This is my favorite go to sushi spot in the area. Service is always excellent. They're usually pretty busy so make a reservation ahead if you're planning to eat there for any special events. They do have enough seating but usually it's taken.

As a frequent sushi eater- I can confidently say that this is my number one favorite sushi restaurant in the area. From the vast selection they have on the menu to the always quick and efficient seating/tabling- this is the best. I have been going to Kumo Sushi since before the pandemic, so for at least 4 years now and haven't had a bad experience. I highly recommend the incredible huck roll (middle round dish in photo), that is a crowd favorite! I also recommend trying their cocktail drinks (not pictured) as I've had a few over the years and they're delicious. While the price range isn't cheap, the quality and experience make up for the price in of itself. I tend to come on birthdays and anniversaries to make it feel even more special for the higher price! Overall: I continue to come back and always recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family!

Reston Foodies Facebook page recommended this restaurant so one evening my dining partner headed out to Herndon to check it out. It seems to be in a really nice area - part of an outdoor walking shopping area - and once we found it, discovered there is a lot of parking in a large lot right across their door. It's bright, clean, and spacious inside. Service is fast and friendly. Sadly we weren't that excited about the food. The salad was overdressed and our sushi was meh. We didn't order anything fancy - maybe that's why? Also the teriyaki tofu dish was entirely deep fried - yech. If I knew that I would have tried the hibachi tofu, I hope that's not deep fried as well. Maybe we didn't order the fan favs.

I come here often and always have a great experience! The sushi is fresh and there are tons of creative specialty rolls. We got one with thinly sliced apple in it which was delicious. I brought my 4 year old for the first time and I kid you not he said "why is the waitress so good??"

KUMO is BACK!!!! Today, we celebrated a birthday at Kumo in Herndon and we all had a great experience. The hospitality and service was excellent. The servers were super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Rock Shrimp and Calamari for appetizers(our favorite was definitely the Rock Shrimp!) For our shared entrées we got the Love Boat for 2 , Dragon Roll, Incredible Hulk Roll, and a Dancing Dragon Roll. For a table to 5 people, we could not even finish all the delicious sushi in one sitting. The sushi chefs did a great job with plating and making everything feel so fancy. Price is really reasonable and the quality of fish is superb! The reason I said "Kumo is Back" is because they have been closed during the pandemic and recently just opened up for dining for a few months now. Totally recommend this place for a warm and enjoyable family sushi night! The servers also gave us ice cream on the house! So sweet of them. We're so glad we finally got a chance to come back after a few years! Also my husband said his Filet Mignon Hibachi entree was by far better than other places! Go to Kumo for Sushi! Must try!!

I love love love Kumos sushi! I at least have a sushi night with my girls once a week and Kumo has never disappointed. I typically love getting their dragon roll or spicy California roll. Everything on the menu is delicious and I can't ever get enough of their sushi.

Sushi and Sashimi Combo even got my 8yr old to eat one of the tuna rolls!

This place was very good. Went there on a Monday night around 8pm and very few people in there. This let us get great service. The udon noodles tasted great, just a slightly bit oily, but still very good. The sushi & sashimi was well presented and tasted perfect. The waitress did a great job and super attentive.

    Mochi Ice Cream

A great neighborhood sushi place with an extensive menu with hot and cold offerings. Modern, sleek decor a pleasant ambiance. Wait staff is friendly with Attentive service, water is filled timely. We ordered an assortment of sushi rolls and sashimi. Sashimi was fresh. Chicken Katsu was fried optimally. We had ice-cream tempura and mochi with green tea ice cream. The mochi skin was stale when it should have been soft and chewy, this usually means it's been sitting in the fridge for awhile, hence, the 4 stars.

