The very first time I came here with my daughter it was exceptional. I wish I remembered my servers name, he was AWESOME. a shorter Latino man, not Moises - as he was my server this time. I'm unsure if this is per server, or if it's first watch standard - but my complaint is this If your guests are actively eating their food, and there's dirty plates on the table and you haven't even bothered to pre bus, offer me refills on my empty water, or provide any steps of service - why on earth are you dropping check off? I hadn't even asked for it and I was in the middle of my meal, when he approached with the check I asked him "how do you even know I'm finished" bc to be honest my daughter and I were going to order pancakes, but now I'm turned off and don't want to spend a $ more. I'm a retired server/bartender. I was in the industry for 15 years. Have your staff trained on appropriate steps of service. I have never been to a First Watch before so I wanted to try this with a friend. Food (5/5): I have nothing negative to say about the food. The coffee was good and free flowing. I had at the $14 half and half lunch deal, which got me a half Monterey Jack and turkey melt sammie and a half avocado Cobb salad. I was going to eat half of this but it was so good that I ate the entire thing. The sandwich on brioche bread was really great. I really liked the sweet bread that the ham and cheese was on. Average experience with a few opportunities Parking is abundant and easy to find! Service was mixed bag. There was no one to greet/seat me upon entering for a few minutes which wasn't the biggest deal, when a hostess did approach the front desk another customer cut me, the hostess serviced them before I, and did not excuse themselves to do so; I felt invisible. When addressing me no "Hi", no "Hello", straight to "are you Dining in or taking out". When getting seated my server asked me if I was ready to order 3 times within 6 minute, but also didn't approach in the warmest manner; I don't think he meant harm by it, but it felt rushed. I watched that same server connect with other customers without that same urgency to place an order so it wa strange. The food was great! I got the Chickichanga with a side of homestyle potatoes along with coffee, and a Mocha Mint Iced Coffee! All straight bangers, all great recommendations I'd suggest. My only suggestion is putting coffee creamers into actual refrigerated containers instead of using the little Delight Plastic containers; it would be more classy, you've invested so much into presentation this would be the cherry on top. Also it would save on plastic. The restaurant is beautiful! I'm a big fan of First Watch. I've been to their locations in Chantilly, Charlottesville, and Pittsburgh; they are great with giving each restaurant its own personality. I asked to swap for gluten free toast and it never came. I reminded the runner, never saw the server until he brought the bill. He declined to make any adjustments to the bill. Grand opening of First Watch in Reston in the former Carrabba's location next to Chic Fil a and across from Target. We signed up for Friends & Family which is a great opportunity to try a new addition to the community. Kudos to the First Watch corporation for doing this. We were frequent diners at Carrabbas and the remodel job is outstanding. Very modern look and a large outdoor covered area which makes for a very pleasant dining experience especially on a beautiful spring afternoon. The food? First Watch is a more upscale IHOP or Cracker Barrel is my assessment. The Elevated Egg Sandwich, Works Omelette, Floridian French Toast and the Honey Pecan Salad were all spot on and tasty. Portions are quite large and the omelette and egg sandwich comes with nicely browned potatoes. Coffee was also very good. First Watch has been expanding significantly and we're glad there is a location in Reston. We will be adding First Watch Reston to our roster of breakfast restaurants. One note...Friends and Family provides an opportunity for staff to get acclimated and 'dry run' with real customers. You could tell our waitress was new to waiting tables so service was definitely on the slow side. Honestly, I love first watch, but this location was quite a disappointment. Great location with plenty of parking but the staff seem unorganized and overwhelm with too much customer. Ambiance nice and clean. Kale tonic $5.79 - Nice refreshing green drink full with veggie Pick 2 $11.99- The Ham sandwhich was delicious but the salad barely have any chicken or dressing on it. This location had a "soft opening" on Saturday 17th and Sunday18th of May, Opening day was Monday, 19th of May and we went for the first time on Tuesday, 20th of May. I am happy to say that the staff "has it together". We spoke with one of the trainers and the trainers will be here until this weekend. Clearly, the staff seems to all be new, but are doing a great job. This is the 4th First Watch we had visited. This in Reston seems to be the most efficient one so far. Maybe it is because this is a new location, but I hope that the great service and quality of the food continues. We had the usual Trifecta (i.e., Belgium waffle, eggs and bacon but without the blueberry compote as we find it too sweet). The waffle was cooked correctly with crisp edges, the bacon is some of the best we have had at any restaurant and the eggs were cooked perfectly. We asked for warm syrup and it was warm. And, payment can be made at the table by scanning the bill with your camera phone or pay at the register. Out waitress, Jennifer, did a great job. We wish her the best of luck in this new job. I came here on a late Sunday morning with my dog. They had a nice outdoor patio and offered him some water too. I didn't wait to be seated because I put myself in line on the app. It gave me a time estimate, and when I arrived it was accurate and I was seated immediately. My server was Bridget. She was very friendly. My food was delicious! I got a cold brew alcoholic drink, lemon ricotta pancakes, and million dollar bacon. It was a huge amount of food and everything was delicious. My only complaint is the bacon was soggy, but I don't think it's possible for bacon covered in syrup to be not soggy. Overall I had a great experience! (Which was fine. ) Apparently the bar is first come, first serve seating, but it was full. They currently have a fall menu, everything looked so tasty. We ordered a mimosa and iced coffee. I usually love First Watch, but I will never return to this location. I came in last Saturday morning a little before 8am. The restaurant was very slow, and I was waiting to pick up a to-go order. During my wait, about five employees walked by me. Not one of them said hello, looked at me, or even acknowledged that I was there. Meanwhile, I watched other customers get greeted and assisted right away. Eventually, I just grabbed my order off the pickup cart and left, still without a single word from anyone on staff. As someone who is a big fan of First Watch, this was very disappointing. I don't want to assume intentions, but I couldn't help but notice I was the only Black person in the restaurant, and the lack of acknowledgment stung. This experience was unacceptable, and unfortunately, I won't be back to this location. read more

