Cheese and biscuits. Tasted like ur came out of grandma's kitchen. The owner is very down to earth , makes you feel like a family member. The ambiance, nothing fancy, just like home. Highly recommend you take the drive.

My favorite place for southern fried catfish in the area! The owner and chef is very personable which makes this place a joy to come to for down home cooking!

It's exactly what you'd expect from a Southern style dish in Charleston SC. Rich, comforting, and well executed. The crispy calamari appetizer was disappointing. Most of the pieces were tiny, which made them too small to dip into the sauce. It was also too salty. Cutting the salt by about 33% would help a lot. The worst part was the service. There was a long gap between our appetizer and entrees, and I could see our food sitting under the heat lamps for a long time. When our server Soledad passed by, I told her I noticed our entrees were ready and asked if we could get them. She seemed annoyed and told me I had to wait my turn because they execute tickets in order. The kitchen talent is clearly good, but they need to train their servers to have more grace under pressure. Overall, not worth coming again when there are so many great dining options in the area.

Cocktails : Manhattan - top notch My sweet side piece - fun presentation with table side bubbles! Feels a bit like a fall drink. Warm spice. Very tasty and too easy to drink fast lol Apps: We got the baked shrimp and the beef carpaccio. Both outstanding and so flavorful. Just needed some bread to soak up the sauce in the baked shrimp. The lemon rind in the shrimp was a perfect compliment to the sauce and the carpaccio was perfectly seasoned and the thinnest slices I have ever had which made it delicate and delicious. Entrees: We got the sea bass and the short rib bolognese. Blown away by how good both of these were and so very different. The short rib bolognese had a rich but not heavy flavor with fresh pasta and a delightful velvety spiciness - not heat though. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked with a carrot ginger puree that was sublime with the spinach and fish. We loved both of these entrees. Really wanted dessert but sadly not more room which was better for our stomachs and our wallets. It's not a cheap endeavor here but worth the cost for a fabulous meal out and a very cool vibe.
