I really wanted to like Golden China because the service was honestly amazing. The young girl working the front deserves recognition -- she was handling the front counter, waitressing, cleaning, and bringing food out all at once while still giving great customer service and staying attentive to us. She truly was doing the job of multiple people and someone should really be assisting her, especially on weekdays. She was the best part of the experience. When we first walked in, the place was completely empty... honestly that should've been our first sign. Unfortunately, the food was horrific. Honestly one of the worst Chinese food experiences I've had. The bang bang chicken was basically straight mayo, the crispy beef was extremely salty, and the chicken texture was squishy and unpleasant. The crab rangoons were awful -- just cream cheese with no crab flavor at all. The only things we actually enjoyed were the fried rice and shrimp rolls. My review for you is not simple my bad experience but good suggestions for you. Look around you, as who are the successful businesses are! Main thing is honesty, when your goal is to get money from customers and not provide them good service, than forget about that customer who will not only never return to your restaurant like me but word of mouth will spread around very quickly. And if your bad luck, customer is coming from an organization like me, who deals with lots of people, than one customer will create hundreds and Thousands of bad customers. I ordered carry out with five choices, all were very bad. Just two examples, General Tsao chicken had no chicken inside, just batter fried, and ordered triple delight which took away all my delight, one shrimp and vegetables and no scallops and no talapia fish. Your buisness will not progress until you will do it with honesty. Even if you think you are not making enough money, take every single customer as a special opportunity and give that customer the best food. A good example of how instagram reels can be deceiving! Yesterday I went there to try their iftar buffet. The moment I entered into the restaurant, I could realize it's not what it looks like on their instagram page. From the interior to cleanliness, this place was way below my expectations. Foods were cold, the curries smelt stale, no refills of the items, wrong labels for the food items. Only 3-4 dishes were good enough taste-wise. Very less items. Worst buffet I have ever been to. There were almost no options and everything was cold or stale. The server never once came to refill drinks or remove plates while we were eating. Meanwhile, staff were standing in the front playing on their phones. The place itself felt outdated. Kids pricing is listed for ages 3 to 9, with 10 and older charged as adults. My kids ate only a little fried rice and threw the rest away. I ended up having to cook them food when we got home. The server never asked their ages and charged them as adults. That is technically fine since they had just turned 11 and 12, but almost every buffet I have been to at least asks as a courtesy. The restaurant automatically adds a 15 percent service charge for large groups, which might explain why no effort was made. I was not going to write a review, but the server, possibly a manager or owner, told me that the service charge is not a tip and goes to the restaurant. If I wanted to tip the server, I would have to leave extra. This frustrated me. If a buffet is going to include a service charge but call it that, it should go to the staff providing service. Otherwise, call it an accommodation charge or something similar. I found the whole experience disappointing and misleading. read more

I had been hearing about the buffet, and I like Chinese food, so I figured I would give it a shot. I walked in at 2 PM, and I probably should've walked right back out. I was the only person in the restaurant. You can't really have a buffet unless you have a high enough volume to be able to turn over the food every now and then. The buffet opened at 11 AM, and judging from the food, it was the same food they put out three hours before I got there. Almost all of the chicken and beef dishes were dried out. Some of the food was just OK, and some of it was inedible. They had sweet and sour chicken and teriyaki chicken on skewers that were so tough, that it was essentially like eating shoe leather. Many of the dishes had sauces, and some of the sauces were congealed. The pineapple shrimp had some weird aftertaste that I can't describe, but was not very good There were no egg rolls on the buffet. How can a Chinese buffet not have eggrolls? Also no sushi. The pic on their website shows sushi on the buffet. A few dishes were ok, but not a single dish stood out as something I really enjoyed. I pretty much ate because I was hungry and because I paid for it, not because I was really enjoying the food. Service was also lacking. Waiter was a no show. Never cleaned used plates. He came out long enough to give me the bill and tell me that if I needed anything else, he would be in the back. He ran my card at the table, and didn't even give me an option to leave a tip. As bad as it was, I would have left him something. Maybe not the usual 20% but something. Overall, this was a pretty unpleasant experience, and I can't recommend this restaurant, at least not the buffet, at least not at 2 PM on a weekday when there's nobody there read more

Why four stars instead of five: Egg drop soup was a bit off on flavor, but the hot & sour soup was spot on. No spare ribs, but this was the day after Thanksgiving and they probably didn't get a delivery. As with many of the Chinese restaurants in Northern Virginia, they only have spring rolls, no egg rolls. The sizzling beef with scallops was light on both, but the flavor was excellent. I am a fan of Golden China. I really like the food. My favorites are General Tso Chicken, shrimp pad Thai and Peking duck. Today I came for Peking duck and I was not disappointed. My family and I visited Golden China in Leesburg for their weekend lunch buffet after seeing their enticing Instagram ad, but I wish I had heeded the reviews. The atmosphere is cozy, and the owner is friendly, but the limited food choices for $21.99 were truly disappointing! Drinks were extra! The hostess, who seemed preoccupied with her phone, barely checked on us. The place was pretty empty; only 3-4 tables (including ours) were occupied. She gave one water refill and left our used plates on the table to collect. I was surprised to see Kung Pao Chicken on their menu, but it was a letdown! The food was barely warm! The only things I liked were their fried rice, lo mein, and egg drop soup! Those were the only warm dishes! For a better buffet experience, I recommend Aurora Seafood & Grill Buffet, where for just $6 more, you can enjoy a wider selection, including boba drinks, sodas, different ice creams, 4 types of ramen, sushi, and lobsters--just be sure to arrive early if you want lobsters! I'm pretty picky, so I know for sure you'll love their calamari. The only disappointment there is their egg drop soup! Aurora is $18 only on weekdays, but that's without the lobsters! read more

This was my first time at golden china and I was very pleasantly surprised. I went for the Iftar buffet and was met with a wide variety of dishes that were fresh and delicious. There was everything from pakoras, samosas, Chinese, and many desserts. What stood out the most was the price point. It was very affordable at $15 considering the quality and variety of food. It is much more reasonable than the other halal buffets in the area. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and constantly were checking in to make sure everything was ok. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of seating. They also offer janimaz for anyone who needs to pray. Overall, Golden China is a really great place to bring family and friends. read more

My husband and I got take out here every couple of weeks for years when we lived in Leesburg and have never been disappointed. Moved 40 miles away five years ago but stop in for carry out on our way home after trips into town. Our food needs to be reheated when we get home but it always tastes fresh. The owner is always cordial and remember us. He never fails to ask about whichever of us is not there. He even remembers our usual orders. Can't speak to the sushi as we don't eat it. We'll continue to patronize Golden China when we get to Leesburg. It's like visiting an old friend. read more

Spring rolls, spare ribs, shrimp in lobster sauce, basil chicken, and chicken fried rice. That is a wide variety to get a good sampling of their style and flavors. Sadly the shrimp & lobster was bland with mushy shrimp. Spring rolls were lacking in flavor with nothing but cabbage. The one plus side is you can add lots of things to your dish with their online ordering menu so we were able to really jazz up the basil chicken. We moved here from NJ in 2013. My husband and I have frequented this restaurant many times. The front of house gentleman is very friendly and accommodating. I did order tofu sezchuan style about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was bland and was really disappointed. I called and spoke to the gentleman/owner? He was very nice and offered to remake me something else. We talked about the difference between the sezchuan style tofu (unfried) and General Tso's style (fried). Well I ordered the General Tso's tonight and they hit it out of the ballpark. I called back to the restaurant just to let him know. I won't say I have been 100% blown away all the time, but the owner at least in my experience tries to make it right.
