From the moment we arrived everyone told us happy anniversary! When we arrived to our table, we had a hand written card. Our server, August took amazing care of us and the manager Corey was so friendly and personable coming to speak with us. The food was crafted in such an artistic way, combining the most devine ingredients with both flavor and texture! It was truly an art form in our mouth! The caviar, sushi, and oysters were the best we've ever had! The setting was modern and tasteful! Truly, one of the best dining experiences we have ever had! We plan to return every time we are in the area shopping!!

Had an exceptional omakase experience for Mother's Day. From the moment we walked in, the service was polished, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling pretentious. We tried the Chef's tasting menu. Every course was beautifully presented and thoughtfully paced, allowing the quality of the ingredients to truly shine. The fish was incredibly fresh, the flavors were refined and balanced, and the craftsmanship behind each bite felt worthy of a Michelin-level dining experience. The attention to detail -- from the sushi rice to the premium cuts and elegant plating -- showed a level of care that's hard to find outside of major culinary cities. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern luxury and intimate omakase tradition, making it ideal for a special night out. The staff's knowledge, professionalism, and passion elevated the entire evening. Modan is easily one of the most impressive Japanese dining experiences in Northern Virginia and a true gem for sushi and omakase lovers.

Wow. What a very high-end restaurant! I love the vibe and design of the restaurant. Deff a spot where wearing pajamas or gym clothes is not suggested. lol. Loved our waiter, he was very entertaining and gave us a great experience. We did the Modan Tasting Experience (Six Course Meal*). My apologies for not taking note on what is each dish, but we enjoyed the meals. We still had room for more food, so if you have a big appetite, just keep in mind this will not fill you. lol. So many options to choose from! I really enjoyed their sushi so I would definitely come back to eat their sushi. I would recommend this spot!

Pricey cocktails and wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu. The happy hour promptly ended at 6:30pm (Mon - Fri 5-6:30pm). I ordered a couple of cocktails off the menu - Lychee Martini was very boozy and didn't have much flavor. The Flor de Cana Pineapple Mojito is interestingly on happy hour, but not on the main cocktail menu. It was okay and not that flavorful. Honestly, I wouldn't mind shelling out $20+ cocktail if it packed a punch with flavor and well-balanced. These cocktails didn't measure up. The Cauliflower Taco was truly bite-size and was the teeny tiniest taco I've ever seen. I wasn't a big fan of the flavor, so I was glad that it was gone within 2 bites. After spending $60+ on 2 drinks and tiny taco, I was ready to go home disappointed. Our server was friendly. Maybe I didn't order the right drinks? I might come back to try another round of drinks, but not sure if I'm willing to dish out another $20+ cocktail.

This is my new favorite happy hour in Tysons. We came for ladies night and had a blast!!!! The restaurant is modern and clean, beautiful high windows and vibes are great. I was genuinely impressed with the service, professional bartenders, attentive servers, it was a smooth operation. They always offered something and checked on us attentively. The quality of the food and drinks are impressive too. Matching with everything else about this restaurant. I really recommend the tiger punch but you can't go wrong with anything. The minor inconvenience is parking, they validate for 90 minutes but we spent much longer here. Despite this, I cannot wait to come back.

Even though I popped into Modan late in their lunch shift, the staff was welcoming and incredibly kind. The lunch special has three courses for $30. I started with yellowtail sashimi and jalapeño. It was fresh and crisp. For my main, I had their Pink Lady roll, and the flavors blended perfectly. To conclude, I chose the affogato. This seemed like an odd menu item in a Japanese restaurant, but it worked well. While on the pricier side, the cost was well worth it.

This is a very end Japanese restaurant in Tyson's corner. It was recommended by our cousin and we decided to give it a try for my husband's birthday. We love the Wren, which is another high end Japanese place is Tyson's. So we're super excited to try this one. If you are a non-vegetarian, you have plenty of delicious options. However, as a vegetarian, the options are there but limited. Here is what I ordered: - Edamame: got the non spicy version and it was good. - Cauliflower: this was too bland for my liking. Didn't enjoy it that much. - Veggie Sushi: this was quite good. It had a good blend of veggies in there. - For dessert, we got the creme brulee and absolutely loved it. The service was excellent at this restaurant. Our service was superb and made sure we were always taken care of. The ambiance is super cozy too. I would love to try their fried rice next time. I feel that Wren has more veggie options, but I still recommend this place for vegetarians. Give it a try.

Very disappointing experience at Modan. The prices suggest a premium dining experience, but the food simply didn't deliver. The biggest letdown was the Wagyu dumplings. For the price, they felt like a complete rip-off. The filling was underwhelming, lacked any real Wagyu flavor, and the dish was nowhere near worth what was charged. Overall, the quality of the food did not justify the high price point. I've had much better sushi and Japanese food elsewhere for significantly less money. The presentation was decent, but taste is what matters, and this meal fell far short of expectations. I don't mind paying premium prices when the food is exceptional. Unfortunately, this felt overpriced, overrated, and not worth a return visit.

