Very hard to find...it doesn't have the same logo as the other spots in the plaza. You have to take…read morethese stairs upstairs that are indicated from a teeny tiny sign. The cashier wasn't welcoming and seemed annoyed. The pastries were stale. The decor seemed tacky as well. We tried the chocolate chip cookie and the red velvet one, which were good sizes but somewhat dry on the outside.

Trying out a new coffee shop in Reston, Simply Social, and it did not disappoint!…read more The shop is located in a strip mall, so parking is easy and not a problem. You have to go up the stairs to reach the entrance, because it is located on the second floor. The atmosphere inside is bright and welcoming, with plenty of seating whether you want to hang out with friends, read a book, or get some work done. The coffee and pastries were also excellent. I ordered an oat milk latte, and I loved that you can still taste the natural bitterness of the coffee instead of it being completely masked by the oat milk. Perfect companion for the butter croissant I ordered. It also came with a delicious waffle cookie on the side, which was a nice little treat with the coffee. The only thing I wish is that the coffee were served in a mug when dining in, but they mentioned that they plan to offer that eventually. Other than that the service is great! I didn't have to wait for a long time. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can come back and sit outside on their patio while sipping my coffee. Looking forward to making this a regular stop!

This hidden gem shines brighter than my tita when she hits a high score on the karaoke!…read more Solid spot for quick, vibey, Filipino eats. Side note: don't go here thinking you're about to get some traditional Filipino dishes. Come with an open mind and an empty tummy! You'll be pleasantly surprised. The space is spotless, easy on the eyes, and perfectly cozy - minimalist décor with just enough charm to make you want to stay awhile. There's plenty of seating for the whole fam (yes, even all your titos and titas). Only one kind gentleman was running the show during my visit, and let me tell you - he handled everything like a pro. Even with our big order, everything came out quickly and with a smile. Bonus points for the snacks, ready-to-eat treats, and vending machines to hold you over while you wait. But honestly, the food is worth every second. Now let's talk about some of the eats: * Ube waffle: light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet - the powdered sugar and ube syrup complemented the flavor instead of stealing the spotlight. The chicken tenders were well-seasoned and paired well with the waffle. Whole plate was aesthetically pleasing and delish! * Lumpia: absolute fire. My only regret? Not ordering a mountain of them. * Longanisa breakfast sandwich: solid and yummy, but I wouldn't write my lola about it. Egg cooked to perfection though! * Silog breakfast bowl: oh. my. GAWD. Flavor bomb! The garlic fried rice, tender pork, egg, and peppers all danced together like they were meant to be. I'd come back just for that bowl - and the lumpia, of course.

I moved to Reston in 2011 and everyday, I would pass by this cute, quaint, corner cafe on my way to…read morework. I would practice pronouncing "La Madeleine" over and over. Well one winter evening, my daughter and granddaughter wanted to grab a bite to eat. So I told them, please choose someplace close to where I live. My daughter said, how about La Madeleine? Ok, I said. I have been wanting to try it. Well, we go and immediately I'm attracted to the warm atmosphere, the cozy wooden structure and French decor. I approached the service counter to see the ample selection French pastries and sandwiches, soups and salads, a variety drinks to include the BEST coffee ever. The server was extremely polite and explained how ordering worked. We ordered and sat at a table near the well-lit, burning fireplace. This made our meal extra special. The experience was completely enjoyable. From that time on and even till now, I make my weekly stop in to La Madeleine for coffee and one of the scrumptious blueberry muffins. During the warm season I enjoy eating outside while reading and sipping my coffee. Sometimes, I just sit and watch the cars and people walk by with their dogs. Occasionally, a little bird might visit and chirp for a piece of bread. Oh, and if you use the restroom, you will learn a French word or two. Bonjour!

Reliable and consistent for a casual French-style café…read more The coconut cake is moist, simple, and clearly on the sweeter side--good if you want something indulgent. The crème brûlée is smooth and rich, also leaning sweet rather than balanced. Drinks follow the same pattern: creamy, mild, and approachable, with the whipped cream version noticeably more dessert-like. Warm atmosphere, efficient service, and fair pricing. 5/5 within its category--predictable, satisfying, and well executed for what it is.