Sunday breakfast (the 2nd time we've been there in a month) table for 2. Wait time was as quoted and about 30 mins for a Sunday around noon. My husband had the traditional breakfast with over easy eggs, potatoes, ham and sides of grits and 1 biscuit & gravy. That's his go-to order at First Watch and never disappoints. The biscuit & gravy was really good! It seems they cut a biscuit in half and toast it and then pour gravy on top and it was quite tasty. Off the new fall menu I had the maple bacon croissant sandwich which is delicious! The combo of sausage and maple with the apricot jam on a buttery croissant is fantastic. Food was excellent this visit thankfully because the service was awful. Once seated we weren't greeted for 10 minutes. Food took over 1/2 an hour to arrive. Server was very apologetic for the late greeting and acknowledged it took a really long time for our food. Then she was never to be seen again except in passing. I got the blazing dragon juice drink which was very good and my husband had coffee, small OJ and small glass of milk but she never brought the water to our table at all. I will add that the server gave us 2 cups of coffee even though we only ordered one. No clearing of plates or glasses and we waited almost 15 minutes after finishing our meal for her to come back to our table. 2 mugs, 3 glasses, 2 entrees and 2 additional sides is a lot of stuff to have on your table for the entirety of the meal. If she had brought water she would have had to make room for the cute carafe they serve it in and 2 more glasses. All in all, great food and check was $47 after using free entree promo but sadly the service is hugely lacking in comparison. We will go back for the food but will bring my water bottle in with me next time just in case service hasn't improved. read more

I've been here four times. When I like a dish I usually stick with what I know. I ordered the BLT Eggs Benedict three times. It is served with a side of greens lightly tossed in a yummy lemon vinaigrette and it is delicious!! My sister in law had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and she loved it. It was a lot of food for her so she ended up getting a to-go-box, but it was delicious (her words). On my first visit I had the French toast although not my favorite, it tasted better with the warm syrup. The food is good and it is a great place for a lazy weekend breakfast. read more

