Four stars - hopefully this will raise their average rating a bit. Looking through the reviews, this place has been here for at least 11 years and has quite a few 1-star reviews for being "the worst" or "terrible." Not so! At least when I took out 2 lunch specials. I had the double-cooked pork and the shrimp lo mein. Both containers were packed like sand bags. Full and dense. Both orders came with fried rice and an egg roll. I had the option of choosing the egg roll or a soda - I think an old menu image says it comes with both, but you only get to choose one now. The lo mein was flavorful (about 42 times more flavorful than that panda place). The shrimp were medium size and numerous. The whole dish had a good number of shrimp and vegetable bits throughout. The double cooked pork was great - on par with many of the other good take out restaurants in the area. It had a wide range of vegetables. The pork was cooked in thin strips rather than the broad thin slices the way some other places do it. The spice was mild. Maybe it could have been a little stronger, but it was fine. The accompanying fried rice was ok. I actually prefer white rice so I'll have to ask them next time I go back if that's an option even though the menu says only fried rice for the lunch specials. (I'm definitely going back.) The fried rice was short-grained rice. Maybe some people don't notice or care, but I prefer the rice to be medium- or long-grained. Short-grained rice and Chinese take out don't quite match, and with the sauciness of the double-cooked pork, eating this stickier rice reminded me of a Japanese teriyaki or gyudon dish. The egg rolls were meh. Slightly better than some other take out places where they're just fried blobs of cabbage-like mush. If your need to quench your thirst is strong, then you should trade the egg roll for a soda. This place is strictly take out. There are no tables for dining in - only a long bench and a few chairs to sit on while waiting for your order. The lady behind the counter was quick and efficient, but friendly. One of the old reviews complained about being rudely treated when asking for packets of sweet and sour (duck) sauce and mustard. Without asking, my order came with a handful of soy sauce, duck sauce, and spicy mustard packets, as well as two fortune cookies. There's a hand written sign near the cashier offering chili oil for 25 cents. There's also a gumball machine (probably 25 cents, too). But if you're going to buy one of them with that quarter in your pocket, I'd go for the chili sauce. The gumballs are probably from 1997. This place is A-1 in my book. At least for now. read more

Had the shrimp egg foo young, never have been able to eat more than one patty. They were very good, even they gravy was on point. My first visit was great, service was great. I be in Chantilly twice a week don't know how I miss this place..Next week will try something else. Thank for great meal and service. read more

Its not bad, it's not great either, very much an average American Chinese food restaurant. I got 2 "spicy" dishes, the only thing hot about them was the temperature. If they had been spicy, definitely would have got them another star. I'll eat here again as it was servicable. read more

