Pan 112. Pan-fried Noodle

The pan-fried noodles didn't taste good at all; they tasted horrible, so we didn't eat them. The mangolian beef had a smell, which was unusual because I've never smelled anything off from their food before. I think the management must have changed.

Worst Chinese food I've even had. Order lunch special chow mein. Never had a chow mein like this before. No noodles, instead lots of cabbage. No soy based sauce, instead it was some clear-ish sauce. So bad I basically just threw it out, paid the check and walked across the street to another restaurant. The restaurant doesn't seem to turn the heat on as all the employees were in coats and it was freezing.

I had a huge HUGE craving for Chinese food. I normally order from EastGate or Asian Cafe but I wanted different options and I didn't want to wait long for the food to be delivered. I got wanton, crab Rangoon, egg roll, chicken mooshu and fried dumplings. Can you tell I had a HUGE craving for Chinese food? The wanton was crispy with one small sliver of meat inside when we opened up two of them. Nothing but crunch the hard kind. We tossed them out. We then went to the egg rolls that were filled with cabbage and ate those. They were ok but wish they were with more than just cabbage. We tried the dumplings next, which was more like bread (not like wanton wrapper or the dim sum dumpling dough), again BREAD with questionable meat inside. :( we split one dumpling - spit it out and threw all of them out. The Crab Rangoon was next up at bat; which was mostly made of melted cream cheese. I opened up the mooshu which looked great! There was a question if there was mushrooms in there or not. So I let my partner eat it as I was unsure even though I put no mushrooms on the order. He said it was good. It was super easy to order online! The delivery was very quick and prompt! The delivery driver was super nice! I would just alter the recipes they use for some of their foods.

I enjoy their lunch specials. They have a nice variety, it comes out fresh, and they are generous with the serving. The cashier is friendly and quick to take my order. The chefs in the back are kind and cook everything in a timely manner. I appreciate that they offer complimentary hot tea. It's sitting on a counter and you help yourself. Sauces, napkins, paper plates, and cups are also on a counter. Plenty of indoor seating is available. People mostly place orders to go or call in for delivery. Their homemade hot sauce is delicious, definitely ask for some of that. Of the many times I've placed take out orders from here, they accidentally gave me the wrong dish once. When I gave them a call, they immediately took down my address and brought me over the right dish. That was very professional of them. I also appreciate that the restaurant is neat and clean. They have a wonderful ventilation system, which is greatly appreciated. You can look into the kitchen as you place your order and everything is super tidy. Love that!

Chantilly/South Riding needs this asian chinese restaurant. Good for take out. Tried the Hunan Chicken, seemed OK. Close to Harris-Teeter, get it to go after grocery shoping. The selection here is awesome. They do have a nice big Plasma which is somewhat unusual. The prices are really coming down on those things! They have all the usual you would expect and add something nice; Health Food Section with four steamed chicken and shrimp with veggie options. They also have Thai cuisine. The have 20 Lunch Specials from 11a to 3p Mon to Sat. Delivery for orders over $15. They also have party take out.

Pad Thai with beef had the best noodles, perfectly chewy. Slightly on the sweet side, but very addictive. Good portions Papaya salad was very fresh and tasty. Definitely getting this again. The Thai Coffee with crème brûlée was smooth and creamy, very satisfying. I would say that Sense of Thai St. has become a neighborhood staple and stands strong among the other great Thai places in the area. Definitely has improved and remained steady over the years. The service is always top-notch, and the bar with limited kitchen options stays open late as one of the only late-night options in that immediate area, which is nice after a big gym session in the evenings. I still think the prices are a little hard to swallow for the portion sizes in terms of how much actual protein you get with any one dish. But it's undeniable how perfectly balanced the flavors and spices are, and the menu is always evolving with a very wide range of Asian fusion and traditional Thai dishes. I have a TOUGH time figuring out what to order because every creation sounds so amazing! I recently got the beef noodle Thai ramen with the five-spice egg added (see photo), and it was really good. The five-spice egg is a must try, bursting with a rainbow of flavors and accenting any dish.

My mom and I were seated right next to the front door by the manager. Since it was freezing outside and the door kept opening, we politely asked if we could move to a table away from the draft. He told us no because a large group was expected to arrive soon. We then asked another employee, who said it wouldn't be a problem and moved us to a different table. A few moments later, the manager noticed we had been reseated. He came over, abruptly took the menus from our table, and angrily told us to leave the restaurant. The way he spoke to us was aggressive and totally uncalled for, especially considering his own staff had seated us. We decided to leave at that point. As we were heading out, he raised his voice again and told us to "go home," which was embarrassing and uncomfortable with other diners around. There was no confrontation on our end -- we didn't argue, complain, or cause a scene. We simply asked not to sit in the cold draft by the door. The entire situation escalated solely because of how the manager handled it. It's disappointing because the restaurant advertises friendly, welcoming service, which was the complete opposite of what we experienced. After reading other reviews, it also seems this isn't an isolated issue. If the owners see this, I'd strongly suggest addressing how customers are spoken to. No one should be yelled at or treated aggressively for making a simple, reasonable request.

I had the lunch special here on a Friday and it was pretty darn good. Tastes were authentic but the "spicy" dishes could have used more spice. The lunch special offers 2 sides from among 3 choices: fried spring roll, papaya salad, or tom yum chicken soup. Since I had dining companions, I tried all three. The fried spring roll was average. It was not a fried stick of tasteless goo like at some other places. It had decent structure inside and good flavor, but it was rather plain. The sweet chili sauce on it was average and also had somewhat of an artificial pinkish hue to it. The tom yum chicken soup was similarly average but tasty enough to be satisfying. In my opinion, the papaya salad was the best of these three. It was crisp and fresh tasting, and had a good hint of chili spice to it. For entrees, we had the garlic tofu, drunken noodles, and chicken pad krapow. The garlic tofu came in a ring of undercooked broccoli. It could have been steamed longer or integrated with the cooking of the tofu and sauce. The flavor profile was lighter and less intense than at other Thai restaurants. Both the drunken noodles and the pad krapow delivered with familiar flavors, but underperformed on spice level. They were both denoted on the menu with 2 chili symbols but really came out weak (1 or less on the Universal Thai Spice Scale - UTSS). I'd come back here for the lunch special, or just to try anything else off the full menu, but I'd want to ask the kitchen to up their seasoning to match UTSS standards.
