Grabbed lunch here the other day while doing errands in the area. Decided to go with a trio of rolls (crab salad, shrimp salad, and lobster). My husband went with a lobster roll trio (classic, Connecticut and truffle butter). While mine was good - my husband was absolutely divine. I particularly loved the truffle butter one. The rolls came out pretty quick so we didn't wait long and although the place was small there were indoor and outdoor seats available. Definitely will be back and recommend!
Great lobster rolls and convenient location in the town center! The space is very small so there are not many seats inside. The lobster Mac and cheese was just ok. Not huge rolls but not too expensive for lobster.

I think I've been to one of these before but I honestly can't remember. Service was fast. Lobster roll was good minus the gobs of mayonnaise they put on it. It was literally pouring out of my sandwich with every bite. Kids Mac and cheese was small as hell like a side for a small person. Chowder was watery but tasty.
I ordered a classic roll to go toasted with a pickle on side. The bun was perfectly crispy and buttery creamy. It had a good amount of lobster. The classic of course has mayo which made it creamy and the lemon to balance that out. Overall it was perfect. I would definitely come back to try their different versions of the lobster roll. I like how they just specialize in one item and perfect it. Inside is a few tables to sit if you want. It's right next to hells kitchen fish & chips

Mason's Famous Lobsta Rolls popped up with an alarming paucity of reviews, so I thought I'd pop by to say "hi!". Neat little storefront. Surprisingly cramped in terms of size, but they have space for a restroom off to the side. Reminds me of a cubicle, and ain't nothin' wrong with that! Debating on the menu. In the mood for lobster rolls. I wanted to try a Connecticut as that seems to be the most popular here; at the same time, gotta be mindful of Daily Specials that comes with the Lobsta Mac n' Cheese. I decided to "buy a pig in a poke" and have the Mac on the side for a respectable 5$ surcharge. Let me clarify, I had -- "Connecticut Lobster Roll with Lobster Mac and Cheese on the Side". The food came out very fast methinks, faster than I had counted on. Faster than you can say the store name in a Southern accent, at any rate. The food was decent, nothing exceptional. Then again, I had a minor cold, nose was stuffy, so I might have missed out on the taste aspect. Lobster Roll, props for presentation and no separate butter on side. It was good, and bread was prepared and lightly-toasted to my satisfaction. The lobster bits were leaning towards the generous side; could have used a bit more salt and seasoning though. Lobster Mac was along the same lines. Buttery enough to my appreciation, but Mac with lobster bits was on the bland side. However, portions were good. I will rate up one star for location, convenience, helpful cashier-lady that helped point me in the right direction, and the speed at which my order was ready. This was dine-in and honestly my food was ready in two minutes tops. That's pretty darn fast for a lobster place. Overall, cool and niche spot to satisfy one's quick-and-dirty lobster (or seafood?) craving. I will heartily recommend -- with a caveat there is a need to grab a quick bite for lunch or something along those lines. Seriously, Larry the Lazy Lobster has nothin' on this speedy joint. I wouldn't mind swingin' by sometime again.

They run you about $20 a roll which I don't think is that bad. They also have soups and other sides that I would like to try next time. I would come back here and would recommend.
The restaurant is definitely a grab and go spot; it also explains why they don't validate parking. My friend and I didn't realize this when we made plans to eat lunch here and the weather was wet and gloomy. Fortunately, there was available indoor seating despite the small space. My friend had a lunch special for $25. It included a classic lobster roll with a small side and a fountain drink. I opted for just the lobster salad roll. Both were fantastic. The lobster tasted fresh and the roll had a nice texture to it. I would've preferred it to be a little more crisp; I still enjoyed it a lot. I will note though, that I was still hungry after the roll. This restaurant is pricey $$$. All things considered, the price is fair for the area, I really enjoyed it, and the service was excellent. I asked my friend what he thought of the clam chowder he got and he said the clams were generous however, the broth was a little watery.
Got the Connecticut roll which was warmed lobster roll on a toasted bun. Wow it hits the spot with being perfect combination of buttery, salty and filling! I was craving some northern seafood and walked past this shop in Reston Town Center. They have a good amount of variations to the traditional lobster roll on the menu. I especially enjoy how they have photo's and explanations, with pricing on their window before you enter. There isn't really a place to sit and eat - but it is great to grab and go. I would eat here again!
For a quick lobster roll it's worth a visit. It was fast and pretty tasty for a walk up restaurant. I do think it's a little over priced at $20. If you get the combo it's a bit better... but hey it's lobster. The staff was very friendly on my visit.
Came here because I wanted something healthy, idk if it was healthy but the lobster roll was great. The bread was moist and the large chunks of lobster was worth the drive. The lobster bisque had no visible lobster but tasted good. They had Maine Root soda in a few flavors which I should have tried. Would go back for the sammich again.
Awesome lobster rolls! I got the Connecticut style lobster roll and it was very good. Perfect portion size and it was filling. Also got the Mac n cheese which was alright.

