DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I posted a review several months ago about Ridgetop CoffeeTop consistently running out of coffee and giving customers a 16-ounce cup when they actually paid for a 20-ounce cup. As a result of that review, I spoke with Christina, who manages the shop. She was genuinely sincere, apologized for the issues, and assured me that things were going to change. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. On Friday, July 10, at approximately 9:30 a.m., I visited the shop again. I was the fifth person in line, looking at my phone, when I heard the first customer being told they had no coffee. He immediately walked out. The next two customers ordered iced tea. The fourth customer, who was directly in front of me, ordered two cups of coffee. I clearly heard the employee tell him there was no coffee available and that he would have to wait 5 to 10 minutes. Although he was obviously frustrated, he agreed to wait and took a seat. When it was my turn, I asked the cashier if I had heard correctly that there was currently no coffee. She confirmed they were about to brew a fresh pot. I pointed out that five customers had already been in line and that this was a coffee shop with no coffee available. After already turning away one customer and asking another to wait, only then were they starting a new pot? The cashier responded with an attitude, saying, "You'll just have to wait 5 to 10 minutes." This is exactly what I discussed with Christina months ago. I simply do not understand how a coffee shop can repeatedly run out of coffee. At a minimum, there should always be another pot brewing or ready so customers are not left waiting 5 to 10 minutes after placing an order. That is poor planning and poor customer service. It is clear that nothing has changed since my conversation with Christina. I asked if either Christina or Dan, the other manager, was available, and I was told there were no managers on duty. At that point, I walked out. I cannot recommend spending your time or money at a coffee shop that repeatedly fails to have coffee available. It would be like going to a grocery store with no groceries. If a business specializes in coffee, customers should reasonably expect coffee to be available. read more

Cute café located in Sterling. They have a small play area for younger children -- nothing huge, but the little ones still enjoy it. That area can get pretty chaotic and packed though, and it was a bit difficult to find seating nearby. They offer a good variety of menu options. I checked out this coffee spot after seeing a recommendation from another Yelp user--and wow, it did not disappoint. They use Amouri coffee beans, which smell amazing. One thing I really appreciated is that they serve drinks in real mugs instead of paper cups--such a nice touch. Their food menu is pretty extensive too. I didn't get to try everything, but the Canadian bacon breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious. The space itself is open and welcoming, with plenty of seating, including cozy sofas. About a 1-1.5: I was excited to try out Ridgetop, as I am always up for trying to coffee places - Their menu is pretty extensive, which includes hot and cold drinks, baked goods, as well as breakfast and lunch options. We ordered a Chai Latte with oat milk and a White Chocolate Mocha with regular milk; both were requested to be extra hot, which it wasn't; the drinks weren't great, as they were weak, and the chai seemed to have used a generic syrup, so it tasted artificial. Note that the wait time to get your drink orders is pretty atrocious, considering there were 4+ baristas working. I believe we waited for about 30+ minutes or so, which we just didn't understand - most patrons seem to order food items when we looked around. The cafe is spacious, with some various types of seating available; decor is that rustic farmhouse look. Staff definitely should tend to the tables, as patrons are messy, and surfaces of the tables, seats, and floors were wet, had crumbs, were sticky, and/or just a hot mess. It was also a little weird, because there were some patrons that were just getting a bit too 'comfortable' by walking around barefoot - it was pretty gross. I'm a huge fan of Ridgetop because of their amazing kids play area! No other coffeeshop or restaurant compares. My little one always has so much fun. Parents can sit at nearby tables to keep an eye or be in the play area (only to-go cups allowed inside). They also stock the bathrooms with everything you'd need for a diaper change - thank you! My family and I were impressed by how good the coffee was here! I've only been a couple of times but the last visit made me realize I should stop by more often - they've got some great breakfast options as well! The space is fairly large and can get quite busy during weekends and mornings but we didn't have to wait as long as we expected for our orders. There's plenty of space to chill and meet up with small groups, which made it a comfortable spot for my husband and I to meet with a friend. There's lots of signs and branding around + the aesthetic is very clean and simple. I asked the barista for recommendations and she was very kind and accommodating to my tastes. She asked pointed questions to make sure I got what I was looking for. All the employees behind the bar seemed pretty nice and chill as well! My sister and I came here just to try drinks, but there was a great cafe vibe + snacks to accommodate to any bakery craving. I tried a small hot latte with 2 pumps of marshmallow and 1 pumps of vanilla and my sister tried a hot chocolate with 1 pump of gingerbread. Mine tasted the right amount of sweet and the notes of marshmallow were evident through the drink. The coffee blend itself was the perfect strength and not too bitter for my taste. My sister's drink tasted like honey and the