We came here for a date night, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The service was exceptional--attentive without being intrusive--and the ambiance felt elevated, making it a great setting for a night out. The food and drinks were both good, with everything well-prepared and satisfying. That said, nothing quite stood out as unforgettable. It was a solid meal, but not one that felt especially unique compared to similar restaurants. Without a standout dish, it's hard to rank it higher--but still a great choice for a polished, easy evening.
Love this place! Celebrated my anniversary with my husband here on a weeknight. Service was awesome and we loved our server Aisha. The decor is sexy and sheek. Every single dish we ordered had such amazing flavor and the texture is perfect. I expected to spend much more but the price is great for the experience and the incredible food. I can't wait to come back!
A dining experience to remember... if you have a special day to celebrate with your loved one or close friend. The dining experience and the omakase experience will be very different. I'll speak to the omakase experience. Right off the back, you get led into a special elevator into the workout room. Found it strange that there is no one working out... then you're led into the sauna room... the speakeasy entrance to a whole new world. The chef is thoughtful and attentive to every detail and what is fresh and especially the temperature and texture/firmness of the sushi rice. Every bite offered is beautifully created and the wasabi is ground right before your eyes. But you. Expect that at this level of sushi. The attention to detail and even the sake pairings offered by the waiter is spot on. The crisp, fruity, refreshing sake pairs perfectly with the umami and subtly sweet bite of every course. You must take a bite of ginger and cleanse your palate with sparkling water before your next course. If you have an anniversary or a birthday celebration with a loved one, come to one of the best experiences you'll have in the NOVA area.
Interesting Asian spot in a hotel, cool vibes but also could be a work dinner spot. Needed a reservation to get a table so sat at the bar. Fried chicken had a nice kick and crunch. Sushi was small portions and pricey but tasted super fresh. Some very special ingredients that elevate cocktails I've never seen before.
Came here with a couple friends, I had the wagyu burger and it was excellent, the bread had a perfect crunch/texture and the meat was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the fries immensely :) their cocktails were also delicious l. We sat at the bar so service was quick and everyone was very attentive and friendly. Nice views as well.
Quite an impressive space with lounge area and very expansive dining area. The menu was not as extensive as it could be and the selection was tasty. I just wished there were more to the menu and a larger print menu. The drinks were half the menu and the large bar area definitely was very busy as the night went on. The Omakase dinner is on a different floor and only available during certain times. We chose the Izakaya hand picked menu which is chosen by the chef and changes daily. The choices were really good and the portions were enough. We enjoyed not having to pick and choose and loved the surprise element of this. We enjoyed the evening and liked the vibe of the dinning area, especially the views.
During winter restaurant week, I tried the $55 option, which consisted of 4 courses. Complimentary: edamame Starter 1 : Hamachi crudo was 7/10. The radish and pickled onion didn't add anything to the dish. I also didn't get any of the jalapeño flavor in the soy sauce. Starter 2: Tokyo Chicken was 10/10. There was so much food. Chicken was well cooked and not dry. The sauce was coated evenly and was sweet and rich. Main: Akebono roll was 8/10. I liked the torched salmon, but the sauce on the top didn't come through for me. Bonus Main: I tried my friend's wagyu burger, which we just couldn't tell if the meat was American or Japanese wagyu meat. But it was still juicy and tender Desserts: Bloody Mary was 10/10. The bitterness in the citrus was light and the texture of the ice cream was creamy. Date & Fig Sticky Toffee Pudding was 2/10. There were too many flavors going on. It was too sweet that I was drowning myself with water Service: Loved that they explained the menu in detail and kept checking i when we would like the next course. However, we had to request for more water couple of times & the Wagyu burger took a long time to come out. We did receive an apologize for that.q
Ambiance: beautiful modern vibes. Japan inspired foods and drinks Service: host/hostess greets you before you enter the bar/dining area. Our waiter was excellent and was attentive without being pushy. Food: we only had drinks before heading up to the Naisho room for another reservation. This is an upscale dining/bar experience. With that comes the price - it's up there so be prepared to pay a little premium. You pay for the ambiance and the vibe as well. I think the cocktails are decent but not outstanding. I would like more creativity to an Old Fashioned if I'm paying $23 a glass that looks 1/2 full even when it's neat...I know they can do it but would like to see a little more and I'll end coming here rather than hop next door to another bar.
This spot is a hidden gem located on the rooftop of Wegman's in Tyson's corner. You have to enter through the door labeled "The Perch" to gain access to the rooftop. Great for socializing after work. The atmosphere is relaxing and the ambiance is beautiful, they have a pool table available for use, and a few other games if I'm not mistaken. Drinks were cute, tasty as well. I didn't get any food, only drinks The bartenders were professional and very knowledgeable.. I believe it may be connected to a hotel, however I entered through the rooftop.
Had a really enjoyable night at Wren in Tysons. We did the omakase, which takes place inside their speakeasy that is accessed through a sauna in the fitness center. It gave the evening a low-key, secretive vibe that was fun without being over the top. The bar setup was relaxed and set the right tone for the meal. The sushi leaned traditional: clean cuts, minimal garnishes, and really fresh fish. Favorites for me were the shima aji and kin madai, but everything was solid across the board. After the omakase, we ordered temaki, which came with a film to keep the nori crisp until you ate it. That little detail gave me some nostalgic Tokyo conbini onigiri vibes. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until you experience it and realize how much it helps. Dessert was a pleasant surprise: the hojicha pudding with genmaicha tea was simple but hit the mark, especially if you're a green tea fan. We weren't quite done after dessert, so we ordered a few more things off the speakeasy menu. The Yo San mocktail was especially good, not overly sweet and had complexity to it. Also appreciated that the staff offered top-offs of pairings we liked, which was a nice, low-key touch. Overall, it was a well-executed, chill experience with good food, thoughtful details, and a setting that made the night feel a little different in a good way. The staff was very friendly and helpful taking time to clearly explain every dish and answer any questions you may have about it.
I came here to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Our server was rude, passive-aggressive, and inattentive throughout the night. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was just having a bad night, but the service never improved. We were also overcharged on our bill, which only added to the frustration. The most upsetting part was how my birthday cake was handled. I brought my own cake that I had already purchased myself, yet I was charged $40 just for the restaurant to cut it. I even told them I wanted to cut my own birthday cake, but they refused. They said the cake-cutting fee included soft serve for everyone with dessert, but when it came time to serve it, we didn't receive what was promised. We had to go back and forth with management just to receive half of the soft serve they originally said would be included. Overall, this was not the birthday experience I expected. Between the poor service, the billing issues, and the way my birthday celebration was handled, I left feeling disappointed. I hope management addresses these issues so future guests don't have the same experience.

