I'm new to the area and I was in the mood for some good food. This place was not to far from my house and prices for lunch specials were affordable. My daughter and I ordered the Sesame chicken and General Tso's chicken lunch specials. They were under $10 and came with rice and a spring roll. The portions were generous, hood flavors and packaged nicely. We got a to-go order and it was still hot when we got home. Looking forward to trying some of the other specials soon. read more

Had the Moo Goo Gei Pan and Shrimp Hunan a couple of times the pat month and was not disappointed. This place uses the freshest ingredients I have ever tasted. Really fresh vegetables. Chicken cooked superb. Spring Rolls were delicious. Reasonably priced. read more

I was very disappointed with this place :( I ordered for the very first time today while I was at work and when it arrived there was no rice in the bag. Very, very disappointing. I was unable to eat my general tso's chicken without the rice. Eating saucy chicken by itself is pretty gross. The only saving grace is that after lots of complaining on my end (which I hate to do), they were willing to refund me 50% of my total order which was a grand total of $22 for just 1 appetizer and 1 entree. So overall, the food is a 6 on a scale of 1-10, a little pricey and may have essential items left out of order :( read more

Have been visiting this place for quite some time and I can safely say they are pretty consistent. The food is super fresh and not too oily and the veggies are crisp and crunchy- not soggy. Also if you ask them to use the brown sauce instead of the garlic sauce, it has a nice bite to it without the excess sugar most chinese takeout places are known for. They are very patient with your special requests and the food is highly customizable even if its not on the menu! The soups are delicious and a must have especially the egg drop and hot and sour soup. Go for it! read more

Only redeeming quality was that the gentleman at the front was relatively friendly. The food was ok. My daughter really enjoyed her General Tso's chicken, and the spring rolls were decent. I asked for spicy Kung Pao chicken, but it was pretty bland, and very very greasy. Unappetizing, to say the least. The lo mein was just noodles. No vegetables, no flavor to speak of. The restaurant itself was dingy and could have used a good wipe down, but the bathroom...oh the bathroom. Filthy is the best descriptor. I have been here a couple of times since moving out to Ashburn and have really enjoyed this small Chinese restaurant, especially when I have been able to utilize the Eat24 app to make ordering super easy. Bother times, the customer service has been pleasant and the cashier was very friendly. This inside is fairly clean. The chef is expeditious with every order ensuring to give good flavor to all the food. My favorite so far has been the curry fried rice with shrimp. I'm retired military and have had Chinese all over the US as well as on foreign soil; my critique is the Food was really good! Ordered the Hunan Chicken and it was prepared as I waited (approx 5 min). I found it full of flavor, the vegetables were crispy and not over cooked, the peanuts were crunchy, the chicken was tender and the sauce was pleasantly hot. It actually enhanced the flavor of the food while not being over bearing. What was really interesting was the number of building contractors dining in and picking up orders. These guys travel all over the region with multiple choices of food. Whenever I see them I know it's not an accident. Highly recommend Hunan Cafe. read more

I ordered food for delivery at work with a few co-workers today 08/05/13. This is one of the worst chinese food I've ever had. Lady on the phone taking the order was rude and impatient. Combination Pad Thai was tasteless, noodles overcooked, meat was not marinated at all. Chicken and broccoli lunch special had no flavor, fried rice was colored rice with no taste, and spring roll had no meat. Pepper steak lunch special had no flavor as well. Thankful to have Chinese options in suburbia. Dishes are tasty, we frequently order crispy beef, mongolian beef, schezuan chicken, shrimp toast and steamed dumplings. Their crab ragoons are sold in a pkg of 6 which was a nice surprise. Their online ordering service needs some work and prices are a tad high compared to offerings in town (chantilly/dulles) running about $35 to feed 2. However, their service is quick, they offer pickup & deliver, and the convenience is worth the extra bucks when time is of the essence. read more

I don't know how this place stays open. Went there for lunch and ordered a pad Thai. The place was empty but it was around 2pm so maybe the lunch crowd was gone. The food was ready very quickly, to my surprise. After the first bite, I was extremely disappointed. The pad Thai was tasteless. No flavor whatsoever. The noodles were soggy. Shrimp was stringy. I could have made this better myself. It seems like whoever that's cooking and running this restaurant has no pride in his/her trade. It's interesting that this place has either great reviews or bad ones. Makes me think that there are different people running this place at different times. We got the bad ones. Ordered apps--fried shrimp, spring rolls, steamed dumplings (potstickers). Very little flavor in any of those. Entrees--mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, veggie lo mein. My first impression after opening was that they looked overcooked, or that they had been cooked yesterday and served today. The sauces looked like paste and the color was really dark. I wish I had taken pictures. The beef had a little bit of flavor, and the lo mein was actually pretty good. Can't really say how the kung pao chicken tasted because it was so spicy I couldn't taste it at all. We ordered online, and on the menu, kung pao chicken has a little chili next to it. I searched all over the website and could not find what their version of the chili means, like how spicy. So in my "special directions" I asked for it to be 2 stars for spiciness. Every Chinese restaurant I have ever gone to has a range, from 1-4/5, so I thought that asking for 2 would be safe. I also order kung pao chicken every time, and it always has the tiny red chilies in it that I always just pick out, no problem. That was impossible because the chilies were diced into tiny little pieces, and the seeds were all over it. I didn't look closely enough at it before taking a couple of bites. Spice overload! I'm glad I left the kpc for last because I couldn't taste anything else after that. Visiting relatives from out of town and after a long day we didn't want to cook. I've called a few times this week, granted it was later at night around 8:30 - 9:30pm. The women told me that I had contacted them too late for delivery even though their menu states that they are open an hour later then when I had called. I called on 8/9 at 9:30, and the women bitched at me for 10 minutes about calling too late, and finally said that it would be their last delivery. I told her I didn't want it at that point, and to stop putting menu's in my door since every time I had called they harassed me about placing a delivery order. read more

That's how you solve a customer issue when you screw up their dinner? There won't be a next time! The chicken might as well have been flavorless rubber. Terrible food.
