Really enjoyed my visit to Yaki Sushi! I got the Rock N Roll, Kabuki Roll and a California Roll, and all of them were tasted fresh and was nicely prepared in a fun spiral layout I also loved the decor here! The space is bright, modern, and really cute, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a nice spot to grab sushi when you're in the Chantilly area! read more

Such a breath of fresh air this place. Walked in expecting a run-of-the-mill sushi spot, but was immediately hit with charming and attractive hanging lights shaped like fish, among other decorations. The sushi was actually pretty affordable and decent in size--so refreshing to see since most places charge $18 & up for specialty roles. If that wasn't the icing on the cake, the service was just above & beyond... waitress constantly checked up on us and even struck a lil convo. Witnessing her water the plants from the distance we could really tell she cared about the restaurant (could be the owner tbh). With that being said, I think this may be my favorite sushi spot in Chantilly! Well deserved!! :) read more

The service and food is amazing at Yaki Sushi! I got the steak hibachi and it was cooked perfectly. Steak was medium rare and the rice was seasoned with love. Great spot! read more

We like Yaki Sushi. We typically come around lunch time. I order tea for our table and we split a Sushi platter between the two of us. When lil comes with us, we add on hibachi for her. Sometimes it's quick and sometimes more people are there and we wait a while to get food or check. It's a nice relaxing environment to be in. I just recently saw they have a variety of Soju on a advertisement. I have not tired any alcoholic drinks from here - but would be interested next time in trying it, if we come for more of a night time meal together. read more

Came here on a Sunday around 7pm without reservations (and we didn't need it). Shared public parking lot with plenty of spaces. The service was good. We got the shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer, sushi and sashimi combo, and the steak and shrimp hibachi. The portions were good- they served miso soup and salad with the entrees. Food was decent-good! The place looked modern and had plenty of seating! read more

I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen ($18) and it was made in about 15 minutes. The broth was very savory and had good spice to it. The egg was just slightly poached a bit too long, but was braised and seasoned fantastic. The pork was also very delicious, great flavor and texture. The staff were very friendly and the vibes inside was quite good. I really enjoyed my lunch here and would come back again! Start with the interior. It was good and welcoming, and bright. It was dinner time, but there were almost no customers in the restaurant. Service, young women with amazing smiles make my dinner so enjoyable. Finally food, The first impression was pretty good, but food wasn't their strong point. I've been visiting the Nova area to find a good Japanese restaurant, but this one is lower than average to be honest. Sushi rice was undercooked and hard, which kills good quality sushi. In my opinion, this is the most crucial aspect for Japanese restaurants. The arrangement was okay, but they knew how to prepare the fish, but the quality was not good. We all experience inflation and shrinkage, but you should choose quality seafood. For about $30 per dish and fish, I'd rather go to a sushi buffet near me that costs $27 per person. I might give it another shot and see how it goes. read more

Yaki sushi is a small but great location for solid sushi. I usually judge sushi places by their chirashi bowl and was pleasantly surprised by the balance of fish, the presentation, and freshness of options. The pickles really gave it an extra flavor too. My husband got the tuna set. The cuts on the tuna were okay -- nothing phenomenal but pretty solid for a neighborhood sushi place. The spicy tuna rolls were pretty average but I could appreciate the little bits of cucumber added to the roll. Overall, good destination with solid service. I'd be back if I'm in the area. read more

Highly recommend the hamachi jalapeño roll if you want something with a bit of a kick in it. Spicy salmon roll is a classic. Rainbow roll is super photogenic. Scallop nigiri was good, but the scallop could have been a bit more fresh. Impressed by both taste and presentation. Affordable sushi prices, great service, cute interior. read more

We stopped in around 5PM for dinner. The restaurant was empty but seemed to be clean. The food was mediocre -- not bad, but nothing memorable especially for the price. We felt it was overpriced for the quality/taste. We ordered chicken karagee, hibachi scallops & steak, and hibachi chicken & steak. We would not recommend ordering scallops here. On the plus side, the service was friendly and quick. Everyone we interacted with was also very kid friendly. read more

I'm not really sure how I haven't left a review for this business in the past! My family carries out from here at least once a week and eats in every once in a while. The quality of the fish, ambience, the overall food, and the service are nothing short of consistent and excellent. I know there are a lot of great sushi restaurants in our area, but I haven't found anything that comes close to Yaki. So good! read more

Ramen was amazing! I also had the hibachi steak and shrimp, which was also delicious.

The food here is amazing! The ambiance is great! The service was great too. I wish there was an option on the sushi menu to allow the diners to create their own concoctions. In their defense I didn't ask if they would accommodate a diner to create a sushi roll on the fly. 2 thumbs up for this place. We will be back for sure!! read more

If you're in the area. I'd check out Yaki Sushi. I've been here twice and the service is always pretty good. Our waters are never empty since they are great about refilling and topping off our beverages. Depending on the day, the wait may be longer for getting your orders out. I was informed that the sushi chefs are spectacular when it comes to attention to detail (ex - they make sure that each piece of fish is cut properly), which may result to waiting in nigiri/sashimi orders; however, the fish seems to be of higher quality. Overall, I recommend Yaki Sushi. read more

Great prices, high quality sushi! I was hesitant to order takeout from here initially because any place that has food other than sushi (like ramen here), I think it will not be as good. But I was wrong to suspect that! The fish is super fresh, and it has the best prices in the Chantilly/Herndon area I can find. I didn't eat inside but the place looked very comfortable, modern, and well decorated. It said 25 minutes for pickup online, but I got there in 15 and it was ready. read more

