Came here on a Saturday around 330pm. I always try to support local black owned restaurants. Ms. Peaches menu looked enticing and from the pictures it looked cute and Chic. When we arrived and got seated it no one game to greet us or even say "Hi your server will be with you shortly". Another employee was busy setting up another table , no one came to greet us. A decent deal for the brunch experience - got plenty of food for endless dishes, which, although aren't the best quality, are still solid. I believe the only dish I truly liked though were the catfish bites. Everything else was okay. I will say that service was very bumpy during my visit. The waiter seemed to mess up our orders multiple times and forgot to get us things we asked for numerous times. Although I was somewhat okay with the messed up orders at first for an endless dining experience, it did take away from dishes I actually wanted room to try. It did feel like our waiter was avoiding our table; checking in more on the tables adjacent to us but then not stopping by us or even walking past our table. You get a good amount of food for the price you pay for at $32 for unlimited brunch. The ambiance is also decorated nicely and the host at the front was friendly. The food was pretty good for the most part besides the dry chicken with the chicken and waffles and overcooked peach cobbler. The thing that went wrong though was the service. The waiter kept checking up on other tables besides ours and refilling their waters and not my table as we were right next to that table. The other tables also got their food and checks before us even though we arrived and ordered before them. We asked for hot sauce and water multiple times and didn't get either unless reminded of and asked for those several times. It also took about half an hour just for appetizers to come out and they brought out a whole plate of biscuits even though we didn't order that, brought out caesar salad even though we ordered the grilled peach salad, and never brought out the cheesy grits. I called in advance regarding reservations and asking questions and the host was very helpful. Reservations are an option, plus walk ins are available as well. We had the best time doing Sunday dinner at Miss peach's. First of all, it is such a feel good restaurants from the decor to the service. We started off with deviled eggs and also ordered their new, unlimited crab legs, and cornbread deal. The cornbread was to die for that we ordered several times. It comes warm. Of course you cannot go wrong with the fried chicken sandwich and the classic shrimp and grits. The biscuits are so damn good I'm convinced they're baked with a little butter and a little black magic. The cornbread? Equally dangerous. This is the Southern cooking I've been searching for. For a two-hour brunch, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, and the portions come out like they're trying to make sure you leave with leftovers and a nap scheduled. (Taking leftovers is not allowed with unlimited brunch) My all-time favorite is the shrimp and grits. I wish I had a picture, but every time I order it, I inhale it so fast the thought of a photo doesn't even cross my mind. If that's not a five-star endorsement, I don't know what is. Came with family for dinner during Restaurant Week because we were seeing lots of videos about Ms. Peaches and it looked amazing. We ordered the gumbo, deviled eggs, catfish bites, the southern fried chicken, pan seared salmon, the peach cobbler, and bread pudding. One of us also got a Lemon Meringue Martini which didn't really have much lemon flavor, just creamy. The appetizers (gumbo, eggs, catfish) were solid. The gumbo specifically had a good amount of meat and seafood. The salmon wasn't anything too special but the collards were ok. My fried chicken meal came with a biscuit and two sides (Mac and cheese and candied yams). They must have been too slammed in the kitchen because my candied yams didn't come until halfway through our meal. When we did get them, they...weren't for us. Just kind of bitter and dry, not sweet. The chicken was smaller than we expected, but good crunch. The biscuit also was pretty hard so it was difficult to eat. The Mac and cheese wasn't too bad though. The desserts were our favorite parts. Standard but good bread pudding with ice cream and the cobbler was also really good with the ice cream. Service was kind of all over the place but it seemed like our server was covering a lot of the floor themselves so it was hard to get their attention. First the gumbo some of the best I've had. Full of flavor you more than a cup. The cornbread hot with honey butter is a meal in itself, more than enough to share. The honey biscuits were my favorite. We came at 2:40 which was unfortunately too late for the unlimited brunch so we well have to come back earlier to try that. Before reviewing Ms. Peach's, we wanted to try both the supper and brunch menus. As for ambiance, they are aiming for the down-home comfort vibe. The chairs are either peach colored or light green. They also have outside dining. On our first visit, we tried the supper menu. I chose to have the "Fried whiting or blue catfish". Before deciding, I asked our server what the difference was between blue catfish and catfish. He said it was similar to crappie. I looked up blue catfish and found out it was much bigger than a catfish and a voracious predator. It's one of the few fish that eat Asian carp, an invasive species. So...I chose to have the whiting. This dish comes with house-made tartar sauce and two sides of your choice. I chose to try the collard greens and the cheesy grits. When the food arrived, I was shocked at how large the portions were! There was enough food to feed two people! The fried whiting was perfectly fried, crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the collard greens. They weren't well mixed, as the spice settled to the bottom, leaving the rest bland. Cracker Barrel has much better collard greens. The cheesy grits were okay if on the dull side. I should add that we had an appetizer --deviled eggs -- which were okay. My husband ordered the "shrimp and grits," which consists of: "jumbo shrimp, turkey sausage, tomato, scallions, creamy gouda grits, Cajun cream sauce". This past weekend, we tried items on the brunch menu. Brunch is served on the weekends and ends at 3 p.m. We got here around 1:30, and there were tables available. We both tried the "Southern classic breakfast," which consists of: "3 eggs any style, thick cut maple glazed grilled ham, breakfast potatoes, buttermilk biscuit, honey butter." I got my eggs fried over easy while my husband chose scrambled eggs. To drink, my husband had black coffee while I had sweet iced tea. The kitchen was very slow. When our entrees arrived, our server, while handing me my plate, said the eggs were hard-cooked. I reminded him that I ordered them over easy. He apologized and said he would bring new eggs that were over easy. The so-called hard-cooked eggs did have some runny yolk in them, but not much. As for the food -- the grilled ham wasn't thick-cut; the slices were thin, and it was on the dry side. The potatoes were okay. I liked the sauteed onions in them. Let me start by saying I'm from the South--Florida girl . I never order greens at restaurants because most folks don't bring their ancestors into the kitchen with them (except The Park). Food is good. The setting is cheerful, bright and inviting enough. Service, for us at least, was simply awful. We ordered a single appetizer, three sodas, and then, a few minutes later, two entrées. My wife and I both asked for white-meat chicken, and the waiter said that it might not be possible but that he would come back and tell us if they were out of white meat. Then we waited. And waited. Patiently. Two other parties were seated and served appetizers and then entrées. When we asked where our appetizer was, the waiter said "it's on its way" and immediately went to the order system and typed something. It arrived a few minutes later. Perhaps three minutes after that, he brought us two plates of dark-meat chicken. We mentioned that we had ordered something else, and he denied having told us that he would check, saying that it wasn't possible to prepare anything else but MAYBE he could ask. So we waited another ten minutes, eating sides. Eventually the host came over, we explained what had happened, and he brought us white-meat chicken (though only one piece each) almost immediately. Here's what's frustrating: the food was quite good. A big cornbread serving with honey on top, great cheese grits, juicy and well-brined chicken, excellent smokey collard greens, flaky biscuits with honey butter, and waffles that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I tipped 20 percent anyway to as not to punish the other staff but this was the closest I can remember coming to not leaving a tip at all. Will I give it another chance? Maybe. My family and I tried several things on the menu - the chicken and waffles, the fried catfish, the fried whiting, and the fried chicken meal...and various sides (Mac and cheese, yams, greens, succotash). The best thing we had was the whiting and the catfish. Both were excellent. The mac and cheese was passable. The rest of the sides were forgettable. I was so hopeful for the new "southern" restaurant in northern Virginia. It missed the mark by a long shot. I decided to stop in on a midweek day and noticed that the restaurant was completely empty. The selected music playlist seemed like they were catering to a specific demographic accompanied by the art on the wall, but it felt much like a cosplay of a black southern restaurant. The hostess greeted me but the rest of the servers just glared in my direction while they congregated at the back of the restaurant. I honestly did not feel fully welcome to come into this already empty establishment. Now to the food. Let's just say, I will never come back. Maybe the drinks are decent but the food is not at all. Catfish Nuggets: Tasted like they were coated in funnel cake batter before being fried. The coating was sweet and lacked seasoning. There was more batter than fish and the fish texture was mushy. I ate two and gave out two to make sure I didn't just get a bad piece, but they were consistently the same. I have never had a sweet battered catfish nugget from a southern restaurant in my life. I couldn't even finish the small plate received. I truly wish I could've got a refund on that. Candied Yams: Tasted like they were prepared to be put in a pie or cobbler. They were not regular seasoned sweet potatoes, not even straight from the can tastes like that. Macaroni and Cheese: Curled Elbow noodles with a dollop of white sauce. Could've possibly been Alfredo sauce from the taste, but had an aftertaste of bacon and unseasoned bread crumbles. This was definitely not a southern macaroni dish, by far. This wasn't even Kraft worthy mac n cheese. I tried to understand the vision while I ate it but it did not align with the restaurant's portrayal. Whiting: This was the only truly edible dish but I would still opt out of ordering it again. It had a fishy taste like it was not fresh or had been sitting out for a while. I learned from Ziniah that most of the negative reviews were from people who had not made a reservation. So be sure to make a reservation. It took me almost 3 weeks to find an after-church lunch reservation. But I am glad we waited. We had the unlimited brunch. As a party of three, we tried deviled eggs (excellent), catfish bites (very addictive), cornbread (this was my favorite, I'm still dreaming about having it again), biscuits and honey (excellent), shrimp and grits (good), chicken and waffle, Southern breakfast, peach cobbler, pecan pie (excellent), and a chocolate milkshake. I really wanted to like this place. I'm a southerner so good fried chicken is something I look forward to finding in the area. Ms. Peach's isn't it. When we ordered we were told we couldn't pick white or dark meat. We would get what they served us. I personally don't like dark meat chicken. Nothing wrong it, just a preference. They did give both of us breasts, so kudos for that. The