Stopped by Mason's to try the Lobster roll. Generous helping of lobster. Sandwich had nice softly toasted roll with the correct amount of mayo to butter to lemon dressing. Great sandwich spot if you want to splurge for a 20 dollar sandwich. Total meal deal with soup and drink 27 bucks. read more
It took a pandemic for me to try out this place, but 100% worth it. I got the Connecticut roll and lobster mac & cheese. I had already read reviews on the mac & cheese so I felt that helped manage my expectations - it was pretty good in my opinion, though not a lot. The Connecticut roll was my favorite with fresh chunks of lobsters squeezed between toasted, buttery bread. For price and quality of food, I think it's good. The combination deal of a lobster roll and side of mac and cheese was for $20! Will definitely be ordering from here again! Glad there's a lobster roll place in Reston Town Center. It's not Luke's Lobster, but it's pretty dang good! read more
THE best lobster rolls!!! I fell in love with the Connecticut roll at the Annapolis location. I'm so glad there's one on this side of the DMV now!!! I've visited this location a few times now and have always had good service. Here's the deets(or details for the lay person;)... There's a small seating area inside and out, but I can see there's probably more takeout than dining in. Since there's only takeout during the quarantine, call in your order or get it through one of the many delivery services. They're offering daily specials right now, so don't forget to ask what they are. They also have Maine Root fountain beverages. I ordered the Connecticut as usual. It's a grilled roll filled with butter tossed lobster served warm. I always add bowl of lobster bisque topped with lobster. It's also very good. I called in my order from outside the location and it was ready in ten. read more
Best lobster rolls I've had in the area! Stopped by for a quick dinner, and I have to say I was impressed! We ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Lobster Bisque (they were out of the clam chowder) and a drink. The lobster rolls were amazing- meat filled the bun and was super juicy, and the bun itself was perfectly buttery and toasted. It may seem on the smaller side, but my friend and I found it to be the perfect serving size. The Lobster Mac was filling and super creamy. I thought the bisque was good but nothing special, and it also didn't have any lobster so I would recommend trying one of their other soups. Their drink selection is great! I think this place is pretty affordable for their quality and taste, especially compared to other lobster roll restaurants in the area. Overall, would definitely recommend you check this place out if you are craving lobster rolls! read more

Coming into this review, I have tried Luke's Lobster, which is known for selling something at a $30-$40 price point for only $15. The lobster rolls are generous and delicious, and the pickle is a great sell. They also sell other delightful options like the shrimp roll and soup. Mason's does it similar, but personally, they fall just short of Luke's. Unlike Luke's, which stays true to form without getting cute, Mason's does the opposite - they get cute. They try to put too much into their product and out of it comes something perhaps completely unnecessary and somewhat expensive. Yes, the rolls are good, and I like how they want you to really try their lobster meat, but unless you know that lobster meat does not come cheap, it feels like they are after your wallet, instead of you as a person. The food is good, and for a lobster roll I cannot complain (their Connecticut roll is great), but give me more for less. I am asking not to compromise on the product, but asking you to find a way to stay true to yourself without glamorizing an already glamorous crustacean. read more

We were walking through Reston Town Center with no intention of buying more food after our gelato stop but saw Mason's Lobster Roll and decided to stop in. No disappointment here! Got a lobster roll and mac and cheese and both were so good. The lobster roll surprised me. The buttery roll was perfectly toasted. Light crunch and bite with buttery goodness and plenty of lobster meat. The lobster mac and cheese stole the show. It was my favorite. So creamy with a perfect blend of cheese and macaroni. Kids could care less for lobster and really went for the mac and cheese. Good deal at $25 for two seafood items. read more

Just tried them out for the first time (to go curbside) and had their signature "classic" lobster roll. It was absolutely exquisite - the best I can recall having in the area in years and years. Scrumptious, fresh and super tasty big chunks of lobster (was surprised by the amount). The roll was classic - as if you were on the Cape - freshly baked and the exact light traditional texture. The space is absolutely spotless, bright and inviting with plenty of room to eat in as well and seat small groups. In terms of pricing, $16 imho is not excessive considering the amount of lobster you get and the sheer quality. Will definitely be returning! read more

