This spot is the real deal! After reading great reviews of this restaurant, I came to Running Dish with my best friend to catch up over dinner. We began by ordering sushi and items for our hot pot - all were incredibly fresh and tasty. I particularly loved the Szechuan broth - which I made sure to ask them to make vegetarian (be sure to ask beforehand as some broths are made with pork). From there, we fired up the grill with brisket, bulgogi, and, my favorite, the garlic shrimp! Everything was so juicy and paired perfectly with the sauce bar items we chose. I particularly loved the crab rangoons and kimchi as some fun sides! The restaurant is very spacious and is great for groups or eating with a friend. We originally had plans to go to a hot pot spot closer to Ashburn, but they were having kitchen issues, so we looked up nearby alternatives and found this gem. I had never been before, but it ended up being such a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is huge, very clean, and super modern, with plenty of parking and easy-to-find location. What really stood out was the concept--this is the first place I've seen that offers hot pot, Korean BBQ, and sushi all in one spot. You can choose two or all three, which is awesome if you're dining with people who like variety. We got there kind of late--around 8:45 p.m.--and since they close at 10, we opted to do just hot pot and sushi to keep it quick. If we had more time, we definitely would've tried all three options. The service was great, the sauce bar was fantastic (so many choices!), and they even had appetizers ready to go. I had the Tom Yum broth, which was flavorful and just the right level of spicy. Came here for lunch on the weekend and this place is surprisingly good. They offer hot pot, kbbq, and sushi. You pick 2 options and can pick a 3rd for an extra $3. We went with kbbq and sushi. You order everything on an iPad and the food gets to you quickly, with the sushi traveling to you on a conveyor belt. The sushi was all excellent and fresh and the meats, especially the various steak options were juicy, flavorful and tender. I've been seeing great reviews for this spot in Sterling, VA, and had to try it for lunch! It is a Chinese owned AYCE (pick 2: hot pot, kbbq, sushi) but you can have all three options for an additional $3. To start, it's a far drive for mid bbq and kpot. We did not try the sushi bc I saw reviews that it wasn't the best option from other yelpers. Why the 3 stars? My biggest turn off was how long the iPad was locked for us to order. We like to order our veggies for the hot pot broth to start before ordering the meats. Tell me why we waited 20 minutes for the iPad to unlock again before ordering our meats. When we asked our waitress, she said it is made to limit our orders. So we just had veggie broth for the first 20-30 minutes there. I understand, wanting to limit the orders, and how customers may over order, but the wait time was not it. She also did not tell us about the wait time until we asked. When it was finally unlocked, we definitely mass ordered 11 dishes! Mind you, we did not even order noodles or anything to start us off and we were HUNGRY. The hotpot and bbq is self serve. The stations were filled with a huge array of hot pot ingredients. There was a smaller section for fresh bbq meats and side dishes. We also ordered our sushi through our server. The sushi was fresh and arrived via the conveyer. My only issue was the appetizers(eggrolls, dumplings, and French fries were lukewarm. Service was good. After seeing a review from Lyn L., I realized I needed to try this place ASAP (more like half a month later..)!! I drove by this spot initially when I came to a nearby restuarant and had no idea what it was, I thought it was a "night" club. They are open every day, including Christmas, which is when we went. The place was not busy at all, which worked in our favor. Our server, Andrea explained everything thoroughly, was very attentive, and didn't come by constantly/unnecessarily. There was a Running Dish robot, but it wasn't being used. I am curious if/when they have used it since the soft/grand opening. Below are the options/things to note: -The entire table can select 2 or 3 of the following AYCE options at a fixed price: BBQ, Sushi, Hot Pot. -Lunch is $25.99, dinner is 33.99. I believe they charge dinner prices on weekends and holidays. Either way, the prices are good considering the options. -BBQ/Hot Pot ingredients are available at the "buffet", which include meats and vegetables. -The sushi also has an optional sashimi menu at an additional cost. Sushi orders are placed on the iPad and delivered on the conveyor belt. There is an option to call the server from the device. When placing orders, there will be prices listed, but it zeros out at the end. The raw fish is served with one per order, cooked is 4-6 per order. -Fried/cooked items and dessert are available at the buffet. The cooked items include crab wontons, dumplings, fries, etc. They tasted a little stale/old. -Sauces/condiments are available at the buffet. -The server changes the BBQ plates as needed, mostly when the grill is burned/charged...or upon request. The grills look