First time at Barrel & Bushel and I had a good time. It was a bit crowded but we were able to find a seat rather quickly. We were able to sit at the outside bar. The ambiance was nice. They were playing the World Cup games on TV so that was cool. The vibe was pretty calm and cool. The service was to be desired. The bartender wasn't very friendly and attentive. He didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our experience with him. We didn't order food but we ordered two drinks. I ordered the old fashioned and my friend ordered a beer. The old fashioned was really good. A little two sweet but definitely enjoyable. The beer was pretty tasty as well. It was a pale ale. Now it was a Saturday nothing special but everyone was out and about as the weather was pretty nice. I've been to the Tyson's Corner area many times but never to this area of restaurants. So we were kind of in a rush so I decided on a lemon drop which was made really good. We only had time to eat a little of the appetizer which was a crab dip and baby it was FULL of crab and so cheesy. The pretzel was nice and soft and lightly salted. We did get entrees but to go as we were about to be late...I got the ribeye medium with the cheesy cauliflower And when I tell you the steak was cooked to perfection! I can only imagine how loud the place would be when they're busy but lucky for us, we came at 5:00 p.m. I didn't realize how big the place was just standing at the entrance but our host took us further back into the restaurant. The floor to ceiling windows gives the place a bit of grandeur. I ordered the lamb chops and he ordered the beef brisket. The lamb chops were tough. It was one of those times where you bite into it and the meat wouldn't come off the bone so you pull really hard on the bone while the meat is between your teeth and you hope you don't pull so hard that things go flying while five of your friends watch. The lamb did have some nice flavor but just too tough. The bed of potatoes were too abundant. It would have been nice to have had a small serving of a green vegetables with this dish. The brisket was nice and tender with a sweet tangy bbq sauce. It was a good portion for dinner. read more

We stopped by during happy hour, more for the food than the drinks. The deal was $2 off bites, so we ordered the pork belly, both the chicken and beef sliders, and the loaded tots. Inside there is a lot of wood and metal, kind of an industrial-rustic-chic vibe, with one wall full of coolers containing various beverages, from beer kegs to wine to bottled water. The menu is basically salads, soups and sandwiches, but with elevated and/or unexpected flavor combinations. Our table ordered a lamb burger, smoked she crab soup, and winter chop salad topped with amber maple salmon. We were there on Thanksgiving Day and they did offer a special Thanksgiving Plate. First off the ambiance/location is nice, and that's all I have to say on the positive side. Server was inattentive during checkout a bit. Food wise....disgusting! I ordered the Lamb Burger and red potatoes, the first and only bite felt like I was biting into a rubber band and the taste was like eating a rubber band. Sent it back ordered the Mediterranean salad first and only bite the taste was so off putting and a sour after taste resembled eggplant but there was no eggplant included. Sent it back. Looked across the way saw a Shake Shack instead and ate there and got my money worth. Only good thing was the drinks and Fries. Whatever's they are doing with the fries should be done with the rest of the menu. Won't return unless for drinks and fries. They need to revamp the menu by a lot. read more

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Tysons Corner for several days and visited Barrel & Bushel multiple times because of its convenient location. What I found was a real mixed bag, with service ranging from excellent to truly awful. Every morning, I stopped by for coffee, and the greeters who took my order and made my espresso drinks were consistently great. Friendly, engaging, and efficient--they started my day off on a high note. I can't say enough good things about them. On the flip side, my experience at the bar was the worst I've had in years. I interacted with two different bartenders, and both seemed actively annoyed to be there. One had the demeanor of a tortured artist who clearly found the act of taking orders beneath him. The other seemed offended that anyone would order a drink 30 minutes before closing. Both encounters were surprisingly dismissive and unwelcoming. Fortunately, I did have one waitress who was fantastic--professional, attentive, and upbeat. So again, very mixed service. The food, though, was very good. I especially enjoyed the appetizers. The pork belly was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and well-prepared--and the tuna tartare nachos were also a standout. The consistency of the morning crew and the quality of the food keep this from being a 2-star review, but the attitude of the bartenders made it hard to rate this place any higher than 3 stars. If you're grabbing a coffee or a bite to eat, there's a lot to like here. Just don't count on the bar being a bright spot. read more

Unfortunately, they took this feature down, and now you have to wait to be served by waiters. During my recent visit, it took 15 minutes to get the attention of a waitress, despite the late hour and lack of crowding. However, the waitress was very attentive and did her best to accommodate us. The food quality remains consistently excellent and reasonably priced, and the drinks are equally commendable. They updated the outside area with new furniture, which is really nice now Overall, it's a good place to go for some tasty food and drinks. Still, Great ambience & friendly staff deserved 4 stars rating but as I said, service needs improvement albeit I will not penalize the team of servers because I could tell they worked hard during our visit. Came here for dinner with a mentor and had a great time! Loved the slight outdoor ambiance on a gorgeous summer day in VA. For my entree, I went with the Amber Maple Salmon. It was a delicious blend of pine nuts and amber ale maple glaze. The charred broccolini was a great touch and paired perfectly with the medium well salmon. A very large space with indoor and outdoor seating, this spot has a great ambiance but lacks in flavor (or rather overwhelms the senses). Service was slow but waiter was polite. He's forget certain asks, like when we wanted extra olives for a Bloody Mary or a Diet Pepsi. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and everything was OK but almost a flavor overload. The chicken sliders were both acidic and sweet, almost burning my tongue flavor wise. The pork belly was very sweet. The crab dip was a bit too salty with the pretzel. For my main I got the French toast and it was tasty but the side cream was like a bitter sweet I wasn't a huge fan of and for 17$ you get four pieces of bread, I think it's a bit of a rip off. Mimosa was ok but served in an odd glass for a mimosa. The Bloody Mary was very light and could be tastier. Not bad but not amazing. read more
