Greenhouse: ceviche with an unknown huge unseasoned sweet potato
    Bella J.

They are very unique space and quite interesting. 1. Reservation: recommended. Depending on the day, they may be fully packed or empty. It is hard to tell so just reserve. 2. Food: 3 stars at best. 2.5 is more appropriate. - wagyu steak: comes with ketchup all over it? why? for their defense, it is not just plain ketchup but has some sriracha mixture, but still.. - ceviche - edible if you were hungry.. huge slap of cold uncut giant sweet potato taking 60% of the plate and then a little cup on ceviche.. even the plating, the combo- whole thing is weird - sweet potato: a bit burnt but actually only decent item here 3. Dessert: 2-3 stars - Sarah Lee cake with whipped cream on top or something. They are certainly not making it there. - creme brûlée is much better than all other desserts here, but still not that great 4. Drinks: 3.5 stars - stick with wine or beer. - mixed drinks are not that good here 5. Service: 5 stars - Manager is amazing - Waiters are cool and nice If they improve their back kitchen and start making delicious food, it could really be a better place.

Food was amazing and service was attentive. Great place for an afternoon relaxing smoke!

The place always has entertainment and people that dance. The brunch was pretty good lively and the atmosphere is very nice. The food at bunch was a 3/5 but the lunch/ dinner I have had there has been a 5/5. The menu is diverse but their kabob platter is amazing. The drinks too offered after five is better in my opinion. The brunch is bottomless and you can choose anything from the menu. The servers are on point and very sweet staff all around. It's a good place at night to dance if you don't feel like making the pilgrimage to dc. One of the better dance places and definitely cleaner than most in tysons. Can get pretty busy especially on the weekends .

Greenhouse in McLean, Virginia is truly a gem. The atmosphere is beautiful, warm, and very inviting--perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was outstanding, full of flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The service was just as impressive: the staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome throughout the entire experience. It's not easy to find a place that gets everything right--great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere--but Greenhouse definitely does. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the McLean area. I will definitely be coming back!

We came from California to celebrate our best friend birthday at greenhouse. The food was amazing.Ala and Alex take care of us with great hospitality. DJ Jose is great DJ , overall everything was excellent,I am recommend this place for any gatherings. Thank you

The atmosphere is good and switches to a club vibe late night. They have different types of live music different days. The service on Saturday night is only s good as your waitress. I've been here a couple of times and I wonder if the included 20% gratuity is what makes some waiters less attentive. Wayer wasn't provided until we were two alcoholic drinks in. Our party had to wait 5-10 minutes for utensils, 3 separate times and two of us had to leave and get other waitets to assist and grab silverware from other tables. When ordering ribeye steak, you don't want it getting cold. The same occurred when we received dessert without utensils. Throughput the night we had to get othetvwaiters to assist or grab our waitress. Nobody wants negligent service but when spending $500 on dinner you definitely look at what your tip contributed to. The food was pretty good in general but the rockfish was sold out. I assume it's popular so go early for that dish. Ribeye was tender and a decent quality paired with flavorful potatoes and well sesred asparagus. The drinks were pretty good with the passion fruit and pomegranate martinis being faves, sweet with a kick. After 10pm in the summer the prices have increased to $100 pp to sit in the lounge and $50 pp to sit and dine outside. The lounge is a club atmosphere with a good DJ. The main restaurant area ends up open space with a live band, typically the salsa dancers and people looking for something more relaxed are in that area.

Okay environment, solid parking, "meh" customer service, subpar food (except the French fries, those were great)

We ordered sushi and lamb chops. The sushi was so bad I felt sick all night. I had to walk all night. My Freind left hungry after paying 40 for this lamb chops.....

Was better before on Latin nights on the weekends before they added all those additional tables.

Is there a cover charge for this location? Also are jeans acceptable? (for males)

There is cover charge but it's random. Some nights you will pay at least $20 cover charge and some nights you won't. Also the cover charge doesn't apply to all customers. I guess it depends on who you know & how you look. Which is biased.

Do they take dinner reservations on Fridays?

Yes! They take dinner reservations every night they are open.

