    Italian madness
    Trendy D.

I really enjoy this spot! My boyfriend and I aren't huge sandwich eaters but we definitely go here often now! I usually get the same Italian madness sandwich. He typically tries new things and his favorites are the Mad Italian and the Brooklyn steamer. Be said the salty pig is super goooood too! They are very quick at making sandwiches. There's hardly any seats inside, because it's a small spot. They have like two tables. They don't have any outside seating. The Sammie's are HUGE! And filled, still not super NY style meat cuts but really good.

Cannot recommend this place enough. My girlfriend and I had seen this place a handful of times when visiting the ramen place next door. We finally had a craving for a good sandwich and decided to give this place a shot. We are happy we did. The food here is amazing! The sandwiches are loaded for the money. They are a little pricier at $13 on average but it's worth it in my opinion. I got the New York Steamer the first time and my girlfriend got the spicy Italian. The second time I got the mad Italian and she got the spicy Italian again. It was worth the money and the trip back. The sandwiches here are so flavorful and full of toppings so it beats all the other guys. They also have really good chips as well. All the flavors we've tried so far have been delicious. The service here is always prompt and friendly. They have a couple of people working at all times so you should be in and out pretty quick. The ambiance is cool because of all the football stuff the owner has in the back wall. I love all the Redskins/Commanders memorabilia. It makes it feel like a homey spot. Cannot recommend this place enough. I'm so glad we walked by here one day and noticed it.

I ordered an Italian sub and I thought it was just okay. I was expecting a better sandwich based on all of the 5 star reviews.

I stop at many local delis due to my job and I think I've officially found a favorite! Yummy soft bread, incredibly generous with the meat and cheeses, loads of toppings, and if you ask for extra peppers you really get extra peppers!!! Delicious sandwiches and quick efficient friendly service. I ordered eight cold sandwiches and was in and out in 10-15 minutes during Friday lunch. Small unsuspecting shop with filling and delicious subs at a fair price.

4/5! Definitely a fan of The Deli! I decided to try this place out after hearing all the positive reviews about their subs. I can say, was not disappointed. The store is a very simple Italian deli. You walk in, browse the menu and order at the counter, and it'll be made in seconds. The Food: I went with the Mad Italian, which came with Capicola, Mortadella, Pepperoni, Genoa and Provolone. All the meats and ingredients worked very well together and everything there was quality. They were very generous with the portions as well. I left very full and satisfied. The Service: The employees were nice. I came at a busy lunch time, but that gave me time to browse the menu and see all of their different selections. Once I ordered at the counter, they made my order fairly quickly and had me on my way. Overall, a smooth experience. I'll be back here again! Always nice to know there's a place around me that offers quality Italian subs.

As per our unspoken agreement, any time my boyfriend and I go for a long bike ride or hike, we order an Italian sub. It's the law. We biked many miles until our legs decided they needed a break. By that time we were in a town we've never been and were hungry. Did a quick Yelp search and saw this place and decided to come in and split the Mad Italian. It was very good, although not my favorite deli shop. I can say that it was almost too meaty/salty and didn't taste balance even though we asked for vinegar. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying another sandwich. I do agree with the other reviewers that the sandwiches are pretty expensive, which I get because of the current situation. But I also agree that if you're going to make customers wear a mask, then the employees should as well. The gentleman who rang us up did not.

So after meeting her local in person (and following her story for years before) I started going to whole foods again! While there, they have amazing fresh meals prepared and it allowed me and my lil to each choose our own meal for the day something we'd both love. Like others who have also reviewed the new one, I, too, envisioned it would be like the ones in Fair Lakes and Ashburn. But, alas, no :( Still, it is far better than the old location. While this one doesn't offer any seating areas where one can order food, it is more spacious. Thus, their produce section is larger than the meat and seafood sections. Although they brag about having a huge cheese selection, it's about the same size as it was before. The problem regarding the size of the place is most likely because Reston doesn't have a spot for a huge store. Unless they were to find a plot of land in a good location, then build a free-standing one. That would be pricey! We think the aisle signs could be better labeled. For example, we wanted to get some tofu, but despite wandering around, I couldn't find it. Finally, I saw an employee and asked him. He directed me to a refrigerated case that was near the bakery and sushi counter. Otherwise, we found everything we wanted to get. So, yes, we will return...but not to do all our shopping there. They don't call it "Whole Paycheck" for nothing.

Every culture has their own interpretation of taking the basic ingredients of flour, yeast, salt and water and transforming it via various baking methods into their version of "bread." There is a long history of using circular oval shaped ovens in Asia and the Middle East as a way of both conserving space and to efficiently cook foods with even heat distribution and small footprints in otherwise cramped kitchens. In India these ovens are called tandoors while in Japan they are referenced as kamados. Sauson International Grocery has been in operation since 2011, and the owner, who everyone knows as "Mr. Rashid," is of Persian descent having emigrated from Iran. He is always super friendly and willing to answer questions I may have about the wide variety of Middle Eastern spices and foods this place stocks. Don't be surprised if you strike up a conversation with him, and he offers you a cup of wonderfully spiced tea and a cookie or pastry from the delectable dessert case. As some of the reviews have noted, parking is tricky. There is a small covered garage under the building. But you may have to park at the nearby church or on the street and then walk over to the store. This place is well known for their bread, which is being made throughout the day. I came a bit later today, so they had just finished making a few batches. But it's not uncommon to witness skilled bakers kneading and rolling, and then slapping the dough onto the circular metallic oven for a few minutes, before piping hot fresh bread emerges. The bread is amazing. It is pliable, without being overly chewy. It is slightly salty, with a great smoky almost charred flavor. I've had it cut into pieces and then dipped with hummus or rolled into gyros or used to sandwich kabob meat. And believe it or not, it's even pretty good as a PB&J. Everyone, and I mean everyone, I've introduced this product to usually asks: (1). What type of bread is this? and (2). Where can I buy it? Note: As of this review, the current price is $8.05 for FOUR large round pieces of bread. Apart from the bread, there is also a small butcher shop in the back, and a kitchen where hot foods like kabob platters are made. There is also a small seating area in front of the store, where folks can sip tea and relax while enjoying sweets from the display case. Sauson is a really cool place and while I usually go with the intention of only buying bread, it's not uncommon for me to walk out with a few bags of unique Middle Eastern groceries.

Cocktails : Manhattan - top notch My sweet side piece - fun presentation with table side bubbles! Feels a bit like a fall drink. Warm spice. Very tasty and too easy to drink fast lol Apps: We got the baked shrimp and the beef carpaccio. Both outstanding and so flavorful. Just needed some bread to soak up the sauce in the baked shrimp. The lemon rind in the shrimp was a perfect compliment to the sauce and the carpaccio was perfectly seasoned and the thinnest slices I have ever had which made it delicate and delicious. Entrees: We got the sea bass and the short rib bolognese. Blown away by how good both of these were and so very different. The short rib bolognese had a rich but not heavy flavor with fresh pasta and a delightful velvety spiciness - not heat though. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked with a carrot ginger puree that was sublime with the spinach and fish. We loved both of these entrees. Really wanted dessert but sadly not more room which was better for our stomachs and our wallets. It's not a cheap endeavor here but worth the cost for a fabulous meal out and a very cool vibe.
