Breakfast and/or brunch is such a treat on the weekend. Went to the Toastery for first time and had a delightful meal. Good location, easily accessible. Reasonable sized menu, smaller than the chain restaurants. We all had different dishes and were happy. Corn bread was provided to the table as a house standard. Food came out promptly. French toast fantastic! Good smoked sausage. The toastery bowl with eggs, potatoes and sausage covered in sausage gravy was very good. Had there ultimate Bloody Mary, fancy and fun with a shrimp, candied bacon, olives and choice of Tito's vodka to up the drink. Our server was good and friendly. She got tied up at times and another server checked on us and brought more coffee. Good teamwork and thus good service! Hands down, BEST food we had while visiting Ashburn! Before visiting Ashburn/Leesburg, I mapped out a few restaurants to check out. After striking out on the first few, we stopped by Famous Toastery for breakfast. No more strike outs, we hit a home run! The location was pretty full, but we were seated within minutes of our arrival. The staff appeared to be very pleasant and helpful. We ordered and received our meals pretty quickly. I ordered the "create your own" omelette with hash browns and toast. First and foremost, the BEST bread I've had in a longtime. It had a mild honey flavor with seeds on the crust. The omelette was stuffed with my specialized ingredients. And let's not even get on the hash browns! Red potatoes and seasoned perfectly! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his pancakes, as well. Don't be fooled by the pictures. I ordered the French toast combo, and received a literal mess. First off, the eggs taste like hospital eggs. The french toast was a disaster. I DID NOT receive anything even CLOSE to what the restaurant advertises. I received one unsliced piece of "french toast". It was actually just a soggy piece of bread. My wife and I visit almost every weekend. The staff is always friendly and the manager greets us with a smile. My wife is Gluten-Free so the servers take extra precautions and speak to both the manager and the cooks about her allergy. Had a great experience here on Mother's Day. The service was friendly and fast. We got a table right away despite no reservations but it did fill up quick. I really enjoyed the lobster Benedict I had and the potatoes were amazing. My husband said his food was good too. He had the stuffed French toast. I thought $9 was a little steep for a child's pancake and drink but that was my only qualm. Plenty of bathrooms and nice and clean. I also had a Bloody Mary that was pretty good. They also have excellent Flapjacks aka pancakes. I like them better than iHop ones. This time I added one plain flashback as a side. Be sure to ask for maple syrup. I decided to go here on a whim, whilst I was browsing Google Maps for breakfast places near my location. This place was suggested to me; then I remembered I had seen the name before. So I made up my mind then and there, on the drop of a hat and toss of a coin. Famous Toastery (of Ashburn), you and I have to dance - if only just this once. So I set the scene, ambiance, and type of dance music - all without further ado. Well that, and in all honesty I was rather famished at that point. Judging by the time I took photos and also corroborated by the timestamp on the included receipt, I came here around half past 10. So not a mighty old time for breakfast, dare I say brunch; I would say it is within the sweet spot of what one can tolerate. I recognized the area as near One Loudoun - this is my go-to spot to catch movies, and I've been to the Burger 21 right around the corner. I parallel-parked in a reserved spot outside; easy peasy, lemon squeezy. I requested table for one; got seated at a table of two adjoining the wall, which was fine as I understand that vast majority of sit-down places aren't familiar with the concept of one-chair tables. I have no concerns, apart from perhaps minor awkwardness on my part. I received quick and snappy service all throughout, and was pleasantly surprised. I got drinks out of the way first; didn't even hesitate, as I'd read through a cool and insightful review on the way. Fresh-squeezed Orange Juice, thou hast made the list. Check and check, hold the check please. Once that was out the way, I asked for breakfast favorites (the wording I used was "popular") - and boy, was I not disappointed. I've attached photos, but essentially I got the rundown on the Eggs Benedicts first. Classic I think is the go-to choice; and Country said to be fattier and ostensibly less heart-healthy, which scared me a little as I wasn't feeling like anything heavy, for Benedict's sake. Founders Favorites: the first (adding spicy chorizo), the second with a ton more calories, and the circled one which is also a quite popular dish. And that's really about it. I distinctly recall ordering the Classic, but memory might have failed me; that, or the ears upon which my words fell did. I won't cast needless blame, to be honest both words sound similar - they start with the same letter, for Benedict's sake! OK, last breakfast joke, I promise. I only have one in the barrel at any rate; then I'll need to refill my humor gauge after. So it ended up being Country for me, though I didn't realize it until much later. Whilst waiting, I Googled best egg cooking styles. Soft Scrambled and Poached topped the list; oh and what's that, little bird, some bloke called G. Ramsey is a huge fan of the former. I say sign me up, with a cherry on top; actually, hold the cherry, I've first got to check with the waitress if it's possible to go w/ one of each; me and this indecisive nature of mine. Really, I am glad to know this one "checks out"; oh, and do kindly hold the check, alongside the cherry if you please. For the side: choice of potatoes, grits, and fruit. I had no idea on which fruit, but I'm a fan of anything potato; sign me up, please and thanks. I had a couple sips of the OJ while I waited for my one dish. It simply was sublime, and hit the spot. I had thought the review was overly enthusiastic; now after trying it I've changed my mind. Freshly squeezed heaven in a glass, all I gotta say. It took close to an hour by my estimation for the EB to arrive. I really didn't mind, I spent most of the time listening to themed holiday music in the background. My food arrived a while later. I forgot