    Store front in food court

Found this spot in the food court of K Market (really good international store btw). The food court is clean and has a nice layout. Very aesthetically pleasing. Suny is near the back and offers a WIDE variety of sushi options. I ordered the triple connection roll, Philadelphia roll, and spicy tuna. They were all good, but nothing special. I wouldn't make a special trip, but I f I'm in the area, I would go back and try more of their options; as the menu is expansive and appealing

Everything tasted fresh and delicious and the staff was very nice Got two rolls (because I'm pregnant) and they were both generous portions and delicious

One of my favorite sushi spots in Annandale. They are located in the K market food court. The food court is pretty empty at lunch during weekdays. I like their vast options of sushi, bento box, katsu don etc Lunch ends at 2:30 so if you plan on a late lunch it will be at dinner price.

I'm sorry, but Suny Sushi is just not good. I'm surprised with their high ratings and just how many people are such fans of this place! Located in K Market's food court, their menu is quite extensive, offering various appetizers (gyoza, edamame, yakitori, fried peppers, etc.), tempura, udon, teriyaki, bento boxes, donburis, sashimi, maki, rolls, and temaki. I was craving for maki rolls, so I decided to give Suny another try. I ordered a Spicy Tuna and a Salmon Avocado maki - the Spicy Tuna was minced and there was hardly any 'spiciness' to it; the salmon had a fishy odor/taste, meaning it wasn't fresh; and, the avocado wasn't even ripened, but they still used this in the roll. In addition, the rice was extremely mushy - improperly made. Service was friendly and sweet, but the items that were served was pretty appalling. Not sure how these deemed to be okay to actually send out. No dice, Suny. +not fresh fish +improperly made rice +unripened avocado used +lack of quality control

Our beloved Suny Sushi is no more. I think there is now a new owner, possibly new chefs as well because the sushi is no longer as good. Everything is different down to the ginger. The food quality has dropped and is not as it used to be when the previous owner was here. How unfortunate for us because the OG Suny Sushi was our favorite sushi place because of the quality of their sushi. I'm hugely disappointed.

Great sushi place tucked in a food court in a grocery store!!! I normally get the sushi bento which includes 6 nigiri, 6 sushi pieces, tempura, rice, miso soup, and salad. It comes with alot of food and i normally cant finish it! I love how with this bento box you get an assortment of yummy food! My favorite nigiri piece is definitely the salmon bc its so buttery and fatty. My boyfriend and I also shared the seared salmon appetizer which was delicious as well.

Excellent quality, value, and service. Suny sushi is a small food court stall but it is well worth a visit. The sushi is so fresh and clean, it melts in your mouth. The place itself has friendly staff and shared seating at the food court

I have to admit, when my friends first told me that I *had* to go to K Market for sushi here, I was slightly hesitant to see what it was about, but then we ended up coming, and I was super impressed. We've come so many times since my initial visit but took a bit of a break, so this is my review on my return to Suny. Friends & I got one of the platters. As we waited, the kind restaurant (owner? manager?) came out to give us a serving of tempura while we waited, and tended to us during our meal. We do believe the prices may have gone up a bit in the past few months, but the quality of the food doesn't make you feel bad about it, and it's a lot better than the "mall food court" I was skeptical it might taste like before I first tried it. Realize you're not at a restaurant but you can't go wrong. These workers are hard workers. The lady told me to spread the word the restaurant would be open on Thanksgiving. Didn't get to go, but they're always really kind and treat loyal customers well. If you're on the strip and especially if the Block is too hectic for your liking/mood, definitely give this place a try. It's worth!

Some of the most delicious sushi I've had and it's also from a restaurant in a food court within K-Market. The service here was great as it was crowded. I would suggest not to expect too much on the ambiance as it's a food court within an Asian supermarket.

K Market definitely has some amazing options when it comes to cafeteria food courts and SUNY Sushi is definitely one of them. Initially, I thought that cafeteria sushi would be "sketch", but after hearing multiple people rave about the sushi here, I knew I had to give it a try. My friend and I weren't too hungry so we didn't order a lot. However, in the future, I definitely have my eye on the SUSHI DELUXE (12 pieces of sushi + spicy tuna roll) or share the SUSHI & SASHIMI COMBO (12 pieces of sashimi + 7 pieces of sushi + spicy tuna roll) with another person. Both are reasonably priced! SALMON TRADITIONAL ROLL - 6 I really like how they put a small piece of salmon on top of the sushi. They give you a good amount of salmon for a roll and definitely worth the price in my opinion. The salmon was fresh and fatty. Even though this is the most "basic" sushi option, I'd recommend giving this a try. Next time I'm back, I'm definitely getting it again. YELLOWTAIL TRADITIONAL ROLL - 7 Likewise, I like that they have a small piece of yellowtail on top of the sushi. However, I thought there was way too much scallions wrapped inside the sushi which took a lot of the attention away from the fish itself. It was still enjoyable, but I had to pick out some of the scallions since it was too much for me. Otherwise, this was quite tasty. SALMON SASHIMI (2 PCS.) - 4 The sashimi was pretty small and the salmon wasn't extremely fatty and didn't wow me. While it was a nice treat, I probably wouldn't get this again. GYOZA (6 PCS.) - 6.50 This was perfectly seared and crispy. Tastes great with good amount of pork and vegetables, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's hard to mess up gyoza (right?), so as long as it's good, then that's all there is to it. I'd recommend this if you love gyoza!

