Sima Sushi - A Fun, Fresh Spin on Sushi Night Sima Sushi offered such a unique and fun dining experience! Watching the chefs prepare sushi right in front of us and then place it directly onto the conveyor belt was something totally new for us -- it added an interactive and lively touch that made the night feel special. The price point was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. Every dish we tried was fresh and flavorful, but the standouts were definitely the beef and the spicy tuna hand roll -- both were absolutely delicious and had us reaching for seconds. The chefs were kind and welcoming, always giving a smile when handing over dishes. There was only one server working the floor during our visit, but since it wasn't too busy, service still felt smooth and attentive. If you're looking for sushi with a twist and solid flavors without breaking the bank, Sima Sushi is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back for more hand rolls and that fun conveyor belt charm!

We've had Sima twice now and they are very consistent and delicious! The food is fresh and tasteful and the staff is attentive and you can call them on the iPad if you need them. Ordering is easy if you don't see what you want on the conveyor belt. I love the variety of the offerings at Sima and there's plenty of raw and cooked options! The space is small and clean (but the bathroom does need to be attended a little more frequently). Overall a wondering sushi restaurant in DC!

Not my fave sushi conveyor belt experience. The rolls are higher priced than other similar venues and while the plates technically range in price from $3.50 to $9.50, the majority of options were on the higher end especially if you want any of the nigiri. I stuck to the maki for the price point but the rolls tasted off, especially the tuna. The signs on the conveyor belt also didn't match the sushi so you had to guess what you were picking up. In hindsight I should've ordered exclusively from the tablet at the table (both to avoid the guesswork and ensure freshness) but I wanted the experience.

My coworkers and I came here in a quiet Friday for lunch before we were off for the holidays. They had the conveyer belt sushi. This place has been on our list to try. We were allowed to sit whereever was open. We also had a server come to our table, who was very quick. They had an iPad to order food too and we had the sushi chef give the food directly to our table. While we were looking at the menu, they had sushi come around on the conveyer belt, which I indulged in. All the sushi was great. I got mochi ice cream - green tea, which was okay. The ambiance is great and for anyone who is a fan of sushi, it's definitely worth it to try the conveyer belt situation. I would come back here again!

This was a wonderful spot located near to our hotel. We were struggling to decide what we wanted to eat and rotating sushi sounded like a crowd pleaser. They also have menu items and options that can be made to order. The service was great, and the prices were fair. Presentation was top-notch and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a easy dinner.

Great food and options, the service was slow and the wait was super long largely due to being such a small place.

My favorite conveyor belt sushi in the dmv! Wonderfully fresh, unique, and generous. Each nigiri has a huge piece of fish on it and all of it is so fresh tasting. Love that you can order from the tablet included at every table. Is a small restaurant, but cozy and intimate. Sushi chefs are friendly and fast, you can tell they know what they are doing.

I've always wanted to try conveyor belt sushi. And it just happened to be very convenient where we were at that afternoon. The quality of sushi was good. However, the portion prices were not so good. When you pull a plate you get charged for what you normally pay for a full roll but I end up getting half that. The prices are based off a plate color and some of the plate colors are hard to determine. Service is good and attentive. You can request special sushi either by talking to the chefs or input into the iPad at your table. Again, as good experience as it was. It would not return because it gets pretty pricey. They'll get much for it.

This place was soo cool I forgot to take a picture of the food! The service is so unique and amazing! The sushi was delish and so fresh! If you have never been to a place like this and you like sushi, you must go!! First you are seated and explained how the service works. You can either pick your items of the conveyor belt or there's a tablet at each table and you can order off the menu and the food is delivered to your table as you order! You can eat as much or as little as you want! It's pretty easy to go crazy because the portions are 2-3 pieces at a time and it's so fun you just want to keep eating! If you need anything like napkin, chop sticks, fork, just call the server from the tablet aka someone will come over. The coolest thing was at the end the server comes over and just scans the plates. She explained that all plates have a sensor so she just needs to scan and then can tell you the total! This place was so fun and unique and of course the sushi did not disappoint!! If you are looking for a fun atmosphere, a unique dining experience and you love sushi,, this is the place for you!!

