Hard to believe this is my first Yelp review as I've been to Passion Fin several times over the years. The food is always good, especially the sushi, and the service is pleasant and attentive. I've dined here a few times recently and was consistently surprised by the quality of service. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable, but not overbearing. While you can't call the same day to make a reservation, they do put you on a waitlist to decrease your wait time. There's a cute koi pond in the entryway, which is always fun for kids. Sitting at the sushi counter is a lot of fun, especially on a date. The dining room area is clean and not overly clustered. In regard to the food, this is not just a Japanese restaurant as one may assume. There is a strong Thai influence, which makes the menu a bit more diverse. I enjoy the pork gyoza for an appetizer. While it is fried, it's not overly oily and the dipping sauce is tasty. The sushi has always been fresh, thick and tightly rolled. Passion Fin has become my go to sushi spot. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. My first experience was dining in with a friend. The inside is fairly small so it gets crowded quickly. We had a reservation and waited maybe 5 minutes for a table. It was cold out and we were seated at a table in front of the bar so it was a little chilly. Service was fairly quick and we each ordered a drink from the bar; we were not impressed as the drinks were weak. We were; however, impressed with the sushi! I had the redskin roll while my friend had a different specialty roll and one of the sunshine rolls. We both enjoyed our meals and I left no crumbs! I've been back about three times since for takeout and while I've tried a few other basic rolls and apps, I always get the redskin roll! read more

I was in the area for my kids soccer tournament and we were in the mood for some sushi/Asian fusion. I saw the nice review so we gave it a try. I gave a 1 just because the service was good, the food came on time, and the ambiance was nice with lots of people. As far as the food I ordered Don't stir fried, sushi, and shrimp pad thai. The place was hopping on a Tuesday night, and the staff was hustling to support. The staff is focused and warm, they help make the place special. The sushi chefs are skilled and efficient minimizing wait times for customers. The atmosphere is nice, a little tight in certain places and when busy, like last night, can be loud. Having that said our party could hear each other well and we were not picking up the neighboring tables' conversations. When it simmers down a bit you can hear the lovely sounds of Bob Marley playing in the background. Passion Fin is our favorite sushi restaurant in Ashburn/Loudoun County. I ordered the Roti Canai to start along with the Salmon Skin and Spider Rolls (along with two others but I forgot the names). The Roti Canai was solid, no complaints and everyone at the table seemed to like it too. All the sushi rolls were good, and were pretty large. I've never had the spicy edamame before but it had a nice sauce on it! The place is pretty crowded a bit after 5pm and they must have approximately 10 to-go orders packed in front...great sign. We get a table for 2 and take a look at the menu. Standard Japanese fare/choices but they do have hibachi if you aren't into sushi so good to have options. The wife orders 2 rolls and I go with my standby - the chirashi. You get soup or salad (not both) and I go with the salad. I like the ginger dressing and they are not chintzy with the dressing which is a good thing. Our dinner comes out and the rolls are good. Nothing to jump up & down about but solid. The Chirashi is a bit disappointing- they give you a good amount of sashimi on top of rice but the rice isn't seasoned. Tastes like plain white rice. Also, there are no pickled veggies which is typically provided with Chirashi. Definitely had better, more authentic versions of Chirashi. I suppose Passion Fin is pretty good considering you are in the middle of the 'burbs in Virginia. Comparing it to other Japanese sushi joints it comes up a bit short. 3.5 stars is where I land. read more

The place was super packed, very loud, and had even louder music playing, making it very hard to carry on a conversation without shouting.
