The location of this restaurant has been our go-to for Sushi for many years! Although the name has probably changed, the quality remains very high. The size of the fish pieces are above average. The sauces are all incredible. Our server was very sweet. She figured out it was a birthday and brought my son ice cream.

This location has always been a Japanese sushi restaurant. Must be new owner under a new name (I can't remember what it was previously called) We ordered a few sushi rolls, a chicken Katsu, fried squid for appetizer, and fried bananas with ice cream for dessert. Sushi is fresh, fried items are freshly panko fried, all delicious. Food came out a bit slow as they have only one waitress on the floor. We weren't in a hurry so it's okay. Our waitress is very friendly, has a great smile and prompt in clearing out our dishes and refilling our water. Great neighborhood ambiance, causal but nice atmosphere overlooking the parking lot. I always come to this location for sushi and this new owner does not disappoint!

9/10/23 This was my first time at Sushi Mori and I will definitely be returning. The service was excellent and our server was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! My partner and I ordered gyoza, salmon belly nigiri, and 3 rolls (Salmon lover, Las Vegas, Ruby special roll). I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

After seeing all the good reviews, we decided to give this place a try. It had been years since we went to this shopping center and were surprised as to how many new (to us) places there are here. One thing we did notice was that Sushi Mori was in the same spot where another long defunct Japanese restaurant once was. Upon entering, we noticed that the decor is very spare but the place was clean. That matters more to me than the decor. We were greeted and seated by a young woman who was our server. She was friendly and helpful. Looking over the menu, we noticed that they also have a Korean menu items. I chose the Tuna Lovers dinner while my husband got the Tekka Don. All entrees come with miso soup and a salad. To drink, I had plum wine and my husband had a small Kirin Ichiban. The plum wine was of good quality. The miso soup came out piping hot and had good flavor. The salad was very simple---just some lettuce and a strand or two of shredded carrot. The dressing was what is typically put on salads at Japanese restaurants. When the main courses came out, we both commented on how attractively presented they were. In fact, a woman sitting at a nearby table asked my husband what his dish was. He told her it was Tekka Don and what ingredients it had. The Tekka Don wasn't the usual presentation, meaning it wasn't in a bowl but rather it was on a plate. However, the essence of this dish remained the same. There was sushi rice topped with a bit of dried seaweed. The tuna was very attractively arranged. We took photos so one could see what we mean. Next to the rice, were a few cucumber slices plus a yellow veggie that looked like seaweed salad. I asked my husband what it was but he didn't know. Also, there was a generous dollop of wasabi and some pickled ginger. He really enjoyed this presentation. We both agree that the tuna was fresh and tender. My Tuna Lovers entree consisted of spicy tuna rolls, nigiri rolls and some sashimi. The sashimi was on a bed of daikon along with a minty leaf whose name I forgot. Of course, there was pickled ginger and wasabi. The presentation was very nice. My husband said that his only complaint was that the wasabi was overly spicy. I told him that others might find that to be a good thing. So...if one isn't into extreme spiciness, use the wasabi sparingly. Overall, we were quite impressed and plan to return here again!

Very simple and basic place for sushi. Menu is very simple, nothing unique or impressive. There are a few options for Korean and other dishes (didn't try those). Sushi were good. Staff is very friendly. Ambiance is very plain and simple. Good place for casual dining.

STERLING, VA 04/11/20 TAKE-OUT DINNER +The fish-to-rice ratio of the nigiri sushi pieces was excellent. +The sushi rice was well-prepared and not falling apart when you pick it up, or turn it upside down to dip it in soy sauce. +The salmon belly nigiri and sashimi was awesome. +The sashimi pieces were cut into decent-sized portions. +The pickled mackerel is interesting, with some unique texture and flavor profiles. +The fresh scallop was a nice touch to our custom to-go platter. -The teriyaki chicken dinner left a lot to be desired. There was a few pieces of chicken that my little toddler easily crushed and asked for more. I thought I ordered an adult-sized entree for 24.95? -The tempura vegetables were not cooked all the way through; it was raw. The tempura shrimp was okay. Overall, the batter could definitely use some work. Sorry, my significant other foodie ran a hibachi restaurant and experimented a lot with tempura, so I'm a bit bougie when it comes to the art of tempura. -The beer and sake selection could use some improvement. What we ordered: '1 Sushi and Sashimi Platter (minus all maki rolls) $100 worth '1 Teriyaki Chicken Dinner $24.95 'The host threw in a complimentary deep-fried Philly Salmon Roll. Overall, the restaurant is owned by a nice Korean family and the customer service is great. Go check them out, and order some sushi and sashimi platters (custom tray orders accepted) for your next house party (10 guests or less due to social distancing rules, of course)!

