    Orange Chicken Lunch Special
    Christopher S.

Pro - The Szechuan Style Beef Noodle Soup is pretty good, which includes house-made noodles and a rich, hearty broth. At 10.25, the price is acceptable. This is about the only thing worthy of a visit to this Chinese-American establishment. Con - The weekday lunch specials come with a spring roll (they advertise it as an egg roll but when I think of egg rolls, I imagine triple the size with much more filling) and fried rice (this is a joke! it's just white rice tossed in a wok with imitation soy sauce). Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chinese-American food options in Herndon, but none of them are something to rave about. You would need to trek out a bit further to Chantilly, Reston, Vienna, or Falls Church if you are looking for good/great Chinese restaurants.

Ordered pork chow mein expecting noodles because mein = noodles. When you Google "chow mein", it's a noodle dish. When you order chow mein from any other Chinese food restaurant, you get noodles. Instead, we got what is pictured. We called the restaurant and the lady got super defensive and said, "I don't know why customers get confused." Because this ain't chow mein, lady. And if you have to repeatedly call customers to tell them this isn't a noodle dish then that should tell you something. Don't blame the customers for being confused when it's called chow mein.

*Update* Very addictive! I can't get enough. I've spent at least $500 here, and they know my order when I walk in. Good stuff! As a vegetarian, having almost everything on the menu have a vegetarian counter-part was awesome. Area was clean, food was decently quick, and it was about what I expect size wise. My meal came with a container of white rice and a fortune cookie that was uneatably stale, but whatever- it was classically poor in grammar. Something like "Your love life and will be happy soon!". Wooden chopsticks are in a bin to the left of the register if you need them. *edit* I've now come here every day for a week, and I'm still not tired of the Vegetarian Sesame Chicken! Waiting for an orange chicken just to try something else right now. Pro tip! Order the dinner size, even if it's lunch! There's so much food that I always have enough to eat till I'm full (I'm a smaller dude, 140Lbs) but also have enough for a second meal later that night. Total comes to $11 or so, and I'd say that's a great deal for 2 meals! Upgrading to 5 stars as long as they keep the prices like t I'm afraid to write how much I like this place, and how much of a better deal it is honestly than even Lotus Vegetarian down the road because I don't want it to get TOO busy, but it's worth it to make sure they stay busy :)

Poor quality & over priced. I was working near here and decided to stop in for lunch. I had the seafood combo, it was tastless and terrible. Plus I got charged $15 bucks. I don't see how this place can stay in business.

Decided to get Chinese today. This place is a bit small, but it's clean. The food was surprisingly good. It's kind of hidden on the side of this shopping center. The price was decent. Plating of the dishes were nice. I would definitely recommend this place. No complaints from me!

What I enjoyed about Yo more than a place like Dumpling District (very similar in menu) was the quality and vibes of the service and atmosphere. The servers were very helpful to explain the dishes to my family members who needed some help. The food hit! The Spicy dry noodles are definitely what drew me to come here and they did not disappoint. My kids loved the pork chops. The seafood soup was loaded! The flavors were exceptional. And for as much food as we order, the price was pretty reasonable! We look forward to our next visit!

For example, the Panfried Pork Bun used to be my favorite item here but they've changed the recipe significantly. The pork filling used to be a lot larger and juicier...but now when you break open the bun, the filling is so small that half of the bun doesn't even have any meat. 80% of the bun is just dough and it's not fried well and quite greasy. Everything overall was way too greasy, including the crueller and the dry noodles were swimming in oil. I did like the texture of the noodles, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the oiliness of the broth it was sitting in. It's really sad to see this place fall short since it opened a couple years ago. I'm hoping that they can improve their quality of food as it's really gone downhill since opening.

I looked at the reviews, which are mixed, with some who really like the food but some who were naysayers. Still, we thought it was worth a try. One thing mentioned in a review is that there are currently only two tables in the place. Thus, we were glad to discover that they work with DoorDash. We placed an order this past Sunday. We ordered two hot and sour soups, one order of chicken with snow peas and one order of spicy chicken with garlic sauce. As an aside, rice comes with each entree. We didn't know that so we had ordered one side of rice. As for the food, the portions are large. We got two meals out of them. We were pleasantly surprised by the food. The chicken with snow peas was a mild dish that came with an abundance of white meat chicken and a generous amount of snow peas. The snow peas had a nice crunch to them. The chicken with garlic sauce was mildly spicy and contained white meat chicken, sliced onions, and sliced celery. It reminded me of the same dish I had many years ago: same ingredients, same taste. My husband enjoyed his chicken dish. The hot and sour soup was okay. We've had better, but we've also had worse. If you like button mushrooms, they put a lot of them in this soup. We decided that we would order from them again.

The woman who was working the front of the house was very nice. She told us to pick a table and take a seat. Once we had done so, she brought us menus. The place could use some refurbishing as the tables were old and sticky. After looking over the menu, we both ordered hot and sour soup. For my entree, I chose ma po tofu while my husband chose a dish that had scallops and shrimp. To drink, I got a ginger ale. It came in a can, and it was Lidl's house brand. My husband had a beer. As the evening progressed, we noticed that they do a good takeout business. Eventually, a young man came into work, which was no doubt a good thing as the nice lady was getting very busy. As for the food, the hot and sour soup was okay. Not as much stock in it as we would have preferred. The ma po tofu was spicy, but not to the point where the spice overpowered the other flavors. It did contain a spice that we didn't recognize. My husband noticed that same spice in his entree. Please keep in mind that rice incurs an additional cost. We both chose to have brown rice. Their menu has a page that lists Thai and Malaysian dishes. Our feeling is that if we wanted one of those cuisines, we would go to a restaurant that specialized in those foods. Overall, it was an "OK" experience. We appreciated the friendly service.

Also, the hot and sour soup was below average, too. That plus the prices have all around increased; they even charged me .50 cents for hot sauce (dining in)! With the prices up and the quality down, I'd try other places instead. Disappointing.

This place has a robust take-out business (DoorDash drivers running in and out). It's great for foodies, but also a noisy place (not ideal for a first date). Free parking is easy in a strip mall lot in downtown Vienna between the CVS and Giant. On the plus side, it has authentic Szechuan-style dishes, including dried cauliflower (savory blend of flavors with a hint of peppercorn), the baby bok choy with tofu skins (to enjoy and refresh the palate), Lazi Chicken (fried chicken bits with peppercorn), and stir-fry green beans. My sons devoured the Lazi Chicken dish and wished that it had more chicken chunks. Small bowls of white rice are included. They also have American-style Chinese food (e.g., kung-pao chicken) but we only ordered a small number of Szechuan-style dishes. On the minus side, it's a tiny space with a limited number of tables (most accommodate up to 4 people). Noise level is high, but maybe that was because it was Saturday night. Overall, we'll continue to order takeout from this place! But we may visit again during off-peak hours.