On a work trip and got to try this spot with friends. It is a beautiful and quaint restaurant, the servers were accommodating (I took forever to order), and the food came out fairly quickly. I ordered the sushi & sashimi combo, toro, and uni. Everything was perfect, until I got to the uni. Maybe I waited too long to eat it, since it was my last piece, but it didn't taste right....almost bad. All in all, I can see why this place is popular and it definitely got busy while we were there. I look forward to another visit. read more

I came here for a weekday lunch and the restaurant was not that packed (but started to fill up later into the stay). I got the salmon poke bowl that came with a side salad. I have come here previous times and have gotten the chicken hibachi. The salmon poke bowl came out to $20+ and the taste was not that good - so not even commenting about the quantity. The sauce tasted off and it was too salty and there was no customization possible similar to other fast casual poke places. The taste was not that great for the price and the hibachi I've tried here was also not that great. I would not come back or recommend. The interior of the restaurant is clean and nice but the food was lacking. read more

The food is always amazing every time I come. I have tried everything, from the hibachi to salmon lover. I usually don't like sushi with too much rice but they have the perfect proportion. Yaki Sushi will be my go to place for sushi and ramen as I live very close by. The spot is cozy, inviting, and would be great for date night. At the start, we had a bottle of Wasuremono sake while waiting for our friend to arrive. The chicken Karaage was flavorful, and most importantly crispy. A+ The Tornado Shrimp was yummy. B+ Sushi Deluxe was fresh with a diverse varieties of fish, squid & etc. A The BEST was the Tonkotsu Ramen, it had a smoky pork broth that was slurp worthy for this ramen lover. A++ The service was what you would expect from a respectable Japanese Izakaya. Thank you for the amazing meal and excellent service. We will be back . . . -foodie read more

Closest sushi place to our hotel... No wait on a Friday night had me wondering just a little... We order an avocado salad and a miso soup. The basic. Nothing to rave about. I ordered a spider roll and a shrimp cocktail roll. Both rolls were cold. I can tell the soft shelled crab was fried a while ago... My husband ordered nigiri sushi. Again, basic, nothing to rave about. Tables and chairs were cheap and not a fancy take your date to. Service was wonderful though. She checked on us often and was very nice. read more

I placed a ridiculously expensive take out order, then timed my arrival to coincide with the pickup time 35 minutes later. When I arrived, the restaurant was just beginning to fill up and the hostess said they were finishing my order. I took a seat on the bench and tried to stay out of the way of other patrons coming in for service. And they continued coming. Multiple parties coming and going, then multiple food orders being picked up over and over. 15 minutes goes by, still no food, still no attention from the staff. The hostess sees me and says "They're making the last roll". Sounds unfortunate but reasonable since my food will clearly be in my hands at any moment, right? 25 minutes in, still no food. Still more parties picking up orders, getting seated, actually eating around me as my wife continuously texts me to ask what's up with dinner. The wait staff and hostess are now actively ignoring me, looking away rather than at me as I wait. Two more take out orders leave and I am still waiting. At the 45 minute mark, I'm about to leave and the hostess stops ignoring me to say they're making my food. Maybe they weren't making my food when I ordered it? Maybe they weren't making my food when I arrived and asked to pick up my order? Maybe they weren't making my food when she said they're were making the last roll? After 55 Minutes of waiting in the restaurant, 35 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready for pickup, someone shoves a platter of sushi in my hands and says "sorry". The baked and fried rolls that are supposed to be fresh and hot are cold. The rolls that are supposed to be cold are room temperature. I'm starving, the wife is furious with me, and the whole night is ruined already. I get the food home and the food is just as disappointing as the experience. Low-quality previously frozen tuna and salmon. Rolls on part with your local supermarket or gas station. Serviceable, sure, but not even mentionable when contrasted against any of the other sushi restaurants in the area. I literally have had mall sushi better than this. When unpacking my order, I see that someone stuffed a box of cold shrimp and vegetable tempura that I didn't order into the bag as a condolence prize for waiting an hour and a half for my food. I'm allergic to shrimp. Never again. Never. read more

I stopped by because i was in the area and hubby wanted sushi for lunch. When i checkef right when it opened today, bar apoears to have better quality so perhaps that they've tweaked out kinks! Sushi chefs seemed professional and older bunch so hope they will be conscientious with quality! Well, I spoke too soon! Shrimp tempura was old and stale, rice was not sushi rice, poor quality ensues at this place. Definitely not coming back. Yet, another letdown! A waste of $60! read more

A new favorite local Japanese sushi restaurant if you're looking for a place to satisfy your Japanese food cravings! *Ambiance: Cute and cozy! I admit, the location is not the best... but the inside is really nice and small! They have a small sushi bar, modern lights and cute decorations. Very warm and inviting. *Food: They touch all the different areas of Japanese cuisine, from sushi, ramen, and hibachi! I highly recommend trying the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, hibachi of your choice, and their sushi! Ramen broth was flavorful with a good spicy kick, and noodles were cooked perfectly. The steak and shrimp combination hibachi wasn't too oily, and the dipping sauces paired so well with them. Sushi had such good taste on it's own! Topped everything off with some J-Pop and mochi ice cream for dessert :) mochi ice cream was a little freezer burnt, but that's okay. *Service: Service was excellent. Our server, who was also the owner, did an excellent job walking through the menu and giving us recommendations on what to try. She even patiently answered the many questions my mom had haha. Definitely recommend, will be back for another visit! read more