Takoyaki. $5.50

Conveyor belt for sushi to take right off...but most of our order was made-to-order from the tablet. We ordered: - Takoyaki. $5.50 very good! - Grilled Cheese Mussels. $6.75 amazing! - Tempura Shrimp Udon. $15 pretty standard - Tonkatsu Ramen. $15 pretty standard - Crab Handroll. $3.50 very good - Spicy Tuna Handroll. $4.75 very good - Spicy Salmon Handroll. $4.75 very good - Salmon Crab Roll. $8.75 delicious - Montblanc Roll. $5.50 a little dry Excellent service and ambiance! They've been open for 2 years -- inside looks nicer than the outside. They stack up the plates and the scanner knows how much each plate costs, between $3.50 - $9.50 each. You can order additional dishes off the tablet and even use it to call your server and request additional water.

04/2024 I was surprised to see a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in DC, so I had to try it. This place definitely reminded me of the conveyor belt sushi places in Japan in terms of ambiance and the way the dishes were offered. Tried quite a few of their dishes and you definitely want to stick to the pricier options. The cheaper options were not worth it. My favorite were the scallop and the torched nigiri.

Emily H.

Super fun conveyor belt sushi experience - you can't always tell what exactly everything offered is, but they have images of various rolls on the tablet on your table for reference. If there's anything specific you want to order, you can also order that from your table and the chef will bring it to you. Relatively expensive for what it is, but reasonable/expected for the area. The color of the plate indicates the price of the item and you stack them on your table to add up at the end of the meal. Overall fun experience! Would love additional sake/drink options as those are limited

I have only been to one other conveyor belt sushi spot and wanted to find a similar experience. We ordered a wide variety of things and I was pretty impressed! I know conveyor belt quality is typically not great, but I would say quality was decent and better than expected. My favorite bites were the Ama Ebi, Torched Salmon and the Yellowtail! Decent conveyor belt sushi that is definitely on the pricer side.

Horrific. Rice was dry and Tonkotsu Ramen was too soft. The chef doesn't know how to serve Sushi.

I'm just glad she made dinner reservations because it does get super busy. We still had to wait a while even with reservations but it wasn't crazy long thankfully. We had a pretty decent booth location close to the start of the rotating sushi belt. I'm glad, my friend is a pro at this so she was able to give us direction with the flow of things. They charge by the plate and she recommended that we count our plates because for every 15 plates you get a "toy" that rolls out of the machine to your table. She donated some of her plates so I could experience the novelty, which I was very appreciative. The sushi is covered and rotates by and if you see something you like, you just push the button on the dome that says "push" and quickly take the plate with the sushi on it. It's best to stack your plates when you're done eating. Then when you're completely finished eating all you want, insert your plates one at a time into the slot to count how much you owe (which is located at the end of your table closest to the conveyor belt). If you don't see something on the conveyor belt you want, or desserts that specifically state "order", just press the buttons on the screen at your table above the conveyor belt. You order your drinks and drink refills this way as well. A robot comes to your table to bring you drinks. A person will come to your table with a check. If you have any issues just press a button on the screen and they will work to resolve any issues. Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience! I enjoyed the sushi and the desserts! I had a butter cake and a taiyaki which were both excellent!! The taiyaki you order on the screen.

The omakase counter is in a small, semi private area in the back of the restaurant. There's cloth backed screens that separate you from the normal dining room, but sound definitely can travel to and from the omakase counter from the main room. The vibe of the restaurant was definitely peaceful though, so this was not a problem at all. The food was top tier. We've had Sushi Nakazawa before, and felt that we enjoyed both experiences equally. We could not definitively say which was better! It started with a few prepared dishes, then we moved onto the sashimi portion of the meal. The chef brought out large boxes of fresh fish which we were able to look through and pick out our favorites. We only picked 3 or 4 which we were interested in, and had the chef pick for us for the rest of the portion of the meal. Every bite was delicious. The sashimi was not just plain sliced meat, there were sauces and dressings applied to each one that complimented the meat perfectly. After sashimi, we moved onto the next portion of the meal which featured a few more small dishes, including some a5 Wagyu. This was followed by the nigiri. Similar to the sashimi, the boxes were brought out again and we were able to provide input into what we were interested in eating. Of course, we followed asked and followed the chef's recommendations other than calling out our favorites. By the end of this part of the meal, we were absolutely stuffed and were so pleased with our experience. Sitting at the counter was also an awesome experience. Watching the chef create food right in front of us was mesmerizing and being able to interact with him directly was something that I was surprised to enjoy. You definitely won't feel pressured to do so if you'd rather sit and enjoy yourselves.
