    AYCE Hot Pot
    Jacques I.

Solid hot pot. We came here to celebrate my brother's birthday and had a fantastic time. Hot Pot Legend is a great option for AYCE hot pot in the northern Virginia area. We visited for lunch service on a Saturday, right when it opened, and were able to be seated in a booth immediately. However, the place quickly filled with large groups. Before being seated, you're asked if you plan to get a personal hot pot or plan to share a large hot pot. I had never been to a place where there was an option to do your own or share, which was pretty cool to learn that they have that here. Some of the tables here have personal hot pot stations with a large hot pot station in the center and some tables just have one or the other. Very cool how accommodating this place is. All three of us did the AYCE option, which was about a little more than $35 per person. It's about average price, I think, but compared to hot pot places back home, there aren't as many options here. However, there is still plenty to choose from! There was a variety of different broths, meats, veggies, a handful of different noodles and starches, etc. We tried the pork bone broth and the kimchi, which were both good. I did prefer the pork bone broth though. I love bone broth, so this was very flavorful and you didn't really need the dipping sauces for the meat, which is how hot pot should be. But if you do like dipping sauces, there is a station where you can make your own from the different condiments they offer. This is also where they have some small pastries and orange slices for dessert that you can help yourself to for the AYCE dining option. Of the meats, I really liked the marinated beef. It was very tender and flavorful, so we had to keep ordering a ton of it. Brisket was also a good option, too. Mini dumplings were okay; it was too much dough for the amount of meat in the dumpling. Not too many highlights found here, but I was content with the beef cooked in pork bone broth and having some rice with. Staff was helpful and cleared plates throughout the entire time to make more room at our table. The owner checked in with all the parties and she could not have been more sweet. When she found out it was my brother's birthday, she gave him a panda plushy, the panda being the restaurant mascot and all. Very cool! Fun time and it just makes me wanna have more hot pot now that it's sweater season.

Inside Loudoun One, this AYCE hot pot or you pick individual preset hot pot isn't too special in terms of hot pot food selections. They have the hot pot usuals such as enoki mushrooms, tofu skin, napa cabbage, Chinese spinach, glass noodles, mussels, and all the hot pot essentials without being extra. Extra would be items like crab and higher grade meats. The food was reasonably fresh. The price for AYCE eats is $35 for adults and $17.99 for kids. I think it's a little on the pricier end but this is Loudoun One. Our family, including the kids, ate a vast amount of noodles, sliced plain and marinated meats, variety of vegetables, pumpkin, dumplings, and many hot pot staples. Our bellies were content. We had the Sichuan, pork bone, and tomato broths and the tomato was the most flavorful out of the 3 options. I liked the Sichuan as I am a fan of numbing peppers but as they kept diluting the broth with just plain broth, it became less enjoyable. The sauce bar and other complimentary dishes that came with the experience were kind of disappointing compared to other hot pot places. Also, the seating booths, high chairs, food trays, and tables weren't necessarily squeaky clean. I think what stuck out to me personally at this hot pot places was the service. Our server was attentive and explained everything well. I believe the owner was also walking around and making sure the customers were taken care of. We even had other servers check on us that it felt like every 10 mins there was always someone making sure we were taken care of without being too awkward about it. I would come back if we are ever craving hot pot around Ashburn. But this place isn't that impressive compare to other hot pot places I've been to.

This is my boyfriend's favorite hot pot place, he claims it's way better than the trendy urban hot pot restaurant, and I have to admit it was pretty great! So much food and all of it was delicious! The chef sauce was my favorite!

    Missed this place!

We were huge fans of the Rockville location. Unfortunately, covid woes and county policies got the best of them. They really had the best setup with get your own veggies, fungus, noodles and meat served to table. It was efficient and always very fresh. The VA location is large and has many tables. There is a nice sized bar and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Boba is fairly priced and service is still really good!

Not bad at all... the moment we entered it felt a little empty and quiet and dark, but the place started filling in slowly. The staff is super friendly and got us set up with our Hot Pot really quick. We choose the dual Kimchi and Schezwan soup base. Ordered the unlimited sides. That is very generous and one can order as many as you want. They have a side bar for their sauces. They do have a full bar but we didn't venture into any drinks this time. It sat very well with us yesterday as it was a little cool here in VA. I gave a 3 star as I felt that the unlimited site is great but it is too much of food and it gets wasted. So go ahead and try the single portion. But a definite visit!

Updating review after having visited the restaurant a few times ~ Food: I think it's the price and the quality of the meats is what reflects my score. For how much I'm paying I don't feel satisfied with some of the AYCE selections. Compared to other Chinese hot pot restaurants I've been to, it doesn't quite hit the same. Service + Ambiance: Service and ambiance remains really great! I went with a friend and our server recognized us from previous visits haha.

We ordered some spicy dishes and requested the cook to tune the heat level down a little. I usually handle the hot dishes without any problem but could not in here. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I will definitely come back to try the hot pot next time.

