Twisted Sweets and Savory - Hungarian on Jalapeño Bagel sandwich!

In part, that was us not quite able to figure out exactly where it was. Grant Street, it turns out, is disjointed. In other words, it's not like it's just a straight shot from one end to the other. We stopped in here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. The place closes at 6 p.m., and are closed on Sunday. At that time of day, they weren't at all busy. The young man at the counter took our orders, and someone working in the back made the sandwiches. We just ordered savory items, so we can't speak to how the sweet items are (although some of them sounded so good). I ordered the salmon sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with dill cream cheese, filled with smoked Atlantic salmon, spring mix, cucumber, and red onion." The bread choices are everything bagel, jalapeno, and cheesy. I chose the everything bagel and asked for no onion. I found this sandwich to be tasty, but I thought they could have gone lighter with the dill cream cheese. The bread had a nice crispness. My husband ordered the ham and Swiss sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with paprika mayo and filled with black forest ham, Swiss cheese, fresh romaine hearts, spring mix, sweet pepper, tomato, cucumber, and red onion". He wasn't happy with the paprika mayo, as he says mustard would have worked better. Nor did he care for the sweet peppers. Now he knows not to order the default setting for this sandwich but instead to customize the toppings. They work with DoorDash, which, when ordering online, gives the option to customize one's order. There are high tables, the type that are found in bars, for those who want to eat their sandwiches there. The place is kept very clean.

The staff is always warm and welcoming, which makes it the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. They also have a rewards program you can sign up for, which is a nice little bonus if you end up becoming a regular (which is very easy to do here). One of my favorite things is that they serve breakfast sandwiches all day, which has officially made this my go-to hangover cure spot. The food is seriously impressive. I've tried their chicken burger (the best chicken burger I've ever had), the lox bagel with the perfect balance of flavors, and the caprese sandwich where every bite is a burst of freshness. The drinks deserve their own moment too. I used to think I didn't like matcha... until I tried it here. Their mango matcha and strawberry matcha are to die for. I recently tried their Lavender Kiss and it's sooo smooth, and the lavender is not overwhelming at all. And if you're in the mood for something that feels a little indulgent but still balanced, the tiramisu and biscoff lattes give you that dessert-like flavor without being overly sweet. Amazing food, creative drinks, great staff, and a cozy vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. Easily one of my favorite coffee spots!

The Latte is not as sweet as my son would like. We got the Baconado with croissant and that is probably not the best choice of bread. It did not hold up well against the egg and bacon. The place is large but almost all seatings were taken so they are extremely busy. As a result, the parking situation is really bad. So pack some patience when trying to find a parking spot.

She was very nice and helpful with me ordering my food for the first time. Now to the bad part. I've heard a bunch about this place and maybe it was hyped up a lil too much but I was disappointed with the food. I got the classic chicken salad croissant sandwich with couple sides. The broccoli side was pretty good. Tasted solid but I feel like it would be better hot or at least w melted cheese instead of just cold shredded pieces on top. The Mac cheese was just plain cheap microwaved stuff with bland runny sauce n no extra cheese on top. And then the sandwich. I've been obsessed w chicken salad sandwichs (specifically on a croissant) since my older brother used to work at Vie De France back in the 90's. I was excited to try this and it wasn't horrible or even bad but it wasn't great. The croissant was prob the worst part. Its like not a real croissant, it reminded me of something u would get on an airplane. It wasn't flaky and just kinda tastes like white bread. The chicken salad was also mid at best. Very bland and unimpressive Specially at almost 20 bucks for the platter. Maybe I should try one of the other kind. And I will. I'll give this place one more try. Maybe I'll update this then. But for now I do not recommend.
