Sushi On is a AYCE buffet style restaurant inside of Fair Oaks Mall. This is a good option for a casual dining when you are craving a sushi fix. Quality is not all there but it does the job when you want sushi. Ny nephew and I came during lunch and the place was already bustling at 11:30am when they first opened. We were seated promptly and went to the sushi bar to get our sushi selections. The were a good amount of different sushi selections-- ranging from the standard rolls to nigiri. On the other side of the buffet area; there is a soup bar (premade soups, a pick your own ingredients soup bar (udon and hot pot soup, hot food bar and a dessert bar. Service was fast and timely. Sushi was alright and does the job... the best part is the price. Lunch is $27.95 ans $13.98 for kids. What a bang for your buck! I will try to come back for the dinner options!

Maybe I'm just tired of this place because my grandparents go here every weekend to eat, but Sushi On does have a lot of great options. The right side of the buffet is mostly carb-filled items, and if you're a true buffet eater, you know you can't really get your value through a lot of the items served here. I will say that there are a lot of decent sushi options along with seafood items. There's seaweed salad, crab legs, and sometimes crawfish. There's also a noodle soup section where you can sometimes make ramen or pho. There's also a coffee/ espresso machine that is next to the ice cream machine, which I tend to make a mock affogato with, and there's a crepe station in the evenings for dinners. The staff work really quickly and efficiently here, and it's always crowded on the weekends, even before opening. You have to get there right when it opens or there will be about a 45 minute wait to get in. Again, it's fairly crowded during peak hours, so definitely try to get here early.

This is the best AYCE sushi buffet in the dmv area. There is a very long wait and they don't take reservations so I highly suggest you come early. I came for lunch, and although it was nearly an hour wait it was WORTH IT!! The sushi variety was incredible!! There was so much to choose from! It was fresh and so delicious! Don't skip out on the sashimi salad! There's also an udon/shabu shabu bar, the typical cooked noodles dishes, seafood like seasoned crawfish, and galbi! It was so tender and charred to perfection. There was a huge line for the galbi and for pretty much everything! The staff were attentive and quick to refill popular items like galbi, sushi and crawfish. They also had really good calamari! I was surprised by it! Everything was so delicious wow! Also there is a coffee bar! Pro tip- put ice cream with coffee for an affogato! SO YUM! The ambience was good, lots of space, so many tables! I am surprised it is so popular!!

    So many sushi options!

THE BEST BUFFET EVER!!! I love buffets with a burning passion and this one is the best. I feel like I am entering HEAVEN every time I'm here. And I always leave with at least a 4-month food baby. I mostly go for the sushi (I love the volcano roll and the salmon sashimi) but the hot bar is also excellent. And I love the little jiggly desserts too. I would recommend the lunch over dinner buffet because the price is signficantly less, but either is a good deal. Not the best quality sushi I've ever had, but for the price and the fact that it's a buffet you cannot beat it. ily Sushi On!!!

This is still a spot that you pay for what you get. It's an all you can eat buffet for around $36 per person. The sushi isn't gonna blow you away but it's still good. I really love the crepes here for dessert. Me and the guys love to come here either before a movie or after golf. It's a good place for large groups but be warned that you may have to wait for a table at times.

Came here with a group of six on a Friday night and was seated quickly. Pretty interior, nicely renovated and sleek! Good array in sushi that is good quality, think their other seafood is a bit lackluster but still delicious nonetheless. Definitely would recommend this restaurant if you're trying to focus on having an AYCE sushi experience. There are other dishes available but tbh the sushi is where you'll be getting a bang for your buck. Other than sushi and some salads, there was also two soups available in large pots, noodle soup section, crepe station, desserts, korean hot foods, dumplings, and a few other hot dishes as well. I think I had more expectations for the seafood based on pictures I saw on Yelp but there was just oysters and crab legs which were both in the cold section. There were also cooked oysters and mussels in the hot section which were pretty good! The service was good, lots of waiters available which makes it easy to wave someone over for chopsticks or more water. Also cleared our empty plates pretty quick. I'm very content with my AYCE experience here and hope to come again to satisfy my sushi cravings:)

