Came in for the lunch special. When I asked if the general tso's chicken could be made with white meat, they said no white meat so I ordered the chicken with broccoli and added a wonton soup. The chicken and broccoli was tasty, but the fried rice that came with it was literally just rice. No vegetables or egg in it which is unusual in my opinion. Hidden gem if you are facing the strip mall it is on the left and side tucked away. General TSO's chicken was the best I ever had with sauce that was delicious and chicken was very crispy. Shrimp and broccoli was nice with the vegetables, crunchy and fresh broccoli and tons of shrimp under vegetables. Egg rolls packed with veggies and pork with crispy wonton. I during lunch and ordered a dish during lunch and was about to overpay until I asked about a lunch menu (where I can have soda and an egg roll at a cheaper price). The lady acted like it was an imposition but refunded and gave me the exchange. The egg roll only had beef in it and the beef to broccoli ratio was way off. I was surprisingly happy about a delivery order of Chinese food! What a pleasant surprise! We made 2 requests of Asia Cafe regarding our order: 1) "very, very crispy vegetables. Almost undercooked." & 2) "very little sauce or liquid." We expect that Chinese food in this area will be ho-hum, adequate, with very overcooked veggies. Poor limp, lifeless, used to be veggies sitting in effectively, soup given the overabundance of blasé liquid. What ho! We received Egg Rolls, Won Ton Soup, #203 Chicken w/Snow Peas & #404 Hunan Beef. All the veggies were bright & crisp -- even the Snow Peas! How delightful! There was not an excess of juice w/the entreés -- no extra order of soup! The food was quite tasty. My hubby's only "complaint" was that the Won Ton Soup was quite good there was too little. I'll have to consider a size-up next time @ $9.50. Yeesh -- cha-ching. I even called the restaurant the next day to thank them. They said they try to fulfill requests, but were concerned that less sauce/juice would mean less taste. Not true! Really great takeout Chinese food. Lots of flavor and ready quickly. I've tried the tofu, moo shu chicken, hot and sour soup, lo mein, and orange chicken and so far every single one was delicious. I was slightly early for a meeting nearby with a potential candidate for a position on my team, and I hadn't eaten lunch yet. This plaza is VERY limited on options, even more so on ones that sound appetizing. I wasn't really in the mood for Chinese food, but I downselected and ended up deciding on Asia Cafe. It's not much inside. Sort of dirty, dull and overly hot. But the menu is extensive, and the cashier was very friendly. They had a set of about 20 lunch box meals, all for under $7! I got the combination rice noodles, which were noodles with carrots, bamboo shoots, cabbage, mushrooms, etc. It also came with a sizable amount of steak, chicken and shrimp. Still yet, it came with a HUGE eggroll and a pile of fried rice. I have no idea why they serve a whole plate of fried rice with noodles, but it's just kind of the default side. I ended up taking half the egg roll and all of the rice in a box for later, and I was still stuffed just with the noodles. Get this -- the $7 also includes a can of soda! So that's drink, two meals and very well-done, delicious Asian food for super cheap. This isn't the kind of place I'd go out of my way to try again. It's not an 'experience.' It's not better than any Chinese food I've ever had. But if I'm faced with slim pickin's again sometime, I wouldn't have to think twice -- Asia Cafe is delicious and a real value. read more