to snap photos, but I *was* rather hungry at that point; I just unrolled fork and knife, and dug right in. The Poached egg - simply mar-VUH-louse. The creamy country sauce on top was pretty good. I liked the yolk out-spilling from the egg. It mixed well, made for interesting flavors. The Soft Scrambled egg was good, but I remember not tasting it as much. The Ham was a tad too salty for me, and overpowering; that should not be so. The potatoes were right on point; nothing spectacular, but they were pretty decent for a breakfast side. Dish, 4.5/5. Drink, 5/5. Service, meh. Also, there's a QR code to scan on the receipt, which I got alongside my dish; so one can pay on the phone, to save some time. I realized I like the idea. Contactless payment, and gives me a reason to bust out Apple Pay. One last remark. Judging from photo timestamps, I left around 2; that would indicate I spent over 3 hours here. Again, not sure how to interpret that, but I'll just chalk it up to my first time here, paired w/ an unusually long wait due to a busy time. I understand not all beggars can be choosers of course, so will let it slide; the breakfast I had was more than good enough to make up for it. As I said, this won't be the last time I swing by. Nickel & Diming Customers - A friend of mine and I went to the Famous Toastery this morning - I have been a customer for over 2 years. While taking off our coats before we could sit, the waitress asked for our drinks, making guest (who was a 1st time guest) feel rushed and not giving her a change to see the menu first. My guest ordered the Blah, Blah Omelet and gave the waitress what she wanted in her omelet. When the bill came, I noticed bottom of the bill had been ripped off (where the Toast QR code is normally for paying by scanning with your phone). I asked the waitress (a different one) about paying with my phone and she told me the restaurant does take payments using that method any more. So I paid and gave a tip. Upon inspecting the receipt outside, I noticed my friend's omelet add-ons were individually charged at $1.50 each. This is NOT indicated on the menu. My son, Portney, and I went here for brunch. The decor was nice and the server was friendly. We each decided to order our food and we did so with great enthusiasm. I selected the western omelette with a side of fruit, sourdough toast, and a milk to drink my son, Portney,decided to go with the breakfast quesadilla subbing out the ham and adding in the savory bacon. Food was fine. I wanted to write a review regarding service - I walked into the establishment with my two young kids and there was no one to greet us, which was fine. After waiting for a few minutes, I locked eyes with one of the waitress thinking she'll greet me and let me know she'll be right with us, nope. We continued to wait until she finally came to seat us. Once we sat down, we were given the menu to look over and I had placed our drinks. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to place our order and I was the one to call someone over since no one checked with us. While we were waiting for our food, my 4yo spills her orange juice and I started cleaning it with the napkins we had on our table - no one came to give me more napkins nor to assist. The same waitress I locked eyes with from earlier walked PAST me instead of offering more napkins to help clean. What really baffled me was that a Caucasian man who sat to the left of me spilled his water and the same waitress IMMEDIATELY went and helped him clean up. What baffles me more is that all the waitresses that were working there were all people of color. I felt as if I was discriminated since majority of the customer there were Caucasian. I LOVE a good breakfast spot - especially on vacation. Hubs & I stopped in on a weekend getaway Sunday morning around 8:30. It was easy enough to find with Google mapping the way. It's a corner eatery with side-street parking. There was ample parking on our morning in, but I imagine when the other places are open, it can be difficult to find a spot out front. They are taking Covid precautions with everyone masked and distanced tables. I noted lots of takeout orders being picked up while we were there as well. We were immediately seated and ordered our coffee while we perused the menu. The coffee was hot and delicious. I also really, really like good coffee! They have savory and sweet options, which fits us well. I like the savory and hubs goes for the sweet. He opted for the pancakes with bacon and I had the Runner's omelet. While we waited, our kind server brought us a plate of cornbread and apple butter (complimentary). The cornbread was really tasty, not too dry. Apple butter could have used a little more spice. It reminded me of applesauce. It wasn't a long wait for our food to arrive. Pancakes were good and fluffy with warm syrup. The bacon portion was awesome! My omelet was just OK, but the fruit was fresh and whole wheat toast was good. I thought brie was a weird choice for cheese in an omelet and I probably should have 86-ed it. I ended up scooping it out. The omelet itself was huge, but the veggies were sparse, and what was there was all on one side of the omelet. It was heavy on the turkey as well so this was a good option for protein-seekers. So went a little out of the way to try Famous Toastery. (Located about 10 minutes from One Loudoun). Online pics of the food looked great! Got to the Ashburn location and were seated immediately - great start! Only it took sooooo long before anyone even checked on us. So long that we were able to go through there entire, extensive menu and "local specials" menu and were ready to order our meals before even getting so much as a water. I ordered their "Famous Hash" and a Latte. My husband ordered the Country Biscuit Benedict. A (not) short while later our food and what was thought to be my latte arrived. The woman quickly looked at me and said "oh, this is not your coffee" dropped off our food and left. We started to eat and the food was surprisingly (in comparison to the service) great. My hash did require a bit extra salt to really make the flavors pop but my husbands dish was completely flavorful and delicious. Eventually the server did come back with my latte and I was able to get my much needed caffeine fix. Overall, the food was great, but the below average service when the place wasn't busy at all, was pretty disappointing.