like Hexclad pots/pans, so definitely good quality. We opted for sushi and BBQ: -The BBQ was delicious. We selected the various steaks/beef and pork. I used the chili oil from the condiment section to cook the meats instead of using the oil at the table. While it wasn't mentioned on the menu, we requested a side of rice to eat with the BBQ. -For sushi, I preferred the "special rolls" vs raw. There were a lot of crab options; we mostly ordered the shrimp and eel rolls. I appreciate that the rolls were not massive or filled with too much rice. The dessert section was not impressive...with stale/dry cheesecake, some liquidy desserts and ice cream. I loved the upscale-look of the restaurant with the minimal lighting and dark colors. It looks very well maintained and clean...including the booths, aisles and buffet area. The bathrooms are just as clean and upscale looking. The stalls have fancy locks, walls are marble and the low lights give lux vibes. I would suggest grouping fried and dessert items together, separate from the raw/uncooked items. Currently they have it laid out in an L shape where fried items are on one end and dessert/fruit items are on the opposite end. Also, I wish they offered the AYCE option to select ONE of the three. Prior to my visit, I called them multiple times to confirm they were open, but the call didn't go through. Being that they recently opened, the gentleman at the front said they must be having issues with the phone line. Hopefully they were able to fix it. Phenomenal experience overall. I've been to many different hot pot, KBBQ, and sushi places, sometimes even a combo of the two, but never all three. It was so fun and so delicious getting all three. My family obliterated so much sashimi, sushi rolls, grilled, and boiled meats! I've never seen a place with such a WIDE selection of foods. Every meat imaginable, tons of veggies, and even 'weird' things like quail eggs, taro, lotus, you name it, this is a real deal authentic hot pot place. I like the buffet set up, everything is clearly safely preserved, many of the meats are in sliding coolers, and it all just seems well-organized and clean. I like that I can go load up on whatever I want to bring back to the table for my pot/grill and don't have to wait to reorder more. I like that it enables trying lots of different things too. And the sushi comes out relatively fast on the conveyor belt and stops right at your table. They also have a wide array of ice cream flavors for dessert, including a yummy coffee ice cream. We were really excited to try this concept! The idea that you could select what you wanted from a buffet to cook vs ordering and not knowing how much you'd receive or whether you'd like what was delivered is an amazing way to limit food waste and ensure that you can choose what you like. Unfortunately there is no longer a buffet of ingredients and everything has to be ordered off a tablet like every other k bbq or hot pot restaurant. When we asked why, our server said something about the health dept didn't allow it. That makes no sense because they would have had to get approval to open and operate the way they had been up until recently. We will go back if they return to the original set up. Skip the sushi. If I could get it zero stars I would. When we first arrived, the host took us to our table. When we saw the table, the seats was incredibly dirty and so was the table. We were wiping down the seats and table ourself while the host just watch. Keep in mind, the place was practically empty. He could've moved us to a different table, but didn't. My wife found this from little red note. Great review, so we decided to give it a try. We do have another closer bbq & hot pot location closer to us, but parking is horrible over there. We arrived around 3 pm on Saturday. Not a lot of people at that time, which means we were brought to a table immediately. The server explained how it works and since it's a Saturday it will be dinner price. I really appreciated the honesty and clear on prices before we started. There are always food on both bbq and hot pot bars. Carb legs did not go empty like other places. Two hour dining period did not really matter cause you will be full before that time. But try not to fill up on that because the bbq is good. Pretty sure some of these portions were over 3oz, but the bulgogi was delicious, and I've never heard of a place having ayce filet mignon but here we are. But wait! Ayce sushi too! Including sashimi as an option. Everything was good. There is also a buffet included of appetizers and sauces. They have snow crab legs on said bar, as well as a seafood boil with more crab legs in that. There's some desserts as well, but I was too full from the main meal to even think about them. My enthusiasm quickly waned. The initial 30-minute wait to be seated wasn't unreasonable for a weekend. Once inside, we noted the salad bar did feature crab legs, which might be a plus for some. Ordering is done via an iPad, which sounds modern, but be warned: ensure you order everything you want in one go, as you're locked out from adding more for a frustrating 10 minutes. We placed our order, and then the real waiting began. It took