Holy Crowded Saturday! After a day in DC, we opted to head home and eat at our favorite AYCE Asian dining venue. We RARELY go out in Saturday nite because everyone in Loudoun goes out. BUT we weee starving and didn't want to eat burgers and fries at the convention center. The place was packed but the service was good. Food arrived quickly and served fresh, nothing cold or old. I love AYCE sushi places . I was under the impression that this place would be like Sushi King at Dulles TC, it is not. The menu is double sided. With apps and different style Sushi pieces and elaborate rolls. My favorite app is the crab wontons. Light and crispy. Wasn't a fan of the soup. Noodles dishes: yakisoba or thin noodles pass. Not worth it. Fried Rice : not tasty. The sushi wrapper wasnt a high quality grade. A little too thick and rubbery. A good quality would have been thin and kinda mewlt in yiur mouth. Kind of hard to explain. The Sushi rice could be improved. Not sure what brand they use but if they use a better quality it will definitely make the Sushi taste better. I love yellowfin tuna , however they use a low quality tuna. Also be mindful of what you order they also have a so called *waste fee" if you leave food on your plate. The have the usual Korean Banchan. However they dont have the usual hot bar like Sushi King or other places like Umi. The service was great. To be honest, we were a bit skeptical in trying this place out, as AYCE sushi places are always a miss - the thought of paying a bargain price and assuming you'll receive fresh maki/sashimi is not realistic! Boy, were we pleasant surprised! We were seated promptly, and they provide you the AYCE menu that's double-sided - the offerings are pretty extensive, as they have soup, salad, various apps, entrees, sushi/sashimi, basic and specialty rolls, kid options, and desserts. My first time at Sushi Queen was last Wednesday night and it wasn't busy at all. There are plenty of comfortable seating and I enjoyed the low lighting and ambiance compared to other AYCE places I've been to. The service was amazing and quick. Mylene took care of us and was friendly and efficient. Everything we had was delicious: miso soup, crab rangoons, hibachi steak/shrimp, beef gyoza dumplings, and several rolls. First time visiting this location and definitely won't be our last! There was plenty of seating even though they were quite busy on a Friday evening. We were seated in a cozy, corner wraparound booth when I told the Host my husband had recently had a knee replacement. Very thoughtful of him to choose that spot for us! Our Server was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu and our food arrived hot and fresh and amazing! The Miso Soup was some of the best around anywhere! The Edamame was steamed to perfection! The Crab Rangoon was delicately wrapped but crispy and with great flavor. Our party ordered several rolls which I couldn't begin to keep up with all the names but have to say my favorite was the Sterling Roll! While all of them were beyond compare, we ordered 4 of those! But we waited for 15 minutes after being seated to be initially served. There might have been miscommunication with notifying waitstaff of our new table. Luckily we were seated within eyesight of the reception desk where someone spotted us looking for service, who then promptly helped us to locate our waitstaff. This place is huge and there wasn't many waitstaff in sight on the floor. Our waitstaff was attentive. She came by every so often to check-in, ask if we're ready for another round of order, and refill water. Food: Definitely quantity vs. quality. Most sushi rolls are average, the craftsmanship (sushi is not rolled tightly and intact), fish is less chill in temperature. This place is always popping, I would recommend coming to sushi queen around when they open, the wait is always out the door the rest of the time. The workers will ask you at some point to leave so they can get more guests seated. The service is great, we always get servers that take our orders quickly. The food also comes out quickly. As someone who doesn't eat a lot of sushi, I think the quality of food here is very good. I like the spicy rolls the most (don't worry, they are usually not that spicy), my personal favorites being the sea angel and orchard roll. They also have other items, not just sushi. They have hibachi, appetizers and desserts. My favorite not sushi item is the black pepper tuna. My friend introduced me to this place and I was very excited to try a spot with AYCE sushi where they prepare the rolls for you. It's about $25 per person which is a pretty good deal if you ask me. I've been here a few times and have brought my son along with me and he loves it. Great place for your kiddos. Sushi King now called Sushi Queen presents a unique experience for its customers. This is an all you can eat establishment where all the food is made to order. I was pleasantly surprised that the sushi was premade and kept in a buffet area. I think that is what makes this restaurant special. The Sushi Queen menu explicitly states that the customer will be charged for any food leftover. This rule is to obviously prevent customers from abusing the "all you can eat" theme and causing food waste from over ordering. I might know someone that brought their own container to this establishment and packed their own leftovers to avoid being charged....not naming any names though :) Favorite sushi recommendation: Orchard roll Staff here are friendly and courteous. My friends and I came here on Monday night during Presidents' Day. We first went to Sushi Ohayo but there was a 1 hr wait. We saw a sign suggesting their sister location (Sushi Queen) in Sterling and headed their way when we called and found out there was no wait. The food was very fresh, and hot. My favorite roll was the white dragon roll, and my favorite appetizer was the broccoli tempura because it was still steaming hot when it came to the table. I also tried their Crazy