If you're in the Virginia area, I'd definitely recommend this place! The sushi was fresh and the uni was DELICIOUS. I've been in search for some delicious uni but everywhere I've tried, it's always tasted SUPER FISHY. I also love how they have fresh wasabi, I only know one other place that does that!! I've never dined in, however I may have to after this!

The blueberry mojito was DELICIOUS! The appetizers were pretty tasty too. However, I was not overly impressed with my main meal. I ordered a hibachi combo, the filet mignon and chicken. I was honestly disappointed, the flavors were lacking in my opinion. Service was attentive and portions were decent. Sad to say it, but I do think there are better Hibachi restaurants in the area with comparable pricing.

Spicy Chicken Miso Ramen Dinner as I came at 3 PM which was a little after the dinner hours. It was pretty good. Came with bamboo shoots, seaweed, and boiled egg and the spicy chili sauce on the side. I asked for it on side as I wanted to experience the taste w/o spice and then add it myself if needed. Overall, it was pretty tasty. Nothing outstanding, but maybe my taste buds weren't functioning. It was not bad overall, and was filling as I hadn't a proper breakfast even. I would rate it 7/10. Not bad, and the cost for dine-in was a little over $20, which wasn't bad but not cheap either. For the service, I'll give it a pass. Overall, impressed with this Japanese restaurant and hopefully will be back to try something else on the menu, if I find myself in the One Loudoun area again.

The food was ok - the chicken and shrimp were done well, but our medium steak request came out well done and underseasoned; the same was true for the mushrooms and chicken fried rice (usually delicious). The filet, in particular, was pretty tasteless without the dipping sauce and very tough; definitely wasted the more expensive cut of meat with that preparation. In addition, we felt like we were being rushed out as soon as the grill was turned off - pressed for whether we wanted carry out containers while we were still eating. We also realized on the way out that we weren't offered the ice cream at the end of our meal that came with it. Definitely didn't feel welcomed. (And for some unknown reason the restaurant cancelled my reservation while we were en route, as I saw in my email after we ate). Finally, unlike other locations I've been to, I was surprised that they charged extra for mustard sauce (much preferred to the mayo-based yum yum sauce) and to have the fried rice be spicy. Seems a little nickel and dime when you're already paying $50-60 per meal. We drove out of our way to go here and would not do it again. I think we would have had a much better experience at Texas Roadhouse or the like.

I read my last review of this place over 2 years ago and chuckled. Even back then (just coming out of covid) I was complaining about these same things - price increase and shrinkflation. And to think I thought $22 for 2 teriyaki chicken meals was too much! This weekend I paid $19 for ONE, count 'em ONE, chicken teriyaki meal, granted with double meat. What in the world was I complaining about 2+ years ago, amiright?! lol Then why keep coming here, you ask? Well, sometimes you have to cave in when the teriyaki craving hits you. We come out to the mall eatery when we're in the area running errands. The eatery has surprisingly rebounded and appears to be reconstituting its offerings although the mall itself, post-covid, remains a sad and sorry shell of its former self. #sadface Back to Sarku...No complaints at all about the taste, freshness and quality of the teriyaki chicken. A container full of sizzling, piping hot and fresh grilled meat right from watching it get expertly grilled right before your own eyes - CAN'T GET MORE FRESH THAN THAT. The "chef" working the grill honestly is a pro. We remember him when he first started wayyyyy back in the day (well before covid) - "apprenticing" under the prev "chef". This guy is good - he apprenticed well lol. He's fast, efficient and knows how to crank out multiple orders at once. Frankly, he single-handedly keeps this place running like a top. (Give this guy a raise....or part ownership of the business because he's the one keeping this place alive and kicking.) So, NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL WITH SARKU'S FOOD QUALITY. Our go-to order now is to order 1 ENTREE WITH DOUBLE MEAT. It's definitely a better deal and IT'S ENOUGH FOR 2 PEOPLE TO SHARE - especially if you're not ravenous. Check out my pic and vid of our double meat order. You'll see what I mean. ANOTHER TIP: no matter that we no longer frequent this place much anymore (due to how expensive it's become for "fast food"), we still keep a FREQUENT DINER CARD on hand and use it when we go/order - it's worth getting a free entree for every 6 you order - so if you're not doing that (especially if you do go here regularly or order multiple entrees in a single visit), get a card from the cashier and start getting your entrees stamped and earning a free meal. The cards never expire and are not location specific so even better if you frequent different Sarku locations. As I said, we don't go out of our way to go to this Sarku or any other location because of how pricey it is. Sarku has continued to steadily jack up their prices AND have made their containers smaller and smaller and smaller (so they can make you feel like they've generously stuffed your box full of food - clever! ...not). Their other menu items might be better value but I seriously doubt it and I don't think I would trust sushi made at a fast food carryout joint anyway. So, for all these reasons, we only go when we're in the area of the mall AND have a craving for teriyaki chicken.