Visited the Wren Tysons for dinner while on business travel. This restaurant is located inside the Watergate Hotel. It's very aesthetically appealing from the moment you walk in. It's very spacious inside, as it's adjacent to the hotel lobby, so there's a lot of foot traffic, but it wasn't overwhelming or distracting. I was still able to enjoy my dinner peacefully. I sat at the bar, and my server was very friendly and attentive to my needs. The kitchen was able to get my food out within a timely matter, and everything was very flavorful and fresh. I ordered the Tokyo chicken, which was a chopped up Japanese-style crispy fried chicken thigh, with a house tare, laid on a bed of a delicious cabbage slaw. I also ordered a side of fries, which were also delicious. The bartender made me a spiked "Little Birdie Told Me", typically a non-alcoholic gin, with blueberry lavender, yuzu, and lemonade. 10/10. I'd recommend this place for a solo dinner, date night, or night out with friends. You can't go wrong either way. read more
I would give this place a 3.5 stars! Service was great and gave me a cake for my birthday. I also liked the atmosphere of the restaurant where it felt nice/fancy but also relaxed/sociable if that makes sense. As for the food, it was ok. It wasn't terrible but nothing I would crave to go back to. I think the best item was probably the wagyu burger. I think the cost wasn't too big and the portions were nice. read more
Happy hour is still pricey. Why get a non alcoholic drink if it's only a few dollars less than with alcohol? It's also all canned lychee juice products. At least they've increased the portion size. Especially if the fried chicken. read more