8 Piece Black Pepper Tuna Roll

I was craving some sushi tonight, and the place I would normally frequent was closed so I decided to try something new! I started with a hot tea (which they kept filled for me) and a bowl of edamame while I perused the menu. I don't typically enjoy fried or cooked rolls, so I tried a couple of their appetizers including the Yellowtail Jalepeño. I wish I took a picture of that one because it was beautiful and delicious! Highly recommend that dish. The yellowtail was thin sliced, tasted fresh, and was complemented by the Jalepeño and sauce in the dish. I then tried the black pepper tuna appetizer. I would also get this one again (remembered to take a photo, finally). Last I had the black pepper tuna roll, which was very good. It had fresh cucumber and dashes of a very light sauce. Of the three, the yellowtail Jalepeño was my favorite dish, but I would order any of these again. The service was wonderful, I was able to take my time through dinner and not feel rushed at all and everything was brought out very quickly.

    Kudos Sushi was outstanding

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. The gumbo you can order on the side is amazing, and the crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp are all fresh and delicious. It's $58.99 per person, which isn't cheap, but definitely worth it. This was number one on the list when I searched best restaurants in Reston and it did not disappoint! Heirloom is tucked away in the distillery and has a cozy speakeasy feel with green velvet booths and an eclectic seafood forward menu. Cocktails : Manhattan - top notch My sweet side piece - fun presentation with table side bubbles! Feels a bit like a fall drink. Warm spice. Very tasty and too easy to drink fast lol Apps: We got the baked shrimp and the beef carpaccio. Both outstanding and so flavorful. Just needed some bread to soak up the sauce in the baked shrimp. The lemon rind in the shrimp was a perfect compliment to the sauce and the carpaccio was perfectly seasoned and the thinnest slices I have ever had which made it delicate and delicious. Entrees: We got the sea bass and the short rib bolognese. Blown away by how good both of these were and so very different. The short rib bolognese had a rich but not heavy flavor with fresh pasta and a delightful velvety spiciness - not heat though. The sea bass was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked with a carrot ginger puree that was sublime with the spinach and fish. We loved both of these entrees. Really wanted dessert but sadly not more room which was better for our stomachs and our wallets. It's not a cheap endeavor here but worth the cost for a fabulous meal out and a very cool vibe.

It's in a newish shopping center, which, for us, had a bonus-- there is a Harris Teeter there. We needed to pick up some items, so we did before having dinner. We were here for an early dinner. Now that it's getting darker so early, we try to avoid driving after dark, when possible. Thus, we were here around 3 p.m. and were glad to see they were serving dinner at that time. To drink, I chose a mocktail called "What a lychee" which consists of "lychee, pineapple juice, club soda". It was garnished with a lychee. I did enjoy this drink. My husband had a non-alcoholic Stella Artois. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated immediately. Having looked at the menu before arriving, we each knew what we wanted. I chose to try the "Blackened Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna" which (supposedly) consists of: "Topped with jumbo lump crab meat, sundried tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, creamy lemon sauce served with rice." My husband chose the "Shrimp platter," which (supposedly) consists of: "crispy beer battered shrimp, coleslaw and chipotle sauce served with hand cut French fries." It took a while for our food to come out. As I was eating, it dawned on me that there was no crab meat or sundried tomatoes. Also, the sauce sure was a creamy lemon sauce. It was more like a miso-flavored sauce. Hard to say if the menu got changed, but no new menus were printed up to fix it. Or was it that the young man who cooked the food wasn't familiar with the entrees? Still, despite the discrepancies, I did like this dish, although it would have been even better if they had prepared it correctly. My husband noticed that there was no Chipotle sauce on his dish. Instead, there were two small containers: one with ketchup and another with tartar sauce. He, too, thought that his shrimp was well prepared, although the breading didn't cling to the shrimp. This experience left us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we appreciated the friendly, attentive service. Yet, on the other hand, we wonder whether it's worth going again, given the possibility of not getting all the ingredients for one's entree. We liked the ambiance, which evoked images of the beach. They have some nice paintings on one wall depicting the seashore, a lighthouse, and beach houses.

Our drinks weren't properly refilled after sitting for some time without our server checking in on us and our food turned cold waiting a lengthy time on condiments. An order for oysters had to be cancelled as they never made it out to our table the entire evening. We requested to speak with the restaurant manager but was only spoken to by a lead server who although kind, did not have the authority to rectify our situation. This spoke volumes as to how the restaurant leadership feels about their patrons.
