Wonderful experience! We were in the area and feeling something familiar. Yelp suggested this gem and off we went! The restaurant is located in a golf course clubhouse which was a surprise as the golf clientele didn't seem to match but we were wonderfully surprised to see brisk business as we enjoyed our breakfast. The breakfast Ube burger bun was fluffy Ube pancake, which would be awesome just on its own as a stack. I usually have them with coconut syrup so hint hint egg karne! My wife had the breakfast bowl with longanisa which she also enjoyed. She doesn't like atchara but I ate it up and can say that it's not as vinegar-y as traditional but probably for the best as it would have probably overpowered everything else. This place has been in my "Must Try" collection for some time now and I finally had the chance to make it happen. I was glad to have reread reviews so that I realized it was on the Herndon public golf course bc if not I would've sworn I was being punked. #1 customer service is a perfect 5 stars! The gentleman running the front of house was so pleasant and patient and helped me make decisions on the menu (& we had great conversation while I waited). #2 all food is cooked to order and fresh! #3 a very unexpected menu given the location and it's definitely authentic! Whenever I see SPAM on a menu I'm ordering it bc I mean how often do you get to grub on retro goodness? The SPAM fries were crispy and salty and all the things SPAM dreams are made of. The Ube Waffle was so unique and the macerated strawberries and Ube syrup that accompanied it were wonderful! Five stars for the ube breakfast sandwiches and the breakfast sandwiches as a whole. We came here after the falls and I'm soooo glad. The ube bun on my sandwich (pictured) was so delicious. I didn't use the ube sauce because the bread was already a bit sweeter than I prefer but the sweetness with the savory/salty meat was amazing. The sandwich was also huge and filling. I only ate half in one sitting. On location: this restaurant is located on the golf course but it's publicly accessible and it's not awkward at all. Only reason I'm giving four stars is because the lumpia was terrible. It was nothing like my Tita's or any other lumpia I've ever had. I couldn't tell from the pictures that Egg Karne was a little odd-spot café for the Herndon golf course. I was starting to doubt my Google Maps directions but fortunately, I saw their small logo on the building. The entrance was also weird. It felt like an emergency exit of the building and kind of prompted me to return to my car but I was like, "Heck, I'm here, let's find out" and went in. The décor was also not quite there. I read somewhere that the golf course sponsors it. Its owner probably wanted to offer food to the golfers. The overall feel of the place wasn't very welcoming or inviting. Its primary function was perhaps to provide some food and not much else. Honestly, if the food tastes good, I don't care about any of that. So, how was the FOOD? The meat bowls were tasty. The runny egg, oiled-up rice, and fresh chilis brought the balance. The downside to Egg Karne is that I didn't see anything else I wanted to try on the menu. The meat bowls were it. It's at a golf course. One of the staff was rude like trying to rush us. It wasn't really relaxing because there old men cackling. We got the Lumpiang Filipino Beef Egg Rolls, Ube Waffle, Ube Breakfast Burger. The lumpia you could tell it was frozen. The ube waffle should have been paired with coconut ice cream with condense milk. The ube breakfast burger was tiny and it didnt taste like ube. This shop is located inside a golf course in Herndon. It's small inside but with big flavors of yummy dishes!! My favorite is their sweet pork longanisa silog bowl and spicy beef lumpia! If you have not had sweet pork longanisa, it is like sausage meat that is sweet sticky savory but it is ground up and topped on their seasoned rice. Their spicy lumpias are so good, always fresh. Crispy outer layer and very well seasoned stuffing inside. They do get busy, so we usually order pick up. And food is usually ready in 15-20 minutes. read more

We stopped by for brunch on our way out of town. We had no idea that Egg Karne was located on the Herndon Golf Course. While that was initially a bit shocking, once we saw the menu, we decided to stay and give it a go. So glad we did! I haven't been able to find a lot of Filipino food home. The idea of spam fries was probably the hook. We both got the Silog breakfast - one with sausage and one with pork belly. We felt it gave us a chance to try most of the menu, however, we did miss out on the Ube Waffle (neither of us were in Waffle mood). I cleaned my plate - the best recommendation I could give regarding the food quality. Portion size was decent. Yes, I would wish for a bit more, however, the prices are decent for what you get. Drinks, even soft drinks, were a bit pricy, but that is a function of being on a golf course. Speaking of the course, there is a few seats in the back that give you an excellent view. Sorry guys, I can't agree with all these rave reviews. There is or was an Egg Karne inside the 99 Ranch in Fairfax... they never seemed to have lechon sisig or adobo, so I thought I'd come out to the restaurant. I was definitely surprised it was on a golf course! We came around 2pm on a Sunday. Prime time for food considering the golfers right? Well right off the