I've been here a number of times and finally tried the negitoro hand roll. It's a winner! Hands down the best low-key sushi joint in the area. The fish is consistently fresh and nothing deters you from trying the more intricate or elaborate options.

Okay the fact that I come here for all my sushi cravings every other week and think about SUNY sushi when I am not eating sushi... Each experience gets better and better I swear! I usually get the sushi regular and that is just perfect itself! But I recently tried the seared salmon appetizer and it was so good! I didnt expect them to sear it right at your table! The guacamole compliments the salmon perfect and it melts in your mouth! All that show and taste at a supermarket???? Thats crazy and unbelievable incredible! I also like getting their sushi bento as its such a bang for your buck! I love getting a variety of things to nibble on and the shrimp tempuras are the best I've had in the area! I am super excited to try more of their menu outside of sushi! Super friendly and quick service!

ANNANDALE, VA / JAPANESE SUSHI / 10-07-21 / TAKEOUT DINNER +The nigiri pieces were pretty good. +Decent portions for a $60 sushi and sashimi platter. -The quality of some of the sashimi pieces weren't too great. Trimethylamine was definitely setting in. -The online ordering app charges a processing fee. Overall, they're an okay sushi take-out spot, but they need to up their seafood cold chain management.

We decided on the AYCE menu, which allowed us to order up to 5 rounds, with premium items limited to one order. Our group only made it through 2 rounds. The food came out relatively fast, and the standouts were the chicken hibachi, popcorn shrimp, and premium sushi. The restaurant itself was pretty, trendy, and seemed like a cool place to visit, but the food was nothing too special, especially for the price. I would definitely come back and give it another try for a better experience.

We went and got the AYCE premium menu (which is ridiculous that you have to choose the premium for nigiri and sashimi but whatever), and upon seating they give you a paper menu to write down your order. We got their premium box which is like $25 or $26 off of their à la cart menu and while it's super pretty to look at it was disgusting. The Wagyu was thick, slimy, and chewy and made me want to throw up. The toro had wayyyyy too much wasabi in it and felt like torture to eat. The other two pieces were ok but if I paid à la for it I'd be PISSED. The rolls and nigiri and sashimi were a mixed bag, some were okay, some were slimy, and some were just dry. The cooked food was decent but not very flavorful, my siblings favorite dish of the night was the cooked bulgogi which I found to be chewy and you guessed it, flavorless. Service left much to be desired, there's an hour 30 minute time limit on AYCE and you get four rounds total. They take your paper in the back to put in your order and don't bring it back out until all of your order has come out(which fair), but it takes about 30ish minutes per round and having to flag someone down to take your paper back is a pain. I think if they had tablets or maybe a call button that would be better? Unsure. Regardless the food quality needs a major upgrade to make it worth the price.

Akeno is a local Asian favorite that we frequent when we are on the hunt for some good sushi and ramen. We have been here quite a few times and also have had a great experience with the food and the service. One of the best dishes to me is the Miso Ramen. If you love miso soup you will love this with the pork and corn, so good! My wife usually always goes for the seaweed or cucumber salad. I'm sure it's good based on her frequency ordering but that's not my thing so I can't rate it. The sushi is also well done. Would I say it's the best I've had in the area no but when combined with other dishes and the overall price point, presentation, and amount of food it's worth it for sure. As you can see in the photos the inside is really nice and well done with lighting. It's more of a narrow shotgun style and when busy you will be making friends with strangers but the vibes are always good. Certainly give it a try it may become one of your favorite spots.

Takumi is Ted Baker: genuinely refined, quietly stylish, and doesn't require a second mortgage to appreciate. The fish is flown in fresh daily. There is no cream cheese within a 50-foot radius of this kitchen. No yum yum sauce. No roll named after a questionable life decision. Just pristine fish doing pristine fish things. The menu is tight -- bento boxes, focused apps, nothing that needs a paragraph of explanation. The fried oysters and squid tentacles are mandatory. Non-negotiable. Do not test me on this. Then the subtle flex begins: yuzu, truffle, shiso placed with quiet confidence, mango puree that sounds wrong and tastes right, an Old Bay finish that would make Maryland weep with pride, and a Kalamata olive that has absolutely zero business being this good on a sushi menu -- and yet.