The first time I came here I was really wowed and couldn't wait to come back. However, when we came again on a Friday night, it was just OK. They don't have tons of food, which is OK if they had it really good like that first time at something, just a little flat and not as fresh. It's very popular and certain times there may be more than an hour wait. They have a mix of Korean and Japanese and Chinese dishes. There were crab legs at crispy crab, crawfish. Their sushi. They also have beef short rib, pork belly, and a batter chicken dish. There's also some vegetable tempura. I would probably go again, but hope that the quality stays at a higher level. They also have a coffee machine and a small desserts and fruit section. The location is convenient in Fairoaks mall. The dining area is clean. The bathroom is OK.

Ask the Community - Sushi On

Does anyone know if they open for lunch in weekday? And what the time is?

11:30 AM until 2:30 PM, everyday.

Are they open for dine in?

Starting 11/20/2020, they are open everyday for dine in.

What's the difference between lunch and dinner buffet (except price)? Is it worth it to go to dinner buffet?

Dinner serves lobster tail. It's a mix food of sushi and korean style food. The dinner has better verities. But all sushi is the same lunch or dinner. It's the Korean food stuff that changes.

The food at Sakaki is full of flavor and the prices are reasonable for the amount. I think, after being twice, that the AYCE is not as worth it for me personally because I'm not a big eater, but it's totally worth it if you want a lot of variety and you have a good appetite. I really liked the rolls in particular. The service was excellent- it was a nice balance of coming over once in a while to ask how we were doing without coming over too much. Also, there is a time limit to the AYCE (I think it was 90 min). This'll definitely be a place I go to regularly in the future!

I'd recommend getting the chili oil to complete the taste if you are ok with a little spicy. The marinated beef was cooked to perfection in the Sukiyaki. I also tried their seaweed salad which tasted fresh and had the right amount of seasoning. And their Takoyaki was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of octopus inside. Restaurant inside is bit on the small side but they do have bar counter-style seating too. Tables have been on the cleaner side compared to other restaurants of this price range. If you come to Kajiken expecting a traditional steaming bowl of ramen, recalibrate. This is abura…read moresoba country -- and they do it exceptionally well. For the uninitiated, abura soba is a brothless ramen where the magic happens at the bottom of the bowl. A savory aromatic oil and tare base sit beneath springy, chewy noodles, topped with a silky poached egg and classic ramen accoutrements. The key is to mix thoroughly -- really commit -- until the egg emulsifies with the oil and sauce, coating every strand in glossy, umami-packed richness. The texture is the standout. The noodles have a satisfying chew that holds up against the weight of the oil without becoming heavy. It's indulgent but not cloying. The customization element elevates the experience: a drizzle of chili oil adds warmth and depth, while a splash of vinegar cuts through the richness with bright acidity. Dial it in to your preference and the bowl transforms in real time. If you're a fan of Chinese scallion oil noodles or Korean jajangmyeon, you'll recognize the comfort-food DNA here -- but abura soba feels more refined and layered. The flavor is concentrated, savory, and deeply satisfying without relying on broth. This is the kind of spot that knows exactly what it is and executes with confidence. A refreshing change from the ramen norm and absolutely worth the visit. Bonus points for the casual kid friendly atmosphere and also offering traditional soup ramen and donburi for less adventurous dining companions.

Service was good, straigh forward, skip all the pleasantries. No Bars here but there is a connected space where you can get matcha drinks and boba but its matcha. Everything was matcha. If you're into that stuff, then that's a matcha for you. Ramens were okay. Broth was blowing my mind in flavor. I would say the depth was not too deep but this will work for a cold night. Karaage was okay. Takoyaki lacked impact in flavor also, missing the oomf! Seaweed salad was good but I'm not gonna rave about seaweed salad. We wrapped things up with the tiramisu cake. Oh boy, that was a surprise. It fell flat. The layers were overcooked and had a tough bite. I expect tiramisu to have a tender bite to it. We didn't finish that slice of cake.