bat several menu choices were not available including fish and chicken tenders. These are not difficult ingredients typically as they are fried.. but ok. We settled on a sisig bowl, adobo fries, and ube waffle. I've had a lot of sisig and this one is heavily seasoned with liver. It's not crispy at all, and was only so-so. It was a bit disappointing as we frequently order sisig from other places and this one wasn't quite up to par. Next was the adobo fries. Basic ingredients for adobo are soy sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar. The best part of the adobo is letting all the ingredients meld together. Unfortunately these ingredients seemed quickly put together. The vinegar taste was quite strong and not well-balanced. It was like someone was making adobo for the first time. Lastly, we had the ube waffle. Since chicken wasn't available, we just had it plain. The sauce is actually quite nice though you don't get much ube flavor in the waffle itself. About three years ago, I attended a Yelp Elite event in Rosslyn, and met a couple fellow Elite members who first told me about Egg Karne. I heard great things about this place and bookmarked it. Today, I decided to finally check it out with a friend, and was pleasantly satisfied with everything about Egg Karne. First, I was surprised that this place is truly situated at a golf course. Located in a residential area right before Historic Herndon, this place is tucked away at the Herndon Centennial Golf Course. I went inside and was surprised the amount of seating available. Raj was super friendly, and took the time to explain to my Filipino friend the various menu choices. We ultimately decided on the Lechon Sisig, Adobo Pork Belly Fries, Longanisa, and Ube Waffle with Chicken. I really enjoyed my Lechon Sisig. The chili peppers add the extra kick and flavor to the already delectable dish. I probably could have gone without the fries, as it was not super special to rave about. My girlfriend picked this place for lunch since we were making a few stops in the area. We've been trying to come here ever since it opened but we never had the chance. It's located right along a golf course, in the same building as the shop. We were having late lunch so there were only 2-3 people in their dining room which is a pretty decent size. They have a pretty big menu but we both ordered a longsilog bowl and an order of adobo fries. It did not take too long obviously and when it came out I was shocked at the amount of food. Well, I mean we brought it on ourselves. The adobo fry portion was huge! Very cheesy and a decent amount of meat. Not exactly the adobo flavor I'm used to but still pretty good. Only finished half. The longsilog bowls were also pretty weighty but I'll eat almost any meat over rice and just destroyed it. It's not whole longanisa links but more chopped up but still good. Lot of rice too which I love but wish there was a little more atsara. Lumpia was decent, not really meaty but I wouldn't say no to more! They have such a large menu that it would take forever to try everything but I would definitely come back. Hopefully they do open another location like this. Came here with friends for breakfast one weekday and it was nice to see several others eating here as well, as it's in a very odd location, in a golf club house. The lady who runs it is very friendly and helpful. The place is huge, with lots of tables and their menu is very interesting, as it's loaded with lots of unique, Filipino dishes. The food is cooked to order, so it might take an extra minute, but it's so well-worth the wait!! Their spicy lumpia is incredible and has a heat that'll hit you a minute after taking a bite - YUM! Maybe it was me cause I tried it for the first time and the taste didn't feel right. Anyways on the other hand the Lumpia. Oh God I think by far the unseasoned lumpia I ever eaten in my life . Yes my ancestors from PI so I get very picky when I eat lumpia. This one's had crunchy outside but the meat was Bland. and the sauce OMG they water it down with vinegar. So if you like Vinegar that's your thing I don't. I Been to this place before but I moved during COVID and was so excited to come visit again when I came to the area. I ordered the silog with pork belly, ube waffles with chicken fingers, and beef empanadas. Empanadas were too salty. Pork belly was dry and tough, not even a single piece of crispy skin. Around noon, though the course was quite busy, we were the only ones in the restaurant the entire time we ate. Not sure if it never gets busy? There a decent amount of partly covered outdoor seating. We ordered several different dishes to try including sisig, breakfast sandwich, adobo fries, silog, and lumpia. All were pretty good with the exception of the lumpia (filling tasted mushy) and the fries (cheese was already cold and had already hardened into a glob). The food is a SOLID 5/5 Where else can you get a hearty bowl of longaniza + egg over a splash of sriracha before your round? This Filipino fusion spot focuses on breakfast and lunch offering trendy new dishes like Sisig Fries, Longanisa Brioche breakfast sandwiches, Arroz Caldo Fried balls (a Filipino take on Arancini), and Fried Chicken with Ube Waffles. Their waffle maker was down when we stopped by, but they were still able to whip up some delicious Ube Pancakes for us served with a special Ube Sauce and fresh Strawberries. The Ube flavor was very