Stopped by this place for the first time today and got some food for my girl and I. I got a spicy beef Lo mein which was pretty decent, sautéed dumplings that were meh (not a lot of flavor unless you bathed them in sauce) and the Hunan Delight which supposed to have Scallops, beef and jumbo shrimp. Now I understand that seafood is expensive but the dish is more expensive than a chicken dish for example. But to pay almost $15 for a dish and not have what is claimed?? Come on!! It literally had two tiny scallops that were the same size as the water chestnuts. I had to really dig to find the second tiny scallop. Check out the picture below. The portions here are very generous. I especially liked the crab rangoon! Also, I had the sweet and sour chicken. Normally at Chinese restaurants you get dry chicken - but here the chicken was JUICY and delicious. Was a better options for chicken nuggets if you eat it without the red sweet and sour sauce. I give this place 5 stars relative to the type of Chinese restaurant it is. It's not gourmet, fancy, expensive, fusion, or trendy; it simply is 5 stars as far as strip mall takeout/delivery Chinese places go. The delivery is always incredibly fast!!! (faster than "JJ"!), and the new website with online ordering is great. Thanks to the generous online coupons, you can pretty much get a free appetizer anytime you order. The food is tasty and plentiful. Triple Delight is my favorite food, which has shrimp, beef, and pork! We've tried tons of dishes here--apps, soups, entrees--and have always been happy. Second visit will be my last. I gave this place another shot and the food was inedible except for the egg roll. Not sure what they did to the fried rice. It smelled strange and tasted horrible. The pork dish was swimming in way too much sauce that tasted like they put too much concentrated ingredients into it. It was overpowering and greasy and the vegetables were wilted in the sauce. I returned the food and they agreed that it was not cooked right and gave me my money back which I appreciated. However, I can not understand why they gave me this quality food in the first place. Sad to say...another terrible Chinese "restaurant". As if we didn't have enough of those. It's as though they don't even care. How they are still in business, I don't know. What I do know is I will never go back. I tell myself to try things twice if I don't like it the first time, but this place is an exception to my rule. This take out place is on a strip near Dulles Expo and tucked in a small corner next door to Enterprise. It's a small place with plain decor and a booth to sit for take out. Nothing special. The menu is pretty extensive with alot of choices. Since I am fasting this week (no meat), I wanted to give this place a try to see how their vegetarian entrees are. I decided on the egg drop soup, kung pao tofu, and vegetable lo mein. I figured this would at least last me 2-3 days. It took close to 15 minutes to make everything and it smelled great. Sadly...I did not know what was going to happen next. Got home, took a bite of my egg drop and it was so bland. I had to add pepper and salt and a bit of vinegar. It was not good, how can you mess up egg drop?? Next, my Kung Pao Tofu definitely needed flavor. The carrots were very hard and had huge chunks of garlic which made it overbearing. I had garlic breathe all day, no vampires were coming near me that's for sure! It actually lacked in sauce and I love my sauce on my food. Most chinese places put too much but this place was barely anything, I had to dig for it to pour over my rice. My lo mein was lacking in flavor also, plain and dry noodles. Even the fried wonton skins for my egg drop was stale! I mean commeeee oonnn!! The least I could do was munch on those. Everything was disappointing and I could never spend money here ever again. Then I ask for house sweet and sour and mustard, for her to tell me "we don't do that here." ??? Which was just a blow off because when we got to the hotel there was sweet and sour. ONE. For 2 appitizers. The worst part was when we looked at the wonton soup, like 5 wontons in a large soup. No veggies, no scallions and no pork... At this point I'm not even hungry anymore. Absolutely the worst food I've ever had from a restaurant. I ordered veggie egg rolls, hot and sour soup, and for a benchmark kung pao chicken, and general tso's chicken. The egg rolls were the tiniest I've ever had at a restaurant anywhere. Smaller than my pinky finger. The hot and sour soup was disgusting. It's an easy soup to make tasty, tastes pretty much the same at any Chinese restaurant in NOVA but they managed to even screw that up. It tasted like beef stock with rice vinegar and some hot sauce tossed in. The tofu was like wet cardboard. The Kung pao chicken was the best thing I had. Not saying much since it tasted like chef boyardee sauce with chicken. The chicken was tender though (makes me wonder what it really was). The general tso's chicken was dry and drowned in a jar of sweet and sour sauce you could buy at a grocery store. I also had a side of white rice (fine but who can screw up rice) and lo mein. The lo mein tasted like it was stale. I forgot to add that the carrots in the kung pao tasted like frozen carrots. read more

Generous portion, food is serviced hot, friendly stuff. I prefer food with less salt and sauce, which is probably why it is just right for me. Sometimes a bit over cooked so -1 point, but it is good enough for a delivery. Recommended dishes: hot and sour soup, spring roll, fried rice, Kungpao chicken, chow mein. Also you may ask for their hand-made dumplings and steamed bun on the weekend. $10 for 25 cooked hand-made dumplings and $1 for the huge meat bun, that is a steal. I love Chinese food and thought that this establishment was going to be pretty good since someone recommended it. I ordered scallops and broccoli. The scallops and broccoli comes with a order of steam rice. When I got the food the food was steaming hots even when I got back to my hotel room. Hence I give another star for that. My meal once bit into it was so untasteful. It tasted like someone just learned how to make a Chinese dish for the first time and tried to hard. The sauce tasted like they put some flour in it for some reason, it was plain goey. The rice was perfect but I could not eat more then 5 bites of the main course. For $11 I thought that was pretty high for a plate full of goey sauce and wilted broccoli. Will never eat that again read more

Originally I been going to this spot since 2008ish(with the older lady running it). I use to love the place as it came with generous portions. Now they are getting extremely stingy with the portion. I use to always get lunch from there on Fridays...use to cost roughly $7 now its like $8.50 and comes with a can soda. I can honestly care less about they can soda. I prefer the original portions. My last order of general tso had 5 small pieces of chicken smothered in a ton of sauce and like a full pound of rice. All in all, I am disappointed in how far this place has dropped since switching the name from Yung Chow Cafe and the older lady leaving. I won't be spending anymore of my funds there.