over 30 minutes for our BBQ meats to arrive and an almost unbelievable 50+ minutes for our sushi rolls to make an appearance. When the food did finally come, it was, at best, buffet quality. The sushi rolls were passable, but the BBQ meat was a significant letdown - a clear case of "you get what you pay for," and unfortunately, we felt we paid too much for what we received. Service was another major pain point. It was severely lacking throughout our meal. When it came time to leave, I had to ask for the check multiple times, only to be seemingly ignored by the staff. The final straw, and the reason for my title, came with the bill. Despite arriving and dining squarely within their advertised "lunch special" timeframe, we were charged the full dinner price ($37.99 per person instead of the expected $25.99 lunch price). When I questioned this discrepancy, the staff member pointed to a line on the menu: "All Holidays and Weekends All Day Dinner." This, to me, is incredibly misleading. It implies the menu offerings are dinner, not that the lunch pricing is void. It felt deliberately obscure and, frankly, shady. Between the glacial pace of food delivery, the underwhelming quality of the meat, the poor service, and the sneaky pricing, this was a deeply disappointing experience. But the hostess, an older woman, brought us to a table right next to the restroom. I literally came across this place here on Yelp! while searching for another revolving sushi place in Tyson's - a big shout out to all Yelpers for leaving informative reviews and photos! The Yelp! reviews were on points and boy, glad we changed our plans to come to Running Dish instead. Ambiance: It was the President's Day and it wasn't crowded. Plenty of parking outside and plenty of tables available, totally to our advantage. The interior is huge (all with 4 or 6 people booths), it's new and clean, love the Chinese pops playing in the background. Service: Our waitress was very patient with us while we were debating to go with the 2 or 3 options. We went with sushi and BBQ, which was a great choice, had we chose all three, think we would have been overwhelmed. Service was optimal - she checked in on us only when needed, but walked by frequently to refill water, clean out any dirty plates. Food: Food is well worth the $34 per person. I started with the mini hot food bar and the fried scallops were so good! The Japanese style shumai were a bit dry but very flavorful. I've seen this restaurant several times as I go to several of the local business near by. I typically read reviews before going to a new place and read several good reviews; I was excited to try it. Our party was 6 people and we decided to pick the sushi and hotpot. There is also a buffet that is included in your selection. Everyone was excited for that extra perk. This buffet included some spring rolls, crab rangoon, crab legs, shrimp, seaweed salad, marinated squid, some dessert items and the sauce fixings for hot pot. The crab legs were watery and tough. Unsupervised kids were putting their grubby hands everywhere on the buffet which quickly prevented me from trying anything else. The waiter brought our items out for hotpot providing no explanation on what the different meats were. We got several red meats, but it was not clear which was which. We got scallops that were plated next to quail eggs causing cross contamination for those with sea food allergies. With 6 people at the same table you can imagine how chaotic it becomes when serving yourself with hot pot fixings. The hot pot Tom Yum was very good and the meats and veggies were fresh. We also ordered sushi. It comes to you via a conveyer belt. Presentation was nice, but taste was not very fresh. Also, would recommend the waiters to check on their customers more often even though you order from iPads. I do not think I will return to the Running Dish for hot pot which is very convenient for me; instead, will drive the extra distance to a restaurant that only serves hot pot. read more

Got a coupon in the Valpak mailers and noticed that they are on our way for kids event. Went there to try out. It offers AYCE sushi, korean bbq and chinese hotpot (shabu-shabu style, individual small pots), and you can pick either one, two or all types at different tier of pricing. Sushi came to you from the revolving belt fairly slow though, and you pick the other ingredients directly on the counters by yourself. Meat selection was not up to my expectation, nor the quality. This is a very good place, I went here for my mom and cousins birthday and it was a delight experience. The staff are polite and this place is overall amazing. The scenery is nice too. Excluding the bug we found in our dish, I would recommend. read more

Huge selection of average or worse foods. The Korean barbecue meat was both low quality and low flavor. Even the spicy choices had very little flavor. Because the restaurant seems to be empty most of the time, the hot items that are out, such as egg rolls, are mushy and clearly been sitting under the heat lamps for way too long. Sushi was gummy and not good. The only reason it's not one star is because service was decent and the place looks nice. read more