Amazing ambiance and service! The restaurant itself is beautiful, great vibes for a date or special occasion. However, the Japanese food was decent, not the best, didn't taste authentic, but more like americanized Japanese fare. You don't get a good bang for your buck either, as portion sizes are small. The chicken karaage is usually my favorite appetizer to order at Japanese restaurants, but the portion sizes here much too small, and the karaage did have a good crisp to it. But they do give a considerable amount of dipping sauce to go with it. The miso soup also had a watered down taste, the miso flavor was not as strong or bold, although I did like the tofu pieces in the soup! The positives were definitely their cocktails and desserts, I enjoyed the Tanuki Tail cocktail and their Yuzu sorbet and Matcha Cheesecake! I would mostly just come back just for their bar, dessert, and overall vibes.

The food was decent but the timing of the arrival of the plates were abysmal. First off, they messed up my drink order, said they were going to fix it but never did until I brought it up again. We were a party of 4 and essentially 3 out of the 4 had to sit and watch while the 1 meal came out. The meals arrived one at a time. 1 person would eat their meal while the other 3 watched. Then another person's meal would arrive and the 3 would watch them eat. For the price point of the restaurant it was a really bizarre dinner service. This alone is enough for me to not recommend or return for another visit, which is disappointing because i felt like there was high potential.

Very good sushi place in a nice location. The bathrooms are very photo ready . The aesthetic is very nice and decorated modern. The music is also great won't put you to sleep. On the weekends it tends to be busy but the hosts, bartenders, and servers are great. I dined in a couple of times and it never disappoints . The drinks are good and the sushi is delicious.

Food was delicious but service is very poor. I felt as if this is a Yakuza run business.

I had a reservation on May 22 at 7:30 PM, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing on several fronts. The food was delicious but poor service overshadowed my first visit to your restaurant. First, when I ordered sushi, the waiter asked if I wanted fresh wasabi. I said yes, assuming (like most customers would) that wasabi comes with sushi at no extra charge. At no point did he mention that this was a $12 add-on charge nor was it clearly listed on the menu. When I received the bill, I was surprised to see such a high charge for a very small portion. If this is a premium item, it should be clearly explained--otherwise it feels misleading. To make matters worse, I didn't even consume it. Another staff member cleared the table immediately after I finished my sushi and removed the wasabi altogether, yet I was still charged. Overall service was lacked quality as well. My partner ordered white rice with his filet mignon, but it didn't arrive until we had to ask again--by that time, he had almost finished his steak. The waiter didn't even apologize for the delay. Between the lack of price transparency, premature clearing of dishes, and inattentive service, the experience fell well below expectations. As a first-time customer, my experience was both frustrating and extremely disappointing. I hope the restaurant improves staff training, particularly around explaining additional charges and basic service etiquette. At a minimum, I am requesting a refund of the wasabi charge and an opportunity to discuss this situation further.

Stopped by with a friend on a Sunday night with reservations. I don't think reservations were necessary though because it was pretty empty. This is not to say the food is bad but the restaurant is very hard to find! It's hidden at the back side of the Heming apartment building. We ordered a lot of food and everything was super tasty. I liked how all the flavors were not too aggressive and complemented each other very well. The presentation of the desserts was crazy too! The server explained all our menu items thoroughly and guided us through the selection process. I would recommend for a girls night out or a date night. It has a calm moody elegant vibe. Will definitely be back!

I will say the restaurant is elegant and beautiful, and the food was savory and sweet just amazing, but it is the staff who went above and beyond to make the high tea memorable. This is my third bridal shower. I have given at the Ritz Carlton in Tyson's corner, and I would go no other place. Let me start out by mentioning a few exceptional people. I started planning this in the beginning of the year and Sriram Hariharan is one of the most giving, caring and supportive person I know. He put me in touch with all the right resources. He would follow up to see how things are going. I would say his detail to customer service and experience is exceptional. Next is Rohit Ray who assisted every step of the way helping me with my attendee numbers , the set up design and more. He was there throughout the whole party. Rohit's kindness and grace that is unwavering. Finally, our server Astrid. She oversaw my last shower in January and I know we were in good hands when I saw her last Saturday. she is truly A+. She made sure the event went smoothly. Having grown up with fine Vietnamese cuisine thanks to Bethesda's Green Papaya, my dining companion and I had felt over a decade of void (of exceptional Viet cuisine, in general) since its closing nearly 14.5 years ago. Recommended to us by one of our students who volunteers as a community organizer for Eden Center and other Vietnamese-owned small businesses, NUE with its incredible first impression has us beyond thrilled to have found a spiritual successor to our dear Green Papaya (albeit a bit more modern in style and even fancier). Since it was our first time visiting the Founder's Row mall, it took us a moment to get our bearings (the biggest parking entrance is on the southern side of the development but there are elevators that lead to the main area further northwest along Broad Street (including NUE, Ellie Bird, and Fish Taco) as well as the QR Code-based parking system. After scanning the QR code for parking, it was not too difficult to utilize it (NUE provides a code for 2 hours validated parking). Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by our server Joshua, who took great care of us throughout our celebration lunch and is very knowledgeable about the food as well as the restaurant group. Also, kudos Kyung at NUE's parent group (Happy Endings Hospitality) for acting super promptly (just over an hour later on a Saturday!) to an query I came across regarding their membership rewards. As for the restaurant's ambiance, it is decorated with a beautiful mural and the artistic direction reflective of Co-Owner Tuyet Nhi Le's heritage (her grandfather who was a famous painter). Upon sitting down and being served our requested hot water+lemons, we could notice the attention to little details (metal chopstick holder, bamboo lids atop our hot water glass, and later, the onyx-handled knife for the Fried Fluke). Speaking of the fish, our favorite celebration entree at Green Papaya was a Fried Flounder, and wouldn't you know it, one of NEV's "Iconic & Shareable" entrees is their Whole Fried Fluke with a bouquet of Fresh Herbs, Rice Noodle Rolls, and Pineapple Nước Chấm! This alone got us to slog through I-495 traffic across the river (congested even on a weekend for lunch!). In addition to the quality of ingredients (fish and herbs), Executive Chef Daniel Lê's thoughtful touches really stand out. For the fish, he debones the fluke's central bone while retaining its structure to make nearly the entire fish edible. As for the execution, the fish was prepared with optimal salinity, a delicate hand to let the innate flavors stand out, and superb texture (especially loved the crunchy dorsal fins, collar, and tail fin that were easy to eat completely). The abundance of fresh mint, Thai Basil, cilantro, and red leaf lettuce added a refreshing contrast together with the dynamic dipping sauce (slightly viscous to cling to the rice noodles and herbs), plump limes, and savory toppings (fried garlic-peanuts & fried scallion+oil). At $98, it represented a good value as the outstanding quality was matched by generous portion, satisfying both of our appetites (we purposefully ate very light yesterday) and left us with just enough room for dessert. To conclude our absolutely delectable meal were the Tropical Chè (~fruit parfait with coconut milk tapioca pudding, pineapple-mango-passion fruit sorbet, Thai Basil Seeds, mango, lychees) and the birthday treat of Fried Sweet Yuca with Salted Caramel Ice Cream and Waffle Feuilletine. The duo offered a lovely contrast of temperature (former being ~ fancy Halo Halo, latter being warm and comforting ~more substantial Mochi Donut-meets-steak cut fries), textures (tender, crunchy, QQ, and crisp) and flavors (floral, fruity, neutral-savory, salty)! To top it off, they included a Birthday Card featuring their signature artwork and a generous gift to welcome us back for our next visit! All in all, NUE is what we had been starving for the nearly past 15 years: a fine Viet restaurant that delivers fantastic food; warm, attentive, and welcoming service; classy ambiance for a special occasions, entertaining VIP guests, or just a fancy meal to treat yourself! With Joy by Seven Reasons having closed earlier this year, we had lost a dear favorite that starred fancy Fried Fish (Dorade) in a tropical culinary backdrop (Pan-Latin). NUE also fills that void. Now, if only NUE open a second location in the Bethesda-Rockville area like Joy!

Kindred Cafe demonstrates exactly how simple breakfast items should be prepared. I stopped in for a…read moremid-morning weekday breakfast and ordered the veggie egg scramble with toast and potatoes, alongside an oat milk vanilla latte. While a scramble sounds simple on paper, it is easy to overcook the vegetables. This one was executed perfectly, with every vegetable done just right. The thin-sliced potatoes were highly seasoned and stood out, moving away from the standard, heavy breakfast spuds you get at most places. The presentation across the board was excellent. The latte arrived with a nice touch--a small side cookie and a club soda to cleanse the palate, which shows a level of intentionality you don't always find. The staff members were incredibly friendly and gracious from start to finish. With fast Wi-Fi and a comfortable environment, it is an ideal spot to get some quality laptop time. It's a great addition to the local lineup.

We were told we could sit at the bar or outside, but when we asked for one of the open tables, we were denied because they were "reserved for parties of three." That just doesn't make sense. We're still paying customers, ready to order food and drinks. Denying service like that--especially with empty tables in plain sight--feels unnecessary and rigid. I even asked twice, hoping for a little flexibility, but the answer didn't change. I work in the service industry, and this is exactly the kind of situation where you make an exception or use some common sense. Instead, it felt like policy over hospitality. Really disappointing experience for a place I was excited to try.
