I was trying to find a place to recommend to my coworker for a chicken cutlet. While a lot of places around say they do it, they are all just chicken parms. SOKO does the cutlet. When he went, they recommended the Philly as it is their staple. He got it, liked it, so I had to try it. A friend and I came so we got two sandwiches to split. The sandwiches are huge. We ordered one Philly and one steak sandwich cooked medium. The Philly was exceptional. Does it beat a place like Angelo's in downtown Philadelphia? No. Is it probably the best Philly you can get in the area? 100% Yes. The bread had good give to it and the meat and cheese were blended together perfectly. I plan to get this every time. While the Philly was phenomenal, you cannot discount the steak sandwich. It was good - the steak was cooked fresh. The sandwich featured some arugula type sprout and roasted red peppers. Overall the steak sandwich was a 4/5. It gets dinged because it just is not as good as the Philly. Made another trip to Leesburg to try more subs. A few updates- Cheesesteak was fire this time as the steak was chopped up nicely and the cheese and onions were melded in. Per my prior review there were large pieces of meat which changed the experience as you didn't get cheese melded with every bite. GIGA SANDWICHES. We got the Philly, the Takoma (option for hot or cold and we got cold), and fries. They had individual drinks for sale as well. Since I've had my first Philly steak and cheese at Delassandros and John's roast Pork... I've been disappointed at everything we offer here in VA... So when I heard about Soko... I had to come check it out! There is nothing better in VA. It is hands down the closest we have here in VA. I would however recommend you get the spicy peppers to cut the richness of the sandwich/cheese... The fries are ok... I wish they were closer to the five guys type of fries... but not bad. We got there 10min before it opened at 11am and people were already waiting outside... by the time we ordered people were out the door waiting. It was Saturday morning. Worth the hype. We drove 30min out to try their Phili sub and was 10/10. We got there at 4:05pm and there was a short, fast line. They did have a sign on the door saying "we are not taking orders from 3:45-4pm" so I imagine they get BUSY. This SOKO location has been getting a lot of attention from social media for their Philly cheesesteak. I have not had a decent cheesesteak since moving to the area. I arrived pretty early so there was no line at all. I placed my order for the Philly cheesesteak which is the prime rib, caramelized onion, housemade cheese wiz and mayo. My order was ready in less than 5 minutes. There is plenty of seating and a space to sit outside. The cheesesteak was good. We ate there on 8/11/2026 for the first time. I really like this place. Its very cute, maybe even eccentric. My wife had the Steak and Cheese. It was very tender. Nice ratio of meat to cheese to bread. The meat was very tender. It definitely needed some salt & pepper. I think it needs some sautéed green pepper to go along with the steak and onions. It was very tasty. I had the smash burger. I did enjoy it. It needed some salt. The hamburger patties were a little smaller then the bun. This is more like 2.7. THE GOOD: the cheesesteak is great. It's not as good as the best cheesesteak I've had, but it is the best I've had in this area. There's a reason all the 5 star reviews mention it. I do think it's too expensive but welcome to NOVA. THE MIDDLING: on the basis of the cheesesteak, when some friends were looking to get lunch with us, we picked SOKO. Wanting to try some of the other sandwiches, nobody ordered a cheesesteak. The portions are huge, but the positives unfortunately end there. The bulgogi sandwich was solid but nothing special. THE BAD: The roll on the hoagie-style sandwich was cut so far off center the top half was about 90% of the bread. The lamb focaccia sandwich was one of the most confusing eating experiences I've ever had. The lamb chunks were huge and looked nicely braised, and all the advertised fixings were obviously on the sandwich, but it tasted like nothing. The most ingredients for the blandest dish. The focaccia itself was weirdly bready, not bubbly, very thick, and very pale. The underside was almost white and completely soft. I would not call it focaccia. Cheesesteak is the way to go! There's about 4 2 top tables inside if you want to eat inside or a small bar along the outside porch. I ordered my cheesesteak and within 2 minutes it was ready. It was steaming hot and mighty fine! If you've not had one of these before, I highly recommend that you wear something you don't mind getting your sandwich on because it is messy! Absolutely worth the messiness! They've also got exceptional aged steaks and other goodies to take and make at home. It does have a different menu from their Takoma Park location and fortunately they both have the steak and cheese. The employees are extremely nice but I could tell we're frustrated by the volume of people trying to order food. The order was a cheesesteak, 2 smash burgers and 3 orders of fries. Everything felt like it was rushed. The fries were barely cooked and had no salt on them. The burger lacked seasoning. The bacon wasn't crispy at all. The cheesesteak was the one redeeming item. Went for the Philly and stayed for the music out front. Philly was fantastic and definitely one of the best in this area especially that they make their own wiz. Expect a bit of a wait if you are going at peak times and plan accordingly if you don't like waiting. It is a small location so it can easily get crowded. But the cherry on top was Joey Costello out front singing a combination of covers and original music playing to raise money for a cat rescue. He said he is normally there either Saturday or Sunday, so a bit hard to plan around that, but a pleasant surprise if he is there. He said his favorite sandwich is the Roseda Roast. It's more bread than meat. Secondly it's super bland compared to the Tokoma Patk location. If you are in a rush or limited time, wait until you have some time. It takes awhile to get your order but soooo worth it. They have so many different options at lunch time. We chose the Tommy Cutlet and The Philly with a side of fries. Skip the fries and try some of their different types of chips. My wife, Deluxia, and my son, Sneef, and I had lunch here the other day. When we walked in I was thrilled to see 2 giant steaks painted on the wall. **Disappointing Experience -- Movie Night Ruined** I ordered two chicken cheesesteaks, specifically asking for "chicken" because it was listed on the menu in the form of buffalo chicken. When I got home, I discovered that both sandwiches were made with beef. I called the restaurant several times, but no one answered. I then drove back just minutes before closing and was told that the menu is different at the Leesburg location and they do not have the classic chicken cheesesteak. That explanation was frustrating because I had been very specific when placing my order, and the gentleman who took it never told me that chicken cheesesteaks were not available. The manager seemed nice enough, but there was no offer to refund my money or otherwise make the situation right. This entire problem could have been avoided with a simple explanation when I placed the order. Our movie night was ruined, and I am out approximately $50 for food we did not order.