mild, but went well with the sauce and strawberries. We also tried the Pork Belly Adobo Fries. This is not for one person! This massive portion of fries is smothered in melted cheese and tangy adobo. My mom and I shared a portion and still couldnt finish it all! I would love to go back and try all of their menu items. The Filipino Fusion restaurants in the area are normally pretty pricey, but Egg Karne has much more affordable prices in comparison. The pancakes were about $7.50 and the massive fries was about $8.50. Those fries would have cost significantly more at any of the Filipino spots closer to DC. My husband was very pleased. The Silog breakfast meets the traditional style of the dish. The longanisa was chopped it which is a different than how I serve it at home but actually a welcome change. I may start chopping my longanisa when serving it at home. We also ordered some lumpia for a shared side. Very tasty but also slightly different style than we are used. Past this place a couple time before realizing it was actually part of the Herndon Golf Course! Had to try this hidden gem that's been invading my For You page on TikTok. We shared the Silong Breakfast Bowl and Adobo Pork Belly Fries. The fries were phenomenal and surprisingly weren't too salty as expected. The fries maintained their crispiness throughout the whole meal and the cheese really pulled everything together. My mom thought there wasn't enough meat and too much fry but that's probably cause my dad and I ate all the meat first. :) The Silong bowl was delicious as well and had tons of meat. The rice was flavorful and not too dry. The egg was PERFECTLY cooked - with the yolk runny when cut (my fav!). They forgot the lumpia in the bowl and quickly ran out to give it to us (very nice workers). Overall a great restaurant! The staff was friendly and customer service was excellent. I was craving sweet and savory for breakfast so after a long back and forth I decided on the Ube Breakfast Sandwich. For anyone that's not familiar with Ube, it's purple yam and a staple in the Philippines. I grew up eating it but it's only been trending in the last few years. The bread was made with Ube and the the middle part had a double meat of longanisa (Filipino sweet sausage), fried egg, and oozing with cheddar cheese. A hardy, delicious, and exceptional sandwich! The Ube bread was soft and delightful, I could eat it by itself. The sandwich came with an Ube sauce to drizzle on top of the sandwich and ohh-bae I was hooked. Overall, a pleasurable experience! Why is this my first review of Egg Karne? I am a devoted Ig and FB follower. I've dined here numerous times. Well, this review is long overdue. Filipino fast food is such a rare treat in the DMV. We discovered Egg Karne when the hubby played a round of golf with his buddies. He mentioned something about Spam and I did my research. A couple of years if they had a limited menu and yesterday. We took my parents here for a quick brunch. The menu was quite large compared to 2 years ago. Ordering is done through a walk up counter and then they buzz you when your food is ready. We started with a few items from the sharing the snacks menu: beef lumpia, vegetable lumpia and spam fries. My mom had the Silog that consisted of garlic fried rice, a fried egg and chopped up Longanisa(Filipino pork sausage). It was a gigantic bowl for about $7. My dad had the Buttermilk silver dollar pancakes that included 2 fried eggs and a Longanisa sausage patty. Hubby had a chorizo breakfast sandwich and a side of fries. I just ordered a couple Longanisa sausage patties and a side of garlic fried rice. The spam fries come with a spicy mayo and the lumpia comes with a couple types of vinegar and sweet sauces. All were delicious. Food is made fresh and you are definitely getting your money's worth. Staff is super friendly. The drinks are canned or bottled from their self service fridge. So good! First of all, I was not expecting this place to be at a golf course! My husband and I were so thrown off when we pulled into the parking lot that we thought we pulled up to the wrong place! We were right though. To the side of the golf shop lies a hidden gem of Filipino food with large windows looking out into the golf course. I took my husband here for his birthday breakfast! We don't care about golf, but we're obsessed with their breakfast sandwiches with that buttery brioche-- I personally prefer the adobo pork belly flavor marginally over the longanisa sausage-- and try to stop by whenever we're en route to Virginia wineries/breweries. Garlic fried rice is a little heavy, but an undeniable complement to their grilled meats. The beef lumpia were fine, if a bit conservative on the filling. The spam fries are decadent and best warm, so share those immediately between 2-3 people. We ordered the chicken skewers, scrambled egg and cheese omelet bacon, Longanisa and sausage sandwiches. We loved the sandwiches since the meats were seasoned well. The combination of cheese with the runny egg, brioche buns and the meats added some great texture. You know the sandwiches are good when they have small brown bags for each one. Hubby and I stopped here one day to have brunch after going somewhere else and it being closed. If was fairly empty we sat in the back under the chandelier which is very pretty and you can see people playing golf from there. The food came out fairly quickly and The food was good.