Is there dancing here during the week? Looking for a girls night on a Monday or Tuesday. 😊

I could be wrong, but I think dancing is only offered on the weekend, Friday, Saturday, maybe Sunday. Sorry...

What time is weekday happy hour and what are the specials?

4-7pm $5 beers $6 wine & cocktails. Wednesdays 4-close is 50% off bottles of wine

What kind of music does the dj spin on the weekends?

Live band until 10 pm follow by Latin night Friday nights DJ spins a mix of hip hop and Latin music like bachata, merengue, salsa etc. Definitely a good mix!

Is there a cover charge for the club? About how much is hookah?

Heads up get here early! Friend and I arrived on a sat at 9:15pm to smoke hookah and all the tables opening at 10:30 had been fully booked up, so they said.

I was told that they serve hookah here, but I looked it up and there wasn't anything on the menu or any pictures that shows that there is. Is there hookah?

Yes there is Sandra There is an adjoining room/bar that opens later in the evening with comfy chairs and service and a DJ - and dancing!… Read more

They have a few tables with umbrellas for cover during the day and even some lighting for nights. Food: The steak and sushi combo was interesting. The sirloin bites were small, but good, the sushi was mid - just not enough tuna on the crispy tuna rice and not enough flavor. The pesto spaghetti (Shrimp and Scallop Spaghettini) was good, but came with only two shrimp and a handful of the smallest scallops I've ever been served. The salmon entree was cooked well. Drinks: The cocktails were the highlight of the night. Several good margarita and martini variations on the menu that were perfect for the weather. Service: This was the worst part of the meal. Our server seemed to be frazzled the whole night. Twice during the meal we had our drinks delivered to the wrong table. The manager verbally apologized, but took nothing off the bill. It wasn't just our table though - we saw several of our server's tables get the wrong food or drinks. It also took a really long time to get water refilled at the table which was an issue in the heat. Verdict: 6/10. If they ironed out the kinks with service and dropped their prices by 10% on select dishes (tiny sirloin bites and subpar crispy tuna rice for almost $50 is madness), they would probably be an 8/10. I'll probably give them one more try and just avoid some dishes.

Dinner menu seems to be the same as the dinner menu from last year. Breakfast we ordered the chicken and waffles and also the lobster eggs Benedict. The chicken and waffle was cooked fresh. Chicken crispy and juicy. Waffle fluffy. The lobster Benedict was a let down. Eggs were cooked nicely but the lobster bits were mushy. Overall the room was nice and the food was hit or miss.

