In front of customers, he addressed staff in a manner that came across as rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He referenced scheduling demands and appeared dismissive of their hard work during a busy influx of guests. Rather than improving service, his tone created visible tension and added stress to the dining room. We are weekly diners and know many of the staff by name. Watching them be publicly belittled while they continued providing excellent service made all four of us uncomfortable enough to leave earlier than usual. We understand everyone can have an off day, but this did not reflect the standard of professionalism and hospitality we've come to expect from Burtons. Their hardworking staff did not merit their leader's negative conduct that day. We value this restaurant and its team and hope this feedback is taken constructively. It's not our first time in here ( we are coming back for a couple of years now), and I actually was sure that o reviewed it before Today we came back there to celebrate our daughter's birthday ( as she really likes their food ) For the kids menu choice they have 3 garnishes of your choice. So, let's get to the good and not so good points , as for me It's a modern steakhouse with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Service is usually quite fast. There are all the time famous on the menu and the specials which are changing. Not bad cocktails, the wine list includes some pretty good italian wines. Its in a shopping center where there is plenty of parking. Service was average nothing great about it. I removed star due to cleanliness of cups. When sat down my entire tables glasses had dirty spots and lip marks still on them. Brought it up they exchanged our cups. Then they replaced water cup with a "clean glass" but the outside was all wet like they rinsed it off and put water in it. Yeah....definitely not drinking that. So I left it alone and order a cocktail...which too had something stuck to the glass. So that was it for me. Food wise sliverware and plates were clean. The food was really good. Ordered general tso cauliflower app and it was really good and flavorful. It was tender not hard. Then we ordered guacamole. It was decently average. Greetings! We just flew in from Chicago and it was time to find THE place for dinner. With so many places to choose from, we didn't to miss a local treasure and wind up at a place that was a swing and a miss dinner in NOVA. Burton's Grill and Bar was ANYTHING but a disappointment. It is my pleasure to share that it easily joins the ranks of places that I want to write about because it is a place that I think you should know about. The packed dining room and lively scene was easy to spot from the car. Our concerns for a wait were justified when we were told that it would be thirty to forty minutes for a table. Normally, I'd wait, but we needed to eat...Fortunately, there is full menu service at the bar. Sitting at the bar was the move! Suggestion: sit by the end close to the open kitchen and enjoy a great team cooking up a storm. Careful attention is given to food allergies and sensitivities...this focus could be beneficial as needed. Bathrooms are well-appointed and spotless, both qualities I appreciate and a sign of a well-run organization. As we took our seats at the bar, Somer warmly greeted us and smiled ear-to-ear as he walked by heading to the kitchen. Few gestures by waitstaff anywhere made me feel as welcome as I did in that moment. Kudos! Our server, Cougar, set us up for a great meal. After a few questions about choices and his recommendations, we placed our orders. I appreciated his polished guidance and knowledge of the menu. A Zombie Dust on tap and a Cougar-crafted Tito's-based blueberry and hibiscus lemonade got us underway...both well served. The side salad I ordered was the sign of the greatness yet to come...homemade honey mustard dressing carefully tossed into a wonderful salad was on point bite after bite. Crisp, fresh, flavorful...highlighted by bacon, blue cheese, red pepper, and cherry tomatoes. A standout salad like this shows great attention to detail... Entrees were two winners that were exceptional in every way: Short Rib Grilled Cheese and the Crispy Fish Sandwich. The Burton's website isn't wrong when they state their fare is made from scratch. Both choices were not only exceptional in their preparation, all of the details on the plate were of equal caliber: Fries, pickled onion, brioche, and presentation. The Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese was full of fresh flavor served on a perfectly toasted bun, quality meat, and just the right amount of cheese. The au jus on the side perfectly paired. The Crispy Fish Sandwich was light years ahead of any fish sandwich I've had in recent memory. A huge portion of haddock perfectly coated waits to draw you right in on the first bite. Flakey, juicy, tender, and perfectly prepared in every way reminded me just how great a fish sandwich can be when you're closer to the coast. Fish is so easy to get wrong and I was fearful of my choice coming up short. I was elated that my oft-understated dish proved to be an exceptional