Monkey roll because it sounded interesting. Personally, it tasted weird at first but it somehow tasted really well altogether with the mayo, fried banana and crabmeat. Love this place - Sushi Queen is a AYCE sushi, hibachi, and starters restaurant. It's located in a shopping complex with a variety of other restaurants but this is the best hands down. It's not for everyone, and the quality is just okay, but for the price, you can't beat it! Definitely be ready to order the minute you see a server, it can take a while before they will return. Drinks take a while if you get anything other than water. The sushi options don't change frequently but they have a solid collection of choices. The pepper tuna is one of our favorite starters, as are the crab ragoons. Highly recommend the specialty roles, as well as the Rainbow Roll. The best value you're going to find when it comes to sushi and all you can eat. The service was very fast and the server kept up while we ordered lots of consecutive rolls. The sushi came out quickly (we went around opening dinner time) and for the most part all of the consecutive orders also came out fast. The fried items came after the sushi which makes sense since they probably batch fry all of the hot orders. The "hibachi" steak was quite chewy but had good flavor. The eel nigiri was especially good, but one piece seemed like it was 99% rice. The specialty rolls are larger and have interesting flavor combinations. It's better to order twice than over order. I would say I'm known to be quite the eater and I kept the number of rolls I ordered under 12. The chocolate mousse was different. It tasted more like mocha whipped cream. It was okay and is a nice small portion so it's easy to eat even if you're already pretty full. The quality of the sushi was pretty good overall. There weren't any bad pieces and nothing really to complain about. I could tell from the cucumber roll I had later that they do season the sushi rice with vinegar. Wasabi and ginger are served separately so you don't need to worry about wasabi hiding in your rolls or nigiri. The dining area is quite large, so I wouldn't expect too long of a wait if there is one. The others at my table seemed to equally enjoy the food and said they would definitely be back. It's a bit farther of a drive for us. If you're within a 20-30 minute drive it's 100% worth a visit. Please also tip generously if you got good service like we did. There were a few tables around us that constantly had servers check in, yet even when I called someone over they said they would be back. I waited at least 5+ minutes without food each time. If you are a smaller table, maybe order more ahead of time. The tuna appetizer was actually surprisingly fresh, but sliced paper thin. The yellowtail was not fresh that day, which is unfortunate because it's one of my favorites. The sushi itself was just okay, but they have most of the basics to offer. Meh, I thought this place was ok, I had high expectations as there are a few similarities between sushi buffets in Fredericksburg and Richmond. The sushi here didn't taste as fresh to me, the color of the salmon didn't have that bright orange look to it, mode light light pink. When we were sat, it took 15 mind for a server to come out way, no drinks, utensils or plates were given. When the sushi came out, it looked good but each roll had too much rice in it and was kinda hard. Hot item food was meh as well. Fried food like spring rolls and crab Rangoon all tasted like it came out of a bag. Fried rice was wetter than God knows what. After Sushi Para shuttered during COVID my fiancé and our best friend became loyal to Hinode in Rockville, which once had thriving weekend lunch and dinner and weekday lunch buffet and since had transformed into a more limited All You Can Eat menu. However, I was curious if there are other options in the area and discovered Sushi Queen in Sterling on Yelp. As some other reviews state, this was originally part of the Sushi King chain that once had a location in Rockville we went with a more limited menu, but has since went independent and likely improved. We first went in March on a busy Saturday afternoon due to many supporting Asian American businesses and holding rallies in the aftermath of the tragic Atlanta area shootings. It was quite full around 4 when we went and when we left around 5:30 there was a long wait. It's also Virginia and was allowed to operate at full capacity back in March (compared to 25% in Montgomery County). However, the setup is nice with high booths and wide aisles that minimize the small chance of COVID or the many other airborne illnesses transmitting between tables. After being out in Chicago several weeks for cancer surgery we decided to celebrate with our best friend at Sushi Queen yesterday on another Saturday afternoon, which was busy but not quite as much as March. Our best friend loves this place so much (with Sushi Para being his former favorite) that he went there by himself to celebrate his second COVID vaccine dose two days after my surgery. Their prices are very reasonable even if you don't eat as much at just 21.99, and if you can eat as much sushi as my fiancé and I you probably save 75-80% of that most sushi restaurants this quality. All the food, sushi and non-sushi selections are wonderful. To be honest, the quality and selection here beats any other All You Can Eat sushi that we've had in the area as well as those we have had in other cities. I would love it if they opened up another location or two across the Potomac closer to us in DC or Maryland. read more

A colleague and I were famished after work and decided to stop in. I'm a sushi snob from California where we have fresh seafood and fish from the pacific coast so imagine my surprise by this AYCE restaurant. She was pleasant and furnished a wine menu upon request. My colleague ordered Chardonnay and I ordered sake. We placed our order and got our appetizers within 10 minutes. After that it was nonstop!