Delicious Indian restaurant - great happy hour and brunch spot!…read more The happy hour from 4pm-7pm Monday-Fri is an amazing deal. I ordered 2 dishes and a cocktail for under $20! I requested for the Paneer Tikka Flatbread (not on the menu)- vegetarian version of the Chicken Paneer Tikka Flatbread. The naan pizza was delicious, it was stuffed with cubes of paneer with a side of Tikki Masala dipping sauce. Highly recommend it! You can get the Paneer Pizza next door too! The Paneer Tacos were filling and fun to try, but large chunky blocks of paneer. While I enjoyed the spicy mayo sauce, I wish the paneer was cut up into cubes. It just felt a bit heavy with the paneer. The Spinach Artichoke Fritters (4) were tasty. The Mango Mojito and the Mumbai Mule cocktail weren't that good, but it honestly it's hard to complain when it's only $6/drink. The unlimited weekend brunch at $38 is a great deal and well worth it! You can choose from over a dozen Indian fusion dishe - as a bonus mango lassi, chai, and soft drinks are included! You can order 2 dishes/person at a time and the servers hastily swing by to clear your plates and place your next order! Between the 3 of us, we ordered almost conquered the full brunch menu and had a delightful brunch feast! The food had a spicy kick, but not overpowering and wasn't greasy. The portions range from small, bite-size apps to full, large entree size. There's a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu with a few non-veg as well. There's a good balance between traditional Indian dishes and Western fusion with a hint of American flavors/presentation. My favorite stand-outs: - Aam Chat Papri with crispy Papri pita like chips with mango, chick peas, and potatoes smothered in yogurt and chutney, and topped with spicy garam masala mix - Chana Bhatura with chick pea curry and fluffy, bubbly fried bread. Large portion. - Spinach and Artichoke Fritters - Crispy bite-size balls filled with creamy spinach artichoke dip, 4 come in an order and perfect for sharing! - Aloo Bravas - Crispy, diced potatoes very reminiscent of the Spanish Patatas Bravas with aioli sauce and mild masala spicy kick - Butter Chicken - My friend enjoyed it, solid full entree size. I didn't order or try it in, but it looked pretty tasty and could easily why she made a happy empty plate! - Nutella Bread Pakora - Tastes like a bites-size Nutella fried donut! So good we ordered another one! - Helluva Hallawa Trio - I enjoyed sampling the 3 types of Hallawa, ranging in savory (carrot) to more sweet and milky (my favorite). - Mango Lassi - The sweetness of the mango lassi helped to balance out and absorb the spiciness of the food. - Masala Chai - Great ending to a meal, perfectG caffeine pick me up! Paired well with the Nutella bread Pakora. The other dishes on the menu were fun to try, but would probably skip and save room for my faves: - Aloo Sabzi and Katchuri - The dense hollow shell katchuri (similar to a round empanada) made of dhal lentil smothered in Aloo potato curry sabzi was very filling and dense. After a couple of bites, I threw in the towel. - Egg Burgi and Paratha - The masala spicy scrambled egg on paratha flatbread was kind of bland and a very small portion. - Mango Mimosa - While the mimosas were only $4, it was quite tangy and didn't pair well with the meal. I wish fresh mango juice was used instead of mango flavored juice (tastes like Izzy). The lunch buffet (Mon - Fri 12pm - 2:30pm for $23 wasn't the best experience. Admittedly, I came to the buffet at 1:30pm and the food was tepid and sadly overcooked under the heat lamp. The plates were very small and it was hard to fit a bunch of food. I went to the buffet at least 3 or 4 times to try out the dishes in search of the perfect bite, which I sadly couldn't. There were 5 main standard dishes with 3 vegetarian dishes (Dal Makhani, Aloo Ghobi, and Mehti Paneer) and 2 non-veg featuring both chicken dishes (Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry) and a galore of fried fritters/pakoras (spinach, onion, potato) with a couple of new rotating stations with Pani Puri (not much going on) and Spinach Tikki and Fish Pakora fried fritters. The Mehti Paneer was quite greasy with a coat of grease at the top and the paneer was pretty stiff. It wasn't tender. The Dal Makhani was bland. The potato aloo potatoes were brittle as they were sitting under the heat lamp too long. The best part about the meal was the fluffy naan, which was made-to-order. I enjoyed 2 rounds! Order the Masala Dosa crispy! When we got it the 1st time on the lunch special, it was a bit rubbery and soggy. After the server asked us a few times whether we liked it, my hubby relented and told him the honest answer. The server got the dosa re-made to go extra crispy, which did the trick! The masala potatoes paired well with the dosa. I wasn't a fan of the Sambar. Based on the glowing brunch and happy hour experience, I would come back to try the lunch buffet with an early start right when it opens!

