Fabulous sub and friendly, efficient service. I wish I lived closer. I'll stop by whenever I have business in Reston.

Twisted Sweets and Savory had been on my radar for quite some time. Yet, it took us quite a while…read moreto give it a try. In part, that was us not quite able to figure out exactly where it was. Grant Street, it turns out, is disjointed. In other words, it's not like it's just a straight shot from one end to the other. We stopped in here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. The place closes at 6 p.m., and are closed on Sunday. At that time of day, they weren't at all busy. The young man at the counter took our orders, and someone working in the back made the sandwiches. We just ordered savory items, so we can't speak to how the sweet items are (although some of them sounded so good). I ordered the salmon sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with dill cream cheese, filled with smoked Atlantic salmon, spring mix, cucumber, and red onion." The bread choices are everything bagel, jalapeno, and cheesy. I chose the everything bagel and asked for no onion. I found this sandwich to be tasty, but I thought they could have gone lighter with the dill cream cheese. The bread had a nice crispness. My husband ordered the ham and Swiss sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with paprika mayo and filled with black forest ham, Swiss cheese, fresh romaine hearts, spring mix, sweet pepper, tomato, cucumber, and red onion". He wasn't happy with the paprika mayo, as he says mustard would have worked better. Nor did he care for the sweet peppers. Now he knows not to order the default setting for this sandwich but instead to customize the toppings. They work with DoorDash, which, when ordering online, gives the option to customize one's order. There are high tables, the type that are found in bars, for those who want to eat their sandwiches there. The place is kept very clean.

I settled for the Hungarian sandwich and I tried the cannoli and pistachio twists. I loved all- they were delicious! I can't wait to go back!

The cashier wasn't welcoming and seemed annoyed. The pastries were stale. The decor seemed tacky as well. You have to go up the stairs to reach the entrance, because it is located on the second floor. The atmosphere inside is bright and welcoming, with plenty of seating whether you want to hang out with friends, read a book, or get some work done. The coffee and pastries were also excellent. I ordered an oat milk latte, and I loved that you can still taste the natural bitterness of the coffee instead of it being completely masked by the oat milk. Perfect companion for the butter croissant I ordered. It also came with a delicious waffle cookie on the side, which was a nice little treat with the coffee. The only thing I wish is that the coffee were served in a mug when dining in, but they mentioned that they plan to offer that eventually. Other than that the service is great! I didn't have to wait for a long time. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can come back and sit outside on their patio while sipping my coffee. Looking forward to making this a regular stop!

The roll was reminiscent of a Philly sub roll, which - now this may be polarizing - is the standard by which I judge all sub rolls. Philadelphia just has the best subs ;) Anyway - they use good deli meats here. I don't think they make their own fries, but they were nice and crispy with a bit of seasoning on them and went well with our sandwiches. My husband had the cheesesteak and said it was just meh - definitely steak-ums - but we are from the self-proclaimed cheesesteak capital of the world :) Don't pass up the dessert case though - I am not a sweets person, but they had this triple cheese thing that was like a cheese danish, but with a million times more cheese and just a little bit of pastry, we... uhhh... devoured it... It paired really nice with their house chocolate gelato, which was the definition of rich, decadent chocolate. The lady at the register was kind enough to allow us to try a side-by-side of the house and the machine gelato... word of advice... skip the machine, go with the house gelato - the flavor (and the serving size) knocks that name-brand, machine mumbo jumbo out of the park :) Honestly, just a great sandwich joint with a little store selling specialty items, many of which are from Italy (I will be back for some squid ink pasta the next time I am cooking for friends!). Lovely little gem :)

The Chicken Little was medium sized but the flavor was more than expected and exactly as a chicken sandwich should be. Highly recommend- I can't wait to come back and try their other sandwiches as well. The owner was here as well and was super lovely to speak too.

We popped in and took a while to read the menu options. I landed on a giant Italian Combo, a beer, side of fries, and a tiramisu. Everything was amazing. I ordered a sandwich and wanted to make it a combo but they only do it with fries, no chips. For most, thats an awesome deal - I just personally wanted chips. They have the fancier drinks and not your typical soda options so keep this in mind. My roasted turkey sandwich was $14.95 to start, and toppings like pepper relish cost extra (I feel like a spread should not be half a dollar but sure). Meat quality was good and bread felt fresh but just a little hard to chew. For basically 16$, there was only two thin slices of provolone. Compared to some of the photos I saw, the sandwich was a bit lacking on the toppings of meat/cheese. People super friendly and service was quick. They had tons of desserts, pasta salad, and a few actual pasta dishes on the menu too. I'll have to come in to give them a try for a cheesesteak or the caesar salad wrap next.