dinner selection. While Burtons Bar and Grill can take pride in the food they served me tonight, I'd like to end by saving the best for last in my commentary: The Waitstaff. Samer, Cougar, Lindsey, and Jasmine: You each hit it out of the park and made every effort to make my meal wonderful and memorable. An organization can only go as far as the people who bring a restaurant to life. Your heart and commitment to high-quality service came through loud and clear...well done! I visited yesterday, June 23, to meet some friends for happy hour and catch up. We arrived a little before 5:30 PM and sat at the bar. We were greeted promptly, and our first drinks and water arrived within minutes. The bartender was friendly, which added to the positive atmosphere. However, things started to decline after that. One friend had to wait over 15 minutes for his second beer, while another friend experienced a long delay in getting a refill for his iced tea. On a positive note, the food we ordered consisted of snacks, and everything was fresh and flavorful! The fries were nicely seasoned, the guacamole and chips were fresh and well-prepared, and the crab cake slider was a great value at $7. The chicken skewers were also enjoyable! My friends and I decided to try out Burtons for dinner and it was pretty good. We sat outside on the patio. I enjoyed the vibes of the patio, but it was a bit dark at night. I ordered a margarita to drink and I asked our waitress if they had flavored ones. She said they could make me a mango one, and the mango margarita was amazing. We split the bread service, which I would highly recommend. I really loved the herb and garlic butter for the bread. For my entree, I got the chicken piccata. The sauce was really good and they put plenty of capers on the plate, which I appreciate. I will say the chicken was very bland, it didn't taste seasoned at all. The vibe is gone....try eating at the bar other than a happy hour (which I avoid).....there MIGHT be one bartender...they are busy at the service bar and chatting with staff...good luck getting service...when you do it's rushed like they have someplace very important to be...yeah...back at the service bar chatting and making drinks for the other patrons....the food...downhill....the steak that goes into salads is absolutely not edible....cooked to purse leather....if you can't swallow it whole you simply will chew it like a tire. For the money....anywhere is better...how is it Cava can put out a solid meal with edible tasty plentiful steak for $16 and you get service...and this place is 1.5x - 2x and you have to tip and be ignored. Went to Burtons this evening and it was our first time here. The food was fair but did not meet expectations. Ordered a salad and specifically requested no bacon and it was covered in bacon. Additionally the server asked if I wanted it prior to my entree. I also ordered a small bottle of still water. Before I knew someone was bringing a large bottle of sparkling water which I explained and they brought the correct bottle. Lastly, the server asked if I wanted my salad prior which I had said yes but both the lobster roll entree and the salad came out at the same time more of less shoved in front of me. Lastly, I had asked if the lobster roll with aioli was spicy of which I was advised that it was not. Ambiance was nice but as far as the service and good it left allot to be desired. Food was delicious. We were 6 for an Anniversary and Birthday dinner. We had wings and spinach dip appetizers. Then many of us orders the special lobster rolls. They were wonderful. We also shared desserts. The Key Lime Pie, caramel cheesecake, and the special dessert of pineapple upside down cake were both worth having. The waitstaff was very upfront that they are very aware of people's allergies. The restaurant was not very busy so it was quiet, but I think when the restaurant is full it could be somewhat noisy. read more

I gave it a three because the service was kind of weird. The servers would pass plates over the guest to my right when they should have walked around to put the plate directly in front of me. It seems like common serving etiquette but this happened with several of the servers and was just very odd. The food was good but again, the customizations were requested were brought out a couple minutes after food was served and the items were requested a second time. They cleared part of the table and when dessert came, we didn't have utensils but made do with our hands (donuts with a spread). The place is really nice, bathrooms were clean, I loved the scent of the hand soap too. I'll be back. I figure service just had an off day. 3 seems too low but 4 is a little too high for this visit. read more