Reservations - I've been with OpenTable and other restaurant online booking systems for decades but this is a first for me. They have two separate OpenTable listings (as noted in other reviews). I was clear in that i just wanted an after work chill happy hour. I booked for 4:30. After promptly showing up at the wren for my 4:30 appointment I was told, Naisho room doesn't open until 5 pm.... So why did you let me book for 4:30?!?! No explanation. No apology just "you're early..." 2. I promptly dropped $70 for drinks and an appetizer at the Wren bar to hold me and my guests over. It wasn't bad but that's not what I was hoping for... at 4:30. 3. The service to the speakeasy was great. The "gym stag" had our 4:30 and let us in at... 5:03 pm... 4. The waitress inside the speakeasy was super awkward and off putting. She really needs a class on etiquette. I ordered quite a bit right off the bat but my guests slow roll throughout the experience and she didn't seem too happy with that. Taking away our menus doesn't encourage us to order either. You charge $22 for one tea sandwhich but can't afford to print out more menus? The menus were also pretty dingy and I hand sanitized after using them. 5. Food. Was mid at best. Not at all authentic Japanese. I had the oyster shooter, temaki, Wagyu toast, Wagyu quesadilla, and mocktail. The oyster shooter was too sweet. And you could only taste the oyster and caviar at the end. Mostly as an aftertaste. There was a "too sweet" aspect to most of the food. The temaki was okay and I liked the crunchy bits but they went too far with the plastic wrap on the seaweed. The plastic wrap gave me Japanese 7-11 onigiri vibes. You do that if you aren't efficient enough to get the food out to guests at once and the seaweed will get soggy. I'm not sure if it was for a "fun factor" for people who are unfamiliar with grocery store onigiri in Asia but in a restaurant it should be done for you. The Wagyu toast was a HUGE disappointment. It was Sooooo sweet. I filet barely taste anything except the gross, sweet jam. And the toast was soggy and the texture of the bread felt prepared the day before and like refrigerator. It was not toasted at all. The star was the Wagyu quesadilla with beef tendon chips. It was the cheapest item on the menu and the most filling and delicious. 6. Drinks were very good. Expect about $20 a pop... $50 for the Japanese whiskey is highway robbery. Nothing really "rare." I have most bottles on the kitchen counter from the Virginia ABc or DC Costco. You can buy an entire bottle of the Japanese whiskey at Costco for the cost of one serving here. Overall, the Naisho room felt like all hype. For over $100 I was still pretty hungry. If the food tasted good I would have ordered more but I didn't think it was worth it. You get a nice view but it's the same from most of the capital one building. Same view from the brewery. Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere. Plenty of better happy hour spots for much much less considering if you stay for more than two hours you have to pay for parking (we did becuase, well, our reservation was at 4:30...)

O my! I don't know where to start…read more.. Chris L. was our serve on this trip and he had wonderful recommendations, like: 1. Golden hour cocktail - It was just lovely! It tastes like the best rum punch you've had. It was perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. Beautiful in color. So good I had to sip this one very slowly...like it was the last or only one ever made. DELICIOUS! He also recommended the: 2. Smoked Old Fashioned and it was served to perfection as well. Nice and smoky and smooove. Then...we had the lobster tacos. I don't like lobster. Well, I didn't like lobster until I tried these tacos. To be honest, the lobster tasted like crab legs and the taco was dressed in all fresh ingredients (avocado, charred corn, cilantro, and a fresh flour tortilla) Alright...then next up was the Panko Crusted Sole. It is not filleted tableside because it is pan seared in the kitchen. It was very filling. I think I had three nice-sized filets. It came pretty much with a light and fresh tomato salad. You should do it! Then there was the Crab Cake, which was good. It was in the sweeter end. It was a large portion. It does not have jumbo lump crab meat, but don't let that deter you. Christ also informed us that the "Accompaniments" (sides) could be ordered in half sizes and indeed we - I - had a half size of the Au Gratin Potatoes. They were very smooth, flavorful, and creamy. Also, shouts out to Oscar who held down the water service and the other little things in between that also made this evening even better. The ambiance...I can't wait to head here again on Friday! I went in Saturday evening and the 3 Bears (band) was the live musical entertainment. They were AMAZING! To be honest, I just want to drop in and get a salad and drink...but everything else was so wonderful that $300 later, I'm writing this review. It was worth every penny - and don't forget to tip the band yall! That's it.

I went recently to try the every day happy hour, and I enjoyed most of the items I ordered although…read moreI would recommend skipping the wagyu dumplings and the lemon tart. First, the au gratin potatoes were tasty and even better when I reheated them the next day. The dumplings first came out cold, and when they were replaced, they didn't have much flavor. I ordered the lemon tart to take home, and I really wish I hadn't. It lacked flavor, and the crust was not crisp. I was very disappointed. Service at the bar was a little hit or miss. The bartenders were very busy, and the waiters would walk by, avoiding any eye contact. Also, the host needs tips on greeting guests. Instead of asking how he could help us or if we had a reservation, he just stated that they were booked all weekend. During our time at the bar, only half of the tables filled up.