I just had the most unpleasant experience at Reston's recently opened First Watch location. It's a steamy 89 degrees outside and the host seats my party near a propped door with an adjacent side by the bar area that is opened to the patio. When I approach the host, he said he would send over the Manager - but they never did. Then when our food was served, it was not as I ordered it. Even when they attempt to re-serve it, it still was not made as ordered and needed to be re-made once again. Incredibly disappointing dining experience. What was most troubling was the apathetic and unapologetic response I received from the Manager, Bernadette. I have been frequenting First Watch for decades and this is not the level of service I have come to expect. One and done for me! read more

We visited here on a Friday morning and it was busy, but thankfully we were able to get seated right away. Our waitress was quick but not super friendly. I guess what matters is she got the job done. Our food came out quickly and to be honest, everything tasted okay. We ordered the Traditional Breakfast, Healthy Turkey, and Biscuits & Turkey Sausage Gravy with Eggs. The Healthy Turkey hardly had any turkey or cheese. I could've made this at home. Overall, the food isn't bad, but the ambiance was clean and comfortable. After dining at several other locations, in different states, we were quite disappointed by our recent dining experience. The Pros: Great location with plenty of parking and the option of outdoor dining. Easy "join the waitlist" feature is nice. Bathrooms were clean. The Cons: The kitchen and wait staff were both unorganized, overwhelmed and seemed to lack proper training. Our server took far too long to get to our table and barely spoke above a whisper, making it impossible to hear her in the crowded loud dining room. We had to ask for water three times. She definitely hasn't been taught how to prioritize tasks, which led to her making repeat trips to our table. I had to ask for a clean coffee cup and sadly, the coffee was some of the worst I've had. That's a major problem for a breakfast/brunch restaurant. My husband's waffle came out stone cold and had to be made over, with second one coming out hot, but not cooked as requested. My food was lukewarm. We had to ask for syrup which came out cold. We asked for warm syrup and that took forever. As an aside, I don't understand why there were chives on my eggs and bacon. We noticed only a few staff members were moving with any motivation and speed. Most were walking slowly around and clearing tables in slow motion, as if the place wasn't full of diners and on 25-40 minute wait. This place has loads of potential, but if they want to survive in this area, these issues must will require management to conduct extensive discussion and re-training of staff to get their team functioning effectively and efficiently. read more

Okay as my last visit, Reston, I'll point out that I have been to three local locations and all of them had problems. One, Leesburg was a ham sandwich that was inedible because you couldn't bite through it. The other Reston was an eggs Benedict that's eggs were way over cooked and then today shrimp and grits, Sterling that were less grits and more oil and butter crap. Three strikes and you're out. I ate at the Harrisburg PA location and everything was fine but here in Northern Virginia nothing goes well. I'm going back to Virginia Kitchen or Sidebar in Leesburg. Good luck read more

We wanted to try this restaurant for a while and we were disappointed. We were seated and ready to go but no one stopped by to say hello or take our drink orders for near 15 minutes. We decided to leave because we were not served at all. Also, the ambiance of the place was so basic it was not pleasant, the interior was blend and gave off a school cafeteria atmosphere. We went to First Watch during their first fully open week. We used the mobile app to put our names on the list, but still had to wait an additional 15 minutes after the quoted time. We had an initial interaction with the manager that should have been a warning that the remainder of the visit would not be positive. After waiting for 35 minutes at the table, I inquired about the delay and when our food was going to come out. The manager responded by saying, "it's our first weekend open and everyone is new!" While I understand that, the way it was delivered was almost as if I was asking for something unreasonable. Because the staff are new and it's opening weekend, customers are still paying full price for their meals, right? If yes, then we should expect FULL service, which includes food arriving quickly - and communication from management if there are delays. The manager then said to me, "well are you going to wait or not?" What happened to basic customer service?! As a loyal First Watch customer (we've been going to FW for over 10 years - when they only had the Greenbriar location), I have no intention of returning to the Reston location after this horrible experience. First Watch, train your management!!! Treating customers this way is unacceptable! Basic human kindness can go a long way.
