Great experienc. The food is amazing. Greg was our server--great customer service. I highly recommend to anyone who craves sushi!

We have been wanting to go here for a while. A very clean and nice establishment. Jai waited on my boyfriend and me for lunch. Wonderful personality and great customer service. We ordered the Golden Dragon roll and some nigiri. Items came out promptly. I've read some of the reviews beforehand and can appreciate now experiencing all you can eat sushi for the first time. For $23.96 each person for lunch, it was worth it. Are the ingredients high quality, no, but was it cheap grocery store sushi no. It's average. Based off of the price and the service, it's worth it. Note: sashimi is only included for dinner. read more

Food (3/5): I brought a non-sushi person to this place and for the $36/adult dinner, we definitely didn't get our money's worth. However, I did bring my 3 nieces/nephews and total they ate 50 pieces of nigiri and 7 rolls! So, I got my money's worth from them. For the price, we were able to get access to the buffet, as well. However, the crab legs, which were nice looking, were dry and crusty - I can tell they have been sitting there a while. If you come for the crab, bring your own crackers, as they were really hard to open. My nephew cut his finger open on one of the shells. Boooo Some of the table's favorites were the volcano roll and the salmon nigiri. There were no pictures of the "tacos" so when they came out, I was surprised to see that they were in hard shell corn shells. Not the best. They were out of Ramen, though it was still on the menu. Service (5/5): Our waiter was the highlight of the visit - he was attentive and kind. Ambiance (3/5): It was more upscale than other AYCE sushi restaurants in the area, but the seating still reminded me of a cafeteria. We were seated next to a very loud table and the sound definitely echos. read more

Big spot with plenty of seating. I'd say the food was just okay; don't expect anything jaw dropping. For the items I ordered from the menu, I thought the sushi was alright, and my nigiri came out rather slow. The fried calamari was also average and not that fried. Was surprised the spicy salmon taco came out in an actual taco shell, but should have skipped. Wasn't really wowed by these items but at least it was AYCE. However, I did enjoy the hot bar items, particularly the fried cheese roll, the gyoza, the chicken, and the shrimp! I also liked the ube rolls a lot for dessert; simple, not too sweet, and good amount of ube flavour! The ice cream's consistency was rather odd to me though, and not the tastiest. Overall, it's a decent deal for all the food you want to eat. Service was decent too. read more

Sushi Oishii AYCE - Salmon egg - Japanese Near Me - Herndon, Virginia

We came here the day before 4th of July weekend, so it was pretty empty when we came and left.... Which was perfectly fine for us! Our server, Mandy, did an exceptional job... From taking our orders to bringing our food. She even customized some of our rolls without any issues. The food itself was okay. We don't eat raw sushi or anything with yellowtail, tuna, salmon, etc. So we didn't have as many choices. The price itself was great compared to msoe AYCE sushi spots (23.95 which is not yet updated on their menus or website or with the employees). They have a small buffet section, which includes fruits and items that are already on the menu. The soup dumplings was so good and was the hot item (going fast) in the buffet. Would I return? Not sure because for the limited options read more

Walked in during lunch time and it was really busy. The servers were kind and helpful, despite all of the busyness of the rush. The restaurant was pretty clean and not littered with random decor. I was a little confused about the hot food bar because I thought there would be crab legs, but maybe that's just dinner. Also, the food bar was missing items here and there and was refilled slowly, but there was a lack of clean plates at one point. I think the appetizers and the sushi rolls were pretty good, but not top quality. The nigiri was okay, because the quality of the fish was okay, but on top of that there was just so much rice. The steak hibachi really overcooked the steak and just had it covered in sauce. They said they charge for unfinished food, but they didn't. Tried our best to eat almost everything to not feel too bad. Not sure if I'll go back, even for the dinner menu where the sashimi is available. read more

I have been to their Vienna, location and compared to that dislocation definitely feels upscale and more spacious! The all-you-can-eat deal is the same $33 for sushi, sashimi, Nigiri, and hibachi items like fried rice, noodles, etc. honestly, the fish was so fresh. We kept ordering Nigiri and sashimi multiple times. The pieces were thick and very clean and delicious. There is also a new buffet with various dumplings, crab legs and other fried items. They also added a cocktail menu with $10 martinis and sake options.. Overall, for the price, this is an amazing deal and you will definitely leave very happy and full! read more

This location is new and much larger than the Vienna location. Ample parking. They also have a small buffet in addition to the AYCE sushi, apps, hibachi and noodle dishes. Buffet items include : crab legs, crawfish, salt and pepper shrimp, soup dumplings, shumai, edamame, seaweed salad, miso soup, etc. You can scan a QR code to order through your phone or order through a server. Service was fast, even on Mother's Day! Everything was fresh, tasty and our family enjoyed their dinner! read more