Oh my! It was our first time here and the food was ever SO AMAZING and DELICIOUS!!!! Our server was just simply wonderful and she recommend us the shaved fatty ribeye since she said the fat would boil off and we would be left with the tender meat. Ohhhhhh...was she ever SOOOOOOO RIGHT ON POINT!!!!! We also ordered the shaved pork belly, bean sprouts, spinach, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, ramen noodles, and two raw eggs. We did the duo broth with the pork broth and beef broth...BOTH had AMAZING FLAVOR!!!! We then ordered a second helping of the fatty ribeye since it was SO DELICIOUS the first time and another order of the enoki mushrooms as well! Goodness, we were stuffed by then! Yes, another staff member did swing by to replenish both our pork and beef broth plenty enough to finish off the rest of our order. We were always checked on to ensure we had plenty to eat since we did purchase the all-you-can-eat meal! ;-) Our server came back on a regular basis, but never ever in an intrusive way. She was so graceful and super helpful!! And just when you think you're TOO FULL, you'll be introduced to these very lovely sesame balls!! Oh my, they are ever so warm, light, crunchy, fluffy, and super tasty!!! Yes, we got seconds on them as well!! I mean, WHAT???!!! Yes, we DID!!!! They were THAT DELICIOUS!!!! This is a great spot to fill your tummy with a delicious meal and great service with a peaceful surrounding and beautiful decor. Very clean inside! We will most definitely return!!!!

came for Lunar New Year with my parents and my in laws. we were a large party of 9 & the owners were really friendly the whole entire time. when we first arrived, one of the owners was giving out red envelopes to her employees that was working that day, so that was very sweet. we were seated & the owners came up to us and offered us a bunch of appetizers that were not on the menu. the fried mantous were my favorite!!!! one of my favorite dim sum staples to have during hot pot? yes, please!! my family really enjoyed the hot pot and their selection. we ended up staying for about 2 hours and a half. my son made a slight mess, but the employees were great to work with. I wish it was easier to order though. when they get busy, it's hard to track down the server and sometimes items didn't get delivered even though it was requested. I ended up requesting a few items several times, but that's ok. food was good & the soup wasn't bad. I base all of my hot pot against hai di lao now since it's my favorite hot pot place. this definitely wasn't bad & for the price it was decent. I'd come back again!

I was hesitant to try this place when they first opened, but now I think it might be my favorite place to go for hot pot. I enjoy the broth options here compared to other places. I also think they have more types of meats and veggies than most other hot pot places. It's very clean and the service is good. And definitely worth the price per person.

    All you can eat
    Nameeta M.

A friend took us to Hot Pot for us to try it and we were so impressed! We did the all you can eat option ($35pp) which I'd definitely recommend. You can choose your own broth (I did the veggie which I really enjoyed) and you choose around 10 items per round that can include veggies, meats, and alternate things like dumplings and eggs. They have a large variety of options (they had like 4 types of mushrooms and 4 varieties of tofu to name a few) so I'd even recommend this for vegetarians. We did 3-4 rounds and my favorites were the Chicken dumplings, fried tofu, baby corn, chicken, and enoki mushrooms. Of note you can also get the veggie spring rolls and a sweet roll with the all you can eat option, we didn't get the veggie roll since we were already stuffed but the sweet roll was a nice dessert! There is also a sauce bar where you can mix your own sauces and take it back to your table. The restaurant itself is clean and large, and they gave us these adorable panda pillows for our booth seats. There is plenty of parking in the One Loudon garages as well which is convenient.

I was here twice over the last two months. The first time, I ordered off the regular menu. The second time, I did the AYCE dim sum/tapas. Obviously, ordering a la carte, you'll get larger portions. It was all fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. Dishes came out lightning fast. And the food itself was stellar! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. You can't go wrong here, especially if you're getting one of the AYCE specials (there's a similar one at Mama Chang's). I want to note though, three of the dishes have the same flavor profile, just different main ingredients: spicy dry fish, spicy dry cauliflower, and dry fried spicy eggplant. They use dry fried red chili and ground Szechuan peppercorn. If you like this, great! Just know it's the same seasoning across these dishes. I didn't take photos of everything, but if it's braised pork xxxx, get it! I will gladly return to this location or Mama Chang's for another AYCE adventure.

Located off of busy Centreville Road in Herndon, DMV legendary restaurateur Peter Chang opened this latest establishment in September 2024. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended for their Bottomless weekend brunch; and especially if you have a large group, as we did. There is limited parking right in front, but drive a bit further for a larger lot across the street within a 2-3 min walk. The interior is modern with the familiar high ceilings, exposed duct work, faux greenery, and Asian themed artwork. Combined with the choice of almost tropical like tables and chairs, the decor was giving off serious Malaysia vibes. When our server arrived, she explained that diners could choose items from EITHER the Chinese Tapas or Traditional Dim Sum menu, which is awesome since this allows for the culinary options of over 45+ items!!! Depending on the size of your group, I would suggest ordering 6-8 items at a time, since the plates are small (about a 1-2 person serving size). And TBH, I like this style of AYCE as opposed to the the usual long steam tables of food which just sits underneath heat lamps, and has tongs which have been handled by lots of people...yuck! And for the restaurant, it helps to limit food waste. Over the next 90 minutes (time limit for the AYCE brunch), we sampled so many items, but some of the standouts were: * Crystal Shrimp Dumpling (har gow) - wrapper wasn't too thick, and the shrimp filling was plentiful and had excellent flavor * Steamed pork and shrimp shu mai - very good version of a dim sum staple. * Beef Chow Fun - noodles could've had more "wok hei" flavor, but beef was tender and not too salty. * Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) - good amount of seasoned soup inside the wrapper with tasty pork filling * Salt and pepper shrimp - peeled shrimp was flash fried, but not rubbery. It was topped with a salty peppery crunchy topping. We had several rounds of this dish. * Black Sesame egg yolk bao - creamy and not too sweet eggy filling, inside the soft black sesame bao I will detract one star for the service, however. Im my estimation, the place is understaffed for the volume of customers. Water and tea was a bit slow to arrive (after 8 min of sitting down) and it was challening to flag down our server to order more items; hence the reason it's recommended to get multiple dishes at one time. But at the end of the meal, everyone was quite pleased and satisfied, most importantly, mom and dad enjoyed the experience. When the check arrived, our party of 10 had ordered 40 items. With tax and tip, the total came out to a tad under $400. Tbh, for the quality and variety of food, $40/person is a good deal. I can definitely envision Peter Chang's weekend bottomless brunch being a monthly occurrence for me.
