I'm shocked how empty this place is for how amazing the food is. We happened to find this spot online when our original dinner destination unexpectedly closed early. We were craving fish fry and this place served. We ordered a couple platters of catfish and whiting along with some sides. Both fish were breaded and fried perfectly. Super flakey inside and crispy on the outside. The shrimp was so crispy and crunchy you can eat it whole tail and all. I haven't had enough collard greens to make an assessment of what is considered good as a baseline but I enjoyed them! Sweet potato fries were thick and crisp. Fried green tomatoes were also delicious. Grits were very cheesy, the biscuit was also pretty good. Sauce bar was a bit lacking as some bottles were empty. But we made do with what was there. Staff was very kind and patient while we were figuring out our order. Also checked in on us to make sure we were ok. This was my third time patronizing this establishment; however, my experience yesterday was quite disappointing. For starters, I ordered the red snapper meal for the second time. Unfortunately, the fish tasted as though it had been fried in old oil or possibly the same oil used for fries and onion rings. The flavor was noticeably off and not enjoyable at all. Additionally, the cabbage lacked seasoning and flavor, while the cornbread biscuit tasted as if it had been made with sour milk. The only items I was able to enjoy were the yams and the mac and cheese. I have eaten from here several times and normally I get their Catfish and grits which have NEVER disappointed but today when I walked in (I usually order from Grubhub) and saw they had Turkey wings. Let me tell you I am so glad I ordered it because just like their Catfish it is delicious!! The turkeys wings were so tender the meat literally fell off the bones. They give you 2 wings portions with rice and 2 sides for $22. The portions are VERY generous and I will have some for tomorrow dinner as well. Their biscuits are to die for. So happy to have JWs Fish and Biscuits in the area serving up delicious fish and shrimp. My favorite is the Friday special, Croaker fish platter. Love the greens and sweet potato sides. I also love the bang bang shrimp. The shrimp are a nice large size, light and crispy fried and the sauce is delicious. My dad had the brisket, noticed he closed his eyes when he took his first bite and then said "so good!!" Service is great everyone is pleasant and helpful and it's always a pleasure to see the Chef. I could have just eaten the sauce by itself. Being from the west coast I was surprised to find the green beans were cooked with what I think was pork, but that's just due to my own fault for not asking lol.