Was excited to eat lunch here after seeing it on social media. Unfortunately my experience was just ok. The service was pretty good when we went unlike what some have said but the food is okay. Some of the fish we ordered had a strong fishy aftertaste instead of a clean, mild flavor. The salmon and eel were the only ones I really enjoyed. Also felt like some of the nigiri had more rice than fish. If you order nigiri, they'll tell you it takes longer to make especially if a lot of people are there, ours took like 30 mins to be prepared so we just ordered some other sushi rolls while waiting. The sides bar was ok too, I thought they would have more variety but they had takoyaki and a few other fried options like tempura. I also tried the hibachi but the meat was really chewy. read more

I thought the sushi quality here was pretty good; however, my wife was a little more suspect. Food came out painfully slow at first. How hard could slicing raw fish and plating it be especially on a Tuesday early evening for dinner. We got there just as they opened for dinner but didn't get our food until maybe 20 minutes later. There weren't very many people either. The menu says there's a 90-min limit for the AYCE, but they didn't seem to raise that as an issue. Birthday person gets a 50% discount, but it's only honored on the actual birthdate. I thought this place was good, but the amount of time it took to get the subsequent orders kinda spoiled the atmosphere. I think I like a buffet format better. The fried oreos were quite interesting. The ice cream cups were not good though. It clearly had melted and refrozen as was evident by the speraration line you could see through the plastic cup. Obviously a fluke, but do you serve refrozen ice cream or chalk it up as a loss? I loved that this place was very spacious. I look forward to coming back and trying it out again. read more

I went with family for lunch. It was a lovely experience! I am so glad we tried it! The sushi was made fresh. The taste was decent. I ordered edamame. That came out hot and salted. Lovely! In most AYCE sushi restaurants, the hot foods typically take a backseat. Not at this location. Their rangoons, fried calamari, fried rock shrimps, hibachi, pad thai, clams were all excellent. Their sushi is also fresh and high quality. We've been to both branches ( Herndon and Vienna) and this Herndon branch is bigger and parking is so much easier. The only reason I gave them 4 's is the fact that their late night dinner service is subpar. They close at 11pm and we came at 9pm. Ther buffet was empty and service was pretty inconsistent. Maybe it was just the timing of when we came in but their staff was eating dinner and the manager looked like he had been working the whole day. The server helping us checked on us maybe a couple of times at most. We were waiting to order and our table was empty for an extended period of time. read more

This location recently opened and you can definitely tell. The one in McLean is definitely the big brother and has fresher cuts of fish. I noticed the sashimi here came out quickly and tasted a bit off. The nigiri pieces were definitely a lot fresher. There is a wide variety of hot food items from wings to even seafood boil options. The sushi and Asian menu items were served quickly. Prices are reasonable and they had seating for all party sizes. If you're crashing an AYCE sushi Id check out better options in Fairfax or McLean. read more

We wanted to try Sushi Oishii AYCE but wanted to give them time to get settled into their jobs. We were here recently on a Saturday around 4 p.m. There were a few occupied tables as it was still early. The dining room is large, almost cavernous. I can imagine when it's full, it would be noisy. We were greeted and seated promptly. Plus we were given menus showing what rolls and sashimi were available. They do have a few hot entrees plus appetizers and soup. To drink, we both ordered a cup of hot green tea. We started with miso soup and an appetizer of crab rangoon. The miso soup was okay but only lukewarm in temperature. The crab rangoon consisted of 2 small pieces, with each of us having one. It came with a sweet and sour type dipping sauce. It was decent. Then we ordered a 6 piece tuna and avocado roll (that was for me). My husband got some 10 pieces of tuna (maguro) sashimi. On each table is a bottle of low sodium soy sauce, which we appreciated. We each were given a small cup that contained some wasabi and ginger. For seconds, I got a "pink lady roll" which had some tuna, salmon and yellowtail and cucumber in it. My husband got 5 pieces of yellowtail. It costs $32+ per person. Drinks aren't included so there was an extra charge for the tea, plus we added a tip. Our server was attentive and encouraged us to maybe get more than seconds---as he put it "thirds, fourths or fifths". That would have been too much! Keep in mind that if you don't eat everything you order, there is an extra charge for wasted food. We ate everything we ordered. read more

Solid food for a sushi craving. Easy to get a table which was nice. They have a wide selection of any sushi you'd like. AND they have a buffet with additional items such as miso soup, fruit, dumplings, crab legs. It's delicious! Fast quick service with our server Greg! He was great! Pretty great deal for AYCE sushi ($32.95). Not somewhere I'd go regularly unfortunately because of the quality and sticky floors but happy I tried out an AYCE! read more