gingerbread wasn't really prominent in the hot chocolate. Wasn't really worth the price but I had a fun time taking pictures of my latte. I was in the area on Labor Day and was happy to find a coffee shop open on a holiday. Ridgetop offers indoor and outdoor seating. Their indoor space is huge and ceilings are tall which is really cool. I ordered a small hot latte and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The guy at the register came off very "fake polite" and very condescending. The employees who prepared the latte and my sandwich seemed sincerely polite though. The latte was alright, but nothing to write home about. And the sandwich was whatever, especially once I glanced at my receipt and realized I was charged $2 extra for the dry, non-flaky croissant. And I wasn't even told it would be $2 extra for the croissant. It was quite a meh experience for me. Not terrible, but not great either. read more

This is a lovely coffee shop in Sterling! There needs to be more coffee shops like these (speaking from a mom perspective ) there is plenty of spacing inside the coffee shop, and the bonus is that there is a back play area for little kids and toddlers! There is a baby gate and clear glass that separates the kids area, so it doesn't cause too much noise for other customers. There is also seating right next to the kids play area, so parents can enjoy their meal. For those without kids, there is plenty of seating away from the kids area and games to play. In terms of drinks and food, the coffee and food is pretty good. There are a variety of breakfast items like overnight oats, yogurt, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. And of course there are a variety of coffee and tea items. Staffing is great and there is plenty of parking. Pricing is comprobable to northern VA coffee prices. Ok, it's not the best food or drink ... but they have a free indoor play area with outside viewing windows! I went on a rainy Saturday afternoon with my friend and her brood and we had the entire children's area to ourselves! Our kids were able to play around in a contained area to their heart's content while we supervised at a nearby table while drinking mediocre coffee (almost) uninterrupted for a good fifteen minutes or so. Honestly, it's pure luxury! They have sandwiches, breakfast items, and free little cheerio cups for littles. The space is large with lots of room for people to gather, gossip, and catch up. YES to all the things about this place. You tell me there's a kids' area and I AM THERE. The kids' area was clean and gives montessori vibes. This cafe is located and connected to a church. The staff are super friendly and take pride in the food and drinks they offer. The restrooms were clean and the overall space was clean and well-maintained. That said, if you're in a hurry, this might not be the best place. Orders tend to take longer than expected, even when it's not super busy. While it seems that the staff cares about quality (for coffee, at least), the wait times can be frustrating, especially if you're just grabbing a quick coffee to go. While my sandwich came out within a reasonable time, I waited an additional 10 mins for my latte. 25 mins from order placed to ready for 1 latte is excessive and unfortunately, the lack of timeliness would keep me from coming back. Back to the bagel-- the bacon was completely undercooked and floppy. Forego adding bacon for an up charge, as it isn't worth it and appeared inedible. I came here twice on business for meetings with associates. Best coffee spot anywhere for miles, in my opinion. Open and spacious. Lots of light and seating--hightop tables, regular tables, sofa and chair seating--just about anything you prefer. Clean restrooms. Great service with a smile, too. As for the coffee, I loved the cold brew that I ordered with an extra shot of espresso both times I was here. The banana bread was really good, too. Overall, I do enjoy Ridgetop. The staff is always polite, the coffee is hot and fresh, and the food is pretty okay. In regard to seating, it's very first come, first serve. Fine. What gets me is how many times I've gone and the tables or chairs aren't wiped. Many Mom's have their hangout time there and the kids play, which is fine, but they often leave messes behind. That's not so fine. If I meet a friend there, the environment is quiet enough to have a chat, but noisy enough to not be heard by other people. Overall, it's a really wonderful spot. For here, in a mug, with almond milk. You can add your own "regular milk", but almond milk they have to do. Also ordered a blueberry muffin. This is a large coffee shop near Sterling that has a lot going on. There is a lot of space and they have meeting rooms and different areas for hamming out and quick bites. They do offer food as well as snacks and they drink menu has a lot of options. The vibe is nice with soft music, some couches and plenty of seating. We had our usual lattes and I like that they offer both porcelain cups as well as paper. The drink was very good. The flavor was smooth and tasty. The milk was slightly over textured and more cappuccino than latte and was quite foamy. The barista tried to do some latte art but it was very blurred due to the foamy quality of the milk. They offer the dark roast (hello, i ordered the medium roast and not the dark because I want a medium roast...) or to wait for a new pot. They do get pretty busy but it's a pretty spacious coffee shop so you should still be able to find a spot to sit. Love their seasonal drink options, they can get pretty creative. When you walk in your going to be overwhelmed by the size of the shop. This place has a large abundance of seating with electrical outlets and Wi-Fi. It's the perfect place to get some work done. We only tried the Crumb Cake with was really good when dipped in coffee but by itself would be a little dry.
