Celebrated my mom's birthday last night. It was amazing!! We were greeted as soon as we entered. They were very friendly and accommodating. They seated us at a table that was too small, I have a tall son and boyfriend. Without hesitation they moved us to another table. The menu is not 500 pages like some restaurants. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes and Onion Rings... The FGT were so delicious! It came with Goat Cheese and Green Goddess, the best thing I've ever tasted! I will definitely be a frequent flyer for this reason alone. I had the Scallop Risotto which was amazing!!!!! My son ate his entire meal which is rare. My bf didn't know what to choose and ended up getting 2 meals and finishing both. He had the Lamb Chops... After trying a bite, my life was changed. It was so tender and delicious. Melted in your mouth. Our waiter Kevin was top notch. He was very attentive and even made sure to prepare a birthday treat for my mom. Which was a surprise! I asked to speak to a manager, which I like to do so they know when they are doing good, not just getting the complaints. Usually when I ask for a manager the waiter gets an attitude, but Kevin wasn't concerned in the least. The manager came over and looked nervous. I told him it was the best experience we've had in a while when dining out. My only complaint... He takes the time to ask how you're doing, and he'll remember your name after your first visit. The bar has a wonderful selection of drinks, and they're all different and interesting. Most are not just standard classic drinks, but rather ones that feature a spin on such drinks. For example, they don't just serve an old fashioned, because everyone's had one, but they have a coconut old fashioned that is unique and I'd definitely recommend that one. Their food a little pricier than other options around, but it is very good. You can tell the their food is made from scratch, and the quality of ingredients is very apparent, and for that, I do pay their prices. Their coffee and pastries are amazing, sometimes I just go for a little morning coffee and donut break. Try their Jefferson donuts, simply amazing. We had a wonderful experience last night at Founding Farmers at Reston Station. We were greeted warmly when we arrived for our dinner reservation and were seated promptly. Shoutout to Gomez for their amazing service today!! Even on thanksgiving, they were smiling and super kind. Attentive service and quick to get out the separate courses for thanksgiving! Last year was a little slow but it looks like they made some changes. Food was delicious and I loved that we could still order a coffee and a cocktail off the regular menu. I got the turkey, while hubby got the fried chicken as our main courses. I was super full and they kindly got me boxes. I had the refreshing apple cider sorbet & hubby got apple pie. Founding farmers has a good brunch buffet option with a good variety of breakfast and non-breakfast options. Their French toast cubes are stand out with the banana foster! Make sure to set aside space on your plate for some! The spicy fried chicken is nice and crispy, I also recommend the sliced beef, and there is a good spread of "appetizers" including tuna wonton cups and (surprisingly) good guacamole. Came here for a late lunch today. The restaurant is spacious and beautiful, with an industrial-chic aesthetic. Margarita 2019 - though mostly ice, it was tart and refreshing. Coconut Old Fashioned - boozy but offered no complexity. Ahi Tuna bites - flavorful and delicious. Devilish eggs - I don't know who came up with this recipe but they should walk the plank. So all I wanted for Father's Day was a good, loaded, succulent dish of hot bread pudding. The best I've had is in the heart of DC, which I was not making the 100 minute drive for (I really would have but my kids wouldn't enjoy the car ride). All the places around us serve cold bread pudding. And for some reason, almost every restaurant in northern VA serves the same, or similar, white chocolate bread pudding. I wanted something big, buttery, and hot. Luckily, Founding Farmers offered something remotely different than what other restaurants did. Luckily, they have four seats at the bar my family could sit at (instead of waiting 90 mins). I enjoy Founding Farmers and their food is good. But I just wanted bread pudding. And theirs hit the spot. It was a decent portion too. Couldn't have used a scoop of ice cream a la mode? Of course but did I need it? No. Their croissant donuts were well balanced too. What shocked me the most was that my family and I were able to sit at the bar. The kids thought they were treated special and considered this experience as something as if they were eating at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. We won't eat here often (it's a 60 mins drive for us). But if we are in the area, and have the money, this would be a place we'd love to explore some more. But I encourage to call ahead to make reservations. read more

He said the double smash cheeseburger was good and he was right. My husband & I ate here last night and had a wonderful experience with Michael as our waiter. The appetizer we chose was the prosciutto farm bread and was amazing! The dinners we ordered were the ricotta gnocchi pomodoro and chimichurri skirt steak & chicken enchiladas. The portion size of the gnocchi was smaller than expected but yet very satisfying. My husband thought his chimichurri meal was very good and said he would definitely order it again. Michael informed us that the restaurant ice-cream is also homemade. Underwhelmed is the word I would use to describe our meal at Founding Farmers today. We have heard amazing things about it (& will try a sit down meal there to compare), but the buffet was mediocre at best. The food was warm, but nothing was hot, fried chicken wasn't crispy, and that batter to shrimp ratio was wild - where's the shrimp! When you advertise carving stations I assume (on me) that it means people will be stationed there to carve the meat and not have it precut in warming trays. Giving credit where credit is due - the eggs Benedict (which you have to order with your server was hot and while not the best I've had - it was the best item I had). We had a memorable dinner for my friend's 60th birthday celebration. For appetizers, we shared the skillet cornbread and also hummus. The cornbread had pieces of corn and came with honey butter - so yummy! The hummus was a different and flavorful twist with feta cheese, tomatoes and crispy bits (sesame seeds?). We all got the farmer's salad with different proteins added. I ordered mine with a perfectly seasoned and grilled piece of salmon. Our waitress Mayory was so kind and made the occasion extra special by bringing a glazed donut with "Happy 60th Birthday!" written beautifully in chocolate. Because details matter, we loved that she moved all the table clutter out of the way to take our picture to commemorate the day. Mayory's the best! We enjoyed all the food, birthday dessert, and gorgeous holiday decorations. It's been awhile since I've visited Founding Farmers, but I look forward to coming back again soon. read more

Came in to catchup with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years. Walked in and was immediately greeted. We were able to grab a seat prior to HH but even as the evening progressed we were still able to converse across the table without having to raise our voices. The lights were dim which made a nice cozy environment. I ordered the Mini Spicy Tuna Wontons, which were ok, nothing special. The wonton chips were the highlight :~ My friend had the Baby Smash Cheeseburgers, customized to his preference and the Seven Cheese Macaroni, great cheese pull. We were able to converse with limited interruption from the wait staff which we appreciated immensely. Gomez provided excellent service and was always there when we needed.