We came for dinner on a weekday and was poorly disappointed. The food, service, everything was not good. Ever since they opened we had wanted to try and unfortunately will not be coming back. Firstly, the food - it was okay and the only reason this is getting 3 stars. They have unlimited sashimi and it was decently fresh. The rolls were okay. Every thing on the appetizer menu that is fried tastes very similar. There is no seasoning. The service - for a weekday dinner with maybe 25% capacity, the service we received was non-existent. We had to continuously wave over our server who was very hard to find. They never came over proactively and never offered to refill our drinks. A lot of the food we ordered were also put in incorrectly and we received items that we didn't order, which normally is fine, we can just re-order. However, the wait time for the food to come out was horrendous. So we ended up just accepting what we were given since we didn't want to have to re-track down our server, re-order, wait another 20 minutes and maybe get the right food item. For an AYCE that puts a time limit and charges for food waste, they were really giving us the short end of the stick. We came hungry and were not satisfied leaving. read more

We used to visit the Vienna location frequently, but it was often very crowded and parking was difficult to find, which made it inconvenient. This location, however, has plenty of parking and ample indoor seating, making it much more comfortable and convenient. We've visited this location about four times already, and Greg has been our server every time. No matter how many dishes we order or how demanding our table may be, he has always been attentive and professional. We've never had any issues with incorrect orders or mistakes, and he has consistently been friendly and helpful. We truly appreciate his excellent service. read more

I went to Sushi Oishii last week with a group of 8 for dinner during soft opening. Quite frankly, they were not ready for any kind of opening at all. We came in a bit before 8 pm and it was pretty packed. I didn't expect perfect service, but I felt like they didn't even meet the bare minimum. Our first orders didn't come until nearly an hour after we got there -- and even then, it was just a few plates and not all of what we had ordered. The next few orders (1-2 plates each time) came out in waves of 15-20 min. We kept having to ask our server for more water and about the status of the food. She said that their ticketing system was not functioning.... So then why would you not write down the orders physically on a sheet of paper?? We had to repeat our orders several times to get more food. Thus, service was not good. Some of the reviewers noted that there weren't enough wait staff to cover the demand. Around 9:30-10 pm, the restaurant was clearing out. There were a few staff standing around the register, but no one was going around to clear the plates and trash off the tables. Food-wise, it was mediocre. Nothing stood out to me. The tempura was very oily. We only got the bulk of our orders around 10 pm (2 hours after we arrived). The only saving grace was the fried cheesecake, which was tasty (hence the 2 stars). I do hope they improve their operations, but until then, I will not be coming back. read more

Can't miss the half-off deal for the soft opening! The interior is beautiful with a nice ambience and good music. We were notified that service might be slow during the soft opening, so we knew what to expect. We were a large group and ordered a lot of sashimi and rolls. The staff tried their best to accommodate us. The fish was fresh and the rolls were tasty. Given the price, I have nothing to complain about. read more

All you can eat but not buffet style (except for some hot foods during dinner). I'm actually not a big fan of sushi but my wife and son are. My daughter prefers cooked foods. There are a lot of options besides sushi. The menu is huge and you just let the waiter know what items you want and they bring it out to you. And the waiter keeps checking on you to order more food. I think there is a 90 minute time limit but that is PLENTY of time. We never felt rushed either. Also their desserts were delicious too. We regret not ordering some of their udon noodle dishes or fried rice dishes. They looked so good. Maybe next time! read more

Ordered the Dynamite Roll, Hawaiian Roll, and the Shumai app. The dynamite roll was ok, something about it seemed a little off for me though and it was only 6 thin cut pieces. The Hawaiian Roll was 8 decent sized pieces with a very heavy mango flavor, and the filling was about half cream cheese inside, it was good though. The pan fried shumai was good although a little smaller than I remember at Chinese places. Overall, it's a nice looking place for dining in and the prices weren't too bad. My only suggestion would be to add drinks to the to-go orders. read more

When it comes to all you can eat concept restaurants, you should be forgiving of some artistic ideas or highest standards. Keeping that in mind I think it's not bad at all. We were there twice and both times no major flaws, service is something between average and good.Noe to main point: fish. My strategy is not to eat rolls or fried rice, but eat nigiri only. I can say that scallops are fresh, salmon cuts are acceptable, even squid was pleasant. Atmosphere is good, space is new and well renovated, tables are not close to each other,so you have space and can comfortably chat. The other location in Vienna is much smaller and more suffocated. All in all,if your demands are reasonable for AYCE quality, this is a good choice. read more

I love an AYCE sushi, so I had to try this new Sushi Oishii location in Herndon. I'll start my review by saying, I don't have the most refined palate when it comes to sushi. I found all the sushis we got to taste great and they tasted fresh (which they don't always at AYCE places). I really enjoyed the spicy girl roll and the rainbow roll. I went with one friend, and we ate about 7 rolls. I also appreciate that they have things that aren't sushi, like gyoza and miso soup. They also have desserts, but we didn't order any. The service was a little slow, we probably could have eaten a bit more if the service was faster. I will definitely be coming back for sushi, maybe with a few more people next time. read more