TikTok brought me here and I'm not disappointed. The service was great. 4 out of 5 items that we ordered were good. The Tokyo Chicken was bomb! Will definitely order it again next time we come back. read more
This was my first time staying in the watermark and it was such a beautiful experience. The wren has a lovely open air layout with a big circular bar in the center of the hotel lobby on the 11th floor. Then there's lots of tables where you can also sit down and grab a bite, even late into the night. We came here on the first night and had some dinner, I tried the Wagyu steak rice as well as the brussels sprouts and the trouble sushi roll. The steak in the rice was delicious, cooked so well but a little oily. I couldn't taste the truffle that much in the sushi, but it was good, brussels sprouts were delicious. My friend ordered the fried chicken and was surprised and excited that it was gluten-free, she said it was delicious. The cocktails were amazing, the Tokyo girl was a winner. read more

The restaurant is located inside the Watermark Hotel, set in an open area just off the lobby rather than in an enclosed space. It's nicely designed, but you should expect to be seated in a more public setting with guests walking by and the hostess stand in the center of the lobby. It definitely has a different feel compared to a traditional, enclosed restaurant. The food was very good and arrived quickly, and our server was knowledgeable, though not particularly attentive. I had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary and asked if they could make it special. They acknowledged it with a note, but beyond that, the experience was fairly standard. Overall, it's worth trying if you're in the area, but be aware that parking can be a bit tricky. read more

100% recommend to try their restaurant week menu of summer 2025 - $55 for 2 appetizers, one main, and one dessert. The sushi rolls from the appetizers are full size! Service was amazing and everyone had leftovers. The restaurant is on the louder side because the bar is usually full of business folks from capital one, but that did not take away the modern interior design and high ceilings. read more

I made a reservation for 10 at Wren for a company dinner. We were seated at the chefs table and had the chefs Izakaya menu. All of the food was fantastic and the space was nice. We really appreciated the attention to detail from our server, Rodrigo. I also appreciated the help with booking with Zeina. I recommend scheduling this for your upcoming work event. read more
Drinks were good had the singing in the rain. Food was decent Brussels sprouts needed more flavor but the braised spare rib, spicy tuna roll and Bao bun was good. It's a beautiful place. Bartenders were great. Definitely would go back for drinks. read more
This restaurant has been popping up on my search whenever i am in northern Va. so. Finally made it. It's inside a hotel. Watermark i believe. Easy parking. In the garage. Restaurant was pretty quiet for Friday night. Bar busy yet had seating. Bartenders super nice. Ambience i would say quiet and semi romantic. I enjoyed it for sure. Food was great. I think my partner who had wagoo rice said it could have been a little more tender and seasoned. However, everything else was great. Rare burger came juicy and delicious. Yellow tail was fresh and i wanted one more plate but of course held myself back. But honesty. Two of those and my dinner would have been just as perfect. Thought we would just pop in to Wren for a pre show bite. We were seeing a concert at capital one hall. Wren is in the Watermark Hotel which is attached to Capital One Hall. We did not have reservations so we sat at the large bar area which had plenty of seats. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted and provided menus. We ordered edamame and wagyu fried rice. The beef in the fried rice was so tender and tasted great with all the flavors in the dish. I would like to go back when we have more time and try some additional dishes. Came for a date night on a Saturday night at Wren and had a great time. Saturday night seems to be a busy night, but the wait staff was very helpful in finding a good table and were attentive throughout the night. Ambience in the dining area is intimate and relaxed. Food was great, drinks were great. The vesper cocktail and Washu Gyu were favorites of the night. If you park in the hotel/event parking garage they validate parking. Overall great experience and would come back again. read more
My husband and I dined at Wren for Restaurant Week. The restaurant is trendy and has a great ambiance. We parked in the Wegmans garage which is free for the first two hours. We loved the pork buns, bingsoo, and ice cream (made in house)! The wagyu burgers were good, but we ultimately felt they were a bit too greasy and the soft brioche bun didn't complement the greasy burger. Overall we had a good experience and we will likely dine here again. read more

