Trying another neighborhood spot that we always pass by. They have a decent size menu with lots of Japanese classics like sushi, curry and various noodle dishes. We started with one of their signature rolls that had a good amount of decent quality fish. The curry was also slight different than other places as it was not as thick and even had mushrooms. This made for a much milder curry flavor. Not bad, but definitely different. The soba was probably my favorite thing! The noodles had nice chewy texture and served with a refreshing dipping sauce and tempura to chase each bite. Not the best Japanese food I've had, but a decent neighborhood spot. Ordered dinner from here on Uber eats on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I felt like the pricing was pretty fair and I really like how they packaged the sushi for delivery. Came here tonight with my family and we tried various type of dishes. We enjoyed them all! They were well prepared, looked appetizing, and tasted good. The service was pleasant, courteous and prompt. They came by to refill our tea and water before they were completely empty. We appreciated the better quality chopsticks to eat our sushi with. It's also located in a convenient location too. Was in the area and decided to stop in for lunch. They have a great variety of lunch specials. We got a bento box and a couple sushi rolls. We started with edamame and gyoza and our bento boxes came with miso soup. The gyoza was the fried version, I preferred steamed/pan seared but they don't make it that way. It was still pretty good and flavor. I really enjoyed the chicken bento box! The teriyaki sauce for the chicken was great. It came with shrimp/veggie tempura and a couple California roll pieces. We also had an eel avocado roll which was good. We decided to try the Hawaiian sunset roll, which was salmon and pineapple with some crunch. It was not good. Upon hearing there were managerial changes, I gave Tsunami another shot and I was not impressed. Food wise, 2.5/5. There was still a bit of skin on my salmon, the tuna on top of the volcano was just not good, the crunch tasted stale, and my nigiri was simply sub par. Nothing tasted fresh, even the miso soup felt off. What keeps my rating at a 1 star is not food related. I ordered through their website, checked out, and then was charged an additional 2 times for $0.50 and $3. I had already agreed to $71.43, that is the price I agreed to, it is scummy to try to pull one over on me and charge me extra money after I've paid. I understand that add ons are extra, but that should be included on the checkout price. When I called to address this, I ended up getting the refund but the tone I received was very condescending. Sushi here are reasonably priced! They have a lot of different roles to pick from and they have combo rolls where you can get 2-3 rollls for a set price. Their menu not only consist of sushi but other items like hibachi, ramen, Katsu, fried rice, etc so definitely a good place for people with different taste! I wouldn't say there are anything special about the sushi -- standard like other ones in the area. I came here on Valentine's Day and unfortunately they were so busy i waited 1hr+ to get my sushi... which is a bummer because i was starving. The ladies tried their best to seat everyone and get all take out / online orders packaged and ready so definitely feel for these ladies on a busy holiday. So recommend to not come here of Valentine's Day unless you're okay with waiting for a bit. This is located in a shopping center so has plenty of parking! When coming in I didn't know what to expect. The place was decently packed the couple of times I walked past but it was empty last night. I walked in with a friend and we ordered the takoyaki, toro maki, and the chicken hibachi. The takoyaki was a bit pricey and $7 for 6 pieces. It was lukewarm and all the pieces were mostly filling. The toro maki came out and it was icy and not properly brought to room temperature as sushi should be. Finally, the chicken hibachi came out very pale and dry. The chicken looked like it had just been boiled and had no flavor. We had to soak it in soy sauce before event attempting to eat it. With those 3 dishes, it came out to over $50 which was a bit wild considering the quality. The service was slow considering there were at least 4 servers and the restaurant was empty. I would probably not come back again as the sushi in H-Mart is more worth it. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to place a pickup order today as it is Mother's Day and would likely be busy (it was). I arrived at the restaurant and was first in line to collect my order. An employee approached me and asked the couple behind me for the amount in their party. They politely pointed to me as I was ahead of them, but the employee waved her hand at me as if I was inconsequential. I didn't think anything of it in the moment. She showed the couple to their table. I continued to wait. After 5 minutes or so, the employee returned to the front of the restaurant and stepped behind the counter and didn't acknowledge me. When she looked up, I said "hi I am picking up" to which she replied rudely "name?" After receiving the name of our order, she went to the table, identified the package, and passed it off to me as if I should have known where it was. At first I didn't think anything of this - it's a busy holiday and I know folks are stressed. But in context, and with consideration to all the mannerisms I can't properly describe here that the employee made towards me, I realized that she was treating me like a food delivery worker. Which prompted my review - is this how you treat Uber Eats drivers? It was all very rude. I understand Tsunami is under new management (saw in Northern Virginia Foodies - wishing a genuine congratulations to the new owners). But please ensure that new employees are not rude to people - even if I was a delivery driver, I did not deserve that rudeness and disregard. Plenty of people do not tip when they place pickup orders - I do, and I regret doing so because I received only rudeness back. read more

Had an excellent time at Tsunami Sushi this past weekend. We are vegetarians so always a little wary trying out new Korean/Japanese places because even if dishes are vegetarian they have the smell of seafood ingrained in them, when restaurants use the same oil, knives etc.. Kudos to Tsunami in that aspect. We had the Vegge roll platter and the Super Veggie maki roll platter. Everything was fresh, smelt and tasted of veggies. Even the seaweed wrap was impeccably done with no unwanted aromas in it. Definitely going to be back for more. Loved their cream cheese deep fried dumplings too.