Another great experience in October 2025. Great food, great service. I had the Cheesesteak Spring Rolls, a new dish of Chicken, wild mushroom, asparagus in sherry cream sauce, Spiced Pear Martini. Big portions! They were happy to accommodate my request for extra sauce. Mr. got bread service and Angus cheeseburger/fries. Took half of all food except burger home. Reheated great! I want to be absolutely clear that this account is not based on assumption or hearsay I was present on February 25, 2026, and witnessed the interaction firsthand, while dining with friends during our usual Wednesday happy hour, we felt the climate in the room shift immediately when a disheveled gentleman began loudly and publicly reprimanding members of the staff. I am unaware of his title or role, but no employee should be addressed in that manner. If assistance was needed, it could have been provided constructively rather than through public chastisement. Conversations stopped, and staff members appeared visibly distressed. What had begun as a pleasant evening quickly became tense and uncomfortable. It was clear to everyone in the dining room that this was neither a private nor professional exchange. We have dined at Burton's Grill & Bar weekly for quite some time and have never encountered anything a like this, which is precisely why it was so incongruous. We ultimately chose to leave not because of the food or the service, but because of how the staff was being treated. No guest should feel compelled to leave after witnessing employees being publicly berated. I do not know who this individual was, but the manner in which he addressed the employees was unacceptable and unprofessional. The staff appeared to be subjected to unnecessary and demeaning verbal reprimands in full view of paying guests. I sincerely hope the restaurant's cameras were operational and captured the interaction. It took significant restraint on my part not to intervene. This is not a matter of interpretation; the impact on the dining room was immediate and undeniable. read more

Service was outstanding and food was presented beautifully and majority tasted great. Several in our group can't wait to come back as well as try a different Burtons location closer to them. My only complaint was that i personally ordered the Chicken Milanese Alfredo and it was completely doused in black pepper. No where on the entree description does it mention black pepper. I should have gotten a picture of my meal but didn't. I was unable to eat most of it and even asked the other members of our party if I was imagining the "heavy hand" with the black pepper and all agreed that was the predominant taste of the dish and it was overkill. The meal was brought home for another family member to eat and they scarfed it down but also said no wonder I couldn't eat it - way too much pepper. So, not sure if we will be returning or not and if we do, I'd definitely try the dish again but specify no pepper. read more

You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here! The food is quality and they have a great selection for everyone. They even have a separate menu for those on a gluten free diet. Last time I went, I had the General Tso bowl, which was delicious. Chicken, rice, quinoa, broccoli, and a few other ingredients with soy sauce. It was a good portion size, and everything was fresh. My family had the grilled chicken sandwich and they all loved it. I had some of the leftover grilled chicken sandwich and it was terrific. The sweet potato fries were also on point. Crispy bit not too oily. The service here was very good. Burton's has a comfortable atmosphere, with a nice decor as well as tvs in the bar area for those that want to keep an eye on the game. Since it is a bar, upon entering it's pretty dimly lit. We came in on a Wednesday evening and we were promptly seated. The server made sure that we were taken care of and made sure to fill our glasses with water. I ordered the General Tso Bowl and the food was well balanced with well cooked rice and quinoa and plenty of vegetables. The broccoli in particular was crunchy but not raw. The location of this restaurant is very upscale and modern - surrounded by quite a few nice restaurants, a residential complex and other services. Nice area to hangout or do restaurant hopping :) Their menu here is quite impressive. The waitress explained that they make everything from scratch. 3.5 stars really. It's a more upscale bar & grill with a small bar and a large outdoor patio. I've been here about a handle of times now and food hasn't disappointed other than the salmon I got. That was dry and needed more seasoning. It also lacked freshness which was a turn off. I stick to salads here - they're quite hefty and the seasoning is always well balanced. The bartender was attentive when we've sat at the bar and the drinks were well made. As for dinner seating - we had a bad experience once. It was for a large party of about 12 people and we had two elderly persons who shouldn't have been seated at a high top. We made sure we were going to be accommodated for a large party but when we arrived, the hostess told us we could only have the high top. What the heck are reservations for then? She was not helpful and pathetically solemn, which set the mood out wrong from the start of dinner. Other than that, it's been generally a mediocre experience, but Sterling doesn't have much to offer so I will be coming back. It's not my first choice, but it's not my last either. It's clean, modern, generally good food with a tad of crap service at times but overall, not something to boot yet. read more