The service was good when we went here for a work lunch. The place wasn't packed at all. We were 7 people, and we ate a lot. You get more than your moneys worth on a visit. With that said, the food was alright. The rice in the sushi was smashed, and ruined the presentation. It didn't look appetizing to be honest. You get a lot of food for what you pay, the service was good on that visit. I'd give it a solid 3.5-star if I could based on the food. I would go back no doubt. Update: I would do the 4-star review now. They have gotten much better with their presentation! And the service is still great. I think it even got better in terms of flavor. read more

My first time at this location I went around 11:40 a.m. when it would be slower. There was plenty of staff and not a lot people during this time. I sat down and review the menu. It took a long time for server to come to me. I saw other servers talking and mine was eating. I walked off as I felt I wasn't being served well or check on. I was waiting a bit and scanning the room and no one came. Very disappointed and I will not be coming back. What's the point of going to this place if they can't even serve one person? I went over to Sushi Ohayo after and they waiter treated me right and checked on me often and took my order immediately. They had the same amount as people as well. read more

I'm a big sushi lover and since the place is new we decide to check it out. The place is quite spacious, no busts, they have nice tables and generally, place is looking a bit different from other "all you can eat" For larger groups you need to call ahead and make a reservation. What about the food itself, I would place it somewhere in the middle between Sushi Queen and Sushi King( which is permanently closed, and I really liked their food ) We had sashimi, different rolls and appetizers. Generally, not bad, but almost all the rolls contained "crab" and quite a bit of sauce which steals from the taste. Personally me, I didn't really liked their food quality of sashimi, but I saw other people enjoying it. So, I guess it's really personal preference. read more

Nice sushi! I came here for lunch on a Saturday and they were not too busy. We ordered a lot of sashimi, sushi rolls, and some extras like takoyaki, seaweed salad, kani salad, fried Oreo, and fried cheesecake. The portions of sashimi were generous and fresh. My favorites were probably the eel and sweet shrimp. The only one I wasn't a huge fan of were the roe, since they were really salty. The sushi rolls were decent, too. I don't expect top quality sushi from an all you can eat place, but these were pretty good for AYCE. I think the service at this restaurant could be improved. Sometimes it would be a long time before the waiter came back to take more orders or clear our plates. Hopefully the service will get better over time since this location just opened. read more

Sushi Oushii isn't quite ready for prime time. 4 on fish quality. 1 to 2 for service. Being generous with a 3 star rating Our 2nd time at this chain. First time was at the Vienna location a while back for lunch . We kept saying we would try again at dinner when there were more choices but never did. In general we are looking for unique fish versus quantity. Solid offering all around. What's suffering at the moment is service. Yes in soft opening but not enough staff! Things ordered coming in small spurts. I'd order more but server hasn't been by but going to other tables No alcohol yet which im not taking off in my rating... its all about the ordering and receiving process right now. They want to limit the table to 90 mins... so read the menu and order a lot up front to minimize your wait especially if your a big eater. Then track as items never appeared. Rolls we ordered were fill size it appears... sashimi and nigiri ordered is per piece with sashimi only available at dinner. Weird service as I commented. I ordered squid salad and seaweed salad first while we read the menu. We are half way thru everything I ordered with only half served and still no seaweed salad. Hummmm..... Asked the hostess to send our missing waiter over..... see him taking orders elsewhere but not swinging back around to us. I hear the bell from the kitchen frantically ringing..... see hostess run to gelp serve Ohhhh I forgot to mention they asked if we had a reservation when we arrived. So suggest you make one. Assuming they survive soft opening. Server came by and since what I ordered didnt arrive he is reordering.... his comment was ticket lost???? I'm thinking someone grabbed and served it elsewhere. Next time I'm bringing paper to write down what I ordered and when.... I asked what happens if missing items arrive now times 2? We will have leftover which they threaten charges to keep one from over ordering. He assured me not.... will see. Okay missing items reordered here.... YUM! All items have been tasty but its obvious they dont have enough staff. Hostess running orders. Abd now we sit trying to get a check... I've stacked up my plates to signal we are done.... but alas we sit. Lots of folks waiting.... Really want these folks to be successful. Ifs not like its their first location. Not sure where their issues are.... did waiter really order? Was tickets lost? Why arent we going asked if we want more or dessert? Or with things stacked... the check? Hostess noticed and is running the bill. She is trying to be everywhere trying to help. Noticed on check the missing items were ordered. So why not serve. Not a waiter issue it appears Soft opening so pack your patience. We did get half off which for what we got served as soft opening about right in cost. I would have complained at full price. Not sure how long this special running. Fingers crossed they iron this out! read more