breading was more of a semi detached crust that wasn't actually adhering to the meat. They obviously don't brine their chicken because all of the seasoning was in the crust. The breast itself had no seasoning and was bland. After having a good carryout experience here we stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Total opposite of the carryout experience. The place was moderately busy with about half the tables occupied and they were doing a brisk carryout business. There was plenty of staff, but they seemed really disorganized. What stood out though, was that all the unoccupied tables hadn't been bussed and were filled with dirty dishes. They had to clear a table so we could sit. So maybe they just finished up the dinner rush and didn't have a chance to bus and clean the tables. Wrong. We were there for over an hour and the dirty dishes sat on the tables around us and weren't touched, even though the staff had plenty of opportunity to clear them. Apparently busing dirty dishes and cleaning tables is not a focus of this establishment. We ate our dinner surrounded by empty tables of half-eaten food, crumpled greasy napkins, and dirty dishes. Totally disgusting! Our server was new and awkward and forgot to bring the glass of wine we ordered. It sat on the bar for 10 minutes before we reminded her of it. She totally forgot. She wasn't that busy. The person who we were told was the manager, wasn't managing. She was processing carryout orders and walking around looking important. She wasn't interacting with or directing the staff, who clearly needed her direction. The food came out in a reasonable period of time but wasn't the same quality as the first carry out we ordered a couple weeks prior. The fried chicken and Gumbo were hot but the side dishes were cold. Some thoughts on menu items: The Gumbo is excellent but order it dry--the broth makes the rest of the ingredients soggy Shrimp and grits were good but skip the Cajun cream sauce or order it on the side. It overwhelms the rest of the dish and makes it watery. The fried chicken, while not bad, is totally forgettable. Catfish bites app was good, but the portion was extremely small for $14 Ms. Peaches is part of the Thompson Restaurant Group, a local chain like Great American, but nowhere near as good. In general, the prices are expensive for what you get. Not a good value. The wine and beer selection is a joke. Overpriced and terrible quality. Only three bottled beers (Miller Light, Blue Moon, and Modello) for $9 a bottle. Nothing on tap. For a restaurant that has entree prices in the mid $20's to low $30's the wine selection was more reminiscent of a local dive bar than a wannabe upscale restaurant. The same wine would be much cheaper at the dive bar though. Food is overpriced for a neighborhood strip mall restaurant. Might try carry-out one more time but not going to eat in the restaurant again. read more

First time here love how the staff are very attentive and the food is tasty! I tried the chicken and waffles and loved the dark meat part of the chicken the one white meat I got was a bit dry for me but everything else was delish! The potatos were very crispy and the chicken coating was quite crisp too. Love the aesthetics of this place !!!! read more

I normally wait for at least 3 visits before I review a restaurant, but in this case I'll make an exception and give this review after just 2 visits. Ms. Peach's is a GREAT addition to the LoCo restaurant scene. When so many of my favorites are disappearing, I'm so happy to be able to add one to my list of favorites. I'm an old school soul food lover (are we still allowed to call it that?), and so many places have come and gone that have been bad (So Damned Soulful- microwaved trash, Johnny Ray's- he can't stay in one location and he has clearly switched to a lot of frozen food), but Ms. Peach's is off to a wonderful start. I loved seeing the restaurant packed when I went there, and happy people were leaving. I love the fried chicken, it's cooked perfectly- crispy outside and moist and juicy inside, with just the right amount of spice added to the breading. The mac & cheese is really good, it's not mushy like so many other places, and the cheese is delicious. The greens are great, and the biscuits....oh, the biscuits! Listen, I'm not really a biscuit guy, I always find them dry and they make me drink half a gallon of water, but these are perfect, and the honey and peach preserves are a great addition. Best biscuits in the DMV if you ask me and my biscuit loving wife. The waffles are great, and the salads are terrific as well. If I could add one thing to the menu, I'd add fried okra- it's a staple on soul food...er...comfort food restaurant menus, and it should be added here. Also, I found the peaches in the peach cobbler to have a bit of a sour taste and so did my family, but that's an easy fix. I am going to be a very regular customer at Ms. Peach's and I'm going to love every minute of it. The service is fine, everyone is friendly and working hard. I went to Ms. Peaches today 1130am My review Food notes: * Deviled eggs -- good! (No vinegar, please.) * Eggs -- 4 as an entrée, 2 with brunch. * Catfish bites -- tasty * Honey biscuits -- good, but not Milk & Honey good. Chicken & Waffles: I ordered dark meat only -- a leg, wing, and thigh. I ate the leg and wing, both were seasoned perfectly, piping hot and not too salty. But when Tommy opened the thigh, there was a stringy, semi-bloody situation going on -- not ideal. The manager came over promptly, addressed it, and apologized. The waffle, however, was not waffling -- room temperature at best. Desserts (included with the $32 brunch): The brunch deal includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. We tried all three dessert options: * Pecan pie -- just okay. * Bread pudding -- dry as the Sahara Desert. * Peach cobbler -- more like a peach empanada impersonating cobbler. Tip: Confirm with your server whether brunch is available during breakfast hours -- it's a better deal at around $32 for apps, entrée, and dessert. SERVICE WAS GREAT ! read more
