Love the sushi especially the firecracker roll which is one of their specialty rolls. My son loved the chicken katsu as well. Service is quick and to the point. The restaurant is clean and neat. This restaurant was recommended to us by one of our friends and glad we got to try it at last.

The udon noodles were chewy and fresh. Broth was rich and so comforting. It had the right amount of saltiness and umami. Perfect meal after a long day. Staff was kind and made sure everything was good.

I've been coming here for about a year now since I first tried Akira, & now it's a staple in my sushi restaurant rotation's. The service is always friendly & welcoming. The staff are very respectful & helpful. I usually always eat here at 5pm when they open, so I beat any dinner rushes; so it's never crowded or loud. 5/5 sushi restaurant!

The food is good and nice service.

Solid sushi option in Ashburn. The fish was fresh, and they have a decent sake selection. The decor is cute for a strip mall restaurant, and the servers are friendly.

Excellent sushi and great service. We enjoyed the sushi boat with a lot of delicious and gorgeous sushi! Make sure to order a Sapporo!

My husband and I eat dinner here, and it has the best sashimi and sushi. We have been to more expensive restaurants in Ashburn and Falls Church, and we prefer the taste, quality, and service at Akira. We share edamame, sashimi regular, and a couple of rolls. I love the Alaskan roll and the Akira Moonlight. My husband has tried several of their rolls, and they're all delicious. The staff always offer a warm welcome when we arrive, and they are extremely attentive and caring.

What a great place for sushi in Ashburn!!! Service was excellent, courteous, welcoming, and attentive. The chef also greeted and acknowledged when guests arrived or leaving. Restaurant was clean, perfect lighting with appropriate decor to highlight the cultural aspect! My standard for sushi is high, and Akira did show quality fresh fish and seafood. We ordered Akira Sunlight, Vegas rolls and Yellowtail nigiri. For appetizers, we enjoyed the salad and miso soups on the house. We also enjoyed the calamari and seaweed salad. All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience and the food was fresh! Will definitely come back for more...

Rating ***** An experience I'd always remember **** I am coming back *** I'd be willing to come back ** Wouldn't recommend anyone * Disastrous experience/restaurant *** Next time I'm in Ashburn I'd come in and try the sashimi Akira Sushi Bistro is a sushi restaurant for people who want a variety of choices for their rolls. Known for its fresh sushi and various choices for specialty rolls, I stopped into the restaurant as I tried to find a nice lunch spot to sit down and eat. Inside you'll be surrounded by wooden finished furniture with neutral tones, warm overhead lights, and mostly seating for tables for 4 and more. I agree with the other reviews about the wide range of rolls as they had specialty rolls on a board as well as a separate special menu. I ended up settling on the yakitori to try their appetizers and ordered the specialty winter fire roll. First, the yakitori, which sat in a bed of teriyaki sauce, was tough as I had to make a decent effort to chew the pieces. The pepper and onions were nicely grilled being tender with light char on the sides. Next was the Winter Fire which I had high hopes for as it contained salmon and white tuna, my two favorite types of fish. Although the fish was fresh the Winter Fire was more like a Winter Dessert as the kewpie mayo in the roll overpowered the natural smoky and savory flavor of the white tuna and seared salmon that makes this roll so good. My advice is to switch out the sauce. Although I left my trip to Akira slightly disappointed with the rolls, I'm still optimistic about coming and trying the sashimi, perhaps with a couple of friends.

The takoyaki has a creamy and sweet flavor that bursts in your mouth. The sushi rolls and high quality and scrumptious. Service was fast, polite and the interior decorations are beautiful.

    Sushi Deluxe and Paradise roll

Fresh and tasty sushi. Large assortment of interesting sushi rolls. Quick service for a Saturday lunchtime crowd. Very reasonable and competitive prices. This was my first visit. I had a sushi deluxe combination and a specialty Paradise roll. Everything wonderfully fresh and full of flavor! I will be back.

It was the first time my young kids had been to a hibachi, and they loved it. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. They had it decorated beautifully. The waitress came to check on us twice in the beginning and after our food arrived we never saw her again. It was not until 20 or 25minutes later that another waitress came by to check on us. Not sure what the hang up was as the restaurant was mostly empty. The side of noodles was weird. I was expecting asian flavors, but we got spaghetti dunked in soy sauce and covered with black pepper. This was also on the kids menu as well, my son could barely eat it due to how spicy it was. My other kid got a Ramen bowl and that was essentially the same noodles as above in a pool of chicken broth that tasted like it was dumped out of a box. It was very bad. Usually when we go to Noku in the Village, my kid devours the Ramen bowl, but this one was left untouched. The maki rolls were OK, but pricy and not worth their value. The rainbow roll, I believe, only had 4 pieces. Also, the pieces of fish on top of the rainbow were very small and underwhelming. The fact that it cost more than our usual sushi places added insult to injury. The Philli roll was more cream cheese than salmon. Finally, some minor issues that demonstrate that the staff doesnt really care: the waitress poured the beer so fast that it was 90%head, and she just moved on; and, when our sushi tray came out the wasabi and ginger were missing. In my 15+ years of eating sushi in all types of places, all over America i have never had a situation where the ginger and wasabi were left out. This was not a major issue for me as mistake happen, no big deal. However, given the poor experience this did not help the matter.

Spicy Chicken Miso Ramen Dinner as I came at 3 PM which was a little after the dinner hours. It was pretty good. Came with bamboo shoots, seaweed, and boiled egg and the spicy chili sauce on the side. I asked for it on side as I wanted to experience the taste w/o spice and then add it myself if needed. Overall, it was pretty tasty. Nothing outstanding, but maybe my taste buds weren't functioning. It was not bad overall, and was filling as I hadn't a proper breakfast even. I would rate it 7/10. Not bad, and the cost for dine-in was a little over $20, which wasn't bad but not cheap either. For the service, I'll give it a pass. Overall, impressed with this Japanese restaurant and hopefully will be back to try something else on the menu, if I find myself in the One Loudoun area again.

However, they do a good takeout business, as we noticed several people come in to pick up their orders. Before coming here, we looked at their menu. Thus, we knew what we wanted when we got here. Service was great. The staff here is friendly and efficient. Our server checked on us more than once during our meal. To drink, my husband ordered a Kirin Light beer while I ordered a glass of plum wine. Some Japanese places fill the glass too high, but here, the portion size was reasonable. I ordered "the poke bowl". I chose salmon for my fish. This bowl consists of "Sushi-grade fish topped with vegetables, mixed with poke sauce over a choice of mixed greens or rice". I chose the rice. Before coming here, I looked up "poke sauce." I found a website called "pokebowlny.com." This is the description they gave: "traditional poke sauce blends soy sauce, sesame oil, and often rice vinegar, along with aromatics like garlic and ginger. This classic combination makes the fish taste fresher, the vegetables more vibrant, and the rice more flavorful." The vegetables in the bowl were kernel corn, seaweed salad, and cucumbers. I really enjoyed having this meal! All the flavors worked well together. I look forward to having it again. Along with the poke bowl, a bowl of miso soup is included. That, too, was quite good, and it came to the table quite warm. My husband ordered "Tuna Don," which consists of "fresh tuna sashimi over rice & vegetables. His entrée came with both miso soup and a small side salad. The bowl had a big slice of radish, some seaweed salad, and the usual shredded daikon. The wasabi was really spicy - he could feel it in his nose and sinus cavity - it'll take your head off. The generous portion of tuna was large with thicker slices than he'd ever seen before.
