I've been coming here for years, since 2017. The quality of the food and portion sizes were much more satisfying back then. Now the quality and portion sizes have gone down considerably. I understand the price increases, but you need to stop shrinking your containers down into smaller sizes and saying it's the same size when it's not! Pro - The Szechuan Style Beef Noodle Soup is pretty good, which includes house-made noodles and a rich, hearty broth. At 10.25, the price is acceptable. This is about the only thing worthy of a visit to this Chinese-American establishment. Con - The weekday lunch specials come with a spring roll (they advertise it as an egg roll but when I think of egg rolls, I imagine triple the size with much more filling) and fried rice (this is a joke! it's just white rice tossed in a wok with imitation soy sauce). Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chinese-American food options in Herndon, but none of them are something to rave about. You would need to trek out a bit further to Chantilly, Reston, Vienna, or Falls Church if you are looking for good/great Chinese restaurants. read more

Ordered pork chow mein expecting noodles because mein = noodles. When you Google "chow mein", it's a noodle dish. When you order chow mein from any other Chinese food restaurant, you get noodles. Instead, we got what is pictured. We called the restaurant and the lady got super defensive and said, "I don't know why customers get confused." Because this ain't chow mein, lady. And if you have to repeatedly call customers to tell them this isn't a noodle dish then that should tell you something. *Update* Very addictive! I can't get enough. I've spent at least $500 here, and they know my order when I walk in. Good stuff! As a vegetarian, having almost everything on the menu have a vegetarian counter-part was awesome. Area was clean, food was decently quick, and it was about what I expect size wise. My meal came with a container of white rice and a fortune cookie that was uneatably stale, but whatever- it was classically poor in grammar. Something like "Your love life and will be happy soon!". Wooden chopsticks are in a bin to the left of the register if you need them. *edit* I've now come here every day for a week, and I'm still not tired of the Vegetarian Sesame Chicken! Waiting for an orange chicken just to try something else right now. Pro tip! Order the dinner size, even if it's lunch! There's so much food that I always have enough to eat till I'm full (I'm a smaller dude, 140Lbs) but also have enough for a second meal later that night. Total comes to $11 or so, and I'd say that's a great deal for 2 meals! The Chinese food place down the street from our house went out of business and we were devastated. We tried multiple other places in the area and just couldn't find one that was as good as our favorite place.. until we tried Asian Garden. This place is, dare I say it, BETTER than our old favorite. They have so many options all of which are delicious. Our go-to favorites are the Lo Mein, Crystal Shrimp, Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and Hot and Sour soup. The Chinese Donuts are also delicious and perfectly cooked if you're looking for a nice dessert after your meal. We've only ventured into their other ethnic dishes (Thai food options) a few times but they have been good when we have. If you want Thai food specifically I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting it from here but it's also not terrible. All in all I'm so glad we found this place. Delicious food for a great price. The delivery is always timely and the food is always hot. 100% would recommend this place for your next "let's order Chinese and watch Netflix" kind of night. read more

I have ordered from here several times and the food has always been good. Above average shopping strip Chinese. But tonight we had ABSOLUTELY the BEST take out Chinese food we've ever had (I'm 67). Don't know if it's because of the COVED-19 slowdown or what, but they knocked it out of the park. The crispy beef was amazing, not only hot and tender but actually super fresh & CRISPY. I've had crispy beef several times at Cheng's Asian House (who are known for their crispy beef). I'll put it this way, Cheng's is my old favorite, not even close. The Mongolian beef is legit and the beef they use is superior to 90 % of the Chinese food restaurants in the Nova area. I haven't had this quality beef since I moved from Maryland a long time ago. Only place else I have found serves it is Cheng's Asia House which is my go to, as least when this covid crap is going on. The food is good. I've had a lot of Chinese food through the years and this location is pretty standard as far as the food goes. It does seem fresh. The egg drop soup could also benefit from some green onion. I gave my 5 star rating because of the cleanliness of the restaurant, the speed at which the food comes out and also that the dish ware was not styrofoam(dine in). I mean a lot of places give you 8 pieces of plastic with your lunch, just to throw away after. Whenever I have ordered shrimp here, they have had the poop veins properly removed and the vegetables have been properly prepared (e.g., snow peas have had their tips cut off as part of cleaning which is a good thing). Worst experience with delivery! The delivery guy complained about having to drive out to deliver our order and hinted that we shouldn't order ever again..what a joke! We ordered from this place twice. First time the food was subpar and we swore never to order again. The second time was just yesterday and since I am a vegan and delivery options are slim pickings in the area for vegan food, I made the decision to order from their vegan friendly menu. After our experience with the attitude of the delivery guy and terrible food, we won't be ordering again. The chef was so lazy that instead of cutting the vegan chicken into strips he cut them into huge triangles..not bite sized, but gigantic, awkward triangles. Gigantic chunks of red onion made up 90 percent of the vegetables in the dish..very cheap. What really topped off this terrible experience was the delivery driver. I don't know if this guy is the owner or not but he certainly has an attitude. He had the gall to tell my husband that it took him 45 mins to deliver the food and kept complaining about it the entire time my husband signed the receipt. He was lying through his teeth since I had placed the order no more than 35 minutes from when he arrived. I am sure the owner of this place would not appreciate knowing that his driver is telling people off and complaining with an attitude about having to deliver food. Who does that?? It was a real turn off and if the food wasn't enough to keep us away, the attitude of the driver and him implying that we not order from there again was enough. He even went as far to say that he didn't know how far we were from the restaurant. That's pretty funny actually because if we really are THAT far then don't leave your dumb menus at our door every month! Ridiculous. I don't know how this place expects to stay in business serving terrible Chinese food AND delivering it with a horrible attitude. Its nice and clean when you walk in so thats a plus. I dont like that they have crispy noodles in a bowl by the register... kinda of like spooning out mints... Anyways, I got the chicken chow mein and it was not like a chow mein I have had before... looked fresh for sure but it really didn't have flavor and thats after I poured soy on it.. The egg roll was decent, nothing spectacular but not bad. The fried rice was hard and the only flavor was soy and extra salty.. not edible really. The steamed dumplings were okay but again no real flavor... most of the food didnt get eaten so maybe thats a good thing on the calorie intake... I feel like the best thing I got out of this meal was a few reusable containers.. The service was friendly enough but am on the fence if I would try it again down the line. read more

I really like this place. Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen but a few things makes this place stand out. Like everyone says its very clean and the decors very nice. Ive only ever seen 2 women that work there but they're extremely friendly. The big difference here is that they do also offer a pretty good thai menu in addition to the chinese food. I've had the thai basil chicken and thai fried rice which were both good, especially the rice. The lunch specials are good, the entrees come with fried rice and a spring roll. Their kungpao is excellent. I wish I could give it a 4.5 bc for what it is, its fantastic. It isnt a one of a kind, high end place with fancy dishes and exotic cuisine, and it doesnt pretend to be.