Came here on a whim with my fiance, dad, and my fiance's parents when we were walking through Reston Town Center. My fiance's parents are both from Massachusetts and love lobster rolls. The place is small, and I believe it took over a cupcake shop. The service was friendly and answered the questions we had. We ended up getting 5 lobster rolls (one for each of us), 4 fountain drinks, and an order of the lobster mac and cheese. It was fairly priced, as the lobster rolls were $15 each. Maybe just a tad bit smaller then others (although the others had a bit more lobster). I got the traditional lobster roll, cold with mayo. I prefer it over the warm with butter. And it was really good! The roll was perfectly toasted too. The food came out super fast. We really enjoyed the mac and cheese as well. It was warm, cheesy, and had crumbled Ritz crackers toasted on top. They also have lobster bisque, which I can hopefully try next time. It definitely hits the spot when I have a lobster roll craving (I do believe that A Bite of Maine down in VA Beach is better). With my fiance's family love for lobster/lobster rolls, we'll probably be back. It's not the best lobster roll in the world, but it's decent. read more
While I was sad to see Red Velvet Cupcakery close, I was eager to try the next business to occupy its spot. For weeks, the sign on the door said that Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls was "coming soon". Well...it finally opened and we were pleased to see that the early reviews were good. One thing we couldn't help but notice was that there are hardly any spots to sit inside. Sure, they have a couple of tables outside but...who wants to sit outside when it is cold? (I ask rhetorically). With that in mind, we set out to try it on a Sunday in the late afternoon (between 3:30 and 4). When we got there, only one 2 top table was available. A party of 6 had put three 2 tops together, leaving only two extra ones available. One was already occupied, so I told my husband to grab the free one while I ordered our food. The man taking our order was very friendly and helpful. For starters, I got a cup of lobster bisque while my husband had a cup of New England clam chowder. I chose a Connecticut lobster roll for my main course, and my husband got a classic roll. To drink, we shared a bottle of Pellegrino water. All this cost $40.28. I was pleased to see a Connecticut roll on the menu as few places in the DMV offer it. For those who are unfamiliar with it, the Connecticut roll is dressed in melted butter. The classic roll is dressed in mayo. As for the food --- I liked the lobster bisque. It had a hint of sherry in it which I like as it doesn't overpower the bisque. Even though there was no sign of any lobster in it, the flavoring was good. My husband liked his clam chowder, saying it lived up to the standard New England style clam chowder. As for the rolls---both rolls had hardly any dressing on them. The lobster was clearly claw meat. Each roll comes with a dill pickle slice. In fact, when the rolls were brought to our table, we couldn't tell which was which by eyeballing them. On one of the rolls, there was a tiny bit of dressing poking out of the lobster pieces. Only by tasting it, could I tell it was a classic roll. One thing we did like---the rolls are New England style ones that are toasted. We both found our rolls to be too dry. While I understand that places don't want to serve their classic rolls drowning in mayo, there is a happy medium between under dressing them and overdressing them. A good Connecticut roll should have a good amount of melted butter and should be warm. It's a shame that wasn't the case here. We both agree that we've had far better lobster rolls which my husband said has spoiled us :) In fact, while we ate our rolls, I said to my husband that we should plan another trip to Boston so we can go to Neptune Oyster for their rolls. Still, in all fairness, considering what we paid for the meal, we knew we should have tempered our expectations. That said, if the rolls were properly dressed, they would have tasted much better. The amount of lobster in the roll was adequate, thus the rolls held up well while we ate them. While we were eating, another customer told the man at the register, that they need a bigger dining area (we agree). He said that most of their business is at weekday lunchtime and most people get their food to go. So...if you go and want to eat-in, know that if you go at standard meal times, you may not find a seat. Also, know that if you've had a top notch roll in the past, go with tempered expectations. read more

RESTON, VA 12-04-18 LUNCH +NoVA shellfish fans rejoice! This Annapolis, MD lobster chain is clawing it's way into the the fast casual restaurant scene to serve up various lobster rolls and salads. +The Connecticut Roll was simple and excellent! It was served on a toasted split-top roll with warm butter, with a pickle spear. +Loyalty rewards program. -Very limited seating and poor ventilation. Your clothes will smell like grease after you take-out/dine here. -They use a convection toaster oven, similar to what you see at 7-Eleven's, to prepare the food. It also kind of reminds me of Subway when you see the employee(s) handle the little portion-controlled paper boats of lobster meat. -The pickle spear was a puny disappointment. I enjoyed Slapfish's pickle much more. -The lobster roll does not come with a side, and you have an option to pay $5 more for extra meat including the tail. -No fish products, just lobster and shrimp. I may give this place one more try, but Slapfish (Ashburn, VA) has definitely taken the lead in being my go-to for when I'm craving some good ol' lobster rolls.