For the last couple of years we've been looking for a good place and think we've found it with Asia Café. I'm really surprised by some of the bad ratings on here. They try to force you to give a tip or overcharge you. I ordered from their online menu and when I went to pick it up they said that menu prices have changed and not reflected and charged me an extra $5. This place is NOT a winner. Please read on. In my quest to find decent takeout in the Ashburn area, I have again failed. Ordered General Tsos and Szechuan chicken. Both were meals that came with rice, eggroll, and drinks. The egg rolls were terrible. Typical pre-made egg rolls but they looked as if they should have been served a few days ago. The Szechuan chicken was basically flavorless and the vegetables looked about a week past their prime. The white rice was not fresh. The General Tso's wasn't too bad at all but the fried rice wasn't fresh. The worst part, and some of you might laugh, was that the sodas that were delivered with the meal were past their expiration date. I think that is a huge deal because it proves that they don't monitor their expiration dates. You can already tell by looking at their vegetables. The only reason why this place gets two stars is because the delivery guy was fast and was sporting some sunglasses that were straight out of the 80's. Rock on dude, but your food sucks. Well I don't know what you people are talking about with the bad reviews, but I think Asia Cafe deserves a hell of a lot more credit than that. Since they opened, they have always been our go-to chinese restaurant when ordering takeout. I've never had a bad experience-- the food has always been very fresh and tasty. Also, when you order takeout, the portions are HUGE. You definitely get a lot for what you're paying. I love going in at lunch time and grabbing a lunch special. They have another location in Sterling right off the bridge that crosses over 28. Once, my mother ordered takeout and accidentally called it to the Sterling location. I went in to pick up the order from the Ashburn location and we realized she had called it in to the other one by mistake. They offered to have somebody deliver it to us-- that is great service, considering the distance. It's certainly worth checking out-- and trust me, I know good chinese food. read more

My fiancé and I moved to Ashburn about 4 months ago and have been trying to find out go-to for delivery ever since. After trying here, oh goodness did we definitely find it. I ordered the general tso's chicken and it was crunchy. CRUNCHY. LIKE HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE MADE! And it was oh so tender on the inside too. My fiancé had the sesame chicken and it was made perfectly as well. He claimed the crab ragoon was delicious too, it didn't have an overwhelming amount of cream cheese like most places and the spring rolls were pretty delicious too. I don't live in Ashburn, so I've only had Asia Cafe on a handful of occasions. Two times were fresh carryout and the others were leftovers of my friend's. I was in the area today and my husband wanted some General Tso's, so I picked some up with white rice and an order of fried wontons. Geez, talk about skimping on the wonton filling! It was nothing more than finger smear of pork, for real. Don't get me wrong, I love the fried wonton skin for dipping in soup, but if I'm ordering a wonton, I expect some filling!! The General's was good. I normally don't eat it, that's what my family likes, so I get soups or sides. I actually enjoyed the crisp, fried chicken flavor today. My friend's go-to is always the lo mein, but she requests it with little oil because she says it's too greasy otherwise. Very inconsistent. If you order from here one week, it might be perfect. The next week, too much garlic and cabbage in the lo mein. The next week, lo mein is perfect but the general tso chicken is too hard and chewy. The next week lo mein might be off again, general tso chicken is good, but the crab Rangoon and dumplings are bad. I remember ordering dumplings one week and it was very light with thin, clear dough and different filling. It was different but good. The next time I got dumplings, it was back to the thick tough with lump of meat inside. It's good but what's with the inconsistency?! read more

I placed a door dash order and asked for no egg in the special requests section of the order, they did not pay enough attention to the order and put egg in my fried rice. I called, calm and kindly explaining that I asked for no egg & im allergic. The lady yelled at me over the phone accusing me lying. We recently moved to ashburn & we're trying to find a good Chinese place because panda cafe (a great restaurant, that almost always does orders right, and when they don't they are patient and kind and they fix it) doesn't deliver to ashburn. I decided while I was out to stop past Asia Cafe to meet the people who we always order from via DoorDash. I ordered my food and tipped $4.00. I then came back in to get order and the cashier only put in half of my order so I had to again wait for the other part. When I opened the bag on my first order, there was only one packet of soy sauce. When the other part of the order was ready, I sent my son in to get it because I was already walking on my sprained ankle as it was and didn't want to push it. I asked my son to ask for extra mustard and soy sauce and he came out with one of each. I went back in and asked for extra, she gave me another soy sauce and another hot mustard and I then looked at her and asked for more she then asked how many, I was so pissed off that I said just 2 of each, she gave me one more of each instead. I tipped $4.00 to say thank you in an effort to be nice and I couldn't get extra sauces which was unbelievable! I will never go there again as I realized she was not grateful at all!