I'm from California, and this is my second time visiting WREN. Every time I'm in Virginia, I make it a point to stop by this restaurant. The service is exceptional, and the food is absolutely delicious. I'm particularly impressed with Chef Yo's elegant and thoughtfully prepared menu. Even on a Wednesday evening, the place is bustling with diners. I wholeheartedly recommend it--five stars! read more

Planned a girl's night out and we agreed to start the evening with dinner and drinks at Wren. I was beyond excited because I've heard all the jazz about this place and I love visiting anything attached to a cool rooftop with views (which this is + it's also attached to The Perch at The Capital One Center). I made a resy for 8:30 (bc that was the earliest available for a table) but I told my girlfriend to meet there are 7:30 with hopes of scoring a seat at the bar which we did (despite it being pretty packed)! We were immediately greeted by a server at the bar and ordered 2 of their specialty cocktails which were presented beautifully and very flavorful and we thought we were off to what would be a 5 star evening ... SIGH ... but that wasn't the case. It seemed that after ordering our first round of drinks that we had to literally flag down a server at the bar to first get their attention and to then wait a bit for them to come over and take our second round cocktail and food order. The bar service was so mediocre that we literally had other patrons asking to see our menus because it was impossible to get one from anyone and then also asking us how long it to took to receive our food and drinks because they were experiencing the same service (or lack thereof that we were) ... and to make matters worse, our empty plates needing to be bussed sat in front of us crowding our space plus bar space for over 30 minutes which was not only annoying but also a major eyesore for us and other patrons. This is a clear indicator in my opinion that there was zero presence of any bar or restaurant manager potentially coupled with lack of service training bc we are talking the basics here. While the food was pretty good (we had the Wren Sushi Roll, Tokyo Chicken and Pork Belly Bao Buns) the above experience truly negatively impacted the overall experience and rating because this was not on our " Wren bingo card" given just how highly favored the restaurant has been since opening...but it proves yet again that food is not the sole thing that carries a restaurant to greatness. read more
I really wanted to like Wren but my experience was mixed. Since my friend works at CO, I decided to tag along with him to try out Wren and see if the food is great as it looked. It's really nice and spacious in there; lots of people chatting and mingling around after a long day of work. I think majority of them were employees of CO so that would make sense. We weren't able to get a table at all as every table has been booked in advance. There were empty tables but the host that we went up to said that it was reserved so we had no choice but to sit at the bar. I don't mind the bar section but it was so crowded with many people that I wasn't really able to enjoy my food in silence. At least I got a drink to help me out with. The server who served me actually gave me the wrong drink and I even pointed it out to him on the menu. I'm not really sure what else I could do to clarify but it is what it is. I got some pink drink which was a Palatini. It's Vodka, Carpano Blanco and Grapefruit bitters. It wasn't a bad drink but it got me buzzed to at least keep my thoughts at bay. I got the Tokyo Chicken which was basically Karaage with House Tare and Cabbage Slaw. In my honest opinion the portion size is too small and not worth the price. My friend got Kaisen Ramen and that looked way better than what I'm eating. Perhaps I ate an appetizer and that'd just be on me but I expected a bit more. I think if it was less busy and we got a table where I could actually hear my friend and my server this would have been more enjoyable. For now, it's alright. read more
We came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved it! First off, the service was amazing from start to finish. They had put a lovely card on our table for our anniversary that was signed by the servers with lovely messages. We also got one dessert on the house for the celebration. Our server was also very kind. When he forgot to bring us our waters, we gently reminded him. He was so apologetic and went above and beyond with our service. Second, the venue is very nice. It's on the top floor of a hotel with lovely window seats and lots of natural light coming in. It's great for a date night or if you want to grab nice cocktail drinks or a beer at the bar. Lastly, the FOOD! We were pleasantly surprised by everything on the menu. The wagyu fried rice was pretty good with lots of wagyu beef mixed in. Our absolute favorite was the Tokyo chicken. It was delicious with nice cucumber slices to complement the more salty chicken. The short rib was tender and could easily be stripped apart with a fork. The corn tempura was a new dish I've never tried before but was amazing and great as an appetizer. Lastly, the shaved ice was delicious! It came with a side of their ice cream which was perfectly creamy. All of the portions were big and we were both full by the end of our meal. Their local beers are also